Love this hotel and spa so very much. The staff are AMAZING. Started off being welcomed by Eugene, who has a great personality and made me feel super welcomed. Waited in the Empress Lounge and had a few good drinks. Endi was a fabulous surfer. He even took the time to kindly escort me to the ladies Tom since there were several turns along the way! The hotel is super clean, the bed are so comfortable and the sheets to die for! Love turn down service! Spent an incredibly relaxing day in the spa enjoying everything it has to offer. Advice — become a MO Fan — there are incredible benefits that you can choose from including free breakfast, late checkout and a dining/spa credit. I cannot wait to return!

We happened upon the restaurant inside the hotel, Muze, trying to find something open in this corner of DC on Saturday night. Happily, our dinner was a great experience. The service was attentive and the for was delicious. I recommend the crab dip and the lobster sandwich. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the expense for an occasional night out. I would recommend to anyone.

Very friendly staff. I highlight Lawrence in front desk and Andrea in concierge desk. Congratulations for your kind and helpful service. The hotel is elegant yet cozy and the food very tasty. Vast breakfast options. Very well located, you are in the Mall in ten minutes walking. Our room on the Club floor, wonderful. Large, with high ceilings and spacious bathroom with a large tub. Very good quality toiletries. The bed … fantastic! I will definitely come back to this hotel on my next visit.

5 stars for service, bright and refreshing decor, banquet staff and service was second to none and comfortable and luxurious rooms. The grounds were gorgeous and we enjoyed our morning walk that lead us quickly to nearby memorials and scenic spots. Breakfast buffet that was delicious and our table view of the water was a special touch. The staff was focused on guests and refreshingly attentive. After asking for directions to a bathroom, a staff member not only walked me there but engaged in conversation about my stay. Unbelievable experience for a onr night stay. The parking valet staff was equally as attentive and engaging. Although our visit was for a small business event, this hotel is on our list for a personal visit in the near future. Bravo to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We felt so welcomed and comfortable, these people are hospitality experts!

This is a great location. It is close to most major attractions but set away so there is not too much traffic noise. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the staff is very attentive. Room Service was a bit slow, but the food was very good. It would be nice if there were a few more restaurant or bar choices in the hotel.

This place is beautiful. I went here for a fancy black tie work event. The whole space was elegant and gorgeous. Service was also very good. They have turn down service in the evenings. Their bathrooms have a soaking tub and a very nice shower. Be warned the mini fridge is prefilled with goodies so do not expect to be able to store food or leftovers in it. The mini soaps and lotions given are wonderful.

We were at the bar area. We got service pretty fast and they checked on us regularly. Food was good. Also had very good free chips and nuts to eat while waiting for the food. One of our nicer hotel bar experiences.

The staff was stupendous. Even better than what you would expect at high tea. The selection of tastings paired well with my Earl Grey. And the view of the water made a perfect backdrop.

It is in the center of everything, yet it is nicely secluded from the fast pace of the city around it. Parking is valet only, and will cost you around $55/night. The staff are amazing, and made both me and my fiance feel welcome. We chose the water view delux room, and could not have been more pleased. Bed was super comfy, room service was on point, and the dining area in the room was well situated. Only complaint I had about the experience was the temperature of the shower, twice both times I showered left something to be desired. But the bath temperature was perfect? I definitely recommend this hotel, and plan on spending more nights there.

Classy and luxurious but definitely needs to be updated. The property feels like something from a 80s early 90s Harrison Ford political thriller movie. The staff is very nice and helpful. Their breakfast buff is worth the 30 bucks they charge, great spread and variety. Their lobby bar also could also do with some updating, selection of spirits is unimpressive (much rather have a drink at the Ritz Carlton's lobby bar or the Watergate's). If you can find a room for sub 300 bucks a night it's worth it, wouldn't pay more then that however (at least until they update / modernize the place).

Great luxarious hotel, very clean with awesome spa facilities. I definitely felt refreshed and pampered after my stay. Awesome experience!

It's a large, nice building with unusually good service. They offer you tea when you check in, and when you return to your room entry night, you'll find they've put cable ties on all your charges and bookmarks in all your books. There are loaner umbrellas in the closet, and the fitness center has a clean towel and a water bottle on every machine, plus a fridge full of gold, blood-orange-scented towels to cool down with. Those details should tell you all you need to know about how thoughtful and attentive to detail the Mandarin is.

I'm sure the reviews on this place are spectacular. Our experience was outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. It's in relatively close proximity to both the National Mall and the wharf. Service was top-notch and always friendly.

Great location. You're within walking distance of the mall and a majority of the museums. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Loved the view from the club lounge, as well.

I could not say more about how lovely and amazing my stay was here. From the accommodating staff, the gentleness of their interaction with customers, the quality of decor, furniture, and aesthetic was astounding. This little middle class suburb girl felt like the 1%. I will be back for sure!

Expensive but, in view of the quality of the servive, we quickly understand why.

Booked for a romantic weekend for my girlfriend. The staff were awesome with helping me to make this a special weekend! From making sure the flower arrangements that I had delivered, were placed in the room before we checked in to the in-room dinning service to the easy check-in check-out. The room with water view was very cozy and elegant. The treats that they sent for her birthday were excellent (in taste and aesthetics). If you are looking for a romantic weekend in DC, plan something special with this hotel and they will make sure it happens! She or he will never forget.

Quiet luxury. The lobby is open and airy. Lots of gleaming wood and unobtrusive employees. You feel the difference from other chain hotels. The workers are polished and professional, but warm and welcoming. The rooms are nicely appointed.

The property is still well maintained and as luxurious as ever, though I can't say that bringing kids to the place is a good idea. Somehow the luxury hotel isn't designed for the little ones. The luxury is abundant but not really much for kids to do at the hotel. The property shows its luster though it is losing it somewhat and it shows. The hotel is upkept well and the location is great too close to everything but still away from all the major tourist attractions behind the Department of Agriculture. The amenities are great and the rooms are well maintained and clean and are set up absolutely great. I had visited with family over Thanksgiving weekend, which is sort of dead time in Washington, DC, so the rates were great. The staff at the hotel are very friendly though I may not visit the restaurants at the hotel. While service there is great it is not much for dinner or lunch IMHO but more for breakfast. The bar in the lobby is wonderful in both food and drink and service is top notch, but I still think that more amenities for kids would make it more family friendly, so if you have a chance to visit it's a good place to stay.

Extremely nice venue. Was there for a reception and dinner for my industry. Very good food and strong drinks. Only downside was the bar upstairs was kinda small for all the people we had coming up. But service was fast and excellent.

An absolutely spectacular hotel. It's rare to find an expensive hotel that also seems to be worth the money, but there were a lot of small touches between both the staff and the little extras like a hot pot of tea at the front desk, or turn-down service leaving macaroons or cupcakes in your room for you. Also very nice to see bottles of water left in the room at no cost, as opposed to the typical $10 bottle of Fiji. On the other hand, a little disappointed to see a mini-bar instead of a fridge. I thought we were largely done with those in hotels but perhaps not. On the whole though, very happy with my stay. The staff is fantastic and the room was very comfortable.

Spend 2 nights at this property a few years ago. The staff was exceptional, the atmosphere was wealthy, room service was excellent it was like living in paradise for those 48 hours. This place left a lasting impression in my mind.

As always, my experience at the Mandarin was second to none. It's by far the best hotel I've stayed at in the DC area. The rooms are pristine and luxurious and the bathrooms are are as well. Add the generous amenities and delicious room service, it keeps me coming back time after time.

My stay at the Mandarin Oriental was great. The front desk were helpful and friendly, or room had this soft Asian style that was very comfortable. They had a stocked mini fridge that you have to pay for of you so much as take it out the fridge and don't use the item. The bar was open a lil late the drinks are and food are well worth their time. I had a lobster sandwich that was to die for. All in all I would recommend staying here if your in the area.

Lovely hotel, great staff. They really made my birthday special. Also made my daughter feel like a princess. I would definitely stay again. Easy check in & out. Chocolate covered strawberries with gold flakes were waiting for me upon my arrival with a note telling me to have a great day/stay.

The room was very clean and spacious. Generally, property is well maintained. The hospitality shown to the highest standard! ; the staff are professional yet they were friendly, a little conversation to break the ice sort of thing… they made me feel like I was important; I felt the staff was happy to be at work, and it showed in their demeanor and body language. At no point did I feel uncomfortable in my surroundings. I felt very safe staying at this hotel. The bed… oh my! … lovely… on my next visit to DC, I AM going to stay at the Mandarin. Cheers Judy.

Very clean and I got a room with a great view. It was unfortunate the staff couldn't arrange two connecting rooms. That's the only reason why it is missing a star. When we checked in, they said the other room was being cleaned. Then we check with them again in an hour and they said it's taken. A dent in my vacation with my friends.

As a guest, my experience was five stars. As part of the event staff for a large program, my experience was a solid three stars. Average between them = four stars. The showers in the guest rooms are amazing — as is the bed. I've worked events/programs at 25+ luxury properties all over the world, and found the tier 1 support (servers, house staff, and other staff on the front line) to be rather slack compared to others. The banquet and sales managers were exactly what we expected — competent, quick, and personable. Everyone responsible for executing their/our wishes was not. As a specific example from my experience: the event staff office is customarily given the same or often better service than the event guest spaces. There wasn't a morning our dirty bfast dishes sat on our workspace tables for less than 2 hours after the food service ended. Sounds petty, but the only difference between good and great properties is exceptional service.

Great hotel for a quick trip! Very close to Capitol building, the White House and the Smithsonian Museum. The hotel is nice and cosy and has a vintage feeling. The staff tries to keep you happy all the time! Also a good place for hosting conferences or large summits. A Starbucks outlet and CVS is close to the hotel in case you need to have a quick cuppa or want to get quick groceries/ medicines. Overall a good stay!

I attended a work meeting at the Maze restaurant. The service was very friendly and professional. The breakfast food selection was very diverse and appealing. The food itself was very delicious and filling. I even found myself craving the same breakfast dish the day after (Muskalesh, I think it was called? ). I look forward to my next work meeting!

Decent but not worth the $$ I paid. Water views sit right above heavily used train tracks, followed by wide highway views. It's not the spectacle you envision when making the reservation. In room dinning was "I — Hop" ish in quality. TV has no "on demand" options so cable is it. It does not measure up to the Other Mandarin Orientals Ive stayed at. Staff is very nice however.

I had drinks and dinner at Muse at the Mandarin. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was relaxed and the views of the city made the experience that much better, even if it meant being a little removed from it all.

Great room in a luxury hotel. Location immediately around hotel is a bit bland, but views of monuments and walking distance to mall. Shower pressure was strangely strong, which is an unusual problem but I guess is better than not enough? Overall we had an enjoyable stay.

Stayed here five nights for my wife's work conference. The rooms are comfortable and staff super helpful. There is an indoor pool with a view of Jefferson Memorial. The restaurant for breakfast and casual dining is excellent. We had breakfast there each day and dessert in the evenings. The location is a bit secluded but close enough to the Smithsonian museums for a nice stay.

The hotel staff was very friendly and more than willing to accommodate each of our requests. Our room was very nice. The bed is very comfortable and the night time turn down service was just what we needed after a long day touring DC. Definitely would stay again. Only complaint would be having to pay per day to park our vehicle.

Went there for the High Tea Service. Service was excellent. Very attentive. The server also gave very detailed descriptions of the food and beverage items. The desserts were okay, but otherwise the food was very tasty.

Just terrible service. For a place that charges $600/night you expect top level service. I stayed there for 5 days in Oct and the front desk made mistake after mistake. The billed me only about half the charges when I checked out, but then added two charges to my credit card for several thousand dollars. It took three phone calls to sort this out, each time of course getting another person on the line who needed to be told the whole story again. At no point in time they did offer to fix this and call me back when it was done. They would just keep me on infinite holds. Front staff seems to be largely staffed by people with zero experience.

Never stay there but in the inside it looks coool.

This review is for the Empress Lounge in Mandarin Oriental. Pinkies up! In my book, tea is always a good idea. And when it's afternoon tea at the Empress Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental, how could it not be? I made reservations on OpenTable for my friend and I about a week prior to our scheduled date. There were plenty of open reservations available then, no problem getting a reservation. I even had to change the reservation and make it a little earlier, and it wasn't a problem. The Empress Lounge is located in the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental. You basically enter the hotel and go straight and there's a lounge/bar area for tea and cocktails. All the tables that have been reserved have little Reserved cards on them. When you think of Mandarin Oriental afternoon tea, you're probably thinking — stuffy, super dressy, snooty. But that is not the case at all. You don't need a ballgown to have tea here. And the service and environment are far from stodgy; everyone is super friendly and accommodating, making this afternoon tea experience a true gem. I selected the flowering osmanthus, a green tea, and my friend selected the lychee red, a black tea. Teas come in the cutest mini teapots and there's a separate glass teapot warmer and glass teapot with hot water, so you can replenish hot water into your mini teapot at your convenience. This is brilliant!

11/15/14 — stayed 1 night on client visit — close to Alexandria — right near Jefferson Memorial, great location — beautiful hotel.

Never stayed here, but it's really nice on the inside. I would stay here if I could afford it.

Over all my stay here during memorial day weekend was great. The spa was nice to use after a long day of walking. The complementary water and fruit to take was a nice touch. There is free coffee and tea in the lobby. The hardest part deal with is the lack of non-five star restaurants in or nearby. Definitely not looking for a golden arches but something not so up scale. This hotel is located at the end of a cul de sac and there is no restaurants there either.

This hotel was all fancy and stuff but the service here was terrible. They hire these ratchet girls to work and they are so rude! one almost pushed my daughter down. Ok view-bad service. Try and work on that dontcha think.

Stayed for a night on a hot June day. In the room there is no refregirator to cool your own bottle of water. There is also no bottle of water that is typically left with good hotels as a courtesy to a guest. There is no kettle or tea/coffe bags to make your your own hot drink. When I questioned they said I have to order through room service, and pay for it. The worst as yet to come: you pay for internet on top of hefty room rate. Internet is now free in almost all hotels including those 2-star hotels.
