The staff are very friendly and accomodating! They suggested the best local spots for our family. Amanda M. Was the sweetest; our luggage was lost at airport and she sent me an email when it arrived! Beds are comfy, area is nice and safe and the staff is 5 stars! My 3rd trip to NYC and I will stay here again!

This place is in a great location. Expect to walk up stairs but rooms were perfect for me and I was in level 4. Thanks Sohotel staff for looking after me. Also, call out to the restaurant/bar front of house woman. You are what brings charm to NY.

Beautiful hotel artsy modern furniture they give high quality shampoo and conditioner definetely would go again and its right in the middle on china town.

Had five nights booked here, a medical emergency prevented us from arriving until the third night at which point we were told the rest of our reservation had been cancelled. When trying to book a room all they had left was the most expensive room in the hotel and were not willing to make any amends for the misunderstanding, demanding full rate for the room. It turns out we did receive a credit for the unused nights, which was a relief, but the staff’s unwillingness to make a stressful situation better was surprising given the circumstances.

Excellent value and charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is because the room temperature is difficult to regulate due to radiators. Although that is part of the charm… If this survey would let me go back I would change it to 5 stars.

Great price on a large room with 3 beds for a girls weekend. Convenient location. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Only complaint was a cockroach in the room — but besides that we had a blast!

Nice and close to the subway. Smells amazing. Only thing is no microwave.

If you like sleep make sure to get a room on a high floor and not facing the street. Stayed in a first floor room and had to endure the street noise and bass from club or bar music blaring until at least 3 in the morning. Ear plugs will not help. Hotel should either warn guests about this, discount these rooms heavily, or not put them in these rooms.

Good location.

Pros: Hotel has gorgeous decor. Staff was amazing. Room was clean, and huge. Love the location to downtown city nightlife. (Bowery ballroom within walking distance) Neg: bar downstairs can b heard in room and they washed out something in the street for 2 hrs at 4am. Not sure if that noise is part of the hotel or another business. Due to this it was very hard to sleep. I feel like soundproof materials need to be installed so guests can sleep even if the downstairs club stays open late.

Friendly people and cozy rooms. Easy to get to most attractions via walking and the subway.

Clean rooms, pleasant staff, boutique feel, comfortable, stylish, great location for site seeing in the financial district. Would like earlier check in options, there isn't parking as advertised… there's a lot 3 blocks away, traffic in the area is exceptionally bad, don't try to drive anywhere, park and take public transit. Great restaurants nearby, reasonable.

Was for the first time 20 years ago in the hotel… At that time a very cheap departing. With the refurbishment for New York conditions a decent and almost inexpensive hotel.

Great hotel st reasonable prices. Very clean rooms and nice staff. It's in a great area. The rooms can be quite small but that's coming in NYC. Have stayed here several times.

The rooms are nice enough and location and overall vibe is cool. So it's 5 story hotel with no elevators and no phones in the room, there are no phones in the rooms and to contact to the front desk you text them :-/

Takes 15 min for water to heat up. No natural light in the room. The personell have a bit of an attitude. But otherwise alright. Good location.

We stayed here overnight, and had 2 rooms booked. We had an unbelievable experience from beginning to end. Accommodating, friendly, attentive and courteous staff, rooms very clean and just an all around great place. It is the oldest hotel in that area and the decor with exposed brick walls drew us in! We will definitely be returning.

The staff and place was very clean. For the money it was a great place to stay overnight. The room pictured looked a little smaller, but overall it was great.

Outstanding and prompt customer service. They went out of their way and accommodated a rather difficult request on virtually no notice. On a side note, they did not have to accommodate such a request, they could have kept money from a reservation but instead, went out of their way, and refunded money from a reservation due to an emergency. Most hotels (and I have been to many) would not have done this. Cannot speak highly enough of the Sohotel and their customer service team.

Sohotel is an amazing place to stay. The atmosphere is warm and homely, whilst the staff are friendly, informative and helpful. The rooms are adequately stocked with high quality and comfortable amenities. Highly recommend.

Room was quaint but clean. Excellent water pressure and got hot — no cold showers here. Excellent location and great nearby restaurants/bars (Randolph beer).

The rooms are small, but I guess that's too be expected in Manhattan. Reception is on the second floor and there are no elevators (that I'm aware of). The staff was very courteous and provided great service.

Very cozy and cute hotel. The staff was wonderful. The rooms are small, but doesn't feel that way with the high ceilings and comfortable atmosphere.

Very good service, is a hotel which is resurfacing and unless some other problem, very good.

History is great, teaches us so much and we definitely respect the past. But we booked this hotel last minute for $400+ each room, and was tremendously disappointed. Luckily it was only for one night before a business meeting, and didn't sleep a wink. Both rooms were terribly tiny and of course very, very, very old. If you enjoy sleep, you'll likely need earplugs. The road noise, talking, snoring, loud fan/exhaust will keep you awake all night. Not to mention the bathroom was so tiny, good luck in trying to keep your toothbrush from falling into the trashbin/floor/other unwanted places. Overall, history may be rich, however, if you're looking for good night's sleep at a decent price, this may not be the place for you. Time to retire this hotel into artifact to worship, and not operate as a business/tourist trap.

Such a cool vibe at this little artsy hotel! In an excellent location. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean. Singh, one of the staff was always there to greet us with a friendly smile. He went out of his way to make us comfortable and feel welcome. The entire staff was great, friendly and very helpful.

Had a wonderful stay, even after I got off the LA "red eye" they let me check in right away at 7am to shower and sleep — the best. It's not 5 star, but brilliant value for money.

We had a great time! The staff was helpful and friendly and we thought it was a great value. The neighborhood was nice, great affordable restaurants and shopping. We will definitely be back to stay at the Sohotel.

Very small room, but its Manhattan! Price was fantastic, very clean, great location, and super friendly and helpful staff. Ill stay there again.

My favorite place when staying in NY. Clean, centraly located, not to expensive pleasent employees. What more could you ask for.

I had my wallet stolen just a few days before my stay at Sohotel this coming Saturday and rather than accepting my Passport as the Federally-Issued Identification that it is, the hotel is insisting that I furnish another card (how exactly I am supposed to do that is beyond me) or else I'll forfeit the booking unless one of the guests I am bringing along for my birthday party will transfer the payment to their card. This, even though the booking has been fully charged to my account already. Apparently they are more worried about having a card to cover "incidentals" that I have no intention of purchasing, rather than providing me with a courteous and hospitable experience. Also, why in the world can my guest's card not be the one used for incidentals while the booking remains on my own account where it is already paid? I am just kind of astounded that after losing my wallet they're still going to make me go through so much just to keep a booking I've already paid for in full.

I visited some friends in room 337. One queen, two singles. It was very tight, but did the job and the prices were competitive. Good location too. The staff were very friendly as well.

When it was called Pioneer Hotel I loved it, stayed every time in Manhattan. Musky, old character. Not good if you have kids.

Very tiny room but high quality mattress. Located in a safe NYC location and the ladies at the front desk are just adorable and helpful. Will go again for sure during my next business trip.

I had an amazing experience at Sohotel. I was visiting NYC for my birthday and 4 of my best friends flew in from different states to celebrate with me. It was our first reunion since they all moved out of Florida so I wanted to get a room big enough for all of us to be together. I booked the room with 3 beds which was a little tight but for 5 people it was better than what I excepted. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I would absolutely suggest this hotel to anyone. Will definitely be stayed here again for our future reunions!

So I was staying there do 3 nights, it's the worst experience I ever had, first the building is to old and the staff was unfriendly I hated talking to them. They make you fell like Sh*t. First night of my saty I was staying on the second floor and believe or not the room was leaking water like crazy from the bathroom side, after I told them about the look at me for a minute like was kidding with the. After they come by and checked it they moved me to other room all the was around 11 pm and when I packed my stuff up the were supposed to hel me with my stuff which the did but not all of my stuff, I had to move it myself. So by the time I got to the other room it was around 1 am. Believe or not the the AC started to drop water on the room from the inside. The manger was supposed to do something about it but no I got nothing in return. I hate it I will never go back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave great restaurant recommendations and subway directions. The rooms were very clean. The location was close to the subway, Little Italy, and Chinatown. The decor was rustic bricks, granite stairs, and hardwood floors. I will definitely stay there again.

I booked two family size rooms at the Sohotel for my best friends bachelorette party. The service was excellent, especially the luggage storage. The rooms were clean and very stylish. Also the beds were very comfortable and all the girls Loved the rain head shower! Overall we very much enjoyed our exceptional stay at Sohotel :).

If you need a cheap and nice place to sleep, this is the best bang for you buck in my opinion. Pros: — Cheap — Very friendly staffs — You can leave your luggage even after checkout — Nice ambiance — Close to the Subway Cons: — Ghetto neighborhood — Not much space for activities in the room — Can hear some noise from the outside — Wifi is off at night We just needed a place to sleep, so this place was perfect.

I don't usually make a negative post, but I really feel people going to this hotel should get a real view of things: Pro: the location of the hotel is great with loads of breakfastspots, shops etc. But then I do prefer that kind of area; personell was very friendly; beds are very comfy; rooms are very clean Cons: this is not a boutique hotel (not in my sense anyway), tiny is no way near he description for the rooms; there was barely 40cm round the bed; no space for 2 suitcases and not enough space for clothes; bathrooms are tiny and very loud; you can hear everything from other rooms, corridor or outside; we had a water pipe running through our room making noise all night and banging (this was our second room after already changing) ; the smell from the deep frier outside meant we couldn't open the windows; even for the price (witch is reasonable) the quality of the entire hotel is not good;.

Excellent place to stay especially for younger people. The staff were helpful and always available. It's right near the B and D trains which can get you uptown in a breeze, and if you'd rather walk and explore there are several great places nearby.

We were welcomed in and well looked after. The rooms are very small, but look good, with comfy beds and nice bathrooms. Good location — easy to get to the interesting spots on the metro. Great unless you need a lot of space.

Terrible hotel, especially if you are traveling with kids. Rooms are tiny, night club speakers were right below our room, and hot water is not a certainty. Way too much money for such a terrible experience. Even without a kid I would not stay here again. I rarely post but had such a bad experience I felt compelled to do so.

Small room (barely room to get around the bed around to go). According to the front of the door, loud in the room (noisy air conditioning). The only advantage: The Metroanbindung the direction of Times Square and JFK. Note: in Addition, you will after the stay via Email spammed! I have the impression, every time when I click on the "unsubscribe" Link in the Newsletter to click, there will be more. The recent "Visit us again" e-mail came three times to the same email address.
