Highly recommend this hotel! Well worth more than what we paid. The staff was amazing and very friendly. It was very clean and breakfast was great.

The good: The front desk was friendly and welcoming. The lobby and rooms must have been recently updated as they look very modern. The room has all the standard amenities including a fridge and desk. However, the rooms are packed with furniture making it a bit difficult for more than 1 person to move around at a time. The beds were fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, our particular room seemed to hold alot of moisture that the air conditioner couldn't clear and the carpet felt damp. The breakfast area was also too small for the amount of people one would expect to be in that area during breakfast hours which made it difficult to move around. Sadly, the food was very disappointing. We expected something more grand given all the raving reviews about the breakfast. Stick to the waffles and cereal if you stay here. Ultimately, it was fine for 1 night. But, I don't expect that we will stay here again. The Hampton Inn is across the street.

The staff was really nice. The kids loved the salt water swimming pool. The breakfast could have been better. Rooms were clean.

This was a very nice hotel for the price range. The rooms were clean and updated. We stayed in a suite which worked well for my family of five. My only complaint is I wish the sheets had already been put on the sleeper sofa rather then us searching the room to try and find them, only to discover they weren't there and we needed to go to the office to get them. I also wish they had the luggage holders in the room so I didn't have to store my luggage on the floor. The staff here was exceptionally courteous and friendly. They went out of their way to help us and welcomed us to happy hour from 6-7 pm where they had free soda, beer, chicken wings and salad. These ladies were exceptional and my husband said he had never felt so welcomed at a hotel. They have rediscovered the all too often lost art of being gracious and friendly. I only wish more people understood how much people appreciate it!

The hotel was clean and the staff at the front desk were extremely nice. The cable broke twice once when we arrived, it came back on for a few hours and then went out again until we checked out. The shower did not drain properly and the only maintenance the hotel had on staff was ill so we had to shower in a tub full of water.

Will definitely return! Very impressed with the courtesy and friendliness of the staff. I think this was probably one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Dining area was very clean and breakfast was delicious.

I was in town for my father's funeral. This staff was amazing. They greeted me with cold bottled water and condolences under the circumstances. Anything they could do to help they did it. They literally searched for ways to help make life easier for me when I was burying my Dad. The service continued throughout the stay. Shayla gave me kind words on the way to the funeral and Kimberly was there when I returned to make sure I was ok. These were the same two that were there at check in. These two amazing ladies took care of me like I was family the whole time I was there. There was a small billing discrepancy once I left. Staff member Christy immediately got her general manager to call me back. Sabrina had the issue resolved within 30 minutes of my initial call and she wasn't even at work when I called. That let me know I was a priority to them. I can't give enough praise to this team. The facility was great. The elevator and hallway was a little dark and warm if I had to change anything. But other than that, awesome.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, especially the staff who prepared the breakfast. The hotel was suitable but the walls are super thin so you can hear everything being said and done in the room next to you. This is not a full service hotel from my experience so if you need something you have to go to the lobby to inquire about it. Rooms were decently clean.

There was a slight problem with my credit card being overcharged for my hotel stay, but when I brought to the attention of the hotel clerk upon check out it was fixed and refunded immediately. I waited 24hrs and checked my credit card transactions and it was all good. Good job, BW.

Staff was friendly & cheerful. Rooms were very clean, nice, and mattress protectors used. Sheets & towels also appeared very clean and fresh. Animal towel was a nice surprise. Hotel staff very accomaditng to unique time schedule of arrival and event. Was allowed to check in a little early (called ahead of time) but we received no slack for this and was treated wonderfully. Would highly recommend!

Christy at the check in desk was a total professional. A few large group walked in all at the same time. She was able to handle the situation and make everyone feel welcome. Also, the ladies handling the breakfast were great. They made sure they greeted all guests as they entered and made sure the food area was clean at all times. Our stay was 05/18-05/20.

When taken for what it is, a budget motel, the Microtel Inn is very good as motels go. Every time I've stayed here I've had no problems with my check in process, stay or check out. The rooms are fairly basic but still nice. All the rooms have a sitting/sleeping area by the window and a desk for setting up a laptop if need be. It's located right by the mall and right up the road from the new super Wal-mart and also close to ECSU.

This hotel was awesome. The staff were so nice and amazing. I had made the reservation. Last minute as we were there for my father that was passing away. After speaking with the front desk at check in we went to our room to shower and rest. 5 mins later we get a call and she tells us there was a little something at our door. My daughter was so excited to see a little bag with waters and treats. There was a very nice card placed in the bag offering some kind words. I was so impressed and it really touched me that they did that for us. It was a very rough day and this lady made it a little better for us.

Constomer service was excellent. Had a little problem with the door lock and the water was out for a few hours but everything else was great. Would recommend.

Helpful friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast in the morning has a really nice spread including made to order waffles, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal, fruit, and more. Five stars, would stay again.

Upon entrance of the property I was taken away by the upgrade that had been done and it was nicely decorated and smelled good. I was GUEST OF THE DAY which was a naive surprise and made me and my best friend smile from ear to ear and have bragging rights to my friends who stayed at The Hampton Inn the same night. Also when entering the room I was shocked at how much space there was and it was nicely decorated and I was a housekeeping supervisor for 7 years so I was waiting to find one thing wrong at some point during our stay AND NOT ONE THING WAS WRONG IN THAT SUITE! I will be recommending you guys to EVERYONE I know and I will be back soon!

We were in town for a funeral. We had a late flight into Hampton and had to drive from the airport. The roads were terrible due to the weather. What should have been a two hour drive from ending up taking four hours. We arrived about 4 in the morning. Donna was a light at the end of a stressful travel experience. She checked us in hassle free. She even had a snack bag for us. During the stay Shayla, Kimi and Donna made us feel like we were family. The customer service we received should be a training experience for all hotels. Upon returning back from the funeral, they provided a condolence bag as well. We were very pleased with the employees, the room, the breakfast, and the cleanliness of the facility. We want to express how grateful we are that our experience was stress less, hassle free and comforting in a time of grief. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling o Elizabeth City, NC.

The Elizabeth City Best Western Plus is entirely lovely. Every member of the staff was very kind, pleasant, and helpful. They expressed genuine care and friendliness. The hotel itself is quaint and very comfortable. The rooms are adequately spacious, and the beds were very comfortable, too. The housekeeping staff were great as well. My only very minor "complaint" (if one can even call it that) was that some parts of the hotel aren't as "modern" as other hotels I've visited, but I very quickly got over that and found the hotel warm and charming. The staff were excellent, and I felt safe & comfortable there. I'd love to stay here again the next time I'm in Elizabeth City. Five stars.

Drove with my brother down here so he could go to school in the Coast Guard. Called 3 places upon arrival and ended up choosing Best Western Plus. The 2nd shift staff was excellent with recommending local restaurants. Room was clean & worth the price. Stayed 2 nights and would definitely stay again!

Been here 3 days now. The room was very clean when I got here and has been kept clean the entire time. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager has told me me what was available to do and see while I have been here and told me about local places to eat. The desk clerks are also very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in Elizabeth City. If I am ever back this way I will stay here again.

When you are going to the Outer Banks, this is the BEST PLACE to stay. Free waffles and bacon for breakfast, a small pool for the afternoon, and plenty of places to eat for dinner. The only problem was the air near the swimming pool smelled weird because of a vent, but I digress. This is a terrific place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Nice hotel with modern clean common spaces. Room was nicely updated and bed was super comfortable. Great breakfast too… eggs, sausage and waffles…

Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. This hotel met our needs for a long weekend stay to the area. Our room was comfortable and clean. Elizabeth City served as the home base for our trips to the Outer Banks. Tbe breakfast buffet can get busy but was well supplied.

Day staff was polite and nice. The night staff left a bit to be desired. The rooms were fairly clean but quite used. Things looked kind of work out. During our stay the toilet was clogged and the sink broke. They fixed both issues quickly though so that was nice. The free breakfast was very nice and fresh. However the Happy hour that was advertised never actually happened so don't count on that. I think it's a bit overpriced for what you get but overall it was not a terrible stay. I would have been happy if it was about $79 a night but expected a bit better for $120 a night.

The motel when we walked in looked good. The front desk and the lounge was decent. It looked welcoming when I came in. The manager and the front desk co-workers were very nice. When we went to the room and open the door it had a awful smell like mildew or musty scent. I sat in the room for awhile and my head started hurt right away. I went back to front desk and told them about the smell that was horrific and the manager stated to me that bcuz of the summertime the rooms throws off the scent that makes it smell like that. I asked for another room that didn't have this scent and I was told there wasn't any other room available. I called best western cooperate and we were accommodate with another room that was much better. No one should have to suffer with a room that has a bad order.

New, clean hotel with a nice breakfast and outdoor pool. A great place to stay if you are passing through on your way to or from the outer Banks or enjoying a few days in Elizabeth city. Hotel is a few blocks from the waterfront area and 30 minutes local attractions like diggers dungeon. Breakfast included eggs, bacon, sausage and make your own waffles along with an assortment of breads, pastries, cold & hot cereals, juices, and fruit. Room rate was reasonable especially if you have an AAA membership.

The room was nice but it had a funky smell. The clerk at the front desk was so nice.

For a best western this is a 2 out of 10. Thin walls and ceilings. Can hear everything from the other rooms. Staff cannot control guest noise. Rooms have a strong musky smell. Well not stay here again and don't recommend it to anyone.

Nice and sufficient. There was nothing super over the top about this hotel however, it was clean, comfortable and affordable. My wife and I stayed here in April 2014 and had no big issues and thought the rooms were pretty comfy/cozy.

We stopped here yesterday at random after a fairly long drive down from LI to our home in Myrtle Beach. The check in process was a bit slow as the clerk was very methodical but we were given a room on the third floor. The one switch motorized bathroom vent was extremely loud and I actually used my cell phone light app to guide me during my nighttime bathroom trips to avoid waking my wife. The Wi-Fi connection was barely functional at best. The biggest surprise took place in the morning when I got ready to shower and found that there was no shower curtain! After I complained at checkout they took a big $5 off our room rate. The breakfast was OK and the staff was generally friendly but we will be bypassing this place on future trips through the area.

Nice hotel but Wi-Fi is terrible, they should really get it fixed because it is irritating having hotels with terrible Wi-Fi.

Stayed here 11/21/15. Rate only marginally better than other hotels nearby of higher quality. One rate showed up when booking online, but when getting ready to finalize the booking we discovered the rate had jumped nearly $30. No clear explanation from staff as to why when we called the hotel to discuss. Decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway. We arrived tired after a daylong cycling event and check-in was fine, the young lady up front was quiet but respectful. What happened after that is what made it so that we will have to really think twice as to whether we'd stay here again. We stayed on the 2nd floor and were facing parking lot behind the hotel where tractor trailers park. No problem there. The problems began when no less than 7 cars filled with teenagers pulled up and were yelling and carrying on right beside the hotel on the sidewalk. Over the next few hours, they kept coming and going, sometimes going behind the trucks in groups doing who knows what. We had parked by the trucks so that we could see our vehicle from the window, but I felt it was unsafe and moved it to the front of the hotel. When I got out of the car to come back inside, a large group of the same teenagers had now moved to the front of the hotel and were lingering by the entrance. Upon entering the hotel and reaching the elevator, another large group spilled out of the elevator, some appearing intoxicated, mistook me for a police officer and quickly left the building.

We had a great experience in May. The room was clean and had everything we needed.

If you like the staff accusing you of smoking in your room, reported by "another guest" and unidentified, so they can charge you an additional $250, THIS is the place for you.

Best Western Plus in Elizabeth city was the best hotel I have ever stayed in! Brite was the receptionist when we checked in and she was so nice and friendly. Our room was really nice and clean. I couldn't find anything bad to say about the room. The bathrooms have marble counters and under mount sinks. The desk in the room had the stone surface and the chair was super comfy. The beds? Were sooo comfy too! The pillows were like clouds! Plenty of space in the room. It didn't feel crowded at all. Also with your stay you get free hot breakfast that includes a waffle station to make fresh waffles, muffins, toast, danishes, eggs, sausage, cereals, oatmeal, yogurts and free coffee 24/7 in the lobby hot and ready to go! The breakfast I enjoyed because I didnt have to spend extra money on breakfast for my husband, my 4kids, and myself! And it tasted good too! If I ever am in the area again (I live in Ga and was in NC to attend my grandfather's funeral in Edenton) I will definitely stay there again. I chose this hotel because the price was great and I am so glad I did. I started to choose a hotel actually in edenton but I'm glad I didn't. Best Western Plus in Elizabeth city deseves 5 stars for everything from the staff to the room! Thanks.

Best western is a family hotel where you go have fun at and the worker are nice and funny so stay with people who care and I like the animal that they make in rooms.

I don't normally write reviews, but honestly I do read them. I didn't have a lot of choices when I needed a hotel and this one was available. We needed the room at the last minute and we arrived at 11 pm the night of the booking from my phone. The person who wrote a review a week ago that had a horrible experience really worried me, but our experience was just the opposite. The hotel looked like it was in the middle of a transformation, but there was no construction sounds or objects in sight. The lobby and rooms have all been recently redone and our room was fantastic. Clean, airy and modern. The service late at night was super friendly. The morning breakfast was delicious — hot eggs, bacon, sausage and yogurt/Gogurt (and more like muffins and such). They had two waffle makers — One for large waffles and one that made four small waffles which was great for my kids. Probably the first hotel with such a waffle maker — a small thing that made my kids' morning. We left a little late and was not rushed at any point. The cleaning staff stayed out of our way. I'd highly recommend staying at this hotel and I'd do it again myself.

After spending one night and continuning on our vaction, I contracted legionella pneumonia and got extremely ill requiring hospitalization for 10 days. This is where I contracted the airborne bacteria as confirmed by Fultion County Health Department. Although the appearance was pleasant and the staff was great, air filter maintence and quality is a problem.

This hotel is fairly nice for a budget motel. The rooms were clean and decent but they need to pay more attention to the details. Cleaning in the corners, behind doors and also there was paint and stuff on light switch covers and cove base. My biggest complaint is the manager Nicole. She was aggressive and rude implying that I lied and was trying to get a cheaper price when all I was doing was trying to get the price I was quoted when I reserved our rooms. I did not appreciate her condescending attitude. She kept telling me that I was wrong, I was "mistaken" and that I "misunderstood". At one point she even said that was the best she could do and I better not try to get a lower rate. I told her that I was only trying to get the price I was quoted. However, to be fair, Nicole did call me back a few days later and say that she had a computer person find the prices that I was originally quoted and she gave me the rooms for the original quoted price. So I do appreciate that. But she should have never spoke to me the way she did before then. What would Anthony Melchiorri from Hotel Impossible say about her customer service?

We got to the room around 8 pm and went to bed comfortably around 10. At 12:30 am. We were awoke by the fire alarm and the hotel had an electrical fire. We had to grab our daughter from the bed in the middle of the night, rush down stairs disoriented, and wait outside for over 20 minutes, and they didn't even take anything off my room. No pool either. Wireless internet worked near the elevator but not much further.
