Stayed for my wedding, staff and facilities we're excellent and very professional. The maid service was especially helpful when guests got locked out of rooms. All of our guests were very pleased with the accommodations and enjoyed the breakfast.

I just arrived. The room has been recently renovated, it's clean, up to date, nice tv, comfortable bed. There's a good selection of pillows, including firm, which is not normally the case elsewhere. Bathroom is elegant. The staff went out of their way go accommodate me. Next time I'm here on business I'll stay here again!

The food here is AMAZING and for the quality, the prices really aren't that bad. We also had our wedding reception in the gold ballroom here. The staff was great and they even threw in some extras that we opted out of. We go back almost every year for our anniversary. Excellent date night dinner!

Wonderful place to stay. Very friendly staff. The restaurant is very good. While this was a business trip, the surrounding area is full of green, yet close to Wilmington. For working, the Wifi is free and of good quality.

Just had dinner there for our 45th wedding anniversary. Seems to me the building has been updated. Meal was very good. A bit pricey but we enjoyed our dinner.

This is a great wedding venue. Friendly staff who are especially accommodating. I asked a particular employee with a great Irish accent for a bowl of hot water to heat up some milk for our infant, and when we sat at our table it was waiting for us. Highly recommend this venue.

Ask to check in early over the phone and was told we were good. When we arrived we were told otherwise by the same person. We spoke with a supervisor and got the issue taken care of.

Spent two nights here a few months ago to attend a wedding they hosted. The first night I got no sleep. There were drunk, loud guests making a ruckus multiple times during the night in the hallway. I had to tell them to be quiet myself. I couldn't phone the front desk about it in the middle of the night because it would have just further disturbed my companions who were trying to sleep. I informed multiple desk clerks of this the next day. The first one I spoke with knew immediately the drunken, rude jackasses who had troubled us, as they had been rude to her as well. She was sympathetic. She assured us those guests were checking out that day, so it wouldn't happen again the next night. She was right, but we hadn't received the service we were owed at a hotel where they supposedly have a "zero tolerance" policy for such disruptive noise. So I asked for a refund for our first night's stay and was assured by multiple clerks they would have the manager contact me and issue the refund. The manager never contacted us and never issued any refund or apology. This was despite the bride and groom who booked these rooms months in advance having received assurances there would be no such rowdy, noisy behavior in the hotel. We disputed that charge on our card and it was reversed because apparently the manager is a shameless disgrace!

Food was very good and service was great. I would definitely host another party here again.

The Inn at Mendenhall was a great facility for the conference and dinner I just attended there. The staff was very helpful and professional. The food was very good and the Grand ballroom has a staircase that I can see being very pretty for a wedding reception. I would highly recommend for conferences and receptions.

I attended a meeting and dinner at the Inn at Mendenhall. The facility was immaculate and the staff was very helpful and professional. The catered food was very good. I would recommend hosting meetings/dinner events here. There is also a beautiful staircase into the Grand ballroom that I can see being very nice if they do weddings.

The kindnesses and courtesies extended by each and every staff member were a huge comfort during a difficult time. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful stay!

We love Alexander's Tavern in the Mendenhall Hall in! The freshest salads and many choices, for lunch and dinner. Oh, by the way, best French fries ever! The staff are great also!

Went in for a sandwich Saturday evening, nice atmosphere and clean,, I like clean. We waited a little longer than I like but it was crazy busy with a wedding reception and regular do ers like myself and Mrs I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich and Barbara had crab cake sandwich. Both dinners a solid 8 out of 10. Waited was as quick as he could be with all the guest and he was very pleasant. Check it out.

Excellent choice for just dinner or a special occasion. Dinners were excellent. Reasonable prices and the dining room was beautiful. Very quiet also.

I was there for Private party event. Staff was very nice. The room was well layed out and the decor was above average. Food for dinner was adequate.

The Inn advertises an upcoming renovation project which I'm looking forward to seeing the results of. Though honestly, I didn't see much need for it. The staff was welcoming. The king bed was so so comfortable. Plenty of fluffy pillows. The breakfast was your standard hotel breakfast offering with weak coffee and watery OJ which is the only negative I can think of. But really, when have you ever been to a hotel with a memorable breakfast included. I'll stay there again if I visit Longwood Gardens over a weekend.

Love this hotel. It's quiet, clean and comfortable. However…, the bar/restaurant staff seem to determine when they close up shop, not management. It may say closing time '11pm' on the restaurant door but that is not the case. I've stayed here several times and not been able to get dinner after 9pm because the staff have decided it's quiet enough to close up for the night. Same is true of their sister bar, Station 52 just south of the hotel across the railway tracks. I tried there at 9:30pm on NFL opening game night only to be told they were closed despite the opening hours on the door clearly stating 'closing time 11pm'. Any other restaurants are a drive away so not ideal but I do recommend 'Buckley's' a few miles south on Route 52 who actually are open until 11pm. As I travel to Delaware frequently but am often late back to the hotel due to late work hours I'll be staying elsewhere from now on. Very disappointing customer service.

This place is a blast! Fantastic '80 tacky style, you have to love it. The best feature — wall phone in the bathroom, also the only phone in the room. Tiny windows make up for dark atmosphere, views are either the road or the parking lot. It is in beautiful, wooded, area. Restaurant with a limited, junk food menu, onsite, everything else at least 20 minutes drive. Receptionist has been working there for 30 years. The hotel has no pool. Unfortunately, it'll be renovated this year.

This is an older property but very clean and well maintained, very delightful actually. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, beds were great, everything worked well, shower was amazing! We had dinner with friends in the restaurant — outside in courtyard — food and service were very good. This place is quite close to Longwood Gardens and is a great choice if you are spending a day there. We will return, no doubt. They are starting a renovation soon so you might ask about that before booking.

The Mendenhall is a nice quiet place (when not hosting events) between Kennett Square and Chadds Ford PA. Plenty of parking, breakfast included. The hotel is clean with good AC and has breakfast and a decent bar and restaurant. The bar went through a recent renovation and sadly did away with the local hound hunting motif and extensive taxidermy collection of local animals. I rotate hotels in the Kennett Square area and am there about every 2-3 weeks. I generally look for the the best rate with a group of 4 hotels. The only time to avoid is when they have frequent weddings and events in the same night, its a bit to crowded and loud. The main guest quarters on the left are nicer than the few rooms in the main restaurant building. The ones in the main building are a bit quieter all are adequate an clean. The staff is friendly and fairly flexible if they can on early check in / late check out if needed.

Went for dinner. Food was average. Used a $200 gift card given to me by a client. This card was purchased two months previously and was never used. The restaurant came back and told me there was no money on the card but they would search for the purchase. They came back and stated that dinner, $98, would be covered but they would not honor any further balance. The manager argued with and was insulting. This was the absolute worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I will never return.

I stayed here for a wedding. The ballroom and service for the reception was excellent. The overnight accommodations were also great. I would highly recommend.

I stayed in the hotel. Smelled good upon entry, staff was attentive, the room was clean and quiet.

Took my mom and wife to mothers day buffet. 5:30 reservation food was horrible and old and dried out. Heard and talked to lots of people saying the same thing. Asked to speak to the manager and all the managers had left how convenient.

Very nice and clean. Beds are twins, but pillows were soft. All employees were helpful and courteous.

Fantastic food and very kind and helpful wait staff. I had dinner here for my birthday and the staff brought out a complimentary surprise lava cake for us. Their speciality seafood dishes are particularly good.

Their Sunday brunch is great. Eat at the lovely bar and save 25%.

Dinner and drinks in the new bar area is a great way to unwind after a hectic day.

My niece and I stayed overnight at the inn for a Girls Garden Getaway in order to catch the Nightscape at Longwood and visit Winterthur the following day. Located in between both gardens, it was quite convenient to run to the hotel, check in, get cleaned up and grab a bite to eat before heading back to Longwood for the Nightscape after spending the entire summer day traipsing through the gardens. The inn staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and accommodating, the rooms were clean, (spotless actually, ) and the beds were comfortable. We looked into eating at the restaurant, but we weren't in the mood for bar food, and we felt we weren't in the proper attire for the restaurant. (No one said anything, we just didn't feel like we would be comfortable in extremely casual attire. ) So we had our dinner elsewhere. The complimentary breakfast offered by the inn, would have to rank in one of my top 10 complimentary breakfasts that I have come across. Eggs, (with or without cheese, ) bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, make your own waffles, or pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, bagels, juice, coffee and teas — and that is just what I remember! I would definitely recommend staying at the inn, especially if checking out the surrounding attractions such as the gardens, museums and vineyards.

Incredible hotel experience. I have stayed there numerous times and am always greeted warmly by their helpful staff. The rooms are very spacious and always clean. The restaurant is also incredible. I would recommend trying the brunch! Delicious.

My husband made reservations for us for Valentines Day 2015. We were seated in a room festooned with red and white helium balloons tied to the flower vases on the table like it was a fiver year old child's birthday party. Our waiter (we assume because we are a same sex couple) never welcomed us, introduced himself or offered us the specials like he and all the wait staff were doing at other tables, he had to be asked to fill drinks and was very obviously avoiding our table as we could see how he was interacting with the tables around us and he surely wasn't with us. The food was very good however and the portion sizes very nice and pricing on par for a "special menu" event. However the only dining room staff member to be gracious to us was a secondary waiter who noticed that our primary waiter had not boxed the leftover dessert, she promptly took care of it in a very friendly manner. My husband spoke to the manager about our treatment and was continually cut off by him as he tried to explain our concerns. The manager was rude at best and only said he was sorry in a manner that made us feel like how dare we bother him with such a problem because our waiter had been with them for many years. Needless to say our Valentines Day dinner was ruined and we will never return. This being 2015, they may want to offer sensitivity training to their staff and the manager. The situation could have been handled much differently.

Reservation for family of 5 for Thanksgiving a disaster. No room at buffet. Sat us at bar without telling us there was no buffet available. Menu selections limited. Rude manager. Will not return.

Food was not up to expectations. Mash potatoes cold. Very pricey for not a good meal.

Something's definitely changed with the service for group events. I've used Mendenhall Inn many times over the years and was always pleased with their ability to accommodate menu requests, etc. I've been very disappointed with the handling of my event for a graduation ceremony. Very little flexibility on the menu and clearly revenue-focused only. It's probably time to look at other options in the future.

Very cozy place to stay. My wife and I stayed overnight on a Friday night and loved it. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. The first room we were put in had a problem with the heat. While at the front desk trying to get it resolved, the owner came in and helped find another room quickly (the desk clerk was new and having a little trouble figuring out what to do). The owner was very nice to us and even offered to help carry our belongings from the one room to the other! Every staff member there that we had interaction with was very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a nice comfortable place to stay, where you can relax and feel at home, this place is worth staying at.

The hotel stay was wonderful, but the getaway experience was ruined by their restaurant. Let me start with telling you that we have been visiting this restaurant and liked it for many years. It was one of our favorite places on the getaway trips to Pennsylvania. We are sorry to say that all the declining in quality of the food and service we were watching through the last few years as well as today’s horrible experience brought us to decision not to patronize this establishment any more. Let’s start with the Food: Nice description of the dishes on the menu does not mean you’ll get what you ordered. Today we ordered: a) SPINACH DUMPLINGS (Five Oriental style spinach dumplings, pan seared in sesame oil, over a bed of sautéed spinach, Shiitake mushrooms and asparagus, served with a sweet mango sauce) There were no asparagus what so ever, but there were 5 tasteless spinach pot stickers probably cooked from the frozen foods section of the supermarket. b) CHILEAN SEA BASS (Boneless Chilean sea bass, accompanied with crabmeat imperial wrapped in a flaky pastry, baked to perfection, and served on a pool of lobster and saffron cream sauce). There were no sea bass (my best guess it was Tilapia), no signs of crabmeat imperial. We ordered it with rice and asparagus, received with baked potato and green beans. And that is after our unprofessional, inattentive, irritably bubbling waiter was convincing us to take these as veg/starch sides.
