Reviews of La Quinta 2*
When checking in, the 'guest experience maker' couldn't confirm what type of room we were staying in. She was extremely rude when we asked where to go to get to our room. We asked for an extra set of sheets and got a fitted sheet and a stack of pillow cases. The bed was extraordinarily uncomfortable and loud when turning over. At 530am, there was banging, music, and various other noises that made sleeping impossible. Worst night's sleep I've had in a LONG time. The breakfast consisted of very dry biscuits, over cooked boiled eggs, canned peaches, frozen waffles, cereal, oatmeal, and toast. I'm sure they intend to make it awful so they can sell you breakfast from their restaurant.
As a fairly frequent visitor to the US both for business and pleasure, I’ve come to really like the La Quinta brand — generally finding great service mixed with scrupulously clean rooms and public areas. Sadly, the La Quinta in Tacoma has been something of a shock to me. For reference, I should say that I’m travelling as a motorcycle tourist at present and so I arrived at the hotel with a bike and the relevant safety equipment. Upon arrival at reception I was pointedly ignored by the receptionist. After clearing my throat to remind her that I existed she told me to ‘wait’ (no ‘please’, or other chat). She then shuffled some papers around and wandered pointlessly to and fro for a couple of minutes. After she could ignore me no longer, she asked me in a voice that suggested she thought that I might just have defecated in her handbag what I wanted. The ensuing check-in process was quite the most rude, joyless, perfunctory experience I’ve ever had in a hotel (I’m 44 and I’ve been staying around 100 nights/year in hotels since I was 25, so that’s a lot of check-ins). She made me feel so unwelcome that I actually wanted to just leave there and then and were I not so tired from hours in the road, I surely would have. I think I’m done with La Quinta. It’s a shame. One bad apple really can spoil the barrel it seems.
Very clean room. Very cozy place. The staff was awesome. Check in was a little hectic due to the fact they wanted to make us pay a 75 percent extra fee for amentities and they wouldn't wave it for us. Other then that everything went smooth. Great place e to stay for just over a hundred bucks. Thank you. Look forward to staying again when I can afford it.
I’m going to be honest, the staff were a joy to deal with. However, their rooms that they supposedly remodeled were very dated and ugly. But, at least they looked clean. This hotel is right next to a major freeway. And not really the best area. However! the staff were absolutely amazing! don’t feel like I could say that enough. It was a pleasure and a joy dealing with staff. That’s why I’m giving this a three star review. Purely because, of the staff.
I attended an event hosted in the oak room. The atmosphere was very poor. The event itself did not have coffee provided so I went up to the breakfast area to get a cup. They charge $2.50 for a continental breakfast size cup of coffee. The training itself was good but I do not recommend hosting or scheduling events here.
Went to Tacoma to see Maroon 5. This hotel is within walking distance to the Tacoma Dome and is the second event I've traveled to Tacoma for and would stay there again. Nice rooms. Good staff. Complimentary breakfast.
The rooms and lobby were very nice. Parking was full so that was sort of a situation. They do have security at night as there where a lot of homeless people around that area. The snack machines had outrageous price hikes. A small bag of peanuts was $7. Glad they had a swimming pool and also a small store in the lobby, although I'm sure it to was high-priced. They have Wi-Fi available which was also convenient. Overall it was a nice place I believe they also allow pets there. La Quinta is 100% smoke-free as well. I did not stay here overnight I was just visiting someone else staying there.
I have been here for 5 days with no room service/housekeeping. When I booked my room for 2 weeks, I explained to the desk that I would be working; I'm relocating for a job. I explained that I have a dog. I was told no problem. When I checked into the hotel, again I told them I had a dog. Both times I was told no problem, we welcome dogs. After 3 days of not getting service in my room I called the desk. I was told we cannot come in and clean a room with a pet in it. Since I work all day, and my dog is in the room… I cannot get my room serviced. The front desk made no attempt to find a solution. I was told "it is in the pet agreement. " I have 9 more days in this hotel. Minus the lady who prepares breakfast, the staff is not friendly.
I attended a dinner here recently for a scholarship program and it was hosted in the back room of the restaurant and lounge. The room held about 4 tables and a podium but could have held probably 2 more tables if needed. While the room was nice (but not fancy) the food is what was lacking. The burgers looked worse then fast food, the fish and chips we're a bit soggy instead of crispy, and my Caesar salad had wet croutons, the lemons were a little slimy like they were a few days old, and the chicken was incredibly dry. To say the least I was not impressed. The staff was all nice and the tables were presented very well but I do not recommend eating here.
Hotel is in a good location for everything everywhere. Service is wonderful. Rooms are good. Breakfast is a little far from the rooms but the biscuits and gravy are good and staff is awesome!
We recently stayed at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Tacoma WA when attending a concert at the Tacoma Dome. We have stayed at several La Quinta inns over the past year and the one in Tacoma was as great as the others. The Tacoma La Quinta is a large inn and has a very efficiently run management system in place to accommodate the corresponding higher number of guests that such a larger hotel will typically have. The front desk was manned with a staff of four when we checked in so that our wait time to receive a room key was less than five minutes. We found our room to be beautifully laid out and extremely clean with a generous selection of in-room coffee, information pamphlets, and toiletries. Everything in the room from the telephone to the TV to the furnace was in good working order. We had a couple of questions for the front desk that were quickly answered by the staff member (Thanks Carly) who called us after we checked in to see if our room was comfortable (nice touch and follow up). The complimentary breakfast the next morning offered several choices of food along with delicious fresh coffee (a must-have for us! ). At all times the hotel staff was on hand, very friendly, and knowledgeable. In addition, the hotel communication system in place is outstanding — the staff emailed us when our reservation was placed and again to let us know that the room was ready on the day of our arrival.
I stayed at this location in late March of 2018 and I enjoyed my stay a lot! We were placed in a beautiful corner room that was well maintained and clean. I didn't have much interaction with the staff but check in was very efficient and easy. Breakfast was definitely satisfactory and the dining area was large and laid out well. Thank you Tacoma LQ staff for an awesome stay!
Very good service. But a smell not very pleasant at night.
The hotel and staff were great. Nice, clean rooms and good amenities. I wasn't a big fan of the location compared to other places I've stayed in Tacoma, but like I said the hotel, rooms, service and bar were all great. ;) It was a short Uber ride over to the casino which was nice.
Fairly clean rooms, house keeping could use a brushup on vaccuming corners in bathroom and some light dusting would have been perfect, but the room was nice, the staff were friendly, and it was a fairly quiet room. It's not the best area in town but definitely not the worst, a few blocks down Portland Ave towards the 7/11 gets a little rough but we had no issues with the hotel parking or creeps being near by. Definitely worth the extra bucks for a good stay.
Outstanding customer service and a very nice updated hotel. My wife and I moved cross-country and always try to stay at La Quinta Inn because the rooms are clean and the service is great. This particular branch is particularly nice. We really appreciate being able to bring our pup free of charge as well.
It was a great night stay… Breakfast was nice and tasty. Staff were great.
Excellent ospedage and services.
It was a private party. They cleared all the drinks away from the tables when there was still about 60-90 minutes until the party was scheduled to be over. The drinks were massively over priced. The banquet room was nice and the location is good as it is right off I-5. The employees were nice enough and non-intrusive. I would like to return the some time for dinner. I think they may have a restaurant there.
Not too bad: the price is good, but be careful to ask for a QUIET room not on the side facing the freeway. Otherwise it can be VERY noisy. And the free breakfast is fairly sparse — — fine for one morning but a bit boring for more than that.
The friendliness of the staff at this location is what tipped the rating from 3 to 4 stars. They were outstanding! Anna and Aisha at the front desk went above and beyond. When we ordered room service and the prime rib we ordered was a little less done then we would’ve cared for, the staff was exceptionally accommodating. Believe her name might have been Laura but I’m not sure. The reason for leaning toward a three-star rating has to do with the horrific traffic noise coming from interstate five. Perhaps it would’ve been different had we been on the other side of the hotel, not sure. I think the thing that lend it self to all the noise is something to do with having better ventilation were the air-conditioners are or maybe better windows? Also, as long as you present your hotel room key you are given free breakfast but when my husband went down and got me French toast, because I was sick laying in bed, they charged him, knowing that he was a guest. He did not know any better until I told him. He should not have been charged. Otherwise very clean hotel and comfortable bed.
Enjoyed a lovely New Years Eve event… the service, the food and beverages were all lovely. We will certainly tell our out of town guests to consider La Quinta when they come to visit!
Palace of a hotel and who would expect from a la Quinta. Beautiful lounge and reataurant with big pool. Best hotel in Tacoma not like any other La Quinta!
The staff was very friendly and informative; every interaction went smoothly and swiftly. The room was comfortable, contained every amenity I found myself seeking, and Wi-Fi was readily available, stable, and of suitable speed. The continental breakfast had excellent diversity; I can't imagine anyone failing to find something suitable according to their tastes. My only complaint might be the prices of the convenience snacks located between the elevators and the front desk… However, as this encouraged us to dine in the lounge, it is a more than forgivable offense.
We wish they had a mini fridge in the standard double queen room. Other than that, it was great! Great customer service. Great Wi-Fi.
Service as fantastic. I stayed 4 nights and never had any problems. Housemaid Emily was awesome. She set my room with tea instead of coffee because I didn't like coffee. Thank you Emily.
I live in Tacoma, not too far from this location. It is not a safe neighborhood, unfortunately. However, the staff at LA Quinta go above and beyond to be helpful and concerned about each guest and if a person pays attention to their surroundings, they should be fine. I'm city-savvy, having grown up in the suburbs of Washington, DC and living in Atlanta, GA for years. I know how to get away from scary drugged-out homeless people. Just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. Do go in the heated pool and hot tub, if you like. My friends and I have been swimming in the pool since last Sunday, even when it's been raining a bit. People in this area of the country don't let little things like cold weather or rain stop us from swimming in heated pools and lounging in hot tubs! One really unfortunate thing I will mention about the FREE Continental breakfast is that it's great… if you're not a Type 2 diabetic! Seriously, in this day and age, hotels really need to educate themselves about what constitutes a healthy breakfast for those of us who have health problems.
We were so pleased with our stay here, we are already planning the next trip back to stay. The staff is amazing! They all wanted to meet our dogs and were friendly as could be. The room was extremely clean and larger than the room we stayed in at a different hotel the night before @ 1/3 of the price. They also had a fridge and microwave available which came in handy. The deal they have through BringFido is the best we've come across and we didn't get charged an arm and a leg extra for having our furbabies stay with us. The pool looked fun and people looked like they were enjoying the hot tub as well. The continental breakfast had a huge selection and the waitstaff was more than attentive and cheerful very early in the morning. There was very quick and easy access to the 5 and the hotel has a metal fence all the way around so we felt safe and comfortable. There was plenty of parking close to the building entrance making it easy to park and unload. The fan in the bathroom didn't exhaust the shower steam so maybe have that checked out… The only other thing we could have asked for would be pet sitting so we could stay up later and enjoy all the amenities this location has to offer right on site (I do understand that is probably a bit much to ask for! ) Thank you Tacoma Seattle La Quinta and staff — you made our wonderful trip even better :)
Great hotel and staff, need better security though as the neighborhood is not great. The TV, which in only would use late night, does not go above 25 (never needed) or below 10… Why? I can't listen to TV late night that loud — why have a low limit? Also please if offering breakfast add some protein and eggs! (Not just hard boiled). Really a great experience overall though! Very clean and that I am picky on…
We were surprised after driving up (the location isn't great), how clean and beautiful the lobby was! The staff is fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms, clean outdoor pool, and housekeeping does a good job. The hot breakfast has been the same everyday, biscuits and gravy, but there is a variety of cold items to choose from as well. Overall very comfortable and convenient.
Not the best! Noisy. The staff at the desk were as helpful as could be without putting out any effort. No amenities in the room, shampoo and soap only. Air conditioner and small refrigerator would keep the dead awake. On a positive note, the staff in the restaurant were excellent. This was not a good dollar value. Will look for another hotel next month when I return.
Hotel is very clean and nice. Staff was very nice and breakfast was good. Room was comfortable, warm water, nice bedding, clean. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there wasn't much variety in the continental breakfast, the beds are small (I knew this when booking), and it's close to a sketchy interchange on I-5. Otherwise was a very pleasant stay.
We got there for pur reservation and went to our room. It was a king suite when we asked for a double. They upgraded our room right away. Keys didn't work properly but when we were finally settled it was good.
The staff is always very helpful, excellent catering, and a very nice remodel. I really enjoy being able to schedule events at the La Quinta in Tacoma!
The actual establishment itself is rather nice now that the new renovations have been completed. The location is hard to get over though, with both getting to and leaving the hotel a rather confusing experience the first few times you come here. Staff is pleasant though and I have never had an issues. The breakfast provided is rather sparse, but it serves its purpose and you really cannot expect more from a hotel at this price point. Overall a good place to stay if you have business in the Tacoma area.
I would not recommend this hotel. They didn't have the room type we reserved and the staff was not helpful in resolving the mistake at all. They ended up putting us in a room below active construction that was occurring all weekend until 6:00 pm each night. Once again the staff basically told us there was nothing they could do and we would have to put up with the noise. The construction noise was so bad at times that it was difficult to carry on a conversation. The rooms were not very clean either and the hotel is pretty run down.
When doing a multiple stage renovation, you should either A) Do one area at a time or B) Close the entire hotel and do it all at once. During my stay, there was just too much going on at once. Front desk being renovated, restaurant closed due to renovation, A/C was out in all areas (room A/C was fine).
The staff were great to work with and very accommodating to make our event a success. The meals were delicious and a good variety of choices were available. Wi-Fi was spot on, the only issue was with the sound in the ballroom, it seemed intermittent at times. Aside from that, the attendees said they enjoyed the event.
Location is in a sketchy part if town, our liscense plate was stolen. Pool/Hot tub wasnt open, and free breakfast advertised was very basic. Toaster fresh waffles, lol.
Although in the middle of a major revocation, the staff at La Quinta near the Tacoma Dome could not be nicer or more accommodating. Whatever we needed for our event, they were on top of it with a smile and an attitude of wanting to make our evening the very best. Major KUDOS!
Hotel was under construction so that's why I give it 4 stars hotel manager was really rude when confronted about additional $75 for incendentals which none of the websites when booking say anything instead of apologizing she stood there and argued till we finally just said screw it and went on and went to our room that we reserved back in November. Beds were really hard and not comfortable at all pillows were a joke had to ask for extra pillows which weren't even worth it because the pillows were almost like the bed one was hard and the other was kinda plush. Got woken up early but sone one knocking furiously on our door when we had the do not disturb sign on our door and when I went to answer the door they already left over all the room was crap and overpriced but giving a decent rating only because they are doing construction and are working on remodeling everything.
Doing a great remodel, long over due, however going through construction pains as well. Hammering, sawing etc… be aware. Great and friendly front desk staff.
I attended a professional training conference at La Quinta Inn & Suites and found the hotel to be a great meeting place. There was construction going on so the training was held in an alternate room than it usually is (according to others whom have attended similar trainings there before). Parking was easily available. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were nice and clean and so were the drinking fountains.
Beds were wonderful. Bathroom clean and well stocked. Lots of outlets. But… Bedside table near alarm clock I found beer spilled and a sticky mess. Also my friend debt card to hold are room was double charged even though we paid in cash. They didnt do much in making us happy customers once more. Even though I am a loyalty card customer.
Front desk staff are nice and polite. However when I got to my room it was no clean at all. Bed was covered in fine hair and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Went to go eat at the restaurant in the hotel. Got seated but was forgotten about and had to wait 15 minutes till someone came and took my order then when they did it took another 20 minutes until I got my food. I ordered a beer and the prime rib sandwich. What I got was a piece of leather that was over cooked in some spots and raw in another with mash potatoes that had a slimy texture and looked like they had been sitting out all day. I didn't say anything because I was so tired from my travel and dying of hunger. Needless to say I didn't eat much. Half way through my meal she asked if I wanted anything to drink and I told her that I had ordered a beer. Finally they brought me my beer around the time I was gagging down the food. When I finished my beer I walked over to pay my bill and the lady couldn't run my card so I asked her if she could bill my room and she said she could, so I went that route. 30 minutes later the phone in my room rang so I answered and they told me I had to come down and pay for my meal at the restaurant to which I said they are gunna bill my room. They told me I had to come down and pay and at this point I'm in my pajamas getting ready for bed. I figured I would just square up with them in the morning because I had to get up early for work.
We were 3 nights there… People at the front desk were so helpful and nice… Rooms were clean… The Internet wasn't really good at all but everything else was.
The, wb, has, alot,, onthe, web, site.
I attended a 2 day training course, didn't stay overnight. Overall impression of the hotel is its dirty and tired. The conference rooms need major renovations, the walls are stained and the windows are dirty. The conference room chairs can be classified as torture devices, so old and the chairs need cleaning. The staff was friendly, but the public areas of the hotel were dirty. The restrooms were filthy, sinks and toilets were filthy. The restaurant food was greasy and unappetizing, however the staff did their best. I definitely would not recommend this hotel for any training or conferences.
Will not stay there again… facility is in need of a major refresh but there is no excuse for being dirty. Outside the garbage cans are over flowing, broken glass in parking lot and litter everywhere. Inside bathrooms in lobby area were too dirty for my wife to use on our way to breakfast so we had to return to my room. Room bathroom floors need major cleaning, tired of long black hair on clean towels and paint job in the room is so thin you can see a shadow of the wall studs. In short, last visit I had no hot water this trip just plain dirty. Never again.
Horrible mattresses, sunken and old. Maid was in my room without my permission when out to lunch even though I had the "Do not disturb" sign on the door. Noisy, the doors slam so loudly it scares you. Late night party next door, you can hear everything going on. Charged for a night I didn't stay, I dusted the place myself. Just not a good experience. On the plus side, the free breakfast was kinda nice and the employees are very nice.
The room was clean, good rate, and close to convention center. The area is a bit sketchy but it's tacoma.
Be weary staying here. My car was broken into, and back window smashed. Of course, no cameras watching the parking lot. They had one loan security officer there, but that didn't phase them from breaking my window for a smash and grab. When I spoke to the officer, he stated it happens a lot here and it's easy targets. Same thing stated by the auto glass place fixing my windows. This place has a rep. There's a reason they don't take responsibility for any damage done.
Good location, reasonable price, enough room, instant hot shower, free internet. Noticeable road and neighbor noises, worn carpeting and draperies.
The people at the front desk were nice and the room was clean and accommodating. And the TV had has access to plenty of cable channels. The only issue I had with this location is that the continental breakfast was well below par for La Quinta. I got the impression that they did this on the purpose so that you’d be encouraged to pay for a breakfast from the in house restaurant.
Amazingly comfortable beds. Great service. Have stayed at this location a couple of times, and have been happy each time.
After reading reviews we were wondering if we would regret reserving a room here, but there were no regrets. The room was clean and comfortable. Heat/air was easy to use. Breakfast gives a choice of a free continental breakfast or order off the menu and pay for it. After a week of continental breakfast elsewhere we chose to order. Food was good, service was great. Although I wasn't thrilled with the location (the area is pretty industrial) it had easy access to I5. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Vanessa had a mad rush of guests all at one time. She handled check-in, getting carts, answering questions and phones. The hotel is clean. After a hard week at work this was perfect.
The ladies at the front desk were very nice and welcoming, so we thought we were at a nice place. Once we got to our room, it was the complete opposite! Our room was on the top floor. It smelled like old cigarettes so bad that we had to immediately go ask to be moved to a new room. The front desk so kindly moved us to a room that didn't smell as bad. Still, it was not very comfortable. The entire hotel was just dirty. The paint looked nasty, most of the doors look like they have been kicked in a time or two, and there were dirt marks on almost every wall. Old "pop corn" ceilings with water stains are not a good look. It was just gross. It's in desperate need of a renovation and a deep cleaning. Although it's in a great location to stay in when theres an event at the Tacoma Dome, I'd rather pay the extra money to take a cab to and from a hotel a few more miles away! For the price we payed, we expected a little better.
Overall it was fine. Bathrooms could use an upgrade. Windows need to be replaced! Rooms were clean and presentable.
Horrible service are you kidding me these people are so unprofessional and disrespectful its not even funny we had already booked a room and even paid for it then they were complaining that we walked through the kitchen area because we were confused about how to get to the lobby horrible service we want a refund and will be talking to the manager probably tomorrow. We got a room at the silver cloud on ruston way instead promptly and respectfully. Go to them instead awesome service.
I am a soldier that stayed here for 3 days due to reporting early and I have to say in my personal experience, I had very little issues, the staff was very professional, attentive, and courtesy, I even got help with them calling a cab for me to the base, at the time I didn't have a number for one. The beds were clean, no odors, and I felt right at home. The TV and bathrooms were very maintained and had no issues. The A/C and Heater controller thing worked when I was freezing with no probs. Only Issue I might regard is the lights were very dim even when all were on, so they could've been replaced. Other than that, they have a free breakfast, but I wouldn't suggest it, not very filling, but Denny's is close by so no worries. Also the price is a tad higher but I think I got my money's worth. Hope this Review helps.
Ugly worst motel I have ever been into my entire life, dirty sheets, marks on wall bad TV I HATED IT.
Hotel rooms could use an upgrade and maintenance overall. Dirty blanket in closet, stained comforter, needs paint and updated bathroom fixtures, mattresses need replacing. We kept rolling to the middle. The phone was broke, the light shades need thorough cleaning or replacement. The bathroom sink would not drain. The popcorn ceilings need to go. I could go on but I won't. It is not a horrible room but I will choose another one next time I am in the area. Unless they remodel.
Hotel was very clean. Beds were plush and comfy. Bathroom large, clean, and well-lit. Service was prompt and friendly. Easy to find, safe neighborhood. Nice pool and hot tub. Would have gotten another star if the breakfast had some kind of protein besides hard-boiled eggs, but the fresh fruit was nice :).

Great hotel… clean slightly noisy due to the location. Cute pool and hot tub. Very friendly staff but my only complaint was in the 3 1/2 days there we had no one clean our room. It was odd. Not a big issue but just odd.
