Add an AC to the room and it would have been perfect! Morning coffee on the ocean, swimming with the turtles… awesome.

The trip of a lifetime. Great service, wonderful location, spacious and well stocked room, and enjoyed the on site surf school and restaurant. Will definitely go back. If you get there be sure to go on Kauai Sea Tours catamaran trip.

We stayed in Kiahuna — overall a positive experience, all the staff we interacted with were great. There were a few days we wished we had air conditioning — but overall the ocean breeze did a good job keeping us at a good temperature. Walking distance to the beach and plenty of good options for food and drinks.

The room itself was great, it came with a kitchen stocked with pots and pans which was a plus. The service was lacking. The front desk called us 2-3 times per day (when we were present) which was a little aggressive (no I did not answer as I did not wa feel obligated). Also be careful there is a $160 "checkout cleaning fee" which is apparently not listed on some third party sites. Never encountered a fee for standard service before.

No windows? No air conditioning? OMG. How will I survive? Comfortable trade winds that blow continuously. The rooms are condominium style and the room rates are very reasonable. My room came equipped with everything you find at home, all the equipment needed at the beach, and plenty to do just a walk away. I would recommend this place to everyone.

If you like camping next to a barn then you'll love it here. No a/c, no privacy, but pretty views, and they are timeshares. Even though these units are advertised with a/c and having a washer/dryer they do not. The units do not have a/c but have screened flaps on the front entry and screened flaps by the balcony. Then they have a couple fans placed through out. With that being said, from the outside you can look through the flaps into the bedroom, entry way, and shower. If you wish to close the flaps for privacy, you'll sweat… a lot. Because the only thing between you and the outside are screens and flaps, you can hear everything that goes on outside or listen to your neighbors conversations if you wish. Then of course the wild chickens crowing at 6:30 in the morning. You don't even need an alarm clock! The washer/dryer they promised you is locked in a closet where you can't even access them. But you can pay extra to use the ones they have at the office. Be sure to bring your own towels, because you have to use the same towels at least two days in a row or they'll charge $15 if you need new ones sooner than that. The room we got was not particularly as nice as the ones pictured. The last renovation in the rooms seems like it was in the 90's. They outside of the buildings look good. I will say, it seemed clean, and the views were pretty. But that is the only compliments I can give it.

Friendly and clean. If you like a condo home away from home feel which we like then you will love it We stayed in an ocean front room. No air conditioning but didnt need it. The shutters on the windows open. We loved it here it was a dream vacation! Great service and location. Grounds are beautiful.

This is a wonderful property in a great location. It’s central to most things you will want to do and see on the island. We highly recommend it.

Nice accommodations, but no air conditioning; extra required charge for housekeeping. Few inexpensive restaurants in area. Buy food to cook in provided kitchens before coming to resort area.

We loved, quiet, beautiful grounds, close to a beautiful beach. The unit was not air conditioned but with all the windows that could open and the fans we we were comfortable. Unit was very clean and had everything an apartment would have. Full kitchen with all the utensils you will need. The staff were super friendly too! This side of the island is my favorite side because the weather is nicer and not as much rain. It's not the cheapest place, but we loved every minute of our stay. # kiahunaplantationresort.

I love staying at the kahuna plantation. The grounds are well manicured, staff is friendly and the beaches are perfect to swim and snorkel in. This is our third time and wont ve the last!

Second time here and I love the place! Clean rooms and everything is in tip top condition. Can't beat the location with one of the best beach locations on the South shore.

We got stuck in the huge record rainstorm in Princeville, and the staff at the Outrigger were great about getting us into a unit created by a cancellation. The staff was accommodating, and the room, while somewhat outdated, was nicer than some of the other places that we stayed on our long trip. Location is huge, and close to several beaches, and walking distance to restaurants and shops, which we loved. They even held our bags for us since we had a late flight out. For the cons: there was no housekeeping, yet they charged a mystery $190 cleaning fee for just a 3 night stay. To me, this is like the baggage fee of the hospitality industry — since when is this not part of the deal when you stay somewhere?! To us, this was a deal breaker for returning. Otherwise, the Outrigger could easily be a 4-5 star in my book.

This is a condo rental resort. The room rate for a one bedroom is very reasonable. The rooms are a bit tired but comfortable. The resort is directly across the street from the Poipu Shopping Village. We have use of the pool, hot tub, and fitness center at the Poipu Athletic Club. There is a beach at the end of the property. This is a great location and I recommend it.

From the moment you pull into this location you feel a kind of time travel. The lush, walk ways and stark contrast of the fresh white bungalows takes you back to when this property was first imagined. I love the natural wood throughout the residences and it didn't hurt that I had a kind of garden view… can't wait to come back!

Very happy with our one bedroom condo. Third floor. Beautiful view. The whole resort is beautiful! Poipu Rd. Is behind the complex but we didn't find it noisy. Even near the back of the resort we could still hear the ocean. Gardens are absolutely stunning! The large lawns are like putting greens. We would stay here again! Very helpful and pleasant staff.

Beautiful place, condos with everything you need, they put it for you.

Having 24 hour reception desk is great. Our plane was delayed and we didn't get here until 1 am. Nice grounds, condo ok. However no plastic wrap, condiments like other condos where we have stayed. It seems ridiculous to pay high prices for these things which you cannot possibly use all of. Also, most importantly, bring a white noise generator to drown out the highway and roosters who crow all night.

Had a great romantic dinner hear overlooking the lush gardens. I had the local catch. It was well prepared. The service was knowledgeable and friendly.

We loved our condo! It was really clean and decorated with care. Everything you think you'd need, it was there! The bed was suuuuuper comfortable and so was the pull-out couch. The kitchen was gorgeous — remodeled in the last few years. There was a booklet with recommendations as far as what to do, where to eat, and what's what on the island — it was very nice that they gave some advice! The whole community was friendly and I couldn't think of a better place to stay. The beach was a two-minute walk away! And the price was reasonable when you compare with others in the area.

The unit I had was like walking back into 1985. It is at least 20 years overdue for some updating. At least it was clean and there was a partial ocean view. But airflow was not good and there is no air conditioning. Had to keep three fans running at high speed the entire time. The worst part, though, was after I checked in when they then informed me that the next day there would be scheduled maintenance inside my unit to install a cable conduit and new cable line. I said I was planning to be in the unit during the morning and they said they would make a note of that to come do the work in the afternoon. Instead, their cable provider turned off the Internet and TV service to the entire complex at 8:45am. So even though I had paid full price rent for the unit, I was forced to leave for a day so they could do scheduled maintenance. Bad management! IF YOU ARE SCHEDULING MAINTENANCE INSIDE A UNIT, THEN DO NOT RENT IT OUT FOR THAT TIME PERIOD! Complained at the front desk and got an "I'm sorry. "

Also, convenient drive (30-40min AT MOST) to sightseeing/hikes. Not only all this, but their staff is amazing. Our flight home wasn't until 11:30pm, but we still had all day after checkout at 11am to go to the beach/pool. They offered a hospitality room for showers before our flight! We were absolutely stoked and so thankful. Anyway, definitely recommend this resort. Kauai is such a beautiful island, already wanting to go visit again!

During the reservation process we reserved units near the beach away from the road for our family reunion. Upon arrival the front desk assigned us units next to the highway, not what we had reserved. Front desk could not provide us the units we had reserved. Issue was not resolved. We visit the Hawaiian islands once a year but will NOT stay at this resort again. Staff is nice but the reservation process has to change. A lot of money paid for not meeting our exceptions.

Stayed here due to work. Bad idea! The worst feature was no air conditioning! I was miserable for 90% of my stay. This island is 80+ degrees everyday with 65-75% humidity. What makes it worse is that rains almost everyday sporadically. Plantation style living? You can keep it. Had to move to another hotel that had air conditioning! Was told each room was separately owned and the association that runs the facility decided to have no a/c’s put in. I am amazed at how many people put up with this! Other resorts close by have better facilities and a/c! The novelty of staying in a plantation like atmosphere should have gone away with the invention of the a/c. Trust me views can only go so far until you realize you have no air conditioning. This place is best suited for those that think 80+ degrees is too cold.

What a beautiful place to stay we were staying in room 230 it was very well kept minus a broken Microwave. And the grounds are just beautiful.

Had a great time at this resort! It has easy access to the best beach I have ever been on (granted, this was my first time to Kauai), and very nice landscaping. Please note the condos are not air conditioned, which I did not fully realize until we got there. Our condo had updated appliances and granite counters. Beach gear in the condo itself was lacking, we would have realllly appreciated a beach umbrella. I suppose this could vary from condo to condo. Our condo was "ocean view", but we were about as far away from the ocean as I think you can get. We could still see it standing on our Lenai, but it was far enough away there was no way to fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Honestly, what made this place so great was having the beach right there. Great waves, great snorkeling, great surfing, it was kind of amazing. Plus the Poipu is kind of the best place to stay on the island, in my opinion.

The condos are nice and modern. Our family had four of the two level ones and they all were decent. They have a design that allows for breezes, so it was always comfortable. We were able to easily make our own food and really appreciated the grill outside. There are plenty of those. The gardens themselves are very cool too and we would hear mangos falling in the night. Even being away from the beach we could hear the waves at night too.

Our daughter was married there last night AND IT was the most AMAZING experience! We loved the staff, the resort was beautiful and the setting was outstanding. The landscaping was gorgeous as well.

Nice lawn, nice, clean units, no AC but the trade winds cool nicely. I like hearing the ocean through open windows. Our third time here, the beach in July was choppy because of storms to the south. I was chicken, so I went to the pool, which is across the street. My daughter and husband enjoyed the surf on boogie boards. Low key, family-oriented resort with propane grills, this feels very homey. An ocean view actually means an ocean view. Partial ocean view is less certain. First floor best for little kids or budding gymnasts.

The cottages are such a great place to stay. Previous "residents" have left many perks hidden in the closet, boogie boards, ice chests, chairs, etc… The best part is that if you are staying for multiple days, you can do some grocery shopping and make your own meals with the fully stocked kitchen. Not to mention the beach is amazing and Poi'pu could not be more beautiful. If you are looking to relax, Kauai is the place to be. Check out the local farmers market. We will be back.

Kamikaze workers in electric carts that you have to dodge. Had a couple close calls with getting run over. Security informing me of a noise complaint (understand, it happens). But, one of them proceeded to take pictures of me in my underwear while talking to me at nightnight and the other was incredibly rude. Unit had very weird electrical, some sockets worked and some didn't. Hot water was spotty in the shower. Parking is a huge issue for our building. Many contractors for the place parked in spots that made us have to park very far away. Grounds were beautiful though. Loved that they had an insane amount of barbecues everywhere. Never waiting in line or sharing them. Restaurant on premises was very good. Fish pond is nice.

We used a Costco package deal and were so happy with our stay! I had read reviews before we left, and was nervous because I guess I only read the bad reviews. We had a garden view room (really just a small field and a wall of non-blooming trees). The staff was friendly, and the room was better than we were expecting! Very clean (note the cleaning fee before you book! ). Full kitchen, and lovely afternoon sun on the lanai. The grounds were BEAUTIFUL. It was a bit of a walk to the beach, but we liked feeling like the community was more spread out. The pool and fitness area are off site (two minute drive or seven minute stroll), but the on-site beach hut was really convenient! Close to shops, tons of dining options, and sunny location. We will stay here again!

Great place, right on the beach. Parking outside some buildings may be difficult if full. Staff is friendly and attentive. No a/c but with shutters open, it's usually ok temp-wise. Windows open mean you can usually hear other guests, especially louder ones, whether you want to or not. Still a beautiful place!

Beach and gardens beautiful. We were stuck in a room up the back next to the noisy road. Room was in need of a good clean and update. Chairs rickety. Carpet felt dirty. Someone else's hair in the bathroom sink. Rust stains and grime in the bath tub. Kitchen ok. Bed ok. Disappointing given the price tag.

An OK place to stay. Nolaundry in unit, but convenient location and great beach.

Our ground floor unit was comfortable. No hassles with parking and there's convenient shopping and dining right across the street. The condos are well kept and the grounds are well maintained. There are high quality communal grills and the beach has good snorkeling opportunities. Beach access is convenient and the concierge was very friendly and helpful.

We have been to the Kiahuna Plantation 11 or 12 times. We always have a wonderful time. It is a destination to get plenty of relaxation, but still have the opportunity to be really busy if you choose. The rental units are individually owned, so there is a significant variation. Some have been updated, while … others not so much. I recommend it to anyone who would like to visit the islands.

We've been here twice as a couple and as a family, we love Kauai. The beach here has been eroded quite significantly over the last 10 years which is a shame but it's still a beautiful place. The accommodations are wonderful.

Lovely, peaceful place to stay. We were going to go back next year and stay for a month because we loved it so much, but after we had left I saw an "extra' charge on my credit card. At the time of check in, they charged us one rate on the condo, giving us a lower rate on 3 of the nights and then 3 days after we left the island decided to charge us more for those 3 nights, so added on and extra $225 on my credit card. Unfortunately for me, I had just thrown out my receipt for the condo the day before I saw the extra charges on my card. No receipt, no giving my money back. Seriously tho, who does something like that? Charge you one rate and then change it after you leave? Too bad for them, they just lost some amazing customers…

As others have mentioned, there is no A/C in the units, so you need to leave the windows open to let the breeze in. Unfortunately, as my wife and I learned on our last night, virtually none of the screens in our unit properly fit in the window frames. The wooden frames were starting to rot. Consequently, there were a lot of bugs in the unit… Going to sleep on a bed covered in gnats (and having them crawl over your face) is not relaxing. We also had a ton of mosquitos to deal with… We killed 20+ on our last night. The best thing about the place is the location. It's close to everything.

The grounds and beach are beautiful. However unit is old and worn (dirty rug, shutters off their hinges. And just a general aura of despair). Which is in juxtaposition to the surrounding environment. No AC is not compensated for by the glary positioning of the unit nor the telescopic view of the beach. Should rightly be a low-cost rental or be remodeled.

We really enjoyed our week here. It was great to have the option to make our own food, and there are all the amenities you need at this resort for a comfortable extended stay. It's quiet, and had access to the resorts on either side, as well as shopping and dining across the street. The resort's beech also has a huge grassy area for anyone tired of sand, and they rent beach supplies as well. We'll definitely come back next time.

This condo complex is a solid 3-4 stars. The condos are nice and the location is great with a quick walk to the beach. The services offered here are where it is lacking. Not all of the units have in-unit washer and dryers. We spent one day doing laundry which wasn't too bad. We stayed on they beach and then switched the laundry when we had to. It worked quite well, and if having to do laundry with coin operated machines means lower cost at the condo, I'm all for it! The other thing was the room cleaning. During our thirteen nights we had three room cleanings which were not included in the condo cost. That was the part that sucked. The surprise cost added at the end. That being said, we would definitely stay here again. It worked quite well for us.

Beautiful kauai but choose another accomodation for your vacation. Very expensive noisy and not so clean.

Stayed in an ocean view condo unit (#188). Unit had NO bathtub or A/C. There was no parking available within 200yds of our unit most times because general public parked there to use the beach and security didn't enforce the "guest parking only" signs. NO room cleaning or even towel/bed service at any point during the week we were there until we finally demanded it on our last full day. $75 room cleaning few charged to my credit card as soon as we checked in without our permission and despite our protests, with them saying it was normal operating procedure (we booked a package deal that stated there would be no resort fees) We came to Kauai to get married, and loved the island. If we'd let them, the Plantation would've ruined or trip — don't let them do it to you.

Service at the restaurant was the only good part about this resort. The pool closed two weeks before we got there, and no one gave us any notice. We showed up to a place I picked for the pool, and I had no pool. The beach has hardly any access, and it is completely rocky. Your feet cannot touch the floor or your feet with be destroyed. The condo was ok at best. We stayed at the Islander on the Beach for the first 4 nights, and we made a mistake by leaving. This place sucks. Also, no windows. So you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing. There are screens and blinds, but there are no windows that close. Our last two nights we did not sleep at all because of the screaming baby next door. We would have loved to block out the sound, but it was right outside of our windows that don't have glass. Also, being that far back from the ocean, there was no breeze and it was VERY uncomfortable. Esp at night. Horrible place.

We loved our stay at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation. We had a couple of "issues" throughout the week that we were there with a giant centipede and a few large cockroaches running through the unit but I guess some of that is to be expected in a tropical paradise. The grounds of the Kiahuna Plantation were beautiful and breathtaking. The amenities were awesome from the BBQs everywhere to the beach hut that provided free towels and chairs on their stretch of beach. The unit itself was spacious and accommodating. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it for anyone heading to Kauai.

Great spot! Good location. Right by a beautiful beach. Each apartment has a different owner, so each one is a little different. Great kitchen and layout. Open and fresh. Ask for Ocean Front ones.

Moved here after staying at another location in Poipu, while I felt safer here the accommodations were a downgrade. We felt like we were staying at a 1 Star motel with a kitchen. Unit 335 building 9, has not been renovated. The shower/tub covered in mold, shower door fell off one night, shower head was from 1980s, kitchen cramped, and TV in the bedroom was practically on the ceiling. Highlight was the lanai, nice view. No daily maid service. Pool area is across the road which wasn't convenient or lush. From the our condo we could hear the music across the street at night and was directly on Poipu Road, which has a lot of traffic. We booked through a travel agent who wasn't able to tell us the room # and location before checking in, so maybe you would have better luck than us if you book directly through the owner. Overall stay somewhere else.

Great condos, really nice to have a kitchen and living room and balcony. Would stay here again. Style and fixtures are a little outdated but thats not high in my list. Garden is really pretty. Beach in front is really nice, has a few rocks and fish swimmin around. 'Ocean view' nice but next time I think I would just get garden view. Room service not every day, fine w/ me.
