Where do you stay when you visit cornwall? Just got back from another epic trip staying at penzance YHA. 3 nights with all you can eat breakfast for £65 if you talk to the manager, paul you can usually get a good dorm, if your not happy he will move you if space allows. No problem. They also have a bar, restaurant, kitchen and dining area as well as a huge drying room for all your gear. Also has great Wi-Fi and a brilliant vide. Town is a short walk down the hill and easy safe… parking. You dont have to be members just bring photo id and your in. We find its the perfect base for north and south coasts so we can find waves in almost any conditions within a half hour drive. Perfect for any winter trip! We head down every november and have never been disapointed (in 3 years) It feels like a grand hotel.

I stay at this hostel on a regular basis great hostel close to excellent transport links I've also camped in the grounds very good vacilities staff are always friendly and helpful well worth a visit.

Good backpackers Lodge. Sufficient facilities. Toilets/showers are outside the room. Previous backpackers I have been to last time has communal en suite rooms. No need to get out of the room to use toilet/shower. Quiet & peaceful location.

Very clean nice and hot showers nice beds if you like to share with other males nice breakfast. And for the kids theres a TV games a big lawn plus you can go campping in some bell tents the kids would like and love as well it lands end is just 10 miles down the road if you are going to visit lands end please do it by bus for you will have to pay about £15 pounds to park but there is a good bus service from penzance and it will save you £15 pounds in your pocket and not lands ends pockets for if you get a return bus ticketor a weekly bus pass youwill save ££££ over you stay in cornwall.

Nice quiet place with affordable price. Has a plenty of parking space. Well managed and manager Paul was very helpful.

I camped here for a week. The building itself is lovely. The facilities were all really good. The extra campsite toilet/shower block was handy. The camping area was nice, with shelter for rain or sun. There were picnic style benches as well. The big tree was really impressive! My only issue was that the camping area is also an area that will be used by guests. When I stayed there was a large school group in the hostel and so the campsite was noisey in the mornings and late evenings. Any other time I can't see it being such an issue. It's a lovely area and this is a great spot to explore Penzance from. Plenty of shops and places to eat in the area and lots of amazing sites to see. Highly recommended!

Its a bit out of the way but a lovely hostel and great staff. Paul, thank you for your response. I definitely see the benefits of that. Having young kids it wasnt easy going back and forth. I enjoyed it very much nevertheless.

Good hostel on penzance. Good meal and breakfast.

Superb well received and looked after. Couldn't fault anything. Tremendous value for money at £15 a night for bed and breakfast.

Always a warm welcome, it's the place I go to when I need to relax by walking in West Cornwall.

Very small rooms especially the family room, could touch each wall at an arms length. Lots of dust above the mirrors and on the curtain pole. Especially creaky floor. Although there were friendly staff, we were fobbed off by one member of staff after asking them to get the room next to us to quieten down. Food is quite expensive, so we made our own. Beds were not very comfortable and left me next to sleepless on the first night, wouldnt recomend to anyone with back pains. Games room was a push as there was only a pool table. Although it was cheap and is close to the town center with a 15 minute walk each way. Beds were quite small. Even for the price it was a bit of a let down, maybe next time I should go in with a more open mind. Also when it said family room I expected at least four beds, although we were suprised to see a very ugly bunk bed which creaked when we moved. Although as it was cheap I would stay again but definitely in a different room.

This was my first experience of staying in a YHA and couldn't have been more happy with the experience. Very welcoming staff, helpful and with a good sense of humour Beds were actually very comfy and the breakfast was mega. Would definitely recommend the place for sure. Need to stay in a few more now.

Expensive but a welcomed night off from camping in the rain. Very easily accessible.

Great place to stay excellent transport links nice location I stay here on a regular basis ideal for groups families couples and solo travellers I would recommend it.

Very nice, helpful staff. Bit small but clean rooms and pleasant shower with good water pressure and temperature. About 30 min from city but worth to stay there.

Very clean and cosy. Kitchen a bit small but the hostel is fantastic value.

Friendly, helpful, good food. We went there with our young grandchildren and the staff were excellent. The grounds were interesting. We had a family room which was good. Plan to go there again.

Me and my fiancé stayed at the Bell tent in the YHA Penzance. We're actually staying at several YHA campsites this week and this one is our least favourite. Not to say that it's bad. This was the only bell tent that we stayed at that did not have a log burner inside. The campsite is just a large garden. No nice views but was useful for what we needed which was a place to sleep. The facilities are a nice short walk and they had a good kitchen in the main building. Several decent ovens meant we cooked a mini roast dinner. We purchased a cooked breakfast in the morning. It was nothing special and a bit overpriced for the quality of food. I would stay again but just as a stopover.

This review is based on camping. There were only really 2 negatives: — 5pm check in time for camping, which is rather odd as there aren't allocated pitches, why not allow people to set up earlier as the previous campers should be gone much earlier in the day. — 1 shower per gender, the temperature and pressure of which fluctuates massively if someone decides to do their washing up at the same time Otherwise an overall good campsite in a good location for accessing Penzance. Taxi to/from the promenade is around £6.50. Staff are great, especially the chef who managed to make us a pizza in a small gap between the large groups that he had to cater for, which was greatly appreciated.

I went as part of a school party, we stay annually and the stay is great every year.

Great hostel in a beautiful location, comfortable beds, lovely staff and really good breakfast. I was in Penzance to go to Seth Lakeman's gig at the Minack Theatre and this was a perfect base for exploring the whole area. Great value especially if you're a member of the YHA or SYHA like me. Would totally recommend and will be back!

Great base for exploring West Cornwall. Excellent atmosphere and facilities clean and tidy. Only downer was the limited personal washing space — didn't feel like there were enough wash rooms for the number of guests. Basins in the toilets kept then occupied too long in the morning. Otherwise really enjoyed my self.

Had an excellent time at YHA Penzance. Comfortable, nice location, lovely building and gardens. Food very good. There is so much to do near by, I will definitely be staying there again.

Set in a large green space away from the main road, this quaint hostel offers a quiet place perfect for families, small/medium groups and backpackers. An Edwardian building with a contemporary amenities. + Plenty of showers and toilets + Bunkbeds each have own lamp and socket + Decently priced buffet breakfast + About 10 min walk from centre Penzance + Coin-op washing machine and dryer + Self-catering kitchen and large dining room + Cosy lounge — Poor Wi-Fi signal restricted to only main hallways — During busy weeks fridges fill up quickly — Can get congested.

Really great hostel, with friendly staff, all the facilities needed, and a grand building.

We had a very satisfactory one-night stay on our way back from the Scillies. If we had booked on the YHA website, rather than a generic hotel site, we would have saved more than 20 pounds, by getting YHA member discount as well as a family rate. Warm welcome, and good facilities. You can even camp here.

Superb hostel. Everybody who comes to penzance should stay here. All the facility are superb over here.

Well, I don't know what this place is like now but in 1997 and 2000 when I stayed there it was FABULOUS. Penzance is my all-time favorite place in the UK, possibly in part due to this hostel. The accommodations are nice and the food is good, but what really made it for my friends and me was the people who worked there. I long to go back but that time may be passed for me now that I am a wife and mother. I will always have wonderful memories of the hostel at Penzance, though.
