Beautiful place to visit. Very tourist oriented. Nice beach, and very child friendly. Lovely play areas and playgrounds for children.

Catalina is amazing everyone is so friendly it’s so small and quaint.

Nice day trip. The island is a great place to go hiking, biking, camping and diving. Avalon Bay is amazing, hike the local hills for the best views of the city.

We have been coming to Catalina for over 25 years. We have rented houses and spent a week there when our kids were little and everyone loved it. It has always been a safe, relaxing and fun place to just get away. It’s got a very small town feel and everyone is friendly and welcoming.

The Edgewater hotel and or the portofino, Britany and Barbara at Edgewater are amazing customer service was amazing… Ghallons food and service was also over the top… Met some amazing people here. Very nice home away from home experience.

This place has the greatest and most helpful staff. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, you can't go wrong with this place. The view from the roof top is gorgeous.

Great beds. Super friendly staff. Clean! Took off one star cause the Wifi was awful. Had to download a movie over night to watch it the next day on the patio with breakfast. When we wanted to watch it at night since everything closed early. All well.

Beautiful place. Lots of wood detailing inside. Super clean! Lovely patio downstairs and bonus rooftop lounge. Friendly and accommodating staff. Many personal touches. Just a short walk from the main street. Highly recommended.

Visitor Center is always helpful. There's always something relaxing to do on Catalina. Of course staying there is always a little bit pricey.

The best place ever and I mean ever. Complementary water and snapples, breakfast, appetizers. They had the best service with the most helpful staff. Cool fish pond, fire pit and roof top. Went there with my parents and grandparents. Really just amazing really recommend.

Just a historic and iconic place to visit with family and friends! It's a must if you are visiting LAX, go rent a car and drive to Newport Beach or Long Beach and take Catalina flyer or any other transport that will take you to this wonderful island. So much great experience to have with family and friends!

Wonderful as always Catalina is beautiful as always. My only complaint is how expensive it is to ride over there. I'd go a lot more often if the Express weren't so expensive.

Fantastic! My first time to the island. We arrived on Monday, October 30th, so it was less crowded than usual. We took the bus tour. Our tour guide was informative about the Island (I think she mistakenly switched the burial ground of William Wrigley Jr. (who bought Catalina Island in its early days), from Glendale to Catalina when actually it's the opposite. Nevertheless, she made the tour humorous. We also rented a golf cart which is really worth it to drive around the isle. We got to walk to the casino in the early evening and since it wasn't crowded it made it as if we owned the island and that made it special for us. Thumbs up!

Good folks. We would stay here again. Helpful, courteous, friendly staff. Nice, cool, clean room. A one minute walk to the water (and the main drag). We arrived early and they stored our luggage and then allowed us to check-in as soon as the room was ready — 2 hours early. They also stored our luggage after check-out so we could play until our boat arrived. If you have health issues you might bear in mind that there is no elevator and that there are two flights of step from street level to the lobby. Also, Wi-Fi was not the fastest. But a great experience overall.

I didn't go into the Chamber of Commerce that I know of but they are starting to revitalize their downtown area in Avalon. However if I can give them a message I will tell them to work on their internet Wi-Fi signals. Unless you have Verizon the signal is spotty at best I had Metro PCS and even standing next to a router it would not let me upload a photo I had to wait till I got off the island.

Great location and a lovely boutique hotel Rooms were fantastic and the staff could not have been more pleasant. And it's the only place we stayed in California where the snacks were complimentary; I realise this may not sound like a big deal but the kids loved it and it was fabulous to have some snacks and a bottle of wine on the amazing roof terrace as the sun went down. The Avalon Hotel was a really super-relaxing place to stay.

Tour Catalina is your best bet for info and to book tours, but if your on the pier scratching your head on what to do these guys will turn you in the right direction.

Beautiful getaway near LA. Family friendly place with loads of activities like parasailing, kayaking, hiking snorkeling, zip line, wall climbing, golfing and many other adventurous activities. Great for a day or outdoor retreat.

This small Craftsman style boutique hotel is a true gem! From the moment we arrived through our 2 night stay the service was impeccable. All the staff and particularly our 3 concierge hosts were very pleasant, helpful and delightful to converse with. Whether it was a request, a direction, assistance or small talk they each made us feel very welcome, and treated us as if we were visiting friends. The room was charming, clean and very well appointed with an abundance of storage space, toiletries, drinks, snacks and particularly noted, the variety of pillow firmness' to accommodate any one persons taste. Eating breakfast in the patio/courtyard was reminiscent of ones backyard with its patio furnishings, fire pit, charming koi pond filled with beautiful, happy, healthy koi, attractive landscape, and all capped off with a couple hummingbird feeders. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay here any more than we did. And might add we have done a lot of extensive traveling over the years. The only recommended suggestion is adding shower grab bars as a safety feature. Again a big thank you and our compliments to the entire staff. We will recommend highly the Avalon Hotel to all our friends planning a visit to Catalina.

Beautiful scenery of ocean and hills. Many fun activities to do including ziplining, parasailing, snorkeling, arcade, kayaking and more. However, everything is pricey so bring $$$ if you want to do activities. Otherwise, on the beach enjoy the lovely view.

From New Orleans and I came to visit my son who lives and works on the island. Absolutely love it. With its little restaurants and little shops. Love getting up in the morning and being able to walk to the little place around the corner from the Hermosa hotel that serves breakfast and fresh coffee. Stayed at the Hermosa and it might not be one of the fancier places on the island but the staff is awesome.

Small little island nice to have water fun not a place like to turnt up it's family environment are just nice low-key place to chill as a couple the food not the best need season or just get a room with kitchenett and cook your own food save way more for fun things to do.

The staff was extremely helpful, accommodating and efficient. Their amenities are relaxing, refreshing and useful. We brought our toddler and she enjoyed the koi pond. Our family had a great stay, and will make sure to return.

Over the past several years I've traveled to quite a few different places and stayed in a variety of locations. None of the other locations even came close to our stay at the Avalon. Their Hospitality begins before you ever even arrived when they provide you with a voucher for a taxi waiting after you arrive from the boat. On our particular trip we arrived early hoping to just be able to store our bags at the location but to our surprise the room was available and instead of making us wait to the check-in time they provided us with our room then. They then personally walked us up to the room and showed us in rather than just telling us where it was. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the bathroom resembles one that you would find inside someone's home and not a hotel. Additionally there were so many small complimentary things around the hotel including small candies drinks and snacks. Every time we left the front door we were greeted and often asked how our day was going by the staff. On checkout day they were kind enough to store our bags for us so that we could continue to explore the island and they also allowed us access to the hotel until the time we left. I stated before between my girlfriend and I we've done our share of traveling but no other location has been as amazing as the Avalon. We will most definitely be returning.

Fantastic location. The rooms are comfortable and large. Getting to the hotel from the ferry was so easy and everything you need is literally around the corner.

As far as hotels go on this small island, the Avalon offered a great experience with the rooms and service being exactly what you'd want to have on this island.

The room is very nice and spacious (for Catalina. ). The free breakfast is good. The bed is very comfortable. Staff is very courteous and helpful.

No elevator, you have to walk up 3 levels with your luggage and strollers, etc. Inconsistent staff and guest experience. Rooms are outstanding. Free breakfast consists of coffee and all the bread you can eat — not as advertised.

The staff is excellent, the rooms are nice and comfortable. Great breakfast in the mornings and warm homemade cookies at 8pm. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel. Really nice people. We arrived on Friday to a wine and cheese reception in the pretty gardens. Very clean, nice products in the rooms, snacks, coffee, snapple. Comfortable beds with different pillow choices for firmness! Nice spread for breakfast in the morning. Everyone was lovely.

We had an amazing stay! The staff was friendly and accommodating. We came in to run the Catalina Island Marathon and could not have asked for a better experience! The hotel was quiet, clean and beautifully quaint!

This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The staff handled our every request and the rooms were comfortable and lovely. We stayed four nights, two in an oceanfront mini suite and two in a room with a king size bed and a balcony. If you're looking for a classy hotel, this will serve you very well.

This is one of the nicest hotels to stay at on Catalina Island. They even have fireplaces in some of the units. You can rent "the beach house, " which is a huge unit located above the marketplace. Great place to host wedding parties.

The moment you walk into the lobby it's breathtakingly beautiful! We loved our weekend stay here. We stayed in the Avalon suite. Jetspa bathtubs and a fireplace. Very central above shops and a brew house that serves danishes, pizza, beer, and coffee. The rooms were very private and quiet. We had an issue with our keycard and the staff immediately jumped up to help us. Very friendly staff! I can't wait to go back again!

Loved it! Concierge was very helpful with places to eat and things to do. Rooms were really nice. Our 'standard' room had a luxe comforter, jetted tub, and a flat screen smart TV and a Blu ray player! The room was immaculately clean and the maid even fluffed up the body pillow my boyfriend brought and laid it nicely on the bed. Outside our room was an adorable little courtyard with lots of plants and statues with a nice big gas fire pit. They were camoflauged speakers throughout the courtyard that played soft music too! No kidding.

This boutique hotel is really quite nice. The rooms have been renovated however the hotel itself is over 100 years old and it still hold that old world charm. There are photos of old Hollywood who stayed there. The rooms are comfortable and cozy and make you feel at home. The marble adorned bathroom is nice, with separate shower and the deepest 6 jetted tub you've ever seen, Japanese style. A smart TV with Blu ray player for those needed breaks between having fun in the city or if the weather gets bad. The beds and pillows are really comfortable too. The staff was nice and helpful. The garden courtyard has a fire pit, fountain and music. Highly recommended for your Catalina trip!

Very nice little cottage, 1 double bed and 2 single bed. Great for families. Also has free breakfast as a surprise on a rainy day morning.

Not good noise insulation at all. Heard outside noises as well as rooms nearby. The room and bathroom were not in cleanest condition when we arrived. Specifically shower needed some attention and the room curtains had a rip. Ok location, although up a small steep hill. Staff was always nice and pleasant.

Its great little hotel, nothing fancy but is great. Beds are pretty comfy and free Wi-Fi, that works for me.

Clean, nice rooms. The fresh donuts brought in for breakfast are a nice touch. The 2nd and 3rd floor decks provide a nice view of the bay.

Wow, what an incredible place to stay while in the magical town of Avalon. We had a beautiful room right across the way from the beach, with amazing harbor views from our balcony. The bed was huge and comfortable, the furniture was great, the jacuzzi/tub was so relaxing, and the decor was modern and chic. The staff was really nice and the breakfast every morning was excellent. We loved the cluster of shops on the hotel grounds, especially the cafe and arcade right below our room. Everything in town is a less-than 5-minute stroll away from the hotel, as it is centrally located on the main drag. The 4th-floor rooftop jacuzzi provided great views of the town and the harbor. My wife and I LOVED this place. And about Catalina in general, what a place! Just an hour ferry ride from Long Beach/San Pedro/Newport Beach. Catalina Express offers free round-trip rides on your birthday. Beautiful island with amazing flora and fauna on land and in the sea. Definitely recommend snorkelling and the glass bottom boats.

It's ok, but for the price we expected more. Rooms are TINY! Controls for the fan and lights also affect other rooms' lights and fans — which means others will also affect you, like it did to us. Bed is comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're planning to spend more than one night.

Wonderful place to stay. Great place to get away and relax. Every little detail has been taken care of. The patio has a beautiful Koi pond to sit next to while enjoying your continental breakfast. The staff was amazing, Laurie the Inn keeper is so hospitable. Can't wait to come back!

Good location. A short walk to the beach, restaurants, etc in Avalon. Although given the size of the town everything is pretty close. Staff was very nice and friendly. Our room was pretty cozy but had all the basics.

Had such a great experience here, we came for my birthday and stayed 2 nights. The staff was so nice. We stayed in room 221 the view was beautiful and so was the room, a little small but the king bed was comfortable and made up for it. Overall great experience! Definitely coming back next year.

The outside of the hotel was beautiful and the inside of the building was lovely as well. The second floor has a deck available to all guests during the day time and the third floor has lots of natural light from the skylights. However, the room we had, 309, was so tiny! The real problem was the shower. It was so small it made it incredibly difficult to shave. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and the room provided everything necessary. Granted, I can sleep anywhere. Included was a small breakfast that consisted of some fruit, rather dry scones, and mini muffins along with juice, tea, and coffee. Additionally, they provide as many beach towels as you would like and the internet connection is strong and fast. The front desk was very helpful with recommendations on activities to do and what companies to book with. I would come back!

Pretty central location right off the main Street and right next to Vons. The rooms are tiny though so don't expect anything spacious. They were doing some construction so the lights were out for a while. The complimentary breakfast was pretty limited but the scones were tasty. Overall an average experience.

Amazing Place to Stay! Every little thing is taken care of for you, by the terrific owners and staff. The grounds are beautiful, with koi to pet & sea scape tiles. Yummy breakfast in the courtyard, amazingly comfy beds, balcony bay views, and fantastic room amenities. I cannot wait to come back!

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Great woodwork, amazing courtyard, a koi pond maintained with love. The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathroom is gorgeous — great tile work, large, big tub, rainfall shower heads. The views from the 3rd floor are amazing, and if your room doesn't have a view you can just head up to the roof where they have a very nice patio area with great views. The hotel itself is located right next to the main waterfront walkway. This is an amazing place to stay, and the staff (I'm looking at you Lori :) are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I encourage anyone to stay here given the chance, I believe it to be the best of the high end hotels in Catalina.

We had a blast, this Hotel was so clean and friendly, with wine, cheese and crackers starting at 4 to the wonderful breakfast in the mornings all fabulous. The staff was so helpful and so friendly. The grounds were kept very nice. The hotel is located in a great spot for shopping and dinning. Great place.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for a couple nights and this place is amazing! The hotel is pretty expensive but so worth it. They have a rooftop that has a great view of the city and you can see the beautiful blue water and the beach. We stayed in one of the garden view rooms and we could still see a lot of the ocean and beach. The garden area even has a breathtaking view. And it's in a really nice location. The ladies at the front desk were amazing as well. The three ladies, Kim, Lori and one other lady with blonde hair whose name I cant remember (Sorry! ), were so accommodating to what we needed. And we were pretty needy since it was out first time on Catalina. On checkout day Kim let us know that we could still keep our bags there even though we no longer had a room. We took a late ferry so we were relieved to have our bags off our hands while we walked around. They made sure our stay on the island was perfect, and it was! I would definitely go back.

Do not stay here. Do not work here. They will fire you for fun. For 11.00 an hour they have you doing reservations, front desk, pool boy, coffee boy, bellman, and janitorial for 2 hotels. Now here is the catch… if you do your job that means you can't be behind the desk so if the bitch owner Nora sees you aren't behind the desk you will be fired with no questions asked. I was fired for doing my job. Wtf.

My husband and I loved Hotel Catalina. We had a great view of the water and the staff were all very nice.

We had a good experience here, staff was helpful… we needed a cork opener and sure enough they had it at the desk, the rooms were small but homey and vintage I liked it personally… will be returning! had such a great time at Catalinas! =)

Thank you for being such wonderful hosts. We got a good deal on our cottage and were very well received by the staff. I didn't expect eggs Benedict for breakfast, and the juice and coffee was just fine for our morning start. They even cleaned right up after our son made a mess with his donut, even though we offered to clean. Thank you — we'll be back!

The Hotel Catalina Courtyard Garden Wing was a treat. We came to visit for our Wedding anniversary on November 28, 2013 stayed for an overnight experience and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff were extremely cordial and helpful. The rooms were renovated from the former Hotel Vincentes. We had stayed here four time previously 22 years ago and has improved in every aspect. Rooms were comfortable, clean, large flat panel TV, A/C worked appropriately and very quiet environment. Victorian setting, close to the beach with many restaurants close-by. Continental breakfast! The hotel has a history of actors and actresses visiting and are displayed on the hallway. We would recommend this for friends and families. We believe you'll find it a treat as well.
