Lone female, working away from home, couldn’t fault the place. Very friendly. Good food. Lovely comfy bed. Staff are really awesome, remembered my name throughout my stay. I was working odd shifts and were great at accommodating my meals. Room was very clean, building is very old, plenty of parking.

Great little pub/hotel, friendly staff and nice rooms.

Lovely room and made to feel very welcome. Lone traveling female who felt very comfortable reading my book in the bar, great meal too. Would deffinatly recommend, also very accommodating with me having a wheat intolerance.

Bev the manager and her team where amazing and made sure we all enjoyed ourselves.
Rooms where very comfortable and warm on a cold night. Food was amazing, hot and tasty.

Really dated rooms and the service was a poor. There was nobody on the bar when we got there and we were mocked by the lady who came for not using the bell (didn't want to seem rude and impatient)! No toilet signs which is probably to confuse people who are passing by and need to use them. We didn't want to sit in the bar room as it was a little smelly for some reason, but were refused to be seated in the main seating area unless we ordered food, even when we suggested that we'll sit down and have a look at the menu first before ordering but we were still refused unless we ordered first… seems more like a prison camp than a pub given the other reviews hah! Stay clear and find somewhere else.

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING SERVICE! Would definitely not recommend to anyone! Me and friends went in there and was refused by the bar man to have a jug of water. Then my friend asked for food and he wrongly told us that it wasn’t being served until 6 — when in fact it was served all day up until 6pm! And waited an hour for food when we were the only people in the pub! VERY DISAPPOINTING AND WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN.

Great food excellent service. Meal deals are exceptional value for money. Cosy bar and never very busy or noisy great for a chill out meal and drink.

Avoid this place like the plague. Staff are incredibly rude on top of that when you ask about the sign they have outside their door advertising fish and chips ALL day EVERY DAY they tell you that they don't do it on Sundays (then why have a sign that's says you do it ALL DAY EVERY DAY) as I was getting up I noticed some dirty bug crawling across the table nearly crawled onto my arm (made me feel sick) as the lady noticed I didn't want anything to eat she asked me and my friends to leave into another room with no one in it, my friend asked for a coke with no ice and the lady put as much ice as you possibly can fit in the glass. Also the staff make little comments about you underneath their breath. There's a £10 card minimum that they tell told us after we got our drinks which was a bit stupid as we only had card. I would recommend everyone to keep away from this place as far as you possibly can.

Lovely traditional pub relaxed atmosphere. Lady on duty was very friendly and helpful. Really good home cooked food, tasty and plentiful. Beer kept well good pint. Would deffinatly come again.

The landlady was very friendly and quickly sorted out drinks and some hot food. Greene King pub so decent menu in a traditional pub.

Had Sunday lunch at the Queens Head this last Sunday. I had the 'slow-cooked rib of beef' and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was delicious. Also, the service was very good, with friendly helpful staff, in fact, an all round positive experience. Will definitely eat Sunday lunch there again. Thanks to all.

Lovely historic building with a lot of character and waiter who really engaged and interacted with us. Very good service and really decent food with little wait time as well as brilliant value for money.

We stopped here for a bite to eat after a long journey. We had Sunday roast and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The barman was brilliant — very attentive but not in your face and had a good laugh with him.

One member of staff on a Sunday covering restaurant, hotel reception and bar. Arrived it was empty, then when we we were ready to order lunch a few were at the bar and it took 10 mins to be served. Food was good, bit cold however. Nice restaurant.

I was told today I cannot use the toilet in the Queens Head Public house Milton Ernest if I am not a paying customer this was after I used the toilet by the manager I was told as I wasn’t a paying customer I couldn’t use the toilet … sad times we live in B396 — Public use of Customer only toilets Bill 2011 BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1. Offence for businesses to prohibit toilets only to paying customers (1) It is an offence for any business to only allow paying customers to use the toilet in their premises. (2) For the purpose of this act: Any business which currently prohibits the use of their toilets to paying customers has to allow non-paying customers use of the toilet. This means that anyone can use the toilet on the businesses premises, provided that paying customers are allowed to use them. 2. Punishment (1) Violation of this Act is punishable by a fine not exceeding £2, 500. 3. Commencement, short title and extent (1) This Act may be cited as Public use of Customer Only Toilets Act 2011 (2) This bill shall extend to the United Kingdom; and (3) Shall come into force immediately following Royal Assent.

Excellent for food, service and convenience. Had a family get together with two disabled members of our party, nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly return.

Really good roast rib of beef with a rich gravy, crispy roasts, a lovely puffy Yorkshire pudding and some fresh vegetables, what more could you want for Sunday dinner. Staff were friendly and service was good.

Arrived yesterday lunchtime for a one night stay. Lovely place and really clean room. Had a meal yesterday for lunch, it really was one of the nicest meals I have eaten out for ages. Breakfast good and the staff were delightful.

Basic and dated rooms. Bar closes at 1030 pm and you are forced to return to your room as the alarm is turned on. Food ends c. 9pm. Not particularly friendly staff who give an impression they are doing you a favour. Lovely old building that, in the right hands, could be a great place to stay.

Comfy room, good, reasonably priced food. Not much mobile signal in the area so if you work remotely that can be a problem, but otherwise good hotel.

Lovely looking place. My friend and I stopped for a drink while out on the bikes and had the most impersonal service possible. I'm not complaining but I could've chosen somewhere better to stop in hindsight.

Most lovely place to stay. Staff are so lovely cant do enough for you. Food is gorgeous and a great price. The rooms are a lovely size and very clean and tidy. We stayed here Sunday night as we had a wedding and it was such a quiet hotel with no trafic noise and we slept well. Bev was a delight to meet thanks again for such a lovely stay.

Friendly service fantastic place to stay my partner and I go ever year and will continue to do so x would recommend to anyone.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for a much needed romantic break so we were really looking forward to a nice evening. We were pleased with our room on arrival which was nicely sized with a huge bed and clean linen, the staff were pleasant but the general impression throughout was a bit grubby and tired and it didnt seem to be as old as was described. We had dinner in the restaurant which was one of the attractions to the hotel, however on ordering there was not alot of choice of starters or main courses left and our first choice of wine was unavailable too. The tinned mushrooms with our steak didnt go down too well but the mushroom starter was fabulous! We enjoyed our meal and moved on to the bar for after dinner drinks to find that the majority of our requests were also unavailable, so we made do with third and fourth choices. In general the hotel seemed nice enough though we were put out at the lack of courteous room service at night much needed for our break away. £55 for the room for the night.

I stayed here in November 2008. The service was really friendly and personal. The room was very clean and adequately appointed, though a few minor touches would have made a significant difference (e. G there was a badly ripped seat cover and some filled but not painted repairs to the walls). We had a table for 10 people at very short notice, and late in the evening. The staff and kitchen responded marvellously, to bring the food out quickly and together. The menu was reasonably broad, though they did run out of several items. The food was good, but not exceptional. I have read one other review about "toenails and hair", which did not match with my experience at all. All in all, pretty reasonable for £60 (Palmersport rate).
