Review of Comfort Inn New River 2*

If I could give this Hotel a minus 20 million stars I would for the way I was treated this weekend. The story is so long it pains me to go over it again. But here goes I reserved my room because I was traveling to West Virginia from Virginia. I called and reserved the room and paid for the room at 5:40 p. M. Before I arrived so all she would have to do is take my card. Well after checking in I was told I would have to pay check cash because it wouldn't take my card. I am always afraid of card theft so I make sure I always have plenty of money on the card but not enough for thieves to go on a shopping spree (meaning room rental and incidentals) Never the less I paid cash for the room which was $221.76 plus $50 for incidentals. The clerk even said you might want to check on your card as I was going back to my room so worried about my card I immediately called the bank, and they told me that Comfort Inn Oak hill WV took there room fee at 5:40 pm which I knew but trusted the clerk so I immediately went back to the clerk with the bank rep on the phone telling the clerk that you all took the money so the room has been paid for. The clerk called the manager and told him what the bank told her. Then he told her to tell me that I would get my money back on my card in 5-7 business days. So basically they wanted me to pay cash and keep my money from the card. I asked to speak to the manager and he said just give her the cash back and she can leave without even speaking with me and the clerk said I could leave! Thank God I still had some money we went to the Holiday Inn and stayed. So from there I called what I thought was corporate office explained to the guy and he stated and I quote "what should have happened is she should have given you your cash back and gave you the keys the room because you already paid. So this man put me on hold to call the hotel I was on hold for about 20 minutes all for him to come back and say that they will send me my money in 5-7 business days, I the asked the clerk where corporate office located and he told me Phoenix Arizona, so I asked who the President of the company was and he said that he was not allowed to give that out because it was a secret? And he was not allowed to give that out. I then asked him was he in the U. S and he said yes I asked him was he in corporate and he said know. So I asked again are you in the U. S. And he then said no the entire time this call was on speaker so my husband could here. We both heard him say he was in the U. S. So needless to say I ended that call. I decided to join choice hotels membership since I travel a lot and the offer sounded great. I have stayed at several hotels and never have I ran into this problem or been treated so poorly. I went to the choice website and looked for someone to notify or any mission statement something is guest have a problem? I was so upset at the way I was treated this ruined my stay for the weekend I could believe how awful they were.
