Experience the historic “Jewel of San Antonio”. Originally built in 1906 during one of the city architectural renaissance eras, featuring a Victorian style red brick and limestone exterior. Original hardware and trim throughout the interiors and some great views from the balconies on third floor and courtyard. Hotel was moved from its original location in 1985, after six years of planning. Marissa and Johnny are excellent and will take good care of you during your stay. Staff was helpful and attentive. Great location, walking distance from river walk and arts village. Rooms as was the case in older buildings are not huge. Decor and upholstery are a bit older, but everything works well. Many renovations taking place on exterior and outside balconies. Tip: Downtown location VALET ONLY parking $35/ day so plan ahead.

Excellent location but hotel is a bit old, they say it is a 4 star hotel but it is actually equivalent to a 3 star hotel.

Um. No. Good location. No ammenities at all ZERO. Motel 6 gives more. No kitchen under Reno… No safes in room, no fridge in room, not even bottled water by coffee maker. Nothing. Have to walk 3 blocks for breakfast or anything to drink, but with no fridge can't keep cold. I've stayed at pretty much all the hotels in SA. I'd go anywhere else next time. Never even seen more than 3-4 people on staff at anytime on 4th of July weekend. It was our 22nd anniversary and I just wish I was elsewere.

Lovely hotel with fascinating history. Located less than five minutes from Riverwalk. Bar serves excellent cocktails.

My wife and I had a great lunch on Mother's Day with a special menu. Every plate was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The entire meal was delicious and well balanced.

Classic and historic hotel. Very good for people who love Victorian style cozziness. Very close to Riverwalk and Hemisfair Park where you can go to the Tower of America to see San Antonio from height.

Horrible service in the restaurant. Waited an average of 30min for drinks. Food was good service was bad.

It's a small hotel, and it's a very old style (it even uses house keys and not key cards! ), But it was a wonderful location, had good service, and was decently priced.

Came here for the first time for a company Christmas party. The food was excellent as well as the atmosphere. The staff was also very friendly.

Our Company's Christmas party was held here and the Staff was very helpful and on hand with anything we needed. The Venue and atmosphere were gorgeous.

I recently stayed at a competitor, and had a terrible experience, so I felt obligated to leave a review at a location that does things right. The staff were warm and friendly, the decor was exquisite and tasteful, and the food was top notch. If they don't already, Michelin stars should be awarded. All around the service was top notch. Our room was large and clean. Honestly it's easier to find things to complain about. You don't realize quality until you compare it to something inferior. We will be back.

The room was old fashioned but functional and charming. The staff was also friendly and helpful.

The hotel had visible mold in the air vents. This was present across multiple rooms as we requested a change but it was the same in each room. There's construction going on in the building and so there are no amenities that I could see available. The hotel is very old looking and with outdated furniture and fixtures. It's not located on the Riverwalk like so many hotels are and definitely overpriced for the quality that you receive. I would not recommend to anyone. If you're going to stay in San Antonio for vacation stay at one of the hotels on the Riverwalk such as the Hilton or the Marriott.

Celebrating the Solar Eclipse in San Antonio, Blonde Creative had a great time with friends on the balcony of The Fairmount Hotel, overlooking Hemisfair.

The first room we were in was damp and kind of gross. We switched, and there was some sort of incessant noise from the sprinkler. The bath doesn't drain water unless you hold a lever down. No free water. Wifi was spotty.

Love this hotel! We've stayed there several times now, it is home away from home. The staff is so friendly and so welcoming, and the rooms are beautifully decorated. I love being so close to La Villita, the riverwalk, great restaurants, and the convention center and Hemisfair Park. Best place to stay in San Antonio.

This is the WORST HOTEL in San Antonio. Everything from cockroaches in the room to bed mites. Bathroom has mold from the fixtures to the ceiling. I had such a bad experience that the manager is not even present to hold accountability for theft in my room. Do not waste your time or money at this dump they call a hotel.

Great place to call hole while away from home in San Antonio. They were helpful and friendly. A great part of a fantastic trip!

Initially placed in a very small room with a musty smell. After allergies started acting up, Staff moved me to a larger room which was better. Natural lighting in room was good but only two small bedside lamps so at night room was dark and hard to work in. Overall the hotel need major updates. Bathrooms in particular. Cleanliness as mentioned by others is an issue. No restaurant on site which as a single woman traveler is an issue at night.

Lovely place in a wonderful location for access to the River Walk and other San Antonio attractions! The only issue we had was with parking. The concierge mentioned the hotel's price was $21 for the night but didn't know the cost of the lot across the street. We parked across the street thinking it would be cheaper, but misunderstood the sign — actually ended up being $30 for the time we were there! Still we had a great time and especially enjoyed the Christmas decorations.

This hotel is definitely different than the other more modern hotels around the area. I loved how the furniture was all period, and how beautiful it all was. The bed was very comfy, the pillows were alright, and my room was nice. It was a little chilly, I would have liked a few more rugs around in my room over the hardwood floor. The bathroom was great, the water got super hot, and the lighting was really nice for doing my makeup. I enjoyed the robe they provided, the bathroom was stocked with nice toiletries, and the coffee was tasty. My room overlooked La Villita Village, and the restaurants/bars were a little loud on Saturday night. The staff were all really nice and helpful, and always greeted me when I came/left the hotel. I would stay here again, but would bring my slippers and hope that the restaurant on the first floor is open by then!

Experience was as described, great rooms that are impressively beautiful for how affordable it is. The only hiccup we had was the clerk handed us the wrong key first go around.

First off, I loved the history of the hotel, which is why I booked here instead of a newer hotel. However; the rooms were not very clean. There were scuff marks everywhere. We could barely use our key to get in the room. The lock randomly worked. They gave us horrible directions to a restaurant. The guy said it was a 20 minute walk, but it would have been about an hour and involved us crossing the highway. To top it off, my friend paid the valet cash when we got there. Well, when I was leaving I checked my account and saw I was charged for valet. I told the lady at the front desk and she told me it would be taken off. A week later, it was officially taken out of my account. I called and they are claiming they never received the cash! Extremely upset and will never stay there again!

Don't go here! Service is terrible! It is not clean at all! We asked if a certain restaurant was close enough to walk to and the man at the desk said we could walk there when in fact you had to get on the highway to get to it! Also, DO NOT pay cash for the valet because they will pocket it and charge your card! The manager is never there. It was a terrible experience! Never staying here again!

The Fairmount is a beautiful historic hotel. There was some construction on the first floor where they're building a restaurant, but we never heard it. The room featured wood floors, marble countertops, brass fixtures, everything you'd expect from a historic Victorian hotel. My only complaint is that the room needed a deep clean; there were scuff marks on the walls and some of the caulk in the bathroom needed scrubbing. The hotel is very close to all of the downtown San Antonio attractions. La Villita, the Alamo, Tower of the Americas, and of course the River Walk were all within walking distance.

I'm so glad I got closed out of the soulless Grand Hyatt and stayed here. The room was charming but well appointed and super clean. The balcony looked out over a charming enclosed courtyard instead of the HVAC units I'm used to in a chain hotel. I wished I had more time in the room to enjoy sitting there. The furnishings are eclectic and a welcome change from the corporate look of a chain hotel. I never heard any other tenants during my stay. The hotel is _very_ convenient to the convention center — less than a 5 minute walk through what will become a nice park area (though it is currently under construction in May 2016). I thought that my room was more functional and less "precious " than some of the pictures on their website showed, which I liked. The bathroom was quite functional, although the hot water took a minute to reach the room. A great experience.

Loved the decor of the historical hotel! Very nice! Was a little bummed that the restaurant & bar area was under renovation at the time of my stay. But we still had a great time!

Stayed in this cute Victorian hotel when my boyfriend and I went to San Antonio for my birthday. Our room had a good view and everything was clean. My only complaint is the restroom vent had a bag over it (Our room was on the second floor and I assume due to the remodeling and construction being done on the third floor. ) And the toilet stopped working twice. Super close to downtown! Literally a minute walk, if that, to the river walk. There's also no room service at all which sucked, but other than that is was really charming. Would stay again when I go back to San Antonio.
