DO NOT STAY HERE! I wish I could give this negative stars. We reserved a non-smoking pet friendly room for two nights. When we arrived at Econolodge late at night we supposedly received their last pet friendly room. They claimed to only have 3 total, despite the hotel being only about 10% full by the look of the parking lot at 11pm. This happy little room was located directly across from their dumpster, which was actually the only positive aspect about it because we could easily unload all the trash from our 9hr roadtrip. Upon approaching the door we were greeted by a pile of old rotted garbage about 3 feet away in the grass next to a very large pile of old feces that suspiciously looked more human than canine. The carpeted room itself reeked of old smoke and had 2 mostly used-up gel air fresheners trying to mask the stale stench. A whistleblower glistened with pride on the end table: a shiny new ashtray, which ironically was the cleanest object in the entire room. I thought someone had left it behind, but then noticed the smoke detector had been ripped from the wall. Over the next few hours I chased and killed at least 20 flies with my dog following me around consuming the bodies. They plagued me all night by buzzing my head while I tried to sleep. Stains riddled everything. The couch had some odd brown smear along the front and some white spots that hinted at… well… one can guess. Even the lampshades had stains (HOW?! ). The floor looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in ages, or ever. Maybe the dark color was from dirt accumulation. The door had scratches on it like someone had been trapped in there and couldn’t escape. I noticed a pink streak and couldn’t decide if calling it nailpolish or crayon would make me feel better. The microwave looked like an office break room microwave that no one ever bothered to clean, and brown stains of unknown origin speckled the rim of the bathtub like a Jackson Pollock painting. I did not sleep beneath the sheets and covered the pillow with a shirt, but my pajamas retained the smoke smell for the remainder of the trip. It was like I had gone to a smoking bar in my pjs. We had nowhere else to go so late at night after traveling over 9hrs straight with our dog, so made do as best as we could. We complained about the flies, garbage, pile of feces, and overall filth to the main attendant that evening, but nothing was done to remedy anything by morning. Needless to say we did not stay the next day. This hotel is disgusting and should be shut down until they clean up their act. Do yourself a favor and pay a little bit more elsewhere for a ton of cleanliness and comfort. (They have been reported to Choice Hotels. )
