We really enjoyed our stay here! The owners are very friendly, considerate and welcoming. The room was clean, neat and had everything we needed. Callie (the fur-baby) is super sweet and loving so be prepared for kisses and greetings from her. A very short walk to the beach. The location is perfect just a few minutes away from all the tourist stuff but tucked quietly away for a peaceful nights rest. We loved sitting outside in the courtyard enjoying the breeze from the ocean. I am so glad we found this little gem! Now I can visit my family without crowding them. I am looking forward to another visit soon!

This place is great. Hotel is a little older, but clean and well taken care of. Brenda and Nick were extremely hospitable, and very understanding to my circumstances. Here on business with no reservations, and had to leave suddenly due to the hurricane. They didnt even charge for the late check out when I left at 4.10 stars — would come again.

Me and my husband booked a few days at this hotel, everything was great, front desk even told us to call them directly next time to book for a cheaper price. I call today to book, and the front desk person, whatever his name is, is completely rude and even hung up on me before I had finished talking to him or even ask when their computers would be up again so I could possibly make a reservation. Safe to say I’ll go look somewhere else with a staff that has better phone etiquette.

The room was inexpensive and in a perfect are of town. It looks cute like your average motel. The fact that it had a little fridge and microwave are big bonuses. They list a star because the room had a funny smell to it and the blanket had a small hole in it. It lost another star because we stayed two nights and we were gone all day long sight seeing and visiting getting back at 11:00 p. M. And they never cleaned the room or gave us fresh towels.

Would give it two stars but the managers were so very nice, an on site security guard was reassuring, and at this price point… what do you expect, really?!? The room was marginally OK. Bed was fine and shower worked. Everything was pretty clean. But tiles on floor were loose, very few outlets, old-style medicine cabinet rusty inside. Definitely a vintage look to this place, and the neighborhood was a little troubling. The place was nearly empty the night we where there. One couple across the courtyard had a toddler who they were trying to get to sleep so they just stood outside their room in the cold waiting for baby to fall asleep. A bit weird, but …? But, I really liked the manager — a retired military guy, I believe, and very kind and helpful. Had a lot of history of the area to share. If you just need a clean and cheap room, this is your place, but don't expect any luxuries!

So far so good. Check in process was quick, immediately greeted professionally. First impression of the room, it smells nice and looks great. Bed is comfortable. I checked the entire place and found no discrepancies. Amazing price for what you get.

Great place to stay, quiet, comfortable beds. The owners are really nice and with a military discount you can't beat the price. The guy came to the back parking lot and gave me a jump start because my battery died. Not alot of places like that anymore. They have a customer as long as I'm stationed here.

Quiet and peaceful. Also the husband and wife team that runs this motel are wonderful people. I recommend this place if you're looking for decent prices and a peaceful stay.

Hope this review is used for the better of the establishment. Place looked nice from the outside but other than that, the good part ends there. Rooms have a foul smell and one of them was full of critters, really disgusting. Management was told about but they did not care, “is part of the enviroment” they said. Hot water was in and out and some furniture looked deteriorated. I hope they get this situation fix asap because the will not last long.

Clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay during a brief visit to Norfolk. The owner works very hard to make this a safe, pleasant place. Close to the beach, convenient to many area attractions. Plenty of hot water. Takes a couple minutes to warm up, just like at home, but then very nice.

I wanted to find a small spot away from big hotels in Norfolk and found it! It is directly across from the Chesapeake bay beach, nestled within a quiet neighborhood and less than mile from a supermarket and restaurants. The room was perfect for two, clean, bright and reasonably priced. The Bay Inn is the type of place that I would feel comfortable to visit alone when I need quiet time. The owners were friendly and the room had everything I needed; microwave and small frig. I loved the center court where one can sit in the sun, or stroll out in the evening to star gaze. My only suggestion would be to add another chair inside of room. Overall I really enjoyed my stay, and look forward to extending my visit next time.

Stayed here last weekend. Room was clean and smelled great. Guy that was at the desk was very nice even when we checked in late. Was surprised at how amazing this place was for a small motel. Will definitely be back soon.

One of the less expensive places but comfortable. Had a fridge and microwave to allow us to eat and relax after a day out on the town and fishing. The room was extremely clean and area was quiet. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and he was gracious to accomdated our late check in. We do plan to book another room when we do another weekend trip up.

Great room especially for the price. The owner and employees were extremely nice! The room was really clean and had everything you could want from a hotel room. Definitely stay here and get more for your money!

Room was nice and check in process was quick. Had a small incident while trying to park a trailer in the parking lot because my Dad was moving some of my stuff from the Little Creek base back home since I'm getting out of the Navy soon. The employee got a little snappy and had a quick fuse but I feel like we resolved the situation and there were no hard feelings. So if you have a big truck or a trailer you can park on the curb and the employee assured me it was safe. Other than that it's a nice little place to stay for a day or 2.

I stayed here recently for 9 nights in a row with my wife and toddler while we were vacationing in Norfolk and visiting relatives stationed in the naval bases in town. What a find! This place is exceptional, clean, and very close to the beach. The owners were great and were very friendly. Our little daughter loved them too and they were great with her (she still calls Nick "that nice man" from vacation. ) The courtyard is awesome and accessible from all rooms. Price is right too! We'll be back next time we're in town.

This place is great! They have beautiful rooms, a garden, and the owners are so family friendly they are the best part of the experience. These rooms are great for one night or longer. It's minutes from the beach. I love this hotel. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

I stayed here with my girlfriend and def coming back every year god willing… I loved how clean they are and how friendly wow I was very very impressed how peaceful this place is as well very attentive with the costomers that's a plus. Also very gay friendly owners also a plus.

I'm from New Jersey and me an my girlfriend were staying here. We love it, it is really close to the beach, we walked to the beach almost every day, it is really close to Ocean View Fishing Pier. Really clean. The owners are very friendly and definitely we're staying there every time we go back to Virginia! The price is the best and the service is awesome!

This was the worst stay at a hotel that we ever experienced. The room smelled, the toilet moved around, we had no hot water and the male owner of this establishment is the rudest person we have ever met. When he was told we had no hot water there was no other room to move me too, so therefore we wanted my money back. We got cussed out and thrown off the premises and told never to come back. This man should not be around the public in any business manner at all and for his lovely co-owner having to deal with him as a couple owner. "I feel sorry for her. "

This is a clean hotel with a friendly staff. The husband and wife team operates the hotel which is conveniently located in a commercial/residential area. The courtyard is beautiful and their dog, Jake, is friendly we would definitely recommend this hotel.

My stay at the Bay Inn for 2 nights were great. The room was very relaxing, everything was clean, and comfortable. The owner of the hotel was very helpful and nice. He gave us a wonderful service. He gave us directions to places, gave us schedules to buses, and got us a taxi. We travelled mostly with public transportation (buses), and he was the one who gave us all the directions and timings to buses, and at a quiet city like Virginia beach, we survived travelling around with public transportation only because of him. He was really well behaved and so was his wife. The environment was lovely. Nature beauty surrounded the hotel. The hotel was also near the beach. Even though it was a bit far from the town of Virginia Beach, but our stay there was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to everyone! You'll have a fabulous visit at Virginia beach!

The couple that operate the motel go far beyond what normal managers do, They have always made my husband and myself feel like family other than a paying customer. I recommend staying there to all my friends, thats where we will be staying when we need a nice friendly clean room.

In one word, I would like to say, Excellent. Room was specious and clean (no bed bugs). Distant location from main attraction of city but it was fantastic, beach is just across the street, calm and quite. Staff are really really really nice, well behaved. One of the staffs played a role of our tour guide, he was really nice and they are available 24/7. I will highly recommend this hotel who like calm and quite environment or who can rent a car to take around. Trust me… Overall its awesome!

I would never stay here again the owners are rude and practically yelled at us because our friend came to pick us up. We were there visiting him and because he was in our room for and extended amount of time. The room was fine and close to the beach but Service simply sucked.

One word… ADORABLE! this place is so darn cute. This isn't the hamptons but it's clean, neat and affordable. The location is good. It's family operated. The rooms are basic. But they are CLEAN ROOMS. Best way to describe each room is think of your grandparents' guest room minus the old smell. The bed is not anything special but it's not a rock. PLUS NO BEDBUGS! I'm staying a few nights and I love it. I am usually a 4star type of person when it comes to where I sleep. The housekeeper prides herself in cleaning. She uses your normal Clorox clean, windex and pledge. A lot of hotels use just pledge. The courtyard has a garden during July. And the staff is so sweet really personal.

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night last summer. Yeah that "nice husband" is a jackass ex navy slime ball. His wife needs to open her eyes too and realize shes got a sneaky pepping tom for a husband. If you want to run a business dont live on site. Making your customers feel like they dont even wanna leavd there room. Squid.

My friends and I go every year for St Patty's celebrations in Oceanview. We love it! The owner's especially, they always treat us great. We've come for so many years that they treat my friends and I like family. If you're looking for a fancy, expensive hotel room than go to a hotel. Bay Inn is a traditional motel like I used to go to when I was a kid. It's an Oceanview classic! It's always been clean and friendly which is why we come back every year. We especially like meeting all the friendly people who stay there for St Patty's day. You can hang out in the court yard and chill with people staying there. I'm a long-time local Virginia Beach girl but spend my St Patty's day in Oceanview at Bay Inn every year!

When I'm in the Hamptons Rd area the Bay Inn Hotel is very convenient to the cities I need to visit. Very close to beach, shopping and gas, located in a quiet neighborhood. Very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are always very clean and fresh which make for a very cozy feel. If you want the home away from home feel I strongly suggest The Bay Inn.

As mentioned by Kryss, the manager is a very rude person. He has no idea about how to talk to customers. The hotel is very dirty and stinky. I am pretty sure all the positive reviews are left by the hotel manager. As you see he is disparately responding to all negative comments. He seems like a very dangerous person, as well! There is only a few parking lots there so you have to park on the street and the Wi-Fi didn't work at all. Now read the review by Casper (one of the positive reviews) where it says "There is ample parking, and excellent complimentary Wi-Fi. " Ridiculous! In response to the comment from the hotel manager: I guess that is the only answer that you can think of. You know better that all the positive feedbacks are left by yourself. Those who stay there for a night know how rude you are.

It was nice meeting Nick and Brenda, and staying at their motel. Very friendly and sociable, always available when needed. They were very accommodating and helpful. All around kind hearted people. As far as our room, it was very clean and cozy. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when going to Virginia beach. There was a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine in our room which was very helpful on saving us money and time. We were close to a very nice private beach as well as restaurants and gas. I had no trouble sleeping due to the calm and quiet atmosphere. Thanks for letting us stay and we will be seeing you both very soon!

My boyfriend and I stopped here tonight and when we walked in the room, it was disgusting. Some dirty rug covering up a hole in the floor, the TV was prehistoric, the ac unit made a funny noise, and the bathroom was beyond unsanitary. When I walked back up to the front desk to ask for my money back, the "nice husband" walked to our room (which we had been in long enough to call another hotel two miles down the road) inspected everything with his handy dandy flashlight then told my boyfriend and I that he didn't have a problem with us getting our money back so to go talk to his wife. His wife acted like she didn't want to refund us and then her husband walked in, (I was hoping he would tell her what he told us) so as I'm by myself up front he told his wife "smells like a quickie to me Brenda but you make the call". I literally was appalled. Then she told me she was keeping some of my money for a processing fee. I told her I filled out two lines on a piece of paper. Was she kidding?! Then she said I'm sure you used the bathroom and it doesn't take long to handle business. I told her maybe not for her. Then as we are walking to the truck, he kept mumbling the license plate number. For why I have no clue. Then proceeded to call us white trash. Lol take the risk of you want to. OR go two miles down the road and stay at the surf motel. It's clean and big! And the people are actually hospitable. It's inly $20 more.

We were going to stay there but we had a sudden change of plans and had to leave. We had only been there for 15 minutes if that and had to leave. My girlfriend at the time went to see about getting full/partial refund because of the short stay. That's when things went south quick. The owner came into the room searching for heaven knows what. He was very rude and sour the whole time. Then he went to the office where my girlfriend was, who was talking to his wife, and told his wife, " it smells like a quickie, up to you about giving them a refund". I was not present at the time because I was loading the bags up, but my girlfriend texted me and said I needed to get to the office because she felt uncomfortable. By the time I was headed up there she was walking towards me leaving, the owner came out and got my license plate number and yelled at us across the parking lot, "WHITE TRASH" not once but twice! Really crappy service from a shady, rude, and grumpy old man. Never again and I will spread this to all my friends in the Norfolk area and VA beach goers.

I would love to thank the owner's Nick and Brenda for making the move from Yakima WA the easiest! The room's were so well taken care of. The yard was amazing I felt as if I was at my own home. I would tell everybody I know that if your ever in Ocean View this is the must stay place. I want to thank Brenda and Nick for the time and care they put in to letting us enjoy their wonderful place.

I called this place at 9:30pm to reserve a room. The guy who answered sounded like I was bothering him. I asked if he had rooms available on Saturday night. Every question he asked sounded like he was being bothered. When I asked how much were the rooms he simply said '60'. When I asked if they accept pets, he said 'no, sorry we don't; CLICK, and hung up on me! Is this supposed to be the 'nice husband' who runs the place?! or some random employee who is representing this establishment? Either way I would never spend a dollar and stay at a place that treats people like this. Thanks but no thanks. I read other reviews saying they were nice… not my experience! Bring your own coffee and shampoo?!?! No thanks. I'll stay at a normal hotel that treats people like people and provides the bare necessities like any other hotel out there.
