Really cute place! It's a bit rustic, so if you need everything to be new and sparkling clean, it's probably not the place for you. But it's very sweet and homey, and the room we stayed in was right on the beach. Super nice staff, too.

Room was not the same as photo online, had old school tube TV that did not work. We rented 3 of the 2 bedroom rooms with kitchens, 2 of 3 rooms we saw rats in them. Out toilet did not we work in one room, re requested a refund the first night, and were told we could only get 10% off. So we had to stay for 2 extra nights, everyone else was booked. The breakfast sucked as well. The staff was friendly though.

I stayed in a Tyee Queen suite and it was nice. The room was clean, ocean view was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfortable but the couch was not. The shower didn't have hot water, just lukewarm and they don't provide shampoo, conditioner etc. I liked the trail leading to the beach, about a 5 minute walk.

What a great little place you're able to bring your dog. The inside of our Room was exactly like a Cabin. Could hear the ocean see the beautiful waves. Incredible breakfast in the morning. Very good place if you have animals! I really loved how I had an (actual) key and a regular phone with a phonebook it was like being in a time machine. Would highly recommend.

Not the prettiest place, but very accommodating with friendly staff. Short handed, but very relaxed which makes for a relaxing experience. Pet friendly lower level room. My only issue is they don't offer that information over the phone. You have to know what you are looking for when making a reservation.

When we went to check in, they had screwed up our room. We were supposed to have a sliding glass door, double sinks, a couch, and a fireplace. Our room had none of that. Since we had a third person who needed to sleep on the couch, we went back to talk to the blonde lady who checked us in. She was very rude. I understand human error happens and there is nothing you can do when all the rooms have booked up before the mistake was discovered, but she acted like it was OUR fault and told me to "just sleep on the floor". Maybe if I was a kid or teenager. Instead I spent the weekend barely able to move and in pain because my spinal trauma flared up. Not even an apology for the mistake, or the fact that I was going to be in quite a bit of pain/was in pain. Just plain rudeness all around… I will never come back here. This place has seriously gone downhill!

We took grandchildren for spring break. This will be last time EVER we will visit this hotel! First of all there are NO hot tubs as advertised " taken out last September" according to staff. There is nothing we can do for you was their answe9 for any problem. The staff freely said how unhappy they were and that many employed have left. Then 1st day our toilet plugged, we then waited 1&1/2 hrs so they could run to hardware store to buy a plunger!?! Really!?! A hotel this size and no plungers!. Just rundown place. How about running down your rates to match quality of it and not use false advertising to keep rates up.

We booked at The Sands Resort so the kids could swim in the pool during our stay. Our first impression upon driving up was how old and run-down the building was. Upon check-in, the receptionist informed us that the pool was broken, and wouldn't be fixed until the next day. We explained the importance of the pool, and how disappointed the kids would be. She was stone-faced and unapologetic. We asked if there was anything she could do to compensate us for this extreme disappointment. Her answer… "nope". In fact, she couldn't even reduce our rate by $3 so we could benefit from a lower rate than what we had booked. She blamed the new owners, the new computer system, and said we could take it or leave it. She didn't smile once. Since the booking was done through another source, and it was the day of our stay, we did not qualify for a free cancellation, so we continued with the reservation. We left with our keys, but called our booking source, and they got involved. When they called the hotel, a new receptionist told them that the pool was not broken. We returned to the hotel, saw guests swimming, and talked to them… the pool was never broken. It turns out, the first receptionist just didn't want to go back and forth between the hotels two offices to open the pool for us. Our online booking source was able to cancel our stay at The Sands, and book us into a much better and cheaper hotel with a working pool and friendly staff.

No hot tubs! New owners shut them down and will be making a sauna? Uavent updated their amenities. I primarily came here for the private hot tubs that are no longer in service.

Nice people, very helpful. Room was good and comfy, had a little kitchenette, but worked great for my husband and I and all our fur babies. Beach was a 10 minute walk.

Such a great experience here in ocean shores! I love the view and the quiet. Will be back.

This place is too expensive and all beds, furniture are old and dirty. Television still the old fashioned picture tube and not much choices to watch except local channels if you're stock in your room. Windows are one pane and you can hear and feel air coming in to both door and windows, carpets are filthy. I check under the bed, sure enough there is dog chew toys, chips and candy wrappers under it. Oh be careful of bedbugs, there is signs of it under. So we end up forfeited our money for not staying at all. Sickening.

This place was always our family’s go to get away. Always friendly always clean always reasonably priced. Our last stay was ridiculous, the toilet was leaking water all over floor! Was told someone would come and fix it, no one ever did after asking twice. Window in bathroom was loose so all night long in made knocking noises which kept us awake. Also room was freezing! After telling staff at checkout that we would probably never come back the reply we got was “you and so many others “

It's been 10+ years since I've been to the Sands Resort last time and it has changed a lot since then. Their was some nice rustic touches in the decor. But unfortunately It has gone downhill these last several years and it's upkeep is entirely overdue. Theirs a lot of moss on the roof, windows, walls and sills. A lot of damaged wood paneling everywhere you go. Carpeting needs to be replaced. The staff was very nice though and I heard it's going to go thru an overhaul, I hope so, this place could be so nice again.

Experience in room 117: exposed and badly stained box spring, stained carpet, holes in bed spread, lamp missing lamp shade, drawers with broken knobs, smells horrid, and we could hear everything the upsairs guest did (walking around, snoring, talking, rolling in bed). Pool needs work, stained and peeling paint. Game room also needs work. Both hot tubs broken. My advice: spend the extra $40 to stay at a nicer/cleaner hotel.

It's old and outdated however it's affordable and somewhat clean.

Was very laid back and staff was great! The place is in real need of updates however… clean and cozy still though!

There were bugs in the bathtub, gum on the nightstand. The room had a musty smell. Toilet seat didn't stay up for my husband. Drafts through the window and front door. The heater barely worked. Went to go and talk to the front desk regarding this there was no one at the front desk. As I was waiting someone else came up. Waited more than 10 mins for someone. Ended up calling the phone number and someone asked are you sure your at the right hotel. I assured her I was. Office staff rude. Finally someone came and talked to me about the heater barely working. Offered to move us to another room. I have heart condition and asthma. I cant keep moving from room to room. But was also told all the others are the same. It was 40 degrees out. They should have had the heaters on in the rooms that they knew would be occupied that night. We arrived 20 mins early and were told if I check you in now we will have to charge you a early check in. She did say the room was ready for us. So we had to leave and come back 20 mins later. We went the next morning to see if we could have gotten a discount as we had to sleep with our pants and sweatshirts on. They refused. Never going back again. I would recommend you don't either! If they had a negative I would check negative 5.

Nice get away, no AC but they allowed dogs. Pool was cold but hubby loves that. Good view on second floor.

Indoor pool that is heated is nice, and game room. My toddler liked a lot. Bathtub in room great to have, and clean room. Microwave and fridge, and coffee maker. Big windows facing the ocean that we enjoyed. Not enough electric plugs in the room. Have to move the coffee maker to the bathroom to be able to use and had to charge our devices in the bathroom. No hangars for clothes, only two hooks on the bathroom door. Free breakfast was good. Hotel a bit run down on the outside but it's a good value. Would stay again.

The rooms are nicer than the exterior would lead you to believe. The continental breakfast is decent. The walk to the beach is a bit adventurous, but it is accessible. The staff was extremely friendly, and didn't mind a tourist questions. Overall, a decent place to stay.

Nice hotel! Big two bedrooms, dining room, nice bathroom! Nice outdoor pool (which is right in front of our room) nice indoor pool with heated jacuzzi and sauna room! Service is VERY helpful, we will be back soon!

We had a great time. Nice selection for the continental breakfast. They had two hot tubs that you had to wait for a key to get into which was nice that means it wasn't going to be bombarded by a bunch of kids. The accept dogs, rooms head of forest Bear theme which I thought was kind of odd 4 at the beach. And you can tell they were Remodeling and had not finished a lot of the little things in the room. No screans on the windows.

So much to say! Lacking furniture (table with chairs), a coffee table, or 2 side tables! Lovely big room but with no place to eat or play games! Or watch the spectacular sunsets! Just standing in front of the window! Not enough drawers for clothes, only 2 available, for two people, for a week stay. Crazy! Bed was fine actually very comfortable! End tables there were very nice! Sink faucets were hard to operate! Very different from the ones we all normally have.

Don't stay here!. The toilet in the suite did not work. We were given a plunger to use for the night. The hot water ran out mid shower. The manager said she would reimburse us but never did. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Horrible customer service I should of never checked in. Lady at front is rude as ever. I know how to take care of my dog u don't need to grill my about her barking. I've trained my dog very well.

On first entering office ladies always are bad d do not serve well, second they charged $220 when on the Internet were 208, we never had room service, dan 20 min for the jacuzzi and ask key very grossly, if the entire hotel aunq is rustic to my way d view is not d best created q never would return to this hotel don't waste your time or money to come here.

When we first got there the lady at the front desk was extremely unfriendly and didn't have the best attitude. She looked at me like I was bothering her for coming in there. I had made a reservation and they had overbooked their rooms so me and my 20 month old daughter had to sleep in a smoking room. They weren't friendly, not accommodating, and rude. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for someone with kids… or if you like to be treated with respect. ps. The Wi-Fi doesn't reach the rooms… also the TV's are fuzzy they may as well be black and white.

After going to the sands twice with no issues and then to return hating my experience and overall the hotel I will not return again. When I called to make a reservation the woman I talked to told me my room would cost $79 and that was regular price, then when I got to the hotel and was checking in the price was $110 I found this out after they had swiped my card and took all my information. I asked for a refund and the woman in the management building whom had not provided good customer service, she told me that I would have to wait till the next day to get my refund and that I wouldn't receive my money from 7-8 Business days. At this point I was so upset and didn't want to wait a week to possibly get my money back so I left the office and went to my room when I got in the room things just got worse. The room smelt like an old folks home, the not even opened toilet paper was wet as if someone had dropped it in the toilet water and then set it on the top of the toilet. Then when I went to unpack my bag me and my boyfriend noticed a couple of short black hairs on the pillows that looked like a couple of dog hairs. I was disgusted. After we came back from dinner to the room I decided to take a shower and realized yet again another problem the shampoo and conditioner was half used by the previous people before us. Then when we went to go to bed me and my boyfriend put down towels over the pillows to protect us from the unknown hair of another person.

Mind you I tend to avoid The Ritz. So, the five stars are for the important folk. The middle class, or what's left of us. This place is special. Great counter people, sweet housekeepers, amenities, plenty of bars and restaurants walking distance. My favorite nuances were the mounted stuffed animal moose on the wall and the painted-on picture window of a pristine brook running through the woods. Hilarious! Also, my room was tasteful and clean. To quote the gross old Governator, "I WILL BE BACK! "

Do your self a favor and dont rune your hole vacation by staying here the bed was horrible didnt sleep for two days would have changed hotels but it was a holiday weekend so not much to do.

Its really bad they won't let paid customers have a nice experience at the pool cause kick them out!

The only thing I liked about it was it was a get away from home. I reserved a 2 bed room which they told me was 149$ per night, not one person but multiple people that work there told me that same exact price. I go to check out and the receipt said 169$ per night and they wouldn't even refund me the additional 20$ extra that they charged per night. The office lady was rude every encounter with her, and I'm almost positive she was the manager. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, I have stayed in hole in the wall hotels better than that… Waste of money.

The only reason I selected 1 star was because I had to pick one. This hotel has gone down hill bad… The rooms were OK, decor falling apart … The In door heated pool was NOT heated, my children's lips were blue with in 5 min of being in it. Their breakfast was junk and they ran out of most of the items buy the next morning, Their free Wi-Fi does not reach the bedrooms, they ran out of towels but yet had a over flowing garbage can next to pool full of dirty towels that they were to lazy to wash. The TV in the room was old and had 7 channels and most of them did not come in very well either. We were there for 4th of July 2015 and I will never bring my family their again. We were on 3rd floor and there wasnt even any screens on the windows even after requesting them, I got none and I have a 2 year old… Not safe… Worst money ever spent…

It may not be the nicest hotel in town, but it is absolutely the best value, especially for larger groups or families. Friendly staff, indoor and outdoor pools, and Continental breakfast included.

For the price it's the best in ocean shores.

I had a very poor experience at this resort. The bed was hard, like sleeping on a board, you can hear people outside opening and closing their car doors, they must not clean the couches because my dads had went between the cushions and felt something. It was someones baby lips lip gloss! EWW. I couldn't have the heaters on at night because they made my throat swell. The arms of the couch had NO cushion and all you could feel was the frame of the couch. Very uncomfortable. Also, even with curtains/blinds closed it was still very bright in the room because of all the lights they have on outside. There should be better shade to block out the light. I stayed here two nights and barely slept because of the bed and the light. I came home and took a 2 hour nap and fell asleep early because I was so tired. Worst place to stay and I do NOT recommend this place to ANYONE.

We were pleased with the spacious room, we brought two big dogs. The kitchen had everything we needed. Bed was comfy. It was a snowy January day and we received a two for one rate on the room. We will go back.

Very Clean, I was told each and every room has a different look, This one had a Queen Great bed and the dresser was in the closet and kitchen is all good has everything you need even paper towels and dish soap dishes silverware pots and pans. The bathroom wow so small you get a sink toilet shower all within 4-5 feet the heaters are wall base and in the bathroom right behind the door your clothes will be nice and warm. The living area is quite nice the furniture is clean but don't sit to long oops there goes the back pain. The Fire Place so beautiful for looks no heat there. Patio two small chairs and a wood home made table very creative. The Ocean is it on your door step. Very Friendly people and sweet for my birthday a bottle of apple cider and a couple of plastic wine glasses. Great service for when you want to replace the sheets. At least you don't have to walk down a few long halls to get to your room. Now breakfast was in the next building over and ice was in the next building the other way. Now the Pool was nice size and the hot tub was a good size the play room was nice and the breakfast well if you like breads and juice and for protein boiled eggs and milk its all good. Don't aspect a HOT breakfast unless you warm up a bagel. The stairs are safe there is only 10 steps or so to the second floor the parking lot well lets say don't rush out it would hurt. Frieda the lady that booked are room Sweet and listens very well. If you are looking for FANCY well this is It.
