We loved our room as it surpassed our expectations. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location of our room to the concert venue we was very close. I have already recommended this house to a friend.

Absolutely loved it, had read some mixed reports on Trip Advisor about rooms in the annex so was a little wary when were were told we were staying in there but we loved it. We stayed in suite 304 which was a large spacious room, great kitchen with full oven and not just a hob! Sink, fridge, microwave etc. We didn’t take the breakfast on offer purely because we have been travelling for a month and a little sick of bagels & toasts, but with the full kitchen we had we took full advantage of being able to make our own breakfasts instead. Bathroom was quite small but spotlessly clean with both shower and bathtub. Wifi was also very reliable.
I don’t have any bad comments to make, I loved the character of the apartment, it actually took me back to my childhood and staying at grandparents homes! Will add some photos in the comments below…

Nice furnishing and very clean. There is a fully functional kitchen and nice garden/ backyard area. Couple things to be aware of about this bed and breakfast: Parking is street side (if you can find a spot available). Otherwise $10 more for a gated parking spot. Be sure to be in contact with them, for clarity on which building to enter (not marked). Doors are locked, so they have to let you in. Use the push button intercom outside the door to paige them. Though be forewarned they may only give you a rushed overview. No bucket for ice in room. Be sure to request ahead if you need/want one. It's an old building, so the wood floors and staircase is very creaky and loud, esp at night while going up to your room. There are 4 floors, so if you get a room at the top, you will get plenty of exercise going up the stairs (not necessarily a bad thing). The bathroom is a bit cramped, but overall the rooms are very nice. Expect standard continental breakfast fare. Again, all of this is simply to help clarify what to expect, not necessarily a bad thing. They have very nice and helpful staff that will try to accommodate your needs if they are available. Apparently their office is below the kitchen and they are generally not on site after 7pm, so be in contact if planning to check in after that. There are quite a few restaurants and bars within walking distance and you get personalized coupons, however be sure to check if they are open. Apparently many close on certain days.

Beautiful bed and breakfast in downtown Albany. Park with a lake across the street. BEN Jerry's ice cream shop next to the park. Many fine restaurants in walking distance. What a perfect Gem!

Beautiful B&B facing Washington Park. Close enough to all the sights of Albany. Grand old building but with all the comforts. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious, clean, and have lovely touches… feather pillows, down duvets, keurig coffee maker. Will definitely be back.

The Morgan State House has a lot of unique interior character, coupled with an extremely welcoming and accommodating staff. My one night stay included a speedy check in, a map of the area, keys to the suite, offerings of anything inside the kitchen, and a helping hand to my room (which is located next door to the house — don’t worry access to the main house 24/7 is provided with a key). Breakfast was delicious and easily the Morgan State House felt like home, especially after Chuck introduced himself and took the time to chat with my boyfriend and I. There is a lot of local knowledge to acquire from these hospitable staff members! Shops, meuseums and historical buildings are all within walking distance (trooping in the rain made for a wet but beautiful stroll, still, while taking in the architecture of surrounding buildings on foot). I’m very much looking forward to my next stay here and exploring more of Washington Park across the way as well as the shops on Lark Street. Very pleased to have stumbled upon this stay through Google!

A beautiful old town house that has an exception location. The parking was also very convient.

Chose this place as it was very convenient to our business meeting this week in Albany. We actually stayed in the annex building 2 doors down, but very comfortable. Breakfast was available in the Main home and done very well. Owner and his sister are super nice and if I was in Albany again, I would stay at this place. Walking distance to downtown Albany and plenty of food choices. Thanks for a pleasant stay Chuck.

Loved this place. Clean, downtown location with tons of personality, your own flat and great breakfast. Important note: can be tricky if your coming in late since the office closes at 7.

Quaint and charming place to stay. The folks there are very accommodating. I would highly recommend staying here while in Albany.

We only stayed one night, but if time had allowed we'd have stayed longer. The location is perfect for the local restaurants and looks out over the park. The rooms and shared areas look like they have come out of a glossy magazine and were very comfortable and clean. Our hosts were helpful, friendly and welcoming — what more could you ask for.

A grand old Albany house, lovingly looked after. It's located by the park and the main street for a great selection of restaurants. The room was huge and beautifully presented as was the bathroom — think glossy magazine spread and you'll get the idea. Our hosts were helpful and attentive and we left wishing we had been staying more than just one night.

While most reviews were clearly for the main house, we were walked to the annex. Third floor room facing busy street. Incredibly loud. Very nice room, but by the end of your stay you'll know the music tastes of half the drivers in Albany and exactly what time the garbage trucks come into town (5am). Four stars because otherwise it's a pleasant stay, just be sure when you make your reservations you're not getting a room that faces Henry Johnson Blvd.

Stunning hotel, home from home feel and perfect location with great hospitality. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the most stunning suite on the top floor, this made our stay even more enjoyable as this was a one night stop gap between Niagara and Cape Cod. Thanks again and I'll be telling my friends from the U. K. This is a must stay hotel.

Excellent bed and room, the friendliest owner and healthy breakfast. We though did not like the location or the part of town there.

We did a corporate function here with 12 people the amenities were perfect Chuck and his team did an awesome job providing food and beverages throughout the day even offering suggestions where we can go for dinner, great place to have a relaxed corporate meeting.

Street noise is a significant problem with some rooms. The inn itself is very impressive and nice, however the room I got was not in this building but the apartment building at 399 State. This room was a good size and very nice but it also overlooked Henry Johnson Blvd which is a main thoroughfare for loud vehicles as well as frequent police and ambulances sirens. Not really the experience expected. Make sure you get a room that doesn't overlook Henry Johnson if you're not used to loud traffic all night.

We stopped here on our way to Maine for our honeymoon. We stayed in the main house and it was a very nice experience. The room was super cozy, the house had a beautiful vintage charm, and the staff was very kind and accommodating! I would recommend Morgan State House to anyone!

This place is exactly what we were looking for! A historic building within walking distance to little shops and restaurants. We stayed in the suite on the 4th floor which was the original owner's art studio. It was magnificent. Gorgeous architecture with modern amenities. And the staff is very sweet. Loved everything about The Morgan State House.

Very friendly staff, fun to talk to. The rooms are very nice with a great vintage ambiance without actually feeling "old". The main house has a superbly kept patio and courtyard. The kitchen is fully stocked with foods and amenities ready for your use. Breakfast is a super charged continental. It will feel like you are in your own kitchen except everything you need is provided for you. I would stay again just to give the other rooms a try.

Stayed in the annex. It was very nice and well appointed. The room had ample space and a nice kitchenette. The bed was way too soft. Breakfast in the main house was pleasurable.

Very nice experience. We stayed in one of the suites next door to the State House and it was nicely laid out with great amenities in kitchen, bath and bedrooom. We walked to the Morgan House for breakfast which was very nice also. The only complaint I have would be that I like being served instead of having to fend for myself with breakfast. I can do that at home… it's why I go away.

A fabulous place to stay for a visit in Albany, NY. Super hospitality. Room was spotless and perfectly clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was awesome. The management were super nice people. If you are looking for a place to stay in Albany, the Morgan State House is highly recommended. Alan.

Warm, friendly staff, amazingly comfortable room, the charm of a cozy Inn. I was so tired of the typical business hotel stay at a traditional moderately price hotel this was an amazing departure. Close in, adjacent to a downtown park and two blocks from interesting shops and restaurants. The only reason I hesitate to give this such a great review is that there will be more demand and the rates may go up.

Great B&B inn! So glad I chose to stay here in the fall 2014 instead of a chain hotel. Central location, very clean rooms, modern television and free Wi-Fi. I recommend you book one of the suites facing the park — great views, spacious room and very peaceful. Morgan State House staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is steps from great food on Lark street.

Awesome find in the middle of a city. Beautifully decorated rooms at great prices. Amazing hospitality, access to a full sized kitchen and cute garden. I will be coming back for sure.

Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable — the recommendations for shopping and dining were spot on. We also enjoyed walking across the street and around the park located directly across the street. We stayed in the artist studio suite — which is beautiful for all the natural light. The snacks in the kitchen were perfect after coming in after touring the city, and the light breakfast was just what we needed before continuing on with the rest of our vacation. The only thing that prevented this from being an "loved it" experience was the unfortunate sight of a large dead bug in the kitchen. : (.

We were excited to stay at the Morgan State House Inn. We knew we were in another building, but were disappointed to find that it was an apartment building with significantly less character. The foyer and halls smelled smoky. The room was nice but a bit worn, and there was no Wi-Fi in the room. The breakfast was also disappointing. On offer were pastries, store bought breads to toast, coffee, yogurt, and juice. No eggs, no fruit except one unripe banana. At this price we were hoping for more, in both our room and breakfast.
