My wife and I stay there often when we go to Altoona PA. Affordable prices clean rooms and friendly staff. Pet friendly and smoking rooms.

Good for money. Friendly staff. Vents let out a smoking smell.

It's a nice room, clean, good staff but when we checked in at 3AM, after 13 hours on the road, we asked for late check out but it wasn't approved by the manager. After 3AM, seems the perfect time to allow a little flexibility on check out.

I just spent the night. Very nice. One thing though, the room could use more electric outlets. Not enough to plug in phone's and stuff for charging.

I was distressed this weekend that this hotel which has previously given us good service, charged our credit cards 5 times for a total of over $1200, maxed out one credit card, and left my wife virtually stranded for a 3 night stay for 1 person and 2 dogs. The GM this morning cleared most of the mess up just now. But a reservation I understood to be $220 for three nights, is still over $300. She was courteous, but I feel a glitch of this magnatude should be comp'ed somehow. And if I say it should have been the original price that was quoted when I made the reservation, the GM should honor that. Its questionable whether we will stay there again the next time we visit family in the area.

I stayed here 1 night while working out of town. The room was very nice and comfortable. The price for a king size bed was more than fair! Lady at front desk even gave me a coupon for 10% off at Texas Roadhouse. They have a fitness center and pretty good breakfast. Best part was waking up the next morning and looking at the mountain ranges on each side of the hotel.

The entire rear end of this hotel smells like cigarettes. If you are in one of the rooms close to the smoking rooms, your sense of smell will be assaulted as soon as you open the door. (Edit) Shortly after my review, I had to check into the hotel for another two weeks, so I signed the paperwork which clearly listed my checkout date. I'm here for work, and went home for a couple of days. I left a bunch of my clothes in the dresser and some of my belongings on the table. Upon returning to the hotel, in the middle of my stay, I find that all my clothes are gone, my belongings have been removed from the table, and the person staying in the room with me knows nothing about it. I still had a ton of equipment for work in the room, which was untouched, but the staff felt the need to remove my clothes and other belongings from the room when our stay was only half over. The staff may be polite, but they apparently don't know how to respect boundaries or checkout dates.

Location was great right off the Highway. The room was good but I could smell the smoking rooms since the smoking rooms was so close to my non-smoking room. Service was really good. Very helpful and always smiling.

It's was somewhat run down and dingy. I also noticed a smokey smell. But the room looked clean and the price was good. The staff I met was very nice.

We patronize this hotel approximately once a year for holiday shopping. This is the first year we were not as satisfied with our stay. We could smell smoke throughout the hotel it permeated into our room. Also we could hear people next door talking late Into the Night due to the walls being very thin. This is the first time we have experienced this nuisance. They did add a waffle maker to the continental breakfast area which was a nice touch.

Rooms were clean kept and odorless. There was a nice little LED TV that has more than basic channels and includes HBO. There's also a recliner which was great after work since I stayed there for work. Included a continental breakfast which included cereal and Jimmy Dean breakfast biscuits which were good. All in all good stay. Although my coworker didn't have such great experience due to occupancy for king size beds and some weird electrical wiring that I guess uncle Jimmy must of done.

Paid $80.56 for room. Upon entry room was fine. A short while later it felt cold so turned on heat. Within seconds there was a stink that was awful. Got stronger in minutes. Shut it off. Opened window in order to stand it called manager. She came up and agreed how bad it was and by the it was 5 minutes of open window. She went down to call owner. After a while I could not stand the room so I went to lobby. Manager was busy but waiting to hear from owner. Finally she got a call. Owner stated that the smell was the heat and could do nothing about it. No we could not get another room as running the heat would stink all rooms. I told the manager that we wanted a new room and we would not run the heat, the other choice was to demand our money back and move motels (it was 10 PM by this point). Manager called owner back and agreed to let us get new room. I feel that the owner should have agreed to move us immediately. The manager should have been able to do this immediately. If the heat is not clean then it should be advertised not to use the heat.

While the rooms are ok, the rest of the hotel smells really bad. They really need to rip out all of the carpet, repaint, and makes it all non smoking. The previous guest in our non smoking room left their lighter and garbage under the bed skirt that wasnt cleaned up. I expect better from Wyndham.

This is a conveniently located hotel close to Altoona downtown. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and washrooms are clean. The downsides are noisy window airconditioners, smoking rooms next to non-smoking ones and no elevators that I could see. For the price I paid, it was adequate. Staff are friendly and courteous. However, they had an issue with their system and check-in took all of 30 minutes. Hopefully this was a one-off problem.

The hotel clerk was sitting outside smoking when we got there, and we got to the front desk before she did. She would not give us the AARP late check-out, unless we came down the next morning to request it, depending on if the room was booked, and "anyway", she says, "it would only be a half hour". Well, if check in isn't until 3 pm, then if we checked out 1 hour later than "before 11" (like the rules state), then there would still be time to do the room before the next people came. So, when we got to our room, it had a funny smell — not really bad stinky, just weird stinky. We planned to go get some air freshener to solve that. But then the TV didn't work ("no signal" error). I called down to the front desk, and the poor woman was breathing hard like she had just run a mile. She quickly told us to turn on the light switch by the door — that would turn the TV on. She then hung up before I could say that it was on, just getting no signal. I called her back — she was way out of breath again — and sounded panicked and said there was nothing she could do, she didn't know how to fix it — could we wait until the 2nd shift guy came? We had to leave to go to a double-header across the street at The Curve, and wouldn't be back until late. So she said she had ONE more room, on the 3rd floor. We jumped at it; even without an elevator it would have to be better than this one. Lugged our stuff up 3 flights, and the room's TV did work.

Hotel was decent, rooms were clean. Ac worked well. Plenty of towels in the rooms. The staff was nice, the breakfast was Continental… There aren't many outlets. The hotel smells like cigarettes, due to there being smoking and non smoking rooms on the same floor. If I would have known this before I booked I definitely wouldn't have booked it, due to my daughter having asthma. We couldn't smell the cigarettes in our room thankfully, but it smacked you in the face when you walk in and on the way to your room… Also didn't help that you have to walk threw people smoking when you walk into the door…

If your looking for a simple, clean place to stay this is it. No pool, No elevator just a simple old style affordable hotel to spend the night. The room and bathroom was clean. A quick simple breakfast was available. My only problem was the hallway stinks like cigarettes and our room had a slight odor also from cigarettes. I would definitely stay again as its nice not to have to spend 150 to 180 dollars to sleep for 6 to 8 hours in a hotel.

People claim that the smell of smoke is too much, and I could see that however it was obvious that they did the best they could to make it smell better. Overall good staff and service for a motel, cheap, decent rooms. Okay place to stay.

Beds were a little small, but the staff was super courteous and friendly. A/C unit wasn't working the first night, and when my partner informed the staff, they actually replaced the entire unit while we were working at the nearby Sci-Fi Valley Con. Total awesomeness!

Clean and comfortable. Quiet. Nice big tub/shower. No elevator, but the third floor walk up wasn't tough, three short flights of steps. Friendly young guy at the front desk and average s8 continental breakfast.

Location and room were good. Only drawback is there are smoking rooms. The smoke travels throughout the hotel. Rooms could use some updating as well but other than that good experience.

Very good location convenient to the baseball park and restaurants. Rooms were clean with good Wi-Fi. Basic continental breakfast. Overall very good value for the price.

They will charge you for a Room Safe, unless you tell them not to. Clean rooms in a newer building. I would stay here again. An irritant I had was their Wi-Fi security, it logs you out over short periods of inactivity, requiring you to re-login several times during your stay.

It's a very nice place to stay. Rooms are comfortable with normal sized bathrooms. Close to alot of restaurants and shopping areas. They have a free cold breakfast and 24hrs coffee.

This hotel is absolutely terrible. Rooms have horrible oder, and rooms are not cleaned well. The front desk work is unprofessional. When we check in they list it for us one price and we sign in the paper with this price, but when we check out they charged completely different price. Do not recomend this hotel to any one.

I am really weary of cheap hotel rooms. Inspected this room thoroughly before extending my stay for an entire week. This may be the cleanest room I've ever stayed in. Clean bath, clean bed and a new clean recliner. Fridge and microwave came in the room as well.

This place is absolutely terrible. First off, the staff was completely unprofessional. They were cursing, smelled and looked like they were still hung over from their night jobs at the strip club. When I arrived to my room there were stains all over the sheets, cigarette ashes all of the window sill (in my non-smoking room) and dust 2cms thick on everything. I felt so disgusted I went to Target down the street and bought new sheets just to sleep, and throw them away the next morning. I do not recommend this dump to anyone. I guess I got what I paid for. I was trying to save money by staying here, thinking I got a great deal…Oh how wrong I was. Save yourself from this trash and pay the extra $30 to stay at the Marriott.

I feel completely disrespected by the staff and disgusted by this place. The room smelled disgustingly like smoke. I called the front desk as soon as I got in to ask to be switched and they told me that since I had booked on a travel site and not on their site, that he couldn't switch my room (huh? did he make this up because he didn't want to push a few more buttons? Did they have no respect for people who book on Orbitz or Expedia? ). I offered to pay more if needed to switch to a different room (although in hindsight, I should not even have offered this). He still denied my request. Then I thought, perhaps he doesn't have any more rooms (trying to give the rude man the benefit of the doubt) but when I went on their website, I saw that they indeed had other rooms. Why wouldn't he just switch my room to keep a customer happy? Such a simple thing to do that wouldn't cost them a thing. Mind you, I'm not the type to complain and tried to make the best of the situation so I sucked it up and sat in a smoke filled room that made my head and chest hurt (dirty no less) for 20min. When I could no longer take it, I walked out with my stuff to the front desk to tell the front desk rep that I wanted a refund if he couldn't switch my room and he said he could not give me a refund because I had already spent too much time in the room (EVEN THOUGH I CALLED HIM AS SOON AS I ENTERED THE ROOM). Some people don't understand the value of a customer and good service. This is that place.

Disgusting, the hotel has a strange smell to it, both in the main area and room. Found a cockroach climbing out of my bag when I went to my meeting the next morning, more in my suitcase at home. Never again Super 8, worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

Very nice little place, I recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay and a comfortable bed to sleep in. My only complaint is the out of date TV, but I survived without a flat screen for a day, and I'm sure you will too.

I live in Harrisburg and I need to be out in Altoona for two weeks to obtain my Peer Specialist Certification. This place has everything that I need to not only stay out here, but be comfortable enough to take care of my homework and take the next step in my life. This is where I NEED to be: it's close to my destination It has a lot of space It has wireless internet It has coffee and free breakfast in the am It has cordial staff that smile and say hello It FEELS like HOME even though I am 2 and 1/2 hours away. Thank you.

Good price, Clean rooms, comfy beds. The staff is pretty helpful. Overall I would say this is a good motel for the price. I would definetly stay here again.

After staying at a nasty motel in Elizabethtown, I was pleased to stay at this Super 8, the prices are reasonable, the clerk was very nice, and the room looks a little old but is comfy, and the bathroom is very clean. All around very good, would stay here again.
