Review of Chateau Suites 2*

Prefacing this with I did not stay here, just did a hotel inspection for family who are staying there this weekend. The lobby is so clean! With a Mom and Pop type hotel, I always check for funky smells — this hotel smelled like a nice hotel, just a nice as a more expensive hotel, though located behind a restaurant, it didn't smell like food at all. Another caveat — the hotel was almost fully booked so I inspected a room that hadn't been cleaned yet after a previous overnight guest. It STILL passed with flying colors! The floors in all the rooms are tile. The tile was squeaky clean — edges, corners, bathroom, under the bed — all clean. The mattress had been stripped — no sign of bed bugs. There was a significant crack in the vanity top, but the bathroom was surprisingly awesome — *nice* shower with a waterfall shower head, glass was spotless (which tells me they keep it that clean regularly! ), toilet was clean at the bottom and no dust behind the toilet. There is a soaking tub in the corner of the bedroom. Not a jetted tub, just a soaking tub. It was also really clean. Based on cleanliness alone, five stars. They've obviously been doing some renovations, and it comes through by looking up to date and not at all worn down. I took away one star **only** for the crack in the vanity top, the confusing location (it is behind a restaurant), the lobby not being labeled from the outside, and the confusing departure from the parking lot. None of these things though would stop me from recommending this hotel to the pickiest members of my own family.
