We had our annual girl's weekend and the rooms are great. We stayed in the two room suite with three beds. The housekeeper (female) was very nice & friendly. The young lady who runs the breakfast was very polite & nice. We had a few issues but Lisa/manager the manager took care of it. This hotel will be considered on our next girl's trip.

A little old and rough around the edges, but well-cared-for. Breakfast was good with all the hot hotel breakfast standards. Spacious kitchens beg for larger tables to take advantage of the space. Older design means that outlets are few and far between in the bedroom part, but plentiful in the remodeled kitchen area. Perfectly positioned for all Williamsburg attractions.

Stay at your own risk! The front of the building and common areas all appear to be nice and updated. The rooms did look similar to the photos online but once you get to the back of the building it's very much run down including the rooms. One of our beds looked like it had been slept in and made over. It had a random hair in it as well as stains on the sheets and mattress pad. We called down to the front to get clean sheets of course we had to get them ourselves and make the bed ourselves. While I was down there the front desk worker mentioned the room was vacant and she just changed the sheets yesterday. Which was a surprise to me. If the room was vacant why would you have to change the sheets? The sheets we received as a replacement had stains on them as well. The next day when we came back to the room from a long day of touristing basic cleaning like taking out trash, turning down beds, and replenishment of fresh towels and wash cloths was too much to expect. I called to the front desk and was told they had no idea why it wasn't done they were unaware of the schedule. On the outside the railings had dust caked on from being kept up. There had been a trash bag that sat on the top of the stairwell the entire duration of our stay. Found a roach in the hallway on the way to breakfast this morning. I have no idea why this place has 3 stars. Best Western had 2.5 which is why we decided to stay here.

This hotel is a dump! It is very worn inside and outside. The rooms are dark and nasty feeling. The water does not get hot. I found someone's long black on the on the sheet under the comforter. The kitchen had one fork, one plate, one cup and a table with mixed matched chairs. For some reason the door to the room was open when we got there. The elevator got stuck for a few seconds then started to move again. They gave us another room but it was not better than the first one. The wall behind the front door had a big unfinished plastered spot and along the side of the wall, the floor was buckled and raised, I am guessing from some sort of water damage. The best thing about the stay was how quickly they refunded our money so we could leave. Horrible!

It's ok. Cheap. Nothing fancy. Everything seems clean. Don't really like the foam mattresses. And the pool was too cold to use. But rooms are really big. Obviously two normal rooms they took the wall between down and converted to suites. Breakfast was ok. Only hot things were oatmeal and waffles, but everything tasted good.

I appreciate how attentive the owners and staff are to their guests. The location is great, close to Busch Gardens. Free hot breakfast while I was there as well. It's very spacious and lots of local things to do. Go karts, Bounce House, laser tag, Patrick Henry Mall, and of course tons of places to eat. My kids and husband enjoyed Yankee Candle company. I loved their retro candy, toys, and Hershey's icecream.

This is actually one of my favorite places. Unfortunately, as much as we stay here and as often (2-3 weeks at a time, 2+ times per year) I feel like we pay way to much. We also recommend this place to our co-workers. Which in effect brings them upwards of 10 more rooms being rented for 2-3 weeks. That's quite a bit of money, coming from one company, all at one time. Ironically we found out that a couple of the hotels are offering our company extreme discounts for just the reason I listed and found out after we paid the 500+ from a staff member. Litterally half the rate. Don't get me wrong, I love this hotel, but doesn't loyalty and referral business count for anything anymore?

My family and I had a fantastic stay here. We were here due to our water heater being busted and our pets were allowed for free as well! Front desk was very helpful and room extremely tidy! Will recommend family here when visiting.

DO NOT STAY IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN OR PETS! This past weekend my boyfriend, son and I stayed at 814 Capitol Landing Rd in Williamsburg, Virginia. My son, who isn't quite 2, was crawling around when I noticed he was reaching for something under one of the beds. I immediately got up and grabbed him but he had already put something in his mouth. As I attempted to get whatever it was out, he began to spit out a yellow type liquid and whatever it was had already either been swallowed or dissolved. I panic of course and start looking around the area where he grabbed it. In that area I found a pink pill which looked like a benedryl. That made me even more upset and worried. We took my son to the local ER and luckily he was fine and they told us to keep an eye on him. We went back to the hotel and the lady said she would file a report. She also made copies of the medical paperwork where he was seen and told us to get in contact with the manager. We went back to the room and the next morning we checked out and went home. The following day my boyfriend called the manager. He offered no refund for the horrible and emotional trouble we went through. The only thing he said was we needed to contact his insurance which we never received any information on. What if my son would have taken something that could have killed him? We were lucky but the next child or pet might not be. They obviously do not clean the rooms as good as they should or they would have removed those pills.

We didn't even stay here because it was so horrific. I booked this place for a trip with my husband and daughter. We got to the room and it was dark inside so I went and opened the shades and to my horror there was a mirror in place of the window! There was one small window that overlooked the indoor pool, but no natural light. It was so so off putting. There were also huge water stains all over the ceiling and the carpet was pulling up in places. I'm actually not at all picky about hotels and only stay in budget places, but this was too much for me!

Nice rooms, spacious, nice beds, nice location.

Creepy and dingy. Needs a solid refresh badly! Paint chipping, staining from leaks or something on walls in hallways and in room. Bathroom old and stained. Stains in the bed comforter. Left over dog food on the floor of the kitchen in our room. Will certainly not be returning.

Where to begin on this review. Room had two HVAC units only 1 worked. Keep in mind it was 35 degrees outside the night I staid at this hotel. The stairwells was down right filthy. The indoor stairs had awkward ramps that someone of my height (6ft) could not walk up without hitting their head. But also was not super head to walk around. There was paint peeling everywhere. Basically take your $50 and go stay at a Motel 6 you will get better accommodations there.

Nice place. Could use a little updating but still pretty nice. Nice indoor pool area with some games as well. Decent little exercise area and work out room. Very good free hot breakfast included every morning plus free coffee all the time. Close to historic area and all area attractions. Would recommend th is place when in the area.

Room was clean, front desk people were extremely helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. Only complaint is the the indoor pool wasn't heated like I thought it would've been. 5 stars.

We were bumped from our room at the SpringHill Suites, so they arranged this room for us and covered the charge. We arrived around 1:00am. The guy behind the desk was very friendly. But when we got to our room, there was a something that looked like a dry blood going down the length of the door handle/lock ensemble. I doubt it was actually blood, but it looked like it. Whatever it was, it needed to be clean. We got inside and got an overall vibe that this place was not clean. At first I thought my initial feelings were just because the room was dated furniture wise. After a few minutes and after noticing some dirty things, my wife started pulled the sheets back to see orange dots on the mattress. I have no idea if that is evidence of bed bugs, but it looked similar to pictures I saw posted online of bed bug traces. There was a hair on the toilet seat (but I have seen that at other hotels), ripped up carpet, spots on the headboard, and other signs of a room that hasn't had a solid cleaning in a long time. It was bad enough that after 45 minutes, we decided to find a room at a nearby Holiday Inn, despite it being 2:00am.

They get 5 stars for the staff more than anything else. They are great! They've treated us like family and we love this place for it!

How bad? Well, I paid in advance but checked out early anyway. That bad! The hotel is quite old and rundown. The lobby and hallways smell of stale pets and their excretions. The layout is extremely odd and exhaustive. We stayed at the end of a very long hallway on the third floor. Each floor has multiple levels separated by 2-3 steps. Each level has 3-4 rooms on either side of the hall. I do not know why this is but it is on every floor. Each level is separated by a few steps and a wooden, carpeted ramp that sits in the middle of the mini staircase and leaves about 18 inches of space on either side of the ramp to walk on. If there was ever an emergency this layout seems deadly. We descended 4 levels to get to our room. It was a ridiculous distance from the elevator and although we later found another​ elevator closer to our room, it was the same reverse trek upwards the same distance through a different hallway leading to the lobby. The room has a full kitchen. That was interesting. Large room with a full size fridge & freezer, 2 burner stove, microwave, sink, 1980's table w/ 2 chairs and full sized dishwasher. The decor is outdated. Pieces of the headboard peeling off. One trash can in the whole room, no liner. Very Low-flow toilet that would not flush. I called the desk but maintenance never arrived. I had to dress and walk that crazy long hallway down to the lobby to use that restroom which was horrid. The toilets were filthy with what previous users had left behind.

From New Jersey, my sister and I drove to Virginia Beach from Friday-Sunday morning. We wanted our last day to be in Busch gardens so we drove about an hour and a half back to Williamsburg and checked into the mainstays on August 27, and left our bags to go to Busch Gardens. At first glance this hotel was decent. The morning staff was also decent. We got back around 1030pm from Busch gardens. Went upstairs to our room, and started to get ready for bed. My sister, as she always does, pulled back the sheets of the mattress to make sure there are issues. As she pulled it back, there were dozens of blood tiny blood spots. (This means bed bugs) we then checked the other mattress, more blood spots all over. We immediately grabbed our things and went downstairs to the front desk. We told the woman, who was then talking to one of her friends, that we can not stay here, because we saw signs of bed bugs. Her reaction was insane. She acted as if we had created a problem, when we politely mind you, mentioned that we would not be saying that night. She said well I'll check you out and you can call back in the morning to speak to the manager. She did not even offer an apology. Now as normal people would, we spent majority of our money on fun activities and had to drive 6 hours back to NJ. We took pictures of the mattress and will never be staying at a Mainstays again in our life.

This place is awful. Is I'd disgusting and dirty. Some outlets and lights didn't work, the elevator was broken, the whole place is dirty and falling apart. The dining area for breakfast was by far the worst. The food was barely edible and even if it was you lost your appetite looking around the dirtly room you were eating in. Do not stay here. You could find a motel for half the price that would probably be cleaner and in better shape than this.

An older hotel and the rooms showed it. The breakfast was excellent and the suite feature helpful when traveling with children. The pool area has air hockey, pool table, and a putting green, which is fun. However, my children didn't want to swim in the pool because they could see hair balls on the bottom. It was very convenient to tourist attractions in Williamsburg, but with so many other choices of hotels, I won't stay again.

The hotel has very friendly staff, is clean, and is inexpensive. Our room had a kitchen and everything worked and so was convenient and we ate more affordably. The breakfast has short hours but most everything you'd expect including my favorite: a large waffle maker and one that made 4 mini waffles at once. That said this is an older hotel and inexpensive. This is evident in the decor, structure and details. But since clean and staff friendly,, we're thinking about moving an upcoming stay to here — mainly because of the kitchen and price outweighs it's age.

Clean overall. But only as soon as you arrive. 100% no room cleaning service. We stayed four nights. No-one ever cleaned the room despite of our requests every single day. No-one removed the trash even. If you plan to stay here with kids, carry your vacuum cleaners, soaps, shampoos And even towels unless you can run down And get them yourselves. And please dont go by the photos posted here. We stayed in two bedroom suite. It had one restroom which was smaller than our powder room at home. Only thing we liked was morning breakfast as the breakfast lady was quick, warm and welcoming.

This place was terrible! Staff was decent but it was a dump! I would never recommend this place, it needs to be bulldozed and rebuild from the ground. The maintenance and housekeeper dont speak english, our A-C was broke, we were moved to another room, condom wrappers outside the bldg. The hotel is under renovation,,, TV doesn't work in the eating area, the worst thing I hated was that the rooms were very musty smelling, this place is not a place to stay to relax, plus the A-C units in the hallway, most of them were broke. I do not recommend this hotel!

This is the best way to get from DC to Outer Banks. You stay here at night since it is the half way point. This avoids all the traffic without having to get up at 4 am. Here you get up and have breakfast free. Then it is smooth sailing to the Outer Banks on the 4th of July Holiday. Staff is nice. I like having the Fridge for my snacks the next day driving. Mostly Matilda my dog likes it as well,

Clean rooms, friendly staff, great hotel.

Do not stay here. Me, my husband and 2 y. O. Baby arrived late at night from NY and got a room very dirty. But the worse it was the smell. We couldn't stay in the room and nobody could help us. Or to clean the room or to give us a cleaner room. We had to leave. Would rather to sleep in my car than in that filthy room. We have been in another's La Quinta and none of them compared to this crappy place.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. After checking in, I arrived I'm my room which had dirty towels on the floor and the bed had been slept in. I returned to the front desk and explained what I had walked into in the room. The man questioned me and said, "Really? " As if I had made it up or something. When he was giving me keys to a another room, he said, "This room shouldn't have any problems, but I'll go up first and check. " If the rooms were marked as clean, the front desk agent should have to check them before hand. On my way to the second room, I started noticing all the dirt and grime on the carpet, not to mention the ramps that were on the stairs that had carpet ripping up off of them. The second room hadn't been slept in (anything least it wasn't visible), but it was definitely not satisfactory. It was late and I had to get up early, so I just felt with it. The carpet had a few wet areas, which had a pee smell, so needless to say I kept my shoes on when I wasn't on the bed. The desk had a sticky film on it. The towels were under the exposed p-trap under the sink, hopefully there wasn't any leaks. The door wasn't fitted and installed correctly, so there was light coming around all four sides. The back of the bathroom door had a few holes, I suspected from unsuccessful attempts at hanging a towel hook (note: even with all the holes, there was no hook, so my towel and clothes had to be placed on the sink counter out of the bathroom).

No natural light since the room overlooks a conference room, two burnt out light bulbs, and a duvet that looks like someone chewed on it. Breakfast also ends at 9 but no one told us that during check in. The lock on the door was broke and also found other people's hair in the shower.

Our family stayed here last week and they offer an indoor pool but, it's so cold, your family can not use it. I feel like if you have an indoor pool, then you should have it warm enough to swim in. I would not stay here again.

When we pulled up we noticed the hotel looked old. We stay out La Quinta's all over the place. This hotel room was dusty, food particles on the floor and dresser. There was chipped paint, the heater looked like it was 100 years old. We didn't even want to put our stuff on the bed. Very dark and old looking. The bed spreads and curtains looked like they were from the 1970's. We ended up leaving and going to another cleaner, newer hotel.

It's a place to sleep it's old and in need of a update. The a/c took forever to cool. The check in girl was by far not the friendliness person.

I stayed here one night, they gave a room with a old TV, without curtain in the shower, and with outlet broken, It was a uncomfortable night.

Super clean, large rooms with flat screen tv's, speaker phones, clock/radios, hair dryer, micro/fridge, iron and ironing board, Wi-Fi in rooms and also a computer center available for guests where you can print and fax if needed. Rooms are well stocked with towels, soaps, bedding etc. Beautiful, clean, warm, indoor pool, very nice work out room, one hole mini golf and shuffle board. If you're traveling with pets, the hotel is surrounded by what is left of a wooded forest that lines the large parking area. It's a nice place to walk pets. My kitties love it! And during our stay there have been many, many dogs around but I never step in or even see poop outside. They keep the grounds exceptionally clean as well. This is a great hotel.
