Beautiful lobby, large comfortable rooms, nice price.

It is a historic building that is way past its heyday. It needs some serious renovation.
but besides that the hallway had a terrible sweat smell, the mattress where worn out. Wallpaper was peeling from the wall in our room. We found a dirty towel in our room and when it was brought to the clerk at the desks not even an apology was given.

This was a very disappointing visit. Friday night there was loud music and partying for hours. By 12:45 I had enough. I have to say they addressed the issue quickly. I had a 6 hr drive and desperately needed sleep. Then at 4:25 am someone returned from their night of partying and was pounding on their door for about 10 minutes until someone finally let them in.
This was a busy weekend for WVU and there was only one elevator working.

The front desk lady who helped me was most enjoyable to deal with, very friendly, super helpful and was a pleasure to work with! Don't remember her name but she was the redhead. My room was beautiful and this hotel is great. Definitely stay here! Highly recommend!

Beautiful historical property with old world charm and service. We were in town for a conference and stayed for 4 nights. We loved the hotel and Karen was our favorite front desk clerk. Very friendly and knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help us. An excellent experience overall. We did not want to leave. Also the beds and pillows are amazing, rooms clean, and parking a breeze and free.

Very nice stay overall. The lobby gorgeous and the rooms clean. The standout was service provided by Karen at the front desk. I loved the historic, grand atmosphere provided. It's in superb condition and beautiful to behold. The rooms were spacious and provided ample room for five adults to talk and socialize.

Morgantown is lovely place with rich history, and Hotel Morgan a gem. The lobby interior boasts walls with chunky woodwork and ceilings decked with chandeliers. The host was friendly and helpful. Our room was very roomy and the bed comfortable. The only downside to our stay was breakfast the next day. In fairness we came down to the mezzanine with about 10 minutes left of the breakfast serving time. We had just started choosing our items when the breakfast attendant asked us to move to tables in the dimly lit lobby outside the breakfast area. We accommodated her request, even though there was 5 minutes left until breakfast was over. We just thought it was bad form on her part. Other than that, it was a great place to stay.

Every employee I encountered was nice and attentive, but Karen was a stand-out. She recommended a few great out of the way restaurants and had a great smile and laugh! Room was clean and well-equipped, and spotless. The lobby, ballroom, and hallways give off a The Shining vibe, so cool! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful historic place, that’s why I’m giving 3 stars. Lobby has such ambience, rooms are huge. The view of this charming town was lovely from my room. But… Carpeting in the hallways upstairs could use some attention. Don’t let this landmark fall into disrepair. There was dust on my nightstand and desk like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Stains on my bed sheets. Tears in my blinds at the windows. Maybe it’s overwhelming to fix up the place. But please. The rooms can be cleaned. Check in was a dream but at check out, behind the front desk there were bags sitting in plain view, that looked like someone’s groceries, some filled with clothes. There were two large backpacks and something that looked sort of like a laundry basket travel thing made out of plastic filled with papers and other junk. Fast food drinks and cartons, paper plates on the front desk. That is unacceptable to be in the guest’s view.

The staff at the Hotel Morgan completely exceeded our expectations. Everyone was friendly and willing to help us whenever we needed. Matt at the front desk handled our check in and was wonderful. Excellent location too. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff at every level. The rooms were clean and comfortable. This was our first visit to Morgantown but not our last. 5 stars across the board.

Came with my aunt and sister. Awesome atmosphere of course in such a lovely building. Some of the friendliest staff, especially Karen at the front desk. The coffee in the lobby was phenomenal and I'm not a big coffee drinker. Parking is nearby and it's free. Will return for sure.

The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable about restaurants and bars in the area. The room was clean and comfortable. Only thing that I would suggest is a lighted sign, so you know you have arrived at the Clarion. We drove around the block 4 times until we realized where we were. I would def go back, and recommend this hotel. Last, I loved the historic look! :)

Kim Shelter is a client of ours who recently stayed at this property while on tour and performing in Morgantown. They were very happy to write how great the stay was! The room was perfect, clean and quiet. The location was excellent to downtown, and the restaurant was a great place to grab dinner before the gig. There was also a free breakfast before check out that was a perfect way to start the day!

This is one of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed at. Even the elevators had those old-fashioned operator kiosks, which obviously weren't in use but still there to showcase the history of the place. The furniture and decor were all indicative of a hotel with some serious age, but in a venerable sort of way. The lobby was so impressive with its glittering chandeliers and original furnishings. The rooms were large enough to almost be considered suites, and the view of Morgantown WV was spectacular. Our room overlooked the river and gentle slope of the town as it began to rise up the surrounding mountains. This city almost looks like a Dutch valley town, and it's beautiful from the perspective our room offered. Just about every room is going to have a view because of this hotel's location, by the way. Location is absolutely prime. Shops, bars, eateries and coffee houses are all within walking distance and there's no shortage of things to do or places to explore. 5/5, fantastic hotel.

Came for niece's graduation. So beautiful. Spacious rooms. Delicious food. Downtown location near everything. Free breakfast, free parking. The staff was superb, especially Karen, so helpful, so gracious.

As lovely a hotel as I've ever stayed. Very grand and classy. Beautifully appointed. It was like stepping back in time to one of the premiere hotels of the world. Classic yet really clean. Customer service was amazing and my room was huge. Red-haired lady at check in was superb, she also printed my tickets and opened my bottle of wine. I felt really welcome and would definitely recommend.

Hard to identify by driving down road due to lack of signage. Room was comfortable and large. Plenty of pillows and showers were nice and hot. Their gym is lacking many of the lower weight dumbbells. The parking is complimentary, but is a little bit of a walk. Good location enabling walking to local attractions.

We were at the hotel Monday night to ask about possibly having my wedding at the Hotel Morgan. The ballroom was being set up for a filming of something, and we were allowed to take a look. It's so beautiful! We talked to the lady at the front desk for awhile and she told us about the restaurant on the 8th floor, and how we could have our guests stay at the hotel, and now I have my heart set on planning my reception at the Morgan. It's exactly what I was looking for.

Immaculate lobby with old world charm, elegant rooms, views of the river, downtown, and the mountains. Room service is available from the stunning restaurant on the top floor that has an outdoor rooftop garden patio. Free Wi-Fi, free offsite parking, complimentary breakfast in the morning, complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. The price is more than fair, in fact a lot less than surrounding hotels. Karen at the front desk is a gem, she helped us with her corkscrew so we didn't have to go out and buy one. In fact every staff member we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. 5 stars.

Hotel is beautiful, a marvel really. I'm told it's a historical landmark. Wonderful staff, kind and accommodating. That's what makes a great hotel stay. Everything was also clean and fresh, free hot breakfast delicious. Easy free parking. An enchanting experience.

The hotel is lovely to be sure. The real cherry on the top is the staff. Super accommodating, taking the extra step to make sure everything is perfect, especially front desk Karen, who gave us a little peek into the ballroom with the two-story ceiling and told us about the history of the building when we inquired, then called us to make sure we were comfortable in our room, which was honestly large enough to be a mini-suite. Magnificent lobby, with real crystal glittering chandeliers, woodwork, marble, the original wrought iron railings, and the lobby bar is cozy and welcoming. Very upscale feel and I liked the service and attention received by those working there. Breakfast in the morning was good hot food (and free! ), and we left feeling nostalgic we could only stay one night.

Just a good little spot, the room I had was pretty large, old historic hotel, but very well taken care of, had no problems. The staff was extremely friendly, from check in to check out. Very nifty spot to stay, close to plenty of restaurants and bars.

It was charming and beautiful. Loved our adorable king room, the service was great at the front desk (Karen) and in the Lobby Bar. Alex (bartender) was great and fun. The Hotel Morgan should be listed as a 5-star hotel. The reviews about the parking are unfair — this is a downtown location and parking is free, private and right around the corner. Breakfast is free too, and I mean hot breakfast! Bacon and eggs, pancakes, bagels, hot and cold food. If you love historic places, this a must-stay.

Nice hotel — great customer service, but comfy rooms, inviting warm atmosphere. Within walking distance to almost everywhere I wanted to go.

Already willing to give it 5/5 and we just got settled into our room. Staff was very nice and accommodating with regard to our unexpected, late night request for a room. The hotel decor is beautifully historic and the bed is quite comfortable. And based on other reviews, I'm certain we will enjoy our breakfast in the morning!

This was the best find of our trip. We came for a weekend getaway and were blown away by the cozy atmosphere, the historic building, and superb service. Karen at check-in was especially a delight, she was helpful, efficient and a pleasure. Great that they have a full hot breakfast, something the last place we stayed while in Morgantown lacked. Will definitely tell all our friends about this gem.

I once again had the pleasure of staying at the Clarion Hotel Morgan in Morgantown, WV. One of the best selling points to this place is the building itself. A bit of a throwback to classic American buildings. The first floor is a gorgeous, classic looking lobby. The first floor also offers a fantastic workout room and a full bar that looks like something out of a classic movie. The rooms are huge and spacious. Very comfortable and welcoming. A couch and desk are set apart from the rest of the bedroom. The bathroom was clean and offered anything a guest would need. The breakfast they offered could not be beat. It just felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. The surrounding neighborhood is also a great selling point for the hotel. The neighborhood has a history all its own. There are plenty of great, reasonably priced places to eat. Also, a variety of cool novelty shopping options (comic books, antiques, etc. ) that can keep any shopper busy. Morgantown, WV. Is great and the Clarion Hotel makes it all the better.

Our room was nice, despite smelling faintly like smoke. There was a mix up and the front desk gave us room keys for a room other people were already in. We actually walked in on them getting dressed, which was embarrassing. The front desk was very apologetic and quick to fix the mix up. The only real complaint I would have is that where they told us to park, you weren't allowed to back into a space. This was not written anywhere and the man at the front desk did not tell us. We got a $7 ticket and the hotel was not in any way helpful or nice about it.

The front desk attendant was excellent. We were a little early and our room was not yet ready but they gave us a parking pass so we could walk around town. After we got to our room the front desk attendant called up to ask if everything looked alright and if we needed anything. The room was the size of a livong room with a couch and a TV and the bathroom was spotless. I try to stay at the Hotel Morgan whenever I'm in town.

This is not the fanciest hotel but the staff is great! Parking is free but it's not super close to the hotel entrance. The continental breakfast is very generous with a combination of hot and cold food. The location is central to the town and actually provides the best parking since you can park for free and walk to almost anywhere. The rooms are large and well equipped. The bathtub is a generous size. Good value for the price.

This is a great boutique style hotel located conveniently in downtown Morgantown. We stayed on a Friday night and the room was cozy and quiet. The front desk was super friendly giving us detailed info on the historic property and the housekeeping staff was very kind as well. They offer a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning that was loaded with fresh and delicious food. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're in Morgantown!

I have 2 requirements for a hotel; clean and well maintained. Given the age of the property — maintenance wasn't too bad. However, the room felt very dated and contributed to a general feeling of being dirty. The breakfast was good and saved this from being a 2 star review.

We have stayed here before several times and loved this place. Not this time. We were gone all day and our door was not just unlocked it was wide open. We called the front desk and counted 30 rings. No answer. Went to front desk. No one there had to wait. Apology obtained (what else could they do). Got back to room and toilet broken. Called the front desk and it again rang a long time and still no answer. This will be our last stay at this place. It has gone from great to the dogs. Sad, really.

I stayed in room 314. It is said to be haunted by a young girl who drowned in the tub. The light in the bathroom was red for added suspense. No real surprises though. Not sure what they're keeping behind this unnumbered door with two door handles. It's really a beautiful hotel given its aged architecture. As far as I know, it's the only hotel in Morgantown city limits. Parking isn't far but it's not next to the hotel. There is plenty of it though. The hotel is a mere couple blocks away from the bars and other nightlife.

This is a really cool old building with spacious guest rooms. Kevin at the front desk was polite and very helpful at all times. The complimentary breakfast was a nice mix of hot and cold items, including cereal, milk, juice, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, waffles, muffins, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The hotel is conveniently located with easily accessible parking almost directly across the street. There's a small art museum right next door, with oodles of shops, restaurants, bars, taverns, and cafes within easy walking distance (if you don't mind hills! ) I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a one of a kind experience. First off, it is a historical landmark of Morgantown and they have kept up all it's quirky beauty. From the neon "Hotel Morgan" sign on the top of the hotel to the beautiful chandeliers in the lobby, this hotel is entirely unique. Everything down to the elevator has historical beauty. During our stay there was also a free performance for everyone staying in the hotel, it was a steel drum performance. This was the only time I have stayed in a hotel with that kind of fun experience offered. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the heart of downtown, around many great restaurants and shops. Attached to the hotel is a restaurant and bar as well. Our room was spacious and had every amenity that we could need. A couch, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hairdryer. The bathroom was clean and fresh. All of the doors are original and it gives an interesting feel to the whole room. The bed was comfortable, clean and had plenty of pillows to choose from. They offered free breakfast with many different choices. The Wi-Fi was efficient and worked quickly. There are vending machines throughout the hotel. This is a quirky experience and for the traveler or adventurer, this is a must stay.

Conveniently located in downtown Morgantown. Continental breakfast is so-so. Interior of the hotel is a bit old. Parking is a challenge — it is like off-site. You have to walk a block to access it and at night it is quite dark there.

Rooms are nice size and clean. Beds are somewhat firm but tolerable. Overall, the hotel could use a little renovating. The off-site parking situation is a bit of an inconvenience. There should be a valet service offered to solve that problem.

This hotel was magnificent! I absolutely loved out it was right in the middle of the great down town area but yet once up in my room I was able to relax and unwind. I found the classic vibe to be very welcoming as well as the staff. The hotel was very clean, and I really liked the lay out of my room, I have everything I needed in an arm's reach. I will say I don't a nice bar being in the lobby either. I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in the area!

I'm writing this review through the Google Opinion Rewards program. Overall, the Clarion Hotel Morgan was great. The price was fair, the room was comfortable and spacious, and the atmosphere was peaceful. The parking situation is a bit odd (surface lot one block southeast of the hotel), and the breakfast buffet was a dud (almost completely picked clean by 9:15 and being dismantled by 9:40, despite the signs on the wall saying it lasted until 10:30), but other than those hiccups, good experience.

This was the most wonderful stay that we have had in a while. We loved the historic hotel. The beautiful lobby and ball room were breathtaking. The room was large and comfy. There was an excellent view of downtown and it was in walking distance from a lot of fun bars, restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. We walked down to the river and even though the weather was chilly we really enjoyed exploring the community. The top floor restaurant and bar downstairs both had excellent selection and quality of food and drinks. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was well stocked and delicious. There was a faint smell of mold in the work out room because I think there was a leak or burst pipe recently and the computer room was missing computers? Other than that I loved everything about our stay.
