The room we had was fine, but certainly not the four stars that we saw here when we booked the room. Our room was a studio with a small kitchenette and a bathroom. The rugs in the main room were dirty and there were cobwebs in the corners. The paint in the bathroom was peeling and there was black mold in the shower. The kitchenette was fine though the trashcan was broken. It was stocked with plates and utensils, and even had a little espresso machine. Our room was below ground, and it seems like the spare keys for other guests were outside our door, so there were constantly people walking outside our door, which was unsettling. Also, checking in was terrible; we had to wait on the phone for a half hour on the day we were checking in to schedule a time for the person to let us in. They also sent us a contract to sign less than three hours before we were supposed to check in that had a bunch of extra fees we'd never heard of. Overall, the room was decent and fine for someone younger who just needs a place to stay. However, management does not take care of the room and is horrible to deal with.

Check in was a nightmare. On hold on the phone for 15 minutes before the company answered, then was called and harassed to “hurry up” because someone was waiting to let me in. Turns out it was just two kids waiting on the front stoop. Took an extra $100 to protect the apartment — which would make sense if the apartment was in good or clean condition — it wasn’t. Peeling paint, no screens on the windows, you can hear your neighbors flushing the toilet. Trash can in the kitchen was broke. The espresso machine came with only 3 pods for 2 people staying 3 nights (and 2 of the 3 were decaf! ). I took a shower and within 5 minutes of walking around the unit my feet were totally dirty. There is little privacy in the unit because they installed the extra keys for all of the building’s units right outside of the front door — so in addition to being in the basement unit, you also have people coming at all times of day and night to collect their keys from right outside your front door (which is glass, see through, and looks directly onto the bed). Very disappointed with this “deluxe studio”. Don’t even want to imagine what their normal rooms are like. Only pros: size, location, kitchenette.

I must say that everything was clean and tidy, nice and warm room, hot shower and some free coffee in the kitchen. Cambridge is expensive tho and no parking… Consider 15£/day more for the parking.
