Review of Super 8 by Wyndham Altoona 2*

I feel completely disrespected by the staff and disgusted by this place. The room smelled disgustingly like smoke. I called the front desk as soon as I got in to ask to be switched and they told me that since I had booked on a travel site and not on their site, that he couldn't switch my room (huh? did he make this up because he didn't want to push a few more buttons? Did they have no respect for people who book on Orbitz or Expedia? ). I offered to pay more if needed to switch to a different room (although in hindsight, I should not even have offered this). He still denied my request. Then I thought, perhaps he doesn't have any more rooms (trying to give the rude man the benefit of the doubt) but when I went on their website, I saw that they indeed had other rooms. Why wouldn't he just switch my room to keep a customer happy? Such a simple thing to do that wouldn't cost them a thing. Mind you, I'm not the type to complain and tried to make the best of the situation so I sucked it up and sat in a smoke filled room that made my head and chest hurt (dirty no less) for 20min. When I could no longer take it, I walked out with my stuff to the front desk to tell the front desk rep that I wanted a refund if he couldn't switch my room and he said he could not give me a refund because I had already spent too much time in the room (EVEN THOUGH I CALLED HIM AS SOON AS I ENTERED THE ROOM). Some people don't understand the value of a customer and good service. This is that place. Even when I told him my head and chest hurt, he had NO EMPATHY. I ended up leaving and driving ten minutes away to the Days Inn that even gave me complimentary soup for dinner. What a difference. Please be warned, avoid this place at all cost.
