ETA: I was told at checkout that this would be brought to management's attention. I assumed it had been, but I really appreciate the owner's prompt response, and it sounds like it was not brought to his attention. Glad to see this is taken seriously. The owner contacted us directly to make things right. Based on the many positive reviews, I am hoping it was just an off day for the campground. I added two stars for management's response and the fact that he addressed it with his staff. The staff was helpful, friendly and welcoming. The playground was nice and my children had fun on it. I didn't use the campground restroom as we were in a cabin, but they looked to be clean and in really good shape. I really wanted to give a higher rating, but the conditions in our cabin are what merit the lower rating. The futon cover in the living room, where my children slept, was covered in white smears, dark stains and it was dirty looking in general. The mirror in the bedroom had crusty chunks dried on it and greasy smears and smudges all over it. The headboard of the bed was white upholstery, and it had black smudges, smears and handprints on it. One of the pillows in the bedroom had dirt smudges on it, and yellow stains. There was hair in the bed. Underneath the bed was full of dead bugs and a piece of a food wrapper. The nightstand in the bedroom had sticky rings and marks from someone's cup. The toilet tank had crusty stuff dried on it. The fold out cot we were given had dirt and dust in it when opened. While we appreciate that this was a campground, and thus a little more rustic, there is a difference between rustic and dirty. We paid close to the cost of a hotel room for the cabin. We did bring it to the campground's attention. The maid stopped by and admitted that she missed all those things, and that it was gross. She said she saw the stains but walked out without cleaning them. She told us she had been to a concert the night before we arrived, and didn't do her best job. We were appreciative that she was honest and didn't try to pretend it wasn't gross, or to avoid responsibility. The cashier apologized when we checked out, but no effort was made to compensate us in any way, monetarily or otherwise, for the dirty conditions. We would not be likely to choose this location again.
