This hotel if they would finish renovations and clean the rooms properly would be awesome! It's like they started and stopped halfway during the process. I literally cleaned my room using a clorox cleaner because of the smell and uncleanliness. The bed slept awesome and the front desk staff is great. It could be a great hotel, but they have some work to do.

We stayed at the Alamar hotel prior to a concert at the Ampitheater. I was super skeptical because of the mixed reviews but I was actually pleasantly surprised! The owner (I didn’t catch her name) was absolutely lovely. She let us park before we checked in because we were early and the rooms weren’t ready. We walked a mere few minutes to the beach and returned a couple hours later to see if the rooms were ready. My daughter and I stayed in room 100 and it was perfect. The beds were actually super comfy, the bathroom was clean, and everything just looked really good and standard for a hotel room. I will say the laminate floors were a little gritty with sand but I really wasn’t sure if they were like that BEFORE we got there or if we dragged it in when we walked in with our stuff. The place has obviously been renovated and I think they’ve done an adequate job. I felt that the room was spacious but not huge and definitely adequate for our needs. The pool was clean and quiet — which was a bonus! I hate busy pools so it was perfect for me. It was also SUPER affordable for July 3rd at the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice people inside was cleanish. Small dogs allowed, and pool side is only option. Next to half moon which was very nice. Inside slightly out dated but was worth booking and will again.

If I could rate no stars I would. This is the worst hotel I have “””ever”””” booked! they gave room 307 to us, 1 queen with pullout bed for 313.66 a night. It was the most disgusting place. The bed “looked” ok. The sofa pull out was disgusting. No one is able to sleep on it. The closet was disgusting. I swear there are fleas in the room. Something was seriously jumping on my leg. We immediately left that place with a full refund. I do however appreciate the generous girl upfront who gave us full refund.

I enjoyed my stay here! It is in the Vibe District of Virginia Beach so music, art and entertainment are all within walking distance. Very relaxed atmosphere and not too expensive.

Only thing good about this place is that it's close to the beach. Our room was in the back corner and it was pretty gloomy. Left early because the beds were uncomfortable. Nothing like the pictures.

I just stayed in the Alamar Resort Inn. I was in room 104. I really have to say for the price it is GREAT! Everything was clean. It is a great location by the beach. The beds are comfortable. The pool is clean. A great last minute find! I would stay again.

Awesome place. Only 2 blocks from the beach and u can’t beat the price. Clean rooms, friendly staff and owners. Will be staying here when I come back.

This hotel is definitely worth revisiting. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The price was also fair.

We left early and came home because my back hurt so badly. The beds are totally worn out and there are NOT kitchens in every room. Our room was so tiny you had to walk single file sideways to not hit the wall between the bed. There was no fridge or micro. No coffee pot. No breakfast. This is an old motor lodge that has a fresh coat of paint. SKIP it and go to a truly updated facility or stay at a chain facility that maintains standards.

The owners were excited and friendly, our room was clean and relaxing, the overall building was very cute and the location is great. A good price considering all the perks.

4/21/18 I had been to this location many times before. New owners. Booked a room for 3 days and left early. Service was horrible room was clean but only had towels for one day I had to go and ask for more. Ther is no room service so it was never done there was only one little trash can in the room one bed had only one sheet no blanket other had one sheet and a blanket with holes and really old. They also don't have continental breakfast any more. The location is good but the service was horrible also the pillows are hard as a rock we all left with neck pain. I quess the biggest thing for me was the service. I will for sure not be back.

This place is such a joke. I understand family friendly but families with children will understand that they will make noise. Such rudeness from the owner shouldn't be tolerated.

The worst places I have been too. Unclean, ants every where, no room service, unclean towels, refrigerator broken, poor bathroom, broken bed. Only benefit is the location.

Great property. Getting alot of remodeling done so it will be even better come summer 2018.

The staff was wondetfull thr place is clean plently of towels the pool was available great location only thtee blicks to the beach and most important pet friendly. I would recommend to anyone. Thank you guys you were great. Joe.

Worst experience ever. This hotel is terrible with horrible customer service. The room looked very dingy. Sheets were not changed. There were cleaning supplies and coffee supplies left on the floor. We asked to cancel our reservation and they would not budge so we drove 6hrs to get to VA beach and they sold our room type. The lady was not willing to help at all. One of the worst hotel experience we encountered especially with 2 toddlers. I would never go back or recommend to any of my friends and family.

Seemed to be a family friendly place. Was more like apartments than a motel. Had actual kitchen & livingroom.

Not too big, excellent service.

The pool was very clean and kept up with. There was no control over the temperature of the room, but my fiance and I had no issues getting hot or cold when we were in the room. Nice huge bathroom. Cable available. Only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because the house next door made a rude comment to my fiance walking by at night when he did absolutely nothing. So the area may be a little sketchy, but I can't verify that off of one person. Distance from the beach: 1.5 blocks.

These people watched us the hole time we were there constantly complaining about every little thing. Whether it was our kids. Parking. Door being open. Jumping in the pool. (8' deep). They actually walked up to our kids who were walking up the steps and told them to be quite. When we were standing there watching them do nothing Wong. Theven rooms were very cold with personal control over the thermostat. And God forbid you open the door to let it warm up in there a bit. Over all the place was clean. But no way will we ever stay there again. If you stay there you will benjoy disappointed. The staff made it a horrible stay.

Very poor customer friendly owners and staff were in our business at all times. The reviews were spot on and we seen it first hand! Stay away from this place the employees there can not speak English and are very hard to deal with.

The upkeep and friendlyness is enpeckalble, great, clean and relaxing. Close to the beach and attractions.

Worst service I've ever been to I would give it 0 stars if I could. They have no idea how to treat paying guests. Don't waste your time if you want to have a relaxing vacation. The owner is not fit to handle everyday life let alone run a hotel.

We booked for two night, From the start my husband had a negative vibe from the owner (front desk lady) then everything was going fine until our last night, it was 12:30 am she came out of her room (she lives there) she made a comment that every one is "sleeping" already and that we need to go back inside to our room. Mind you, it was just me and my husband our daughter was asleep on the bed so we were literally whispering. She must of been spying on us to notice that we were outside on the balcony. Also, hello people come here for vacation! And parents will understand, if you want a glass of wine while your child is sleeping and enjoy the weather then no one should tell you to go back inside your room. She's is absolutely nuts. I just read the reviews and honestly everything everyone says is true. She's very rude, is like an old cranky lady living with you. She came out of her room at 1230am! Basically telling us to go to sleep. We wanted to have a yearly vacation getaway with our growing family and definitely not staying here ever!

My daughter Jade, myself and my little pooch (Reese) stayed at the Alamar last summer. We had a great time! Felt very safe here! Very cozy! Tina was very helpful, as was her husband who was gracious enough to give us tips on good restaurants! We intended on visiting again this summer, but unfortunately we are going to have to wait until summer 2017. Cant wait! Trudy, Jade, and Reese :)

Definitely enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean and employees seemed friendly. The pool area was also very nice, we really liked the general layout of the hotel. Rooms are a little old fashioned but didn't find that to be a problem, felt it added unique charm. Included a continental breakfast with basic choices which met our needs. Close location to everything, only a 5 minute walk to the beach and boardwalk. Is a quiet family and dog friendly facility. Saw some negative reviews on the owner and her being strict but I could see why with how the night life can be in this area. Would definitely stay again!

My bathroom had mould and the room was overall grimy, and the owner became aggressive when I pointed it out to her claiming that is was 'throughly cleaned'. Little disturbed by all the negative reviews, many highlighting the behaviour of the owner. Will stay at a chain hotel next time and NEVER this establishment again.

Quite possibly one of the worst places I have ever stayed! -Manager/owner is odd, and I strongly suspect was on an illicit substance during our stay. -Caught her snooping through our belongings when we left our room locked and threatened eviction when we voiced our concern. -rooms aged and outdated. -air conditioning did not work — Upon returning to the hotel after dinner we found the manager/owner doing laps of the accommodation and she appeared incredibly agitated. Read the many negative reviews and stay ELSEWHERE.

This hotel has everything that we were looking for — clean, quiet, family hotel that has nice sized rooms, outdoor pool and breakfast. My wife and kids loved the hotel and are already asking when we can go back. The staff is very attentive and accommodating and the owner, Tina, was very gracious. It was an all around great stay.

My family has been coming to the Alamar Resort Inn for years and we love it. The rooms are clean, quiet and very spacious. Most of all, we love the family atmosphere of the hotel and the fact that there is no tolerance for bad behavior. The outdoor saltwater is wonderful and my children love it. The owners are great people and Tina is a sweetheart. They started continental breakfast this year which is an added bonus. Highly recommend! We will never stay anywhere else!

SCAM** Do not book here! Extreme disrespect to both active and veteran servicemen. This has been one of my worst experiences and never have I observed both active and veteran servicemen so poorly treated. The hotel manager Tina is one of the most disrespectful and conning business women I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. We booked a room for 3 nights for the forth of July and followed all rules of the hotel. We had read the many negative reviews of this hotel and should have been forewarned of the nature of management for this establishment, however in poor judgement we decided to book. from the onset Tina made us feel extremely uncomfortable and excessively intrusive. We had an uneasy feeling that this stay would not be smooth from her comments and inappropriate obtrusive surveillance. Secondly the demeaning and cruel nature that management (Tina) spoke to her staff (many from diverse backgrounds) was truly uncomfortable to observe. I have never experienced such blatant disrespect with Tina demanding our eviction enforcing 'private property' with police called the moment we requested a refund. We felt scammed and victims of a con artist wanting to turn over and double sell our room, for the busy July 4th. Tina labelled our guests both active and veteran servicemen as alcoholics and of poor character.

The room was nice and spacious but the the attitude of the staff ruined my entire trip. They had Extremely strict rules that they only enforced to certain people at there own discretion. The manager was very unprofessional flirting with male guest, the kids could barely enjoy themselves without them nagging and having rules that depleted every fun part about being on vacay. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this hotel, unless you enjoy being mistreated on your time away from home.

I wish I'd have found the reviews for this place before I booked with them. Needless to say, I did not have a good experience. Without going on a long diatribe about my experience I'll just say, everything I read about Tina is completely accurate. This woman should not be working in any type of position that requires any sort of customer service at all. She is argumentative and absolutely ridiculous. If you're booking with her, I'm assuming you're trying to get close to the beach but not spend a fortune. Trust me, there are much better options. Just keep looking.

Dealing with this place makes me want to never return to VA Beach. Booked an entire weekend almost 2 months ago. Received a call from their staff at 11:51am saying that reservations were cancelled starting for that very day. They would not assist in finding an open hotel. (Which was a nightmare. ).

Do not come here. Absolutely horrible. Crazy owner. Long story short, this hotel is an absolute SCAM. We paid $280 for the room, plus $22 extra all to stay for 10 minutes. The woman running this hotel is absolutely PSYCHOTIC. Very UNREASONABLE and just needs to find a new profession because hospitality is NOT her expertise. I wish I would have read the reviews beforehand because apparently, my experience with this owner was not abnormal and it has happened many times before. Once we got kicked out, we ended up staying at another hotel ON THE BEACH, that was cleaner, in a better location, and cheaper. So if the price is the only reason you want to stay here, you could do better elsewhere. 1st, my boyfriend and I were waiting for our friend (who had already checked in) to come let us in and get situated with our luggage BUT we had to pay an additional $22 first for some reason because we were "additional guests. " I don't understand why it cost more when the room is set up for 4 people and there were only 3 of us. 2nd, my boyfriend's parents wanted to make sure we had help with our bags so they were helping us up to the room but then the woman from the office called our room (WITHIN 2 MINUTES) and said that we can NOT have ANY visitors and that they have to leave IMMEDIATELY or the police will be called. Then, called us back 2 minutes later and said that we better not be smoking or drinking in the room.

Very rude owner would not allow us to stay when we questioned why our credit card was photocopied. She then threatened to call the police while we were making phone calls to find another motel, She was very rude and unprofessional.

Never even had the chance to stay. My sister booked the room in advance. I traveled a total of 7 hours my sister drove 4 hours. (we try and spend time together every summer). We got there and woman behind desk got very rude when we went to check in. Alls my sister asked was why was she photo copying her credit card. Then the woman got an attitude and ripped up (not shred but tore up) and threw away copied credit card paper right in front of us and said we couldn't stay there. Also said she was still going to charge for the room. It was very unprofessional and rude. Then turn us away after traveling that long. I don't recommend staying th3re if you want southern hospitality. You won't get it there. I'd give negative stars if I could. This person should not be in a customer service job. Rudeness and snottiness exuded from every pore.

I have never experienced something like this place. It is ran by really rude landlords that do not allow guest in rooms other than customers. I was visiting a friend from college and they ended up evicting my friend for not being a customer. Extremely bad customer service. Never again.

The Place was clean, but that is the only thing going for it. The owner was not friendly at all, and someone was in my room was I was gone to eat. I think it should be against the law for someone to enter your room while you are paying for it.
