First off this is honestly the first and review I have ever left. I judge a company by service, and this place failed to a perfect 10. Booked on Priceline prepaid two nights. Upon arrival on 12/26 an emergency popped up and informed hotel I had to check out early am and did not need the room the following night. Giving them plenty of notice they offered me no discount or credit on a future stay. Pinned all blame on Priceline who pinned blame on them. I would hope to hear from a manager on this and would gladly change my review. At this point I do not want anything free but an explanation of why.

Their bar patio service leaves MUCH to be desired. We had great first round of drinks, great appetizers… our entree’s, (steak frites) both arrived cold, and overcooked. Our second round of drinks took 40 mins to get. We gave up and left. Great setting. Seriously understaffed. Especially for a weekend like we just ended: UT Parents Weekend, and Austin Film Festival. Problems in management?

I stayed at the InterContinental for a work conference, and on my first day there, left my cell phone in an Uber ride. The staff at this hotel was so helpful and accommodating in helping me get it back, I am grateful. Rooms were very nice, work out room was great, and prices competitive. Definitely would stay here again.

Horrible experience at the bar! Spent an evening here & the bartenders were extremely rude & the service was slow (although it was not busy). The Manager Peter tried to justify the poor treatment by saying that they “were stressed”. Not sure how being stressed at your job gives you the right to give bad service with a scowl? This was by far our worst customer experience ever. Do yourself a favor & don’t go to the bar here!

They only have valet parking and it's $45 A-day. And there's no free Internet or Wi-Fi. That's $15 a day. Next time I'll stay somewhere else.

Terrible valet service. Vehicle was damaged and the only resolution given by the valet manager Rudy was to come back and see the garage. He stated that it's not possible to damage a vehicle and if we wanted to proceed with the report they would have to file a police report. The accountability and customer service related to complaints are poor.

Great Austin location. Lots of bars & restaurants in walking distance. Terrace has a wonderful view, Bar & Restaurant have great food & service. Room was clean, cozy w/ a great Smart TV loaded w/ cable & movie channels. Refrigerator is full of tempting snacks, drinks & alcohol. Coffee & tea available in your room. Robe, slippers, & lots of needed extras in the room like a make-up mirror. Gym has lots of machines & free weights, spa & indoor pool are clean. Hotel has a nice smell. Staff is Mostly helpful & friendly. 16th floor — great view. Negatives: room is a bit small, bed is very firm, pillows are All the same firmness, towels aren't soft. I did ask for a softer pillow option. The Saturday night front desk staff member was very condescending when I requested a softer pillow. I had recent neck surgery & just needed something not so stiff. I was Never given another pillow. Overall a 4 star experience.

They went above and beyond with first class service at every turn, from valet to the front desk staff to the beautiful bar and restaurant. The food was amazing and the location couldn’t possibly be better. They even let me check out at one because I had so much fun the night before. I stay in Austin all the time and this has been my best experience so far!

Wonderful experience. My wife and I loved the hotel, the staff, and the room. I’ve been a IHG member for years. If you are planing on staying here or another Intercontinental Hotel more than one in the year I would recommend upgrading your membership to Ambassador. Well worth the cost.

I have had a great stay here. The rooms are beautiful with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Everything you need for a great stay in Austin but there are probably a lot of hotels in Austin that fit this bill. What sets this place apart is the employees and their helpfulness. Jester Zinn greeted me upon arrival. He was friendly and professional. Throughout my stay he went above and beyond to make me feel at home. I had a great stay at the InterContinental. I highly recommend it if you are in Austin.

Very well situated between the capital and the Congress Ave bridge to see the bats feed and they have Tesla destination charger! And the room was beautiful and very comfortable bed! And great if you have kids because there is separation of space with French doors and a half bath! Parking is $42 per day but at least there is plenty to walk to.

The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I spoke with Donna over the phone during our first reservation to celebrate a birthday and she made sure our stay was amazing. They even left dessert and a card in our room. Our second recent stay was just as great. We have no reason to stay anywhere else in downtown Austin. — Scott.

Friendly staff, nice lobby, bars and rooms. Down side : rooms were hot, thermostat wouldn’t go lower than 65 degrees which felt like 68-70 in the Austin heat. Also bed bugs! We stayed 2 weeks ago. I called to let them know, they told me they’d call me back to handle the situation and they still haven’t.

The A/C would not get cold. We constantly kept it running for the 2 nights and it would still be humid/hot in the room with the blinds closed and temp in 90s outside… even at night… so don’t give me that 30 degree difference myth. I keep my home at 68 to give you an idea of what I am accustomed to. I loved the vanity space in the bathroom complete with a chair. They charged a $100 pet fee. I had 2 tiny dogs. I’m not sure if it is usually 50/per. Staff was great. Location was prime for us walking the dogs multiple times a day to the Capitol. Two Starbucks and multiple bars within short walking distance. I think valet was around $40 a night.

Horrible experience at check in! Valley staff didn’t acknowledge us. I asked the lady that checked us in if my lifted truck would fit in there garage & she responded horribly! You’ll have to park it yourself if it doesn’t! Horrible experience, don’t recommend! Well, only nice thing was the restaurant staff when we had breakfast & checked out.

A good hotel with nice large rooms. Parking is very expensive at about $50 per night or a little less. The staff needs to do a better job of cleaning the rooms. Our mini bar was not full when we got to the room, so I had to go to the front desk to clear up this problem. The location is very good and there's a nice bar.

We booked two rooms several weeks in advance through Expedia. They were non-refundable rooms. The next day, after discovering the hotel does not have parking, we tried to cancel. Expedia graciously asked the hotel to cancel our reservation. The hotel never responded to several emails from us asking for the same. They charged us the full amount, no refund. We had to have the parking as we live 15 miles away from Austin and cannot walk from any public parking garage (we are in our seventies, and my mother-in-law, the 3rd guest is 94}. Zero empathy, zero communication, zero consideration. A zero hotel.

Had a fine experience here. Pros: The room was clean and cozy, bathroom is well lit, and nothing out of the ordinary Cons: Couldn't find the fan for the restroom and the pillows are huge but not supportive at all. Breakfast options are also incredibly expensive.

It was very beautiful and well decorated. The biggest complaint I have is how ridiculous their setup is. There are 3 mirrors: one in bathroom, one in entrance hallway, and one in the room behind the desk. The one in the bathroom is above everything so the lowest I can see is my neck (I'm 5'3"). Since it is so tall and behind the toilet/sink, it was very hard to see yourself clearly when getting ready. The one in the hallway is too dark even with all the lights on due to light placement and intensity. The one behind the desk is, well, behind the desk. Also too far to see yourself clearly. The room was also rather small but it works. Bed wasn't very comfortable; couldn't sleep very well, and woke up with neck pain (thick pillows). It's right in the middle of everything though, pretty much, so we walked everywhere no problem.

Annual Sales Team meeting was held in Austin for my company. Easy to book multiple rooms. We scheduled a meeting space and even breakfast for the space. We had a wonderful time and will be coming back for our next meeting! Great staff, great location, great accommodations, beautiful rooms! Look forward to staying there again!

This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever had the privilege of entering. Wow. Absolutely blown away by the amenities. Everything was so well kept and I felt at ease with its peaceful energy.

Ok the basic room has way more amenities and space than the Driskill’s basic room, but the service was not as nice. The elevator situation is also way better than the Driskill’s. Granted we did check in during Sxsw but both the valet and the bellhop were confused when we said we were staying the night and our room wasn’t ready until 3:30pm (check in is at 3pm) Overall though very nice hotel enjoyed the location and ambiance.

This is a beautiful hotel. We visited the bar and easily would have had a whole bottle of wine had it not been for the sewer gas smell enveloping our table every time the exterior door opened. Great place but fill your floor drains in the kitchen!

The amazing, beautiful architecture. The history is interesting and educational. The service is top knoch. Elegant decor. Friendly staff, very accommodating! I loved The Club, dining room. I would recommend staying here to anyone wanting a great place in the downtown Austin area.

Came here for a night with my wife and son so we could spend the weekend downtown for my son's birthday. I let the hotel staff know upon booking that it was his second birthday and when we got to our room there was a beautiful dessert and card waiting for him. Such a wonderful surprise, and great to see people still go above and beyond! Thank you!

Always happy with the service. It was my wife's birthday and I was unable to sneak away to plan something special. On the day of arrival the staff sent up a little birthday dessert and a card after we settled in a little. I was so appreciative beyond words. We have loved the Stephen F Austin for a few years now and even more so now.

The place is well located and convenient to many amenities. They have a good restaurant at the ground floor with good food and company. For the night that you don't feel like getting out of the hotel, there is nice bar with chairs in the balcony that you can also order a snack. We really enjoyed it and for what we paid we have a good time and great service. One inconvenience is the parking, I don't like valet parking but here I was forced to get it because it was the most convenient way as parking places were a bit far away.

Great place, lacks a few amenities I am used to at other hotels like most Marriott properties. Other than that service is great, and the staff at this location are very polite.

We chose the Stephen F Austin for our wedding night. Unfortunately they forgot that, despite the fact we wrote it down several times during the booking process. The room was okay, but the layout was odd for a suite. We were also disappointed that a suite would have a tub that was incredibly small, and made out of cheap plastic. The fridge is packed with over priced snacks, and if you attempt to move them your room is automatically charged. The small space left for us to use was not big enough for a single bottle of beer. Overall it was an ok experience, but for a wedding night in one of their suites, we expected more for our money.

Fantastic Hotel! The staff is great. Rooms are very nice with super comfortable beds. There is a great restaurant connected as well. There is also a upstairs, bar with outside balcony overlooking the action on the streets.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and in the middle of downtown. Everything was within walking distance. The hotel staff were wonderful and made our anniversary stay special.

First, the good. Most of the staff was friendly and the restaurant/bar connected to the room is good. They have happy hour even on weekends. Now the "needs improvement" section… first of all, we had a dog at this "pet friendly" hotel. I understand that some of the nicer hotels require pet deposits, but this is no W Hotel. And no where on any of the confirmations I got did it say that there was one! So I drive in with my dog, check in (dog right next to me) and the lady is very pleasant but doesn't make me sign anything for him or make me pay anything. Great! Now we went out for some late night food around midnight and left the dog in the hotel and he was barking. Noise complaint… I get it. (It might be helpful to note here that you can hear everything going on in the room because the walls are so thin and the rooms are on the small side. ) But the lady who calls me starts chastising me for not having paid the $100 non-refundable pet deposit! Excuse me?!? I've paid plenty in hotel and parking alone, and now I have to pay that! So the next morning I talk to a supervisor who basically blames me for all of this (her staffs lack of concern over the guest with the dog) and says my 12 lb Bichon is a "liability". So if you don't have a pet and don't mind listening to your neighbors, then this place is fine. As for me, my dog, and my hard earned money, we'll be going across the street! No pet deposit required and super cool rooftop bar!

My mom and I stayed here for two days and had great service the whole time. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and my mom genuinely loved the service from Dave, who was one of the valets. Somebody get that guy a raise!

Hotel is located is a great location in downtown Austin. They serve refreshing water in the foyer. The room we stayed in was a single king sized bed. The room was clean and comfortable. They have a pool, (indoor) and a restaurant patio.

Good, well run Hotel. Centrally located. Rooms are large and well appointed. 24-hour room service, which is good for late arrivals. Hotel is very accommodating with late check-outs.

The bar at the top of the grand staircase inside the Stephen F. Austin hotel is a hidden gem, offering craft cocktails and local beer on tap, in a relaxing atmosphere. Step into the terrace for a lovely nighttime view of the city.

Great location, great service, the rooms are comfortable and not to expensive. The Roaring Fork is a great place to have dinner if you dont want to go out of the hotel.

The InterContinental is a classic structure with industry leading service and hospitality. Efficient yet un-intrusive attentiveness to detail and guest satisfaction whether visiting for professional events or a personal stay.

The location is great, wonderful view of the Capital. Walking distance to severalvenues if nightlife and eating. Only Valet parking and $38 per day per car (quite expensive) room was small as it is a 1924 building. The step into the bathroom is a toe stubber so be careful. Lovely staff and extremely helpful. Its quiet expensive and ask for a room without the construction noise its really loud.

Had an office Christmas party at the bar and the Roaring Fork restaurant downstairs. Courteous and helpful staff kept me in drinks the whole night. The decor is beautiful, as well as the bathrooms. Great place for a nightcap.

They checked me in almost 4 hours earlier than planned and I was very happy. I loved my room It was very clean, modern, quiet, and spacious. There was a Keurig in my room, which was awesome and I had the green tea. There were already phone chargers in my room so I didn't even have to take mine out. Everything I needed was in this room and right next door was the Slake Cafe for lunch, which was very convenient.

This IC is awesome! The room was so thoughtfully decorated and arranged. All the electronic charging ports were clearly, yet tastefully, accessible. The service here was also outstanding.

If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site. The hotel is nicely decorated and very classy. I had the smallest room and thought that it was still spacious enough. The bed was comfortable. The room was well stocked. The bathroom had all necessary toiletries, and the bar had a corkscrew, wine glasses, and was fully stocked). There were plenty of movie channels if you want to stay in. However, the location will make you want to go out. There is plenty to do (nightlife, running trials, the Capital building, restaurants, and stores). The biggest complaint that I have is there is not an outdoor pool. There is an indoor pool, but it is more for doing morning laps. It is not for enjoying a few hours by the pool. It is also a bit pricey, but since we were part of a wedding, we were given a block price.
