I just ate the best eggplant Parmesan I have ever eaten in my life at their restaurant!

Our son left his new Slush somewhere during check in and the staff went way out of their way to find out who it belonged to and return him. Unexpected and very much appreciated! We thought we would send a picture of him with all his Slush’s together. We enjoyed our stay, loved the rooms and your hospitality will be something we will talk about for years. Thank you!

Awesome hotel just outside of town. Only a 5 min shuttle from the main strip. The hotel has a nice pool, and a kind and helpful staff run the grounds. Great food at the Seaport Bistro restaurant. Highly recommend this hotel.

The wife and I stop by on a day trip to check out the facility. Certain times of the year may be a little muggy as there is very little sea breeze in the back of the Canyon. The facility is a little different from most Holiday Inns you may be used to but it's probably where we will try to stay a week in the near future. The staff was very accommodating in answering our questions and it appears they have a shuttle that goes into town and to the boat dock on a fairly regular basis. That's all for now. I'll let you know how the week goes here in the near future.

I personally was not a guest, but I work on the island and walked up to it. Its a very nice hotel but it is a very steep walk uphill to get to the hotel. I know that they do provide complimentary shuttles for their guests so that's a relief. Other than that the hotel is spacious and nice and has a wonderful view of the island and water. The last thing I noticed was that their ice machine was out.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. The shuttle drivers were awesome. Although, the place was just not clean. The hot tub was dirty. The room was not clean, there was hair all over, the huge gap on the bed frame was gross and the room was full of ants. The front lobby floor was filthy when we checked out at 7am. This place needs a major upgrade for 300 a night.

Stayed here on business and it was a very nice hotel. Had a great room that was very clean. Had a nice snack shop if you needed food during your stay. Staff was very nice and the shuttle was great getting to town and back. Hillside just outside the hotel had a great view of the entire harbor.

The staff was excellent! The room was ok, the problems were with the microwave refrigerator and kurig — non of them worked and there were not enough outlets to plug them in. Eventually the maintenance guy came in and changed what was plugged in but none worked at the same time. The hotel shuttle was a joke, we walked up and down most of the time. Again the drivers were nice and helpful but there is no rhyme or reason to when they come and go. Except for the first and last shuttle of the day. The Seaport restaurant was frozen appetizers heated up but the breakfast was good, again nice staff but the tables surrounding us were not cleaned before we had already eaten and were leaving. The pool was nice but most of the time there were no pool Towels and we had to call and request them. We won’t be staying here again. It’s unfortunate but for the price there were too many reasons why I booked there that those amenities were not adequate or available.

We live on the island. Neighborhood street above Holiday Inn. We send all our company, relatives to the Hotel. Lovely place to holiday at. Lovely weather & tons to do. Highly recommend.

Great place, super relaxing. Therapist are thoughtful, intuitive, giving of themselves and skilled in body work. The couple's treatments include couple's showers. Wonderful. Love Catalina Island.

Off the main strip. The rooms are nice, but there is no room service and the shuttle stops at 9:30pm so plan ahead for late night food. Otherwise the service is great and the people are very friendly.

If you come to Catalina and want a great and relaxing experience, then this is your spot. Its not a far walk to the shops but yet nestled up the hill with great senic views and rooms are nice and comfy, staff was very polite and curtious. Very convenient shuttle to and from town all day no cost it runs every 15 minutes. Loved the experience here. And the Bistro was very impressive there, full menu, from waffles to King Crab just steps from your room…

Ofelia the manager was really helpful! the shuttle goes back and forth to town. The was a plus it made my kids very happy.

Don't get the IHG discount unless you like scam callers. Now that that is covered the hotel was super cool. Really nice rooms and views of the bay. Nice walk to the beach and we saw deer on both walks. But again Holiday Inn figure out what you are scam caller or hotel chance I can't take you as a serious company if your going to run these bad end deals. Grow up and run a solid product.

The staff has been great. We arrived early and the front desk did what they could to get us in our room ASAP. The walls are thin and can hear everything going on in a 20 foot radius. Free shuttle to and from the Catalina Express, as well as down town. We opted to walk it as it was maybe a half mile and quite peaceful. Would stay again.

Rooms were noisy. I could hear the kid next door banging the walls and doors. Restaurant was overpriced and not worth it quality wise. Kids ready free, but it was still expensive. Also service at the restaurant was not that great. It's a bit far from town. There are shuttles, but they get full fast. Male housekeeper came into our room without knocking. Totally unacceptable. We brought it to the attention of the front desk and they didn't seem to care. Probably will stay elsewhere next time I visit.

Decent hotel. Floors were a bit sticky in the room. We could here the kid slamming doors from about 7-10pm. The restaurant left a lot to be desired. Husband got the fried chicken, which was soggy. I had the Mac n cheese which was drowned in low quality cheese. I ate maybe 5 bites and couldn't stomach anymore. Waitress didn't even ask if everything was ok when I left the full plate. Be warned, each refill of coke cost the price of the first one and they didn't mention that when they offered a "refill". To sum it up, hotel ok, restaurant not so much.

Ophelia was extremely accommodating — — My husband and I were celebrating 20yrs of love so I had a couple request. Minor issues @check-in but Ophelia (hotel manager took care of the situation without hesitation) I didn't have to go to the front desk — she actually came to our room to address our issues and was very professional and her hospitality was second to none! Big thumbs up to Ophelia @ Holiday Inn Express ♡♡♡♡♡♡ Truly appreciate all your help and addressing our concerns in timely manner! I'll be recommending Holiday Inn to all my family and friends. Great service, clean and updated rooms. Beautiful setting above the town. Pretty disappointed the spa and restaurant were closed upon arrival b/c it was Christmas Eve day and Christmas day. This should have been disclosed at the time of making the reservation.

The hotel is really nice and the rooms are great. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. We found pretty cool is that the hotel is next to the Catalina Cemetery where a lot of Catalina's early pioneers and historical people are buried. You won't be disappointed with the hotel, staff or surroundings.

Beds and sheets were really comfy. Bathroom was nice. Front desk wasn't very hospitable but then again the same can be said for the whole island. Asked front desk for pool towels, I was told they are down by the pool. When I got to the pool, no towels so I used my room towel. Jacuzzi had too much chlorine, my bathing suit got discolored. Seaport Bistro food was subpar at best. The hotel shuttle service and the sleep that I got were the best things about my stay here.

Super comfy bed, extremely friendly staff and front desk. Bathroom had a bit of mildew, but was still really nice. It's a hike from downtown, but not too bad and they have shuttles if you don't want to walk. They'll hold your bags after checkout, which is nice if your ferry is later and you have things to do.

The room decent and clean for the most part. Shower valve enclosure was hanging out of wall exposing opening for water to enter and cause water damage. Super thin door with sunlight shining through it. Phone with no labels and just buttons. Beds seemed comfortable and clean. TV was way out of date, small with picture all unadjusted and unclear. Huge pile of trash and junk out in the rear of hotel. Front service was below par. Upon arriving didn't receive a greeting or a welcome and felt like they were doing me a favor by getting my room. Some of the staff seemed more cordial, but some were not. Sensed some attitude and just bad energy right away. If a client/guest asks you to clarify something you don't answer by starting "like I told you. " Not professional. I travel a lot and when I'm spending hundreds of dollars to stay at your hotel all I expect is staff to be professional and very welcoming. Second night there was a guy at the desk with long grey hair sitting in the lobby watching TV with the glass door locked. When I tried to get in he gestured in a joking manor while sitting down with his hands up in the air like "what why are you bothering me and what do you want? " I honestly couldn't believe the guy worked there and thought he was a guest. I was there to deal with an issue with the room in a nice way, I was tired and it was late. I don't take myself too serious and was friendly with him but just found it very odd.

Stayed here for the jazz festival. Very overpriced for the accommodations. Had to keep calling back housekeeping because trash on the floor in bathroom, coffee spills on wall and mirror, bottom of beds cover with fabric that was dirty, linens not changed. No complimentary water in room, no working ice machines on floor, only in the main lobby down stairs. No screens on door or window to get fresh air. Front door of room has long cracks, like its been pieced together. Will not stay here again. Staff is rude when you inform them of problem.

The resort is located above the beautiful downtown Avalon. Customer service was helpful and the atmosphere was magical. Highly recommend.

Just spent two nights here with my 8 year old grandson… we had a fabulous time. The room was perfect… Restaurant was de-lish… My grandson loved the heated pool when we weren't at the beach… free shuttle was great to have… all in all we pretty much had a perfect stay… Can't wait to go back.

I stayed here on 8/25/2017 and 8/26/2017. On 8/23/2017, this Hotel charged my credit card $361.74, on 8/26/2017, this hotel charged my credit card $369.12 and $50.00. When I arrived for my stay on 8/25/2017, the male desk clerk said my card did not charge for the second night of $369.12 and on 8/26/2017, he charged my friend's card an additional (and different) amount of $405.72. When I returned to the mainland, my bank did confirm that in fact my card had been charged both nights without any problems (therefore, the male clerk was incorrect in his claim). This seems like a scam. As of 9/6/2017, this hotel has refused and failed to correct the overcharges of $405.72 and $50.00 and they do not have any interest in researching the matter or returning my phone calls. Ophelia (who answers the phone) says I must speak to their General Manager "Nichole Hohenstein" and Ophelia claims Nicole has been gone for the last five days on Holiday. My calls go to Nicole go to voice mail and are not returned. Nichole has not answered or returned my phone calls. Ophelia says her invoice shows only two charges of $361.74 and $405.72 both on 8/25/2017. This is NOT acceptable. The invoice Ophelia has printed does not match the charges that their male clerk put through on both our charge cards. Instead of a simple investigation into this matter resulting in a correction on their part, I am being ignored. This matter could be a scam and I may be forced into consulting authorities.

This is a stripped down version of a "resort". Rooms are very nice and it is quiet. The shuttle is unpredictable and you can wait an hour+ for it. Hotel services are nil and served with a snarl. Overall could be wonderful, but it isn't.

Front desk service was not friendly and inviting. For example, the fitness center has signs like complimentary headphones and when asked about them the front desk gave me an attitude and stated "we never offered that". Location is a 15 minute walk from the beach, but they do offer a shuttle every 30 minute and the drivers are friendly and even go out of the 10:45pm last pick up when there are still guest waiting to be shuttled back. Rooms are nice. Only thing that bothered me was the front desk — they also have a 4pm check in, but they will choose and pick which guest they will let in before 4pm. Other guest were able to check in at 1245pm and they had told my family 4pm. I brought it up to the front desk and they said that our room was not ready even though we checked in at 9am.

The hotel is fine, but the staff was bad for us. After mediocre service checking in, we then got the third degree upon returning after dinner from the front desk guy (some guy with longer gray hair. ) I've never been quizzed and insulted by staff like that. He asked our room number — we were staying in the 115 — and I mistakenly said 119. He cocked his eyebrow and gave me a sarcastic, "well, that's going to be tough, because there is no 119"… then spent the next five minutes being a total jerk. He made me describe where I thought my room was, which I did. He told us we were wrong, there we no rooms there (which ended up being exactly where our room was. ) Instead of offering to help like I asked — by looking up our room — he just basically dragged it out, cocking his eyebrow and making snide remarks. I'm showing him our key card, it's not like we were trying to sneak in? He then let us walk over to a locked door — when I tried to open it — I asked him why the door was locked. This was the way we'd gone to our room previously, I didn't know of another way. He said "because it's locked, that's why. " After letting us through, he said something like "good luck finding your room. " Thanks! What a complete joke. I would never, ever stay here again. I travel a ton for work, and I've never come across anything like that guy… I'd give zero stars if I could. Dropping 400 dollars on a hotel room and getting insulted by the staff — priceless.

Currently the jacuzzi is broken and they are remodeling the front. There was construction starting early every morning. The room was nice and clean but didn't have a closet.
There's a coffeemaker but coffee pods must be bought separately. I found this place through groupon, a great find for a very reasonable price on Catalina, $88 per night, $104 with initial fees and an additional $50 charge per night as hotel fee. $154 was still a good deal for Catalina. The staff was friendly but not very attentive at the front desk. The bistro was great! Great service, drinks, & food. The cocktails are very good and creative, a bacon maple Manhattan, coconut water "rehydration" martini, and unique herbal digestives to name a few. Overall, it was a nice experience, but a little disappointing about the maintenance and lack of what I see as standard hotel amenities.

Arrived at the island around 10, check in was at 4. Was called around 230 to let me know my room was ready. The woman up front was a little unfriendly, like we were a bother but I didnt think anything of it. She seemed busy. Get to my room, was nice, spacious, a cool ass lamp that turns on by ur body heat id assume. (You hold it and it gets brighter, let go and touch again it dims til it goes off completely). A welcome note was on the bed and informed us of the drought and asked if we're staying multiple days to have the maid not wash the linens everyday if that was okay. We only stayed one night so it didn't really apply to us. Had a thought, what if in order to conserve more water they didn't wash the linens after every guest anyway. Just brushed it off and continued to the island. Came back ready to relax is my big feather comforter and cozy bed. After a few mins I start to itch, finally got up to check to discover multiple bug bites. Showed my boyfriend and he had found multiple bites on his body as well. Pulled off the sheets and found all kinds of stains and multiple hairs that didn't belong to either of us. Checked closer and noticed tiny little flea like bugs jumping around. Besides the unsanitary bedding and unexpected bed guests the hotel was nice. Except the restaurant is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday (the days I stayed) and was more of an unappealing desert view with construction going on all around.

Awesome island but book hotels at least a month prior cause it's completely sold out on weekends… going there and planning stuff won't work need to do bookings previous to the trip… also last minute changes to the room or stay at this property will not be entertained… can't call the staff rude cause they are overbooked and cannot do anything about it… but small things like tea coffee when provided in the room. Also room service needs quick staff.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Very bad customer service. Very pricy for what you get. Boat gets there at 10am and check in every where is 4pm. Had to carry our stuff everywhere we went for 6 hours. No directions or information from anyone. However the restraunt was good and the room was decent.

We stayed here for two nights during Mother's Day weekend. +Very comfortable bed +Clean room (5th floor) : Modern touches to the room/bathroom + keurig/microwave/fridge +No hassles with front desk (booked through Priceline) +Good food at their restaurant (Seaport Bistro) : Big portions -Renovation of the grounds is incomplete (not a big deal tbh) They seem to be in the process of renovating the grounds of the property. They weren't doing construction during our stay. If you don't mind the 10-15 min walk from downtown (steep hill on the way up — we walked our luggage and stroller up the hill), this is a good choice. If you don't want the hike, they have a shuttle. We would definitely stay here again. I'm glad I booked this hotel despite some of the negative reviews.

Blood on blanket mold in shower trash under TV stand patio door lock chain broken lights on headboard loose can hear everything the people above is were doing birds inside the wall in our patio the beds were very hard. The front desk person was not friendly at all and seemed to hate his job. If you want to go relax and have a good time this place is not for you. A motel 6 would have been better. We will not be staying there again.

Wow! Lets start out with The guy that was at the front desk; less than friendly. Got to my room later around 7ish got into bed and the comforter had blood all over it. I know stuff happens. But geez I can't say that I like cuddling with a bloody blanket. Check photo.

Booked the kings Spa room but when I arrived, they gave me a different room because there was construction and there was no access to my room. When I saw the actual walk way to my room, all the construction was already completed. When I confronted the person at the front desk all he said sorry and gave my the room I had initially booked. Way to much of a hassle for a romantic getaway. Never staying here again.

It was awful, over the last five years there service has diminished. It used to have great service, helpful staff. Last year was the worst by far. We travel there every year for rugby, last year our plumbing was clogged. I am a woman 55 years old, the guy hands me a plunger and said the plumber would be in Monday, this was Thursday night! Wow I have two boys and a husband $724.64. I usually get kissed first.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was friendly and the hotel was only a 15 minute walk from all of the shops in the area. If you choose not to walk, there is a shuttle. The room and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. Our ceilings are insanely high. We have a cute balcony that overlooks the pool. The pool was too cold to go in, but they have a decent jacuzzi. The bed was soooo soft. I'd definitely come back here the next time I'm on the island.

A little removed from the center of town but close to the golf course and the botanical gardens. The rooms have been remodeled but they need a finishing touch.

Stayed here is August 2015. The room and view was nice. The bed… so comfortable it felt as though I was sleeping on clouds. It's located at the top of the hill but their is a van shuttle which takes you down. The walk isn't bad either (although I wouldn't do it in heels). I would come and stay here again. Not a bad exprience for me. Only thing is the resturant wasn't ever open but their are other resturants down the hill so that made up for it. Well reccomended.

I've been planning a wonderful weekend for my mom, who's always wanted to see Catalina Island for years. We booked 2 rooms at Catalina Canyon Resort. To our surprise, the rooms AND hotel property, looked nothing how it was presented online : — (terrible! Their going thru remodeling, which was not disclosed when we reserved our rooms. Not to mention how filthy, so dirty the rooms were, did we mention the cockroaches! Ugh! It was a terrible experience — and to top it off the hotel staff were NOT helpful or friendly. Hotel appears 1 step away from being closed down or condemned~ Lesson Learned!

The room was great. Great style. The shuttle driver was polite. But the customer service was not so good. The african American man was rude. It seem he didn't like his job and he was rude to his coworker too. If it wasnt for that I would rate 5 stars. It says the pool is heated and its not.

We stood in the King Spa rooms and it was way worth the price! The spa tub in the room was so relaxing and the King bed was very comfortable. One thing I didn't like was when we booked the room, it listed different amenities including "Plush Robes" (Which I booked directly on their own web page) and found no robes. Wasn't a big deal, but it was one of the reasons the spa room sounded well to us and the hotel didn't offer anything in place. Other than that, we'll be back.

I loved it here, newly remodeled rooms. Beautifully contemporary and homely. Wonderful staff. I worried when I read previous review but the management obviously listens and makes changes.

I'm shocked by the negative reviews — I was already having a hard time believing them when I got down to the complaint about the Eggs Benedict and the pancakes. My boyfriend ordered both — the eggs were cooked to perfection and he loved the Hollandaise. He couldn't wait to go back the next day to have them again, which he did. The pancakes were gorgeous. They weren't fluffy but they weren't hard either. They were dense in a good way. Substantial. Meanwhile, the room was gorgeous. I know it was an upgrade from the regular room, but I don't think it was the best room in the house either. And it was gorgeous — the king-size bed was extremely comfortable. I will admit it would have been nicer if the sheet and duvet were of a higher thread count, but I was thrilled with the down comforter and down pillows, since down is washable and so comfortable. The decor also was so attractive, we actually discussed the beautiful mirror and the wall hangings. We did have a complaint about the shower — one, there is nowhere to put the soap or anything else in the shower. We had to put everything on the floor — which worked out fine, since the shower is so large. It was just odd — they need to put in some kind of shelf or even hang a rack over the shower. Two, the shower isn't high enough for people who are tall. These are such minor issues, I wouldn't even have thought to mention them in a review.

Our visit was not good at all. We had to taxi, no shuttle available. Needs painting and cleaning. Sliding door did not lock. Cabinet doors would not stay shut. Scuff marks on walls. Deceiving photos shown on the internet. Ice machine broken. They brought my breakfast but forgot my wife's breakfast. After I complained several times they finally brought her food. Graffiti on elevator walls. Never again.

Thos is by far the worst 3 rooms brown stained sheets, bathrooms so dirty I would not use them, carpet so dirty I would not take off my shoes. The "Bar and grill" never opened. Not even going to get in to the state of the hot tub/ pool. The entire staff was indifferent to everything this place is a joke but the money they stole from my account was not. Thankfully the Vista Del Mar had a room avaliable great staff great room right in town check it out save your self.

We had ants so bad in our room that they were in the beds, suit case, bathroom, and hallway. The staff is indifferent to the problem. The food at their restaurant needs help too. The pancakes were hard on the bottom making it difficult to even cut. The hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was watery and flavorless. There is no room service or meal included for a $350 room. They do allow small pets with a $75.00 deposit which is non-refundable. We should have realized that we would run into problems when we kept trying to call them prior to making reservations and they never returned our calls. It is a very poorly run Motel! The men who shuttled us to and from down town were very nice and accommodating as well as the housekeeping staff. The front desk was very understaffed and appeared slightly disorganized. The over weight male who worked the front desk needs to find a different job. Hospitality is definitely not his calling. This could be a wonderful place to stay with a lot of work.

I went here with my family and stayed for three days. The key they gave never worked. We spent way to much time haggling with it. The room was old with marks on the wall mold in the shower and holes in the ceiling. I could of even been halfway okay with even this if not for the renovations taking place above us. We were not told nor was it notated that this would be going on. They started early around 8am and didn't end until 5pm. Then our neighbors in spent all day blasting music so that we could not even hear our-self think. We called up and was anything done no. Worst experience.
