Room was ok. What I didn't like at all was the fact that they harrased us to leave because we were running late. Called us and knocked on our door multiple times. We stayed at other red roofs and have never had this problem. We have a six month old baby and need it some extra time. This is the first hotel that we've ever had this problem with. Not happy.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. It looks like an updated Red Roof Inn with pergo floors, etc. But it pretty much is a dump at the same time. On the plus side, it was very clean, everything worked fine; AC, fridge, TV, microwave. The hotel was quiet. The employees friendly. (They let us check in early, no complaints. ) But now for the issues: the first room we checked into we had to move out of. Someone definitely smoked in that room. The next room was better. Even with the AC on, everything felt "wet" overnights. The ceiling in the bathroom was badly stained, some of the paint was peeling. The couch cushion has a nasty tear in it and the blanket on the bed had a couple of holes. Would I stay here again? I doubt it. Although the price with tax for the Superior King room on a Saturday was only $90. If you're looking for price only, I don't think you can beat that. The area wasn't so great either. Definitely more than one star, but I would consider 3 stars average and this place wasn't average at all.

Friendly staff. Decent size rooms. Just an older building and area it's located in isn't the best when outside the hotel. Though it was perfect for the location I had to travel to.

Awesome hotel, really inexpensive and very clean. Love how spacious the rooms are here. I would say, if. You ate in the area this is a good hotel to save money on and sleep in.

I would recommend the Red Roof Inn in the University area in Charlotte NC to my family and friends. I was very satisfied when I stayed here for a week visiting. They have early morning breakfast for the guests, the rooms and bathrooms were always cleaned. They had a Pool area, Gym, Cable Tv, and access to other restaurants in walking distance too, etc. I will definitely stay here again.

Wifi keeps disconnecting. No laundry waited 2 and a half hours for shuttle that said would be 45 min ended up just walking. Not impressed but shower was nice and bed comfortable. And had slight language barrier with desk… friendly but hard to communicate.

"It's ok" is accurate. Lobby was nice for this motel atmosphere, and not expecting big brand hotel amenities. The rest of the common areas we're dirty though, notably the halls, which looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. Comfortable beds, but firm. Would rather firmness an 8 on a 10 point scale. Bathroom is a bit cramped but serves it's purpose. Considering cost to stay here versus other options, would probably stay again.

First let me say this hotel does NOT have mini refrigerators, clocks and worst of all phone! Desk lady was very nice. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast area was unmanned and dirty when I when to eat. They just changed hands so hopefully it will all get better after their remodel is finished!

Decent place to sleep. Mostly clean, gave me the Wi-Fi without having to ask. Good beds to sleep in and I don't hear the people in the rooms around me. Saw the room where they wash the clothes every day. No problems with the TV and coffee pot.

Good prices, pet friendly, and an easy trip to the NoDa stretch. Some rooms are better than others, we had to ask to switch rooms and they obliged. Our second room was a lot cleaner and nicer.

NEVER EVER AGAIN! One night, and that's it! Hotel is filthy, the whole place smells like stale smoke. People hanging out in lawn chairs by the side entrance door, and the toilet backed up twice! Maintenance fixed it the first time, but after my four year old went to the bathroom and it happened again, the desk clerk gave my husband a plunger because maintenance wasn't there! Wi-Fi didn't work, neither did the desk lamp and the refrigerator had about a year's worth of defrosting that needed to be done. Quickly checked out the next morning and cancelled the rest of my reservation. That's when the desk clerk informed me that the toilet needed to be snaked out, and maintenance probably never did it. REALLY? That place is a dive for hoodrats and prostitutes, as I was checking out, who was coming in? You guessed it, the police, and he told my husband to get his family the hell out of there! They break into cars and everything else out there! Red Roof's Corporate office will be hearing from me!

Andrew the guy at the front desk was amazing! This gentleman bent over backwards to help us in any way he could. It was quiet and the room was clean. It is not in the best neighborhood but we had absolutely no problems what so ever. If you are looking for luxury then this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a place to stay and you're on a budget like we were then this is a great place. There were no bus or train stops so uber is the mode of transportation you will need to use if you aren't able to drive. Thanks again Andre for the wonderful service!

Had a great stay at this Red Roof Inn. Read a few reviews online, before booking a room. Upon arrival, I was a little skeptical and asked to take a quick tour of the rooms, before checking in, just to make sure and see for myself… ""Surprisingly""… The rooms were all clean and well maintained. All modern style rooms, with flat screen TV's, mini fridge and a microwave. (Saw 4 different Rooms) Nice :) Thought it was too good to be true… All this. Including a couch with a pullout bed, Free Wi-Fi and a nice desk, which made it easy to get some work done… Has a pool and workout room, too… Didn't use them, but nice to know it was there if I wanted to… and breakfast was pretty cool. The staff was very courteous and seemingly went out of their way to make sure my stay was a very pleasant one. I don't know if they have new management, or what, but I couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with this place.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and fresh with everything you needed. I slept like a Baby in the King Sized bed. The continental breakfast was on time and fresh each morning. I would stay there again.

The check in desk was unattended for an extended period of time. When the man finally came he was wearing gym shorts and a hoodie. At that point I knew what I was in for. The room and bathroom were dirty. The beds need to be returned to whatever dumpster they were taken from. The most disturbing thing was the live electrical wires exposed between the mattress and the wall. This could electrocute someone in their sleep or catch the place on fire. See photo. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Good clean rooms with very friendly staff. Will definitely use this for any future visits.

Pros: Beds and sheets were comfortable, shower was hot, and the wooden floors are nice. Really nice restaurant next door (Chicken Box). Cons: Keys lost their ability to unlock doors 3 times in one night, and had to be reprogrammed each time. The front door broke during the night, preventing anyone from opening it, leaving only the back door, which required those keys that were losing programming. There was also a side door with a key swipe, except that key swipe didn't work at all, making it an exit only door. The shower is short. The door to our room is slightly ajar, meaning that you can more easily hear/smell the hallway, and the door didn't close all the way without pulling it closed (meaning you have to double check to make sure that you didn't leave your door unlocked). The elevator was down for part of the night, which wasn't a problem for us on the bottom floor, but others were an issue. The waffle iron for the breakfast wasnt cooking the waffles through. Basically, a lot of failure relative to common expectations for a hotel in this price range.

I would prefer to rate this hotel a 2.5, but it won't let me. I rounded up because the bathroom was clean and the pillows were great for me. It was also close to the stadium for our trip. However, I didn't like having to slam the room door to close it, and even then it didn't seem securely closed. We used the deadbolt while we were inside. Overall, the hotel was decent for the one night, but I don't think I'll stay there again.

I liked it. Large clean rooms, very nice staff, breakfast was OK, nice pool outside although I didn't go in it. I asked for early check-in and they accommodated me right away.

I had visited back on 8/10 ended up slipping on water that was leaking from the A. C. I reported to the front desk they just said oh okay. I asked if something could be done about it. I was told that she couldn't do nothing she would have to wait for the manager. I then called to make a formal Complaint. I was mailed a letter and told they would look into it. I even emailed pics. And nothing. Its been almost 2 month's and nothing. Dont think I will be recommending this to anyone needs better customer service.

I thought my rig was going to get broke into. It was being cased and I chased them off. The night attendant was very cool and kind to let me pull the 26' straight truck with a car trailer up to the side by the front door and he kept an eye on it. So that was nice. The place wasn't very clean either. We couldn't wait to get out of there.

Nice room, the bed comfy, loved the pool, didn't like only getting 2 Towels though. Place was clean and friendly staff.

The rooms were very nice and they staff was friendly. The only complaint I would have is that they breakfast provided was not that great. The waffle iron would not cook the waffles completely and that wad the only hot option besides cold cereal…

Take care to inventory *every* item in your room against the manager's threatening sign on every desk. This property does NOT have comforters, for example. Other items are simply missing. Traveler beware.

Reasonable rate, rooms were clearly well used but seemed clean and comfortable. Andre at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.

Run from this place fast! Bathrooms are awful. The phone was nasty!. Pictures on line are not what it looks like! Had to cancel and go somewhere else. Staff very rude and nonchalant! If you need extra towels you have to go to the front desk to get them.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice large shower. One end of the building had a strange smell. The refrigerator in the room barely worked. The coffee was weak, but the rest of breakfast was good.

It's an OK place if you're going to be in an out of nothing better is available. I wouldn't like to stay there for over one night. Does have pool and a gym, the rooms are big but the furniture looks like it's a hundred 100 years old and the general smell in the hallways and inside the room seems a little moldy. The room smelled like it was just sprayed with insecticide. Breakfast had all carbs and not a single protein. It's not a terrible place but not close as good as beat western or la Quinta. Good place for last minute lodging but definitely needs lors of improvements.

Value for money — not a super fancy place. The rooms have laminate floor instead of carpet. Feels clean good to the feet. A good restaurant nearby with access to major highways.

Cozy little place with clean rooms and friendly folks at the desk. The rooms were pretty spacious, which was a pleasant surprise. Free breakfast was pretty neat with the make-your-own waffles, too.

The rooms were nice. I always stay at red roofs and usually I'm happy with the quality to price ratio but the staff is incredibly rude. They immediately get defensive over just a simple question. I definitely won't be back. My friends and I are road tripping from Ohio to Miami and if the red roof inns in this franchise all hire these kind of employees I'll be staying somewhere else until I get back up north.

Loved the property for the price. I felt the shower should be updated as well as the TV package. Wi-Fi was good and the bed was a little soft for my taste, but the room did the trick.

The only good thing about my experience here was that they let me check in a few hours early. The day manager was very rude and hostile, and did not make me feel welcomed. She gave my husband and I the impression that she did not want to deal with us. The rooms were alright, besides the fact that we persistantly asked for items that should have already been in our room and was ignored. The miscommunication most likely stemmed from the fact that no one spoke English and the one that did couldn't understand us. I would not recommend this to anyone.

As helpful as the staff was when we complained, it still was a disaster. We rented two rooms; one for me and the wife, the second for our 20 year old son. The rooms have wood floors that feel dirty no matter if swepted. Our refrigerator was leaking water because you have to really check it to make sure it latches. The bathroom in my son's room was full of mold and mildew and he killed several bugs in the tub. In our room the sheets had long hairs on them. The bathroom light fixture looked like it was about fall off and the roof in there looked to have water damage. Our shower was clean for the most part. The shower head was dirty and filled with hard water deposits. I went to flush the toilet and the handle came off in my hand. I was able to place it back on and get the toilet flushed. The continental breakfast was schedule from 6-10 AM but it seemed that every time the hotel would be out of breakfast by 8. It was mediocre at best. Some bagels, make your own waffles, froot loops, the coffee was empty. On of the driveways at the entrance had a big and deep pothole. It was hard to miss with my car. So we stayed Friday night and left early (about 9 or 10 AM) to do stuff in Charlotte. We returned at about 5 or 6 PM and the rooms still HADN'T been cleaned. It was very uncomfortable to watch and wait for our room to be done. The staff was very helpful and fixed everything they could but they did seem a bit overwhelmed.

Horrible. First, any hotel off of SUGAR CREEK is a bad place — stay clear. If I had known it was off of sugar creek I would have never booked it. The area is shady and known for prostitution. I felt unsafe driving into the parking lot, but I figured I'd still give it a chance. I went to my room and it looked run down. The bed had hairs on the sheets, and the bathroom… OMG… the bathroom tub looked like it had not been scrubbed in a year. It was disgusting. I left and went to another hotel; I paid about $30 more but it was worth the piece of mind If you can help it, do not stay here.

I've tried calling 3 times and the lady answering the phone keeps hanging up on me. So my boss calls she then hangs up on him. So we both call at the same time she puts me on hold I can hear her talk to. My Boss after she hangs up on him she said to someone it was "some useless idiot" she picks up the phone asks how she can help me and I said two words before she goes "sorry you can hear me but I can't hear you" and hangs up even though she was all ready responding to what I said before.

Room was outdated, but in a nice nostalgic way. The night man, Andre I think his name was, was a little intimidating at first but super friendly and very helpful. I stayed for 2 nights with my girlfriend and our pit bull, and we had no problems at all.

This visit was the worst visit I had since dealing with Redroof. It was very unprofessional. I have dealt with Redroof for years and for $70 I would rather pay more to stay a night at this dump. The rooms are dated and nasty looking, the overnight Person at the desk, tall older bald black man was rude, unprofessional and provided no good customer service. I visited Albany, GA and great service. I visited NJ and great service from Redroof. I am very dissatisfied.

I booked this hotel for a night so two family members and I could enjoy a two-day mini-vacation in Charlotte. We have enjoyed a few of these trips and enjoyed our stays at the price-comparable "Econolodge" and "Extended Stay", but I have to say that this Redrock had been the worst of the three. There wasn't anything single-handedly that made it a bad experience, butt it was the sum total of numerous small but notable things that added up to a subpar experience. The first sign was when we checked in the desk clerk was difficult to understand and clearly didn't understand what I was saying completely. As we walked down the hallway although we were in a non-smoking room, I could smell the heavy scent of smoke throughout the hallway. I have to say that room was fully stocked and the beds nicely made comma and the LCD TV was a nice touch. The first town side of the room was that although the decor was pleasant, the plaster on the walls was poorly done, do that you could still see where the marks of the tools of their construction were wiped along them. The next thing is that on some of the walls you could see hand prints in the dust that was on them. When I went to use the restroom, I noticed the toilet was pulled a little bit away from the wall and when I wash my hands I noticed that the stopper for the sink was pulled completely out and left by the sink handles and looked disgusting.

Stay here twice a week and never have any problems. Clean and friendly staff.

Disgusting. Sheets hadn't been changed. Visible black hair on the one pillow and sheets. Dents in walls and damaged furnishings and lamp shades. Massive black hair in the sink. Bathroom was gross. Floors were sticky. "Gym" thick with dust and a swampy water tank. Mattresses that literally sagged when looking at them from. The side (they looked like fold out sofa mats). Unsanitary breakfast area and 3 different arrests took place across the street in a one night stay. Bad, bad neighborhood right behind the building.

Arrived in at the motel and decided to eat at a nearby restaurant (Texas Ranch Steakhouse) before checking in. Walked in to sit down with my wife and daughter and 3 completely plastered drunks were staring at my wife and daughter, like they had never seen a female before and yelling “whoop, there it is”! We sat down and ordered something to drink while listening to these guys using the “F” word like it was going out of style. One waitress told them to quiet down, because there were other customers and children inside and another waitress approached us to ask what we were even doing in this area of town. We told her we were staying at the Red Roof Inn. She said we should leave the area, because we probably wouldn’t have any tires on our vehicle in the morning and said the darker it gets, the worse the prostitutes get. She said you can look at those guys at the bar and tell what type people are in this area. We paid the bill for our drinks and began to leave, when the guys at the bar started yelling and taking their shirts off? We called the Red Roof Inn to cancel the reservation, but they said it was too late to cancel and were going to charge us anyway. I may get stuck with the bill, but it is cheaper than having to replace a whole set of tires and possibly getting me and my family killed. Do not go to this motel and do not even go to this area of Charlotte. 4 miles in either direction will be fine, but do not stop here!

My mother and grandmother both staged there. They say the beds are nasty. The walls are sticky. Just a bad experience. Don't even get me started on that god forsaken bathroom. The bathroom was the worst.

RUN DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS GETTO MOTEL! 1 Filthy, dirty rooms and a rude owner who glared at you when you walked by her. There was something that had been thrown on the wall and had run down. We stayed in what was called a renovated room and was charged more. Big joke! getto. Getto. Getto. The owner came into my room spraying some air spray without asking. I have asthma. And then she walks past me to sweep the fake floor in our room and says to me" Mam Move!. If I wasn't a classy lady I would of knocked her into the next century. When I told her no. She laughed and walked out of the room — Slum bucket motel!

If you like a clean room — DON'T STAY HERE! Our room was a renovated room so we paid more for — mold on ceiling in bathroom, lipstick, dust, and pubic hair on blow dryer, so called hardwood floors (vinyl) were so grimy like they hadn't been washed in months, air conditioner smelled like urine when running, sticky drawer handles. Also, had to answer the phone for call from front desk… phone was disgusting. Wasn't sure if our sheets were clean or not. Woman at front desk was very rude and condescending. Gentleman in evening was nice. Tried to check out early, but it was to late for that day… so we got another room. This room at first looked better. Once we were there, dirt in crevice between wall and carpet around bathroom — get the vacuum hose out, had a hole around outlet in bathroom. The toilets in both rooms sounded like they were going to die. Needless to say, I made sure girls didn't touch anything more than necessary. Didn't sit on furniture for fear of what was on it. Never again!

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Room 118 smells terrible. The carpet floor and couch is dirty. A duct tape was placed on the executive chair. The freaking pillow cases were dingy and were not crisp. There was a hole in the wall and it is where roaches crawl out. I had to clean with my own products and my towels were extremely dirty. Sometimes when I would come back to the room, the air-condition would not run. I had to unplug and replug it in order for it to work again. I did not sleep under the bed sheets and did not lay my head on the pillows. I slept under my personal blanket and laid my head on the bed. Now, I am sick. The air quality in the room was dry. Dust was on top of the bed board and on the lamps above. The number display on the telephone was dirty; I made it clean. I asked to view another hotel room. The room was on the second floor with double beds. I opened the door and walked right back out. That room smelled worse. The hallway smells awful! I was embarrassed to let my friends visit me during my birthday week. This was my vacation and birthday week! It sure did not feel like I was on vacation and celebrating my birthday. Of all the Red Roof Inn hotel I have been, this is the worst EVER! I will NEVER come back here again! SHAME ON YOU!

DO NOT STAY HERE! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & TRIFLING STAFF! Me and my best friend stayed with our children. The hallway smelled like musty feet and cigarettes, the "renovated" room which I paid more for had exposed bathroom vanity fixtures, and when I complained about the condition of the room — they stated because it had hardwood floors it was renovated. To make matters worse, I'm watching the housekeeper walk down the hallway squenching and spraying air freshener, WTH! Then, when I asked for additional towels for my children, the front desk staff had the nerve to challenge me about the number of towels I needed! Upon check out, I was given the manager's name who never returned my call. After two days of dodging my calls, I was told "they couldn't do nothing about it" and I would have to handle it with corporate. Hell hath no fury like a scorned customer. This will be the first of many scathing reviews on any travel or business site the gives me a field to type.

Husband got riddled with bed bug bites. On top of that there was mold on the sheets, the room across the hall was soaked and they was drying it with box fans. The whole floor smelled like mildew.

Horrible. Rooms smells, the beds are small sits low and have a dip in the middle. My first night I woke up with horrible back pain, the breakfast sucks, served spoil milk, room service only allowed clean towels to be delivered in the afternoon, so after I checked in and bathe, there were no clean towels for me to bathe with in the morning. There's absolutely no water in the outdoor pool, just horrible. I recommend anyone staying for vacation do not book here.

Horrible hotel. Hookers and druggies. Hall smelled like pot. Rude staff. Will never stay here again. Wiring in room can't be to code. Broken down cars in parking lot. Will make me think twice about booking another Red Roof stay anywhere.

I was saddened at the site of the building, the upkeep is delapatated and soon found the rooms to be just as bad. I went to shower and found the bath tub not cleaned, filled with the previous occupants residue, so I went to get the housekeeper and she smiled and gave me the spray bottle. Contenental breakfast was shabby, so I had a waffle and left. The attendant at the front desks attitude was unprofessional and rude. Unfortunate for me I only stayed one night, and I will NEVER stay at another red roof inn, my experience was enough for me to last a life time, however I did not reserve this room, it was reserved for me for one night. I did this review because I do not like when places like this dont care enough for their paying patrons. warning stay at your own risk.

Definitely needs some TLC. The room seemed dirty and smelled smoky, even though it was a non smoking room. When we complained they sprayed over the smell with an obnoxious air freshener. I don't think I would stay again.

The room was clean and affordable. A couple of the lights in the room didn't work but it was a good experince.

I didn't had any issues but don't forget that if you want the best service you better go to a more expensive place.

I am here with a company for a job and this is the crappiest place I have ever stayed in. I was here 3 nights. I had to go to the desk 3 times to get the key redone and still didn't work so they put me in another room. No clean towels to shower, they didn't clean the room. I went to have the breakfast they had cereal but no milk for it. When you log on to the internet it is so slow it takes 10 min to pull anything up or you are kicked off it all the time. You have to go outside to pick up signal on your cell phone cause of the building so you know my phone has 4G so its not the phone. This is a DUMP do not stay here.

Worst Hotel I have ever stayed. 2 towels a week. Bath tubs are dirty, floors dusty, lighting is dim, prostuites, noisy guests, micro waves wobbly inside, AC is completely governed, but worst of all Mr. Patel and most of his staff seem uninterested in getting you comfortable the first 3 times you ask but I tried 7 times just to be sure! You better off @ Motel 8 oh look there's one next door.

This place is totally disgusting. I'm here for training and this is where they have us at. I ask the front desk to clean mold out my refrigerator she said they will clean it with a dirty towel. Then came back to the room to inspect it the following day during lunch to find that they washed sheets with blood on them and decided it was okay to put that on my bed that I was going to sleep on. I went to the front desk to advise management he came to the room and said he will get it fixed he called an owner I believe they came to my room and then had the nerve to tell me that that was not blood. I asked him how did he know it wasnt I got a blank face. If you can go somewhere else do so just not the Super 8 in front of this Red Roof they found bed bugs in it 3 times this month has been inspected.

It's an old building but very good for its price. We got it for $39 a night. They even had breakfast, which is a plus. Not every Red Roof Inn provides breakfast. They had bananas, apples, waffles, muffins, apple and orange juice. The front desk person was very nice. They even have an indoor gym and outdoor swimming pool. Only issue I had was that the smoking and non-smoking rooms were in the same hallway. They should really separate it. The hallway still smells like smoke. In terms of the room, we had a couch in ours and that was a plus. The shower tub was HUGE because it was the jacuzzi type tubs and the jacuzzi jets still work! A lot of other Red Roof Inns, their shower tubs are really small. Some corners of the carpets weren't properly installed and you see some water stains on the walls. You do get what you paid for but in terms of what you get for what you pay for, it's definitely worth staying here again. I would recommend this place. Pets are allowed.
