My husband and I stayed here on a last minute booking. This is definitely a cute little B&B. Very clean inside. I cannot comment on the staff as we never saw any. Check-in was done via an envelope sitting in the foyer and check-out was done the same as well. Despite that, the room was lovely and clean. I did have one issue with the tub area. The mat on the outside of the tub is DANGEROUSLY slippery. I almost slipped multiple times, even walking carefully. The grounds were somewhat overgrown and could definitely use some maintenance but still nice. They have a walking trail that unfortunately we weren’t able to get to far on due to massive amounts of rain recently and trail being muddy. However, as we walked back on the trail we saw this “creepy” area (seen in pictures). No really sure what the purpose of it is but it’s not functional as a “gym” as it looks like it’s supposed to be and honestly we just found it kind of weird. Breakfast was scaled back from what I could tell (due to Covid) based on their website but was still very good. Fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, breads, waffle makers, juices and coffee. Again, still never saw any staff. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely love to come back some day.

Me and my husband only got to stay two nights at this wonderful place but those two nights were amazing! yummy breakfast amazing spa and great people!

We just stayed at this charming B&B and I absolutely enjoyed our stay from the moment we pulled up to this historic inn. The owner Harry was SO nice and very friendly, made us feel very welcomed. We absolutely loved our two room suite, it was very clean & spotless. The bed was unbelievably soft and comfy, and I didn’t want to get out of it. Our room also had an amazing mural painted on all 4 walls. Breakfast was very nice as well, with fresh bagels, a waffle station, fresh fruit etc…. We enjoyed it while sitting in the lovely back sun porch room. Also, out back, there are two small trails if you’d like to explore the property, there is a creek that you could possibly do some fishing, but it’s not real deep. There’s not a lot to do in the area, but if you’d like to go to dinner, Chesapeake City is a short 20 minute ride and you can get a very nice dinner at the Chesapeake inn restaurant that’s on the water. I can’t say enough good things about this place. We will definitely go again.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay last week for our honeymoon! The togetherness massage was great, thank you Joy for sharing with us the history of the Inn and wonderful massage!

This stunning historic property is a phemominal getaway for any occasion or solo experience! They have thought of absolutely EVERYTHING — from having their liquor license, a gift shop, mini fridges and menus from local restaurants (from quick bites to fancy meals). They give their guests the opportunity to choose between many unforgettable activities — on property and in the surrounding areas — with detailed information for choosing and planning your day.
The Innkeepers are very patient and flexible, as well as pet friendly and super classy! Will be back! Also easy to find!

We just left from a romantic getaway. It’s beautiful, clean and the people are very friendly. We will be coming back! The covid restrictions did not bother us at all since we knew prior to coming! Definitely check out the gift shop prior to settling in the have the best gift baskets for your stay — wine, chocolates, bath booms and more!

We came to this B&B as our first experience with a B&B and it was wonderful. The owner gentleman was amazing. No one was giving us a hand with fixing a head light bulb except him. Kindness is amazing at this Inn. He just met us and offered his tools from the garage and it was fixed. We stayed and got the history of the area. It made our anniversary weekend so wonderful. Our friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves it October 2020. Thank you Harry, for your kindness and generosity. I hope we can come back someday.

What a perfect location for any event… my daughter’s 5th Birthday Party could not have been any more perfect! Brittany is a gem and very accommodating.

My husband and I were recently married and also stayed at Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast Inn. It was planned very quickly, however Leann and Harry did not miss a beat to ensure our day was exactly as we had dreamed. The entire facility is charming and there are different options for ceremonies and receptions. We chose the Sugarhouse Barn and used the nearby archway for our ceremony. Leann and Harry were responsive and accommodating. The food at my wedding was absolutely delicious, and everyone raved about the cake. Guests, and my husband and I stayed the night. If your goal is a low key, relaxed, and beautiful small wedding, this venue is for you. We will return every anniversary for spa treatments, walks on the green, and beautiful views.

I had a wonderful stay. It’s so beautiful. Everyone was so nice and always attentive. I’m already planning my next stay.

Contacted to reschedule our stay, my daughter has the flu. From the beginning he was extremely rude. Explained to me they can only reschedule spa. No where do I see their cancellation policy. He stated they made exceptions because they usually only rent two nights or more. That exception wasn't made for me, that's something they choose to offer. He asked me if I wanted to cancel bc I would be out of $319, I stated let me speak to my husband and I will let him know. He then says wow I see your priorities. He does not know what type of Mother I am nor does he know my situation. For him to say that to me is outrageous to me. He does not know me. I felt from the very beginning he did not want to help me at all! Extremely rude from the beginning and very unprofessional! I will never ever stay at the Elk Forge and will highly recommend anyone to choose not too! I truly can not believe I was completely disrespected in that matter! I also put a form complaint with the BBB.

Had Our wedding ceremony at Elk forge Inn it was held in the outside garden area which was beautiful! The time of year obviously matters but was beginning of June and it was perfect! Very friendly staff but very hard to communicate with or get them to call you back just way to laid back for my taste when it comes to someone’s important day. The down stairs where my girls & I got dressed was so pretty and classy they had snacks and drinks out and also had a place for my husband and his guys. Wish outside had a sound system for music while walking down the aisle, they have plenty of plug ins so we brought our own system just wasn’t convenient. They let you come early to decorate so that was very easy but Everything went smoothly and was a great day! Def recommend for an outside wedding!

We went here for our 5 year anniversary and loved it! It’s centrally located (lots to do in the surrounding areas), plus the house has such great character! Well worth the drive down. Can’t wait to plan our next getaway!

Harry is very hospitable and pleasant, Nicole is a very good cook, the breakfast was delicious, the house is beautiful, our 2 room suite was amazing, and we really enjoyed our weekend stay.

There breakfast is from 7 to 9:30, yet at 8:30 the eggs were gone, there were no more forks, glasses or water. They seem to put it together at 7 and then disappear. When asked whether they had more eggs, they said no. Additionally, the glasses in the cabinet were smeared and not clean.

Very good service and people, the place hasn't been updated since World War II, every wall looks like it's about to fall apart. The bathtub was very dirty and the shower curtains we're overdue for a change couple of years ago. Breakfast was not as advertised. The only thing fantastic about it is the staff and the location. Also, in some of their rooms there is only a closet you're dividing you and the bedroom. So it's like you would go to the bathroom in front of someone in the shower, if you're not comfortable with that and you haven't broken the sound barrier, do not go there with your wife / girlfriend.

Longwood room was very nice. Better than the pics. Breakfast was nice. Massage was great. Good place to get away from EVERYTHING. Lol. Blue crab grille also made the weekend. I'd come back.

LOVED it! Excellent breakfast in a beautiful setting. This house has been lovingly restored and they did a fantastic job. Only thing I didn't like was the bed squeaked bad during a very important time. Wink wink wink. Would highly recommend. We WILL stay here again. Maybe try a different room/bed.

We felt immediately as though at our own home! The Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast provided the quiet and peace and tranquility of a home nestled in the woods, with fresh cut grass, and the nearby streams, the white noise of the winding road with infrequent traffic created a reverence appropriate to the 1776 built home with the 1910 wood floors, each room themed and outfitted to provide a special oasis for each guest. We noted that, nearly as soon as we arrived, we began to speak in quieted and calmed whispers, the stress of the city and work left far behind. The personal attention and care provided by Harry and Lee Ann and the skilled staff was genuine and apparent from the quaint exotic tea shop to the superb, tasty and plentiful breakfast served in the gorgeous, solarium sun room. A special thank you to Lee Ann for the couple’s massage, it was truly relaxing, and to Harry for his sincere attention to the care of all his home guests. It was apparent that the Elk Forge B&B is a labor of love to the owners and their only intent and hope is that you feel as though their home is your home during your stay. Highly recommend and truly looking forward too numerous return visits to ‘home’ at Elk Forge B&B.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. It was only about 3 hours from NYC even leaving in rush hour traffic on a Friday! We stayed in the Brandywine suite, which has a gas fireplace and a whirlpool tub. The inn definitely has its own charm. You can see the stonework from the outside of the original building within the suite, which we loved! The only thing I would have changed about the suite was that the walls were painted with a scene of George Washington and his troops. I'm all for American history, but not as decor. Breakfast was good and the staff was polite and accommodating. Would consider visiting again!

The location is conveniently located near the main highway as 95 crosses the Maryland border into Delaware. This location makes it easy to come and go between various locations in either state and in Pennsylvania. The bed part is cozy, the rooms are not overly large but plenty sufficient for spending the night. The staff is incredibly friendly and personable, striving to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast part of the stay is sufficient. The food, though enjoyable, is primarily carbs served as a continental breakfast and buffet style. If your late the pickings will be slim. It's nice to not have to show up for breakfast service as a specific hour, but I don't think I enjoyed trading convenience for quality in this case. Ultimately this was a minor gripe but worth mentioning.

Pros: very nice owners; great breakfast buffet; welcoming vibes throughout, plus pet friendly cons: — Rooms are old and furniture is ran down. E. G. My shower has little pressure and water is lukewarm. My closet couldn't be closed. My toilet has yellow stains — I also booked a room for my parents and they felt like the bed wasn't made clean after the last guest. Overall, would suggest renovating the facilities and cleaned it up after each guest. I felt like even with the groupon price, it is not worth it… so probably won't be back. I do appreciate a free upgrade (10$) to a room with a jetted tub except that the tub itself is not functioning any more…

Excellent atmosphere, the rooms are very nice. Ours had a nice fireplace and a canopy bed. There are lots of sitting areas, games, books, tea, etc that you can take advantage of. Many things to do nearby. Had a great time. The breakfast was decent but not great, which is why I only have four stars.

Beautiful venue for a wedding. A very private, quiet, and large wooded location. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Plenty of room for parking and outdoor activities.

I stayed 2 nights in the Elkton room. I absolutely love the aesthetic of the place. There is a lot of antique furniture, and I especially like the sitting room. Our room was right under the gabled ceiling, so there wasn't a lot of headroom on one side of the bed. I think they could rearrange the furniture to give you a little more room though. We never did figure out how to work the blinds in our room. I really like the whirlpool tub in the room, but I didn't try the jacuzzi. The breakfast was really nice with fruit, eggs, muffins, waffles, and almond bread pudding. The staff was very nice, and one of the owners even gives spa services.

This is absolutely my favorite B&B, I would highly recommend it to anyone. The other guests were even friendly, it's like they keep out the riff-raff. The breakfast is great, I love making my waffles. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the rooms are amazing. And I've stayed in several different ones throughout the years. I highly recommend the Longwood Suite.

Many thanks to the folks at Elk Forge for providing one of the best options for food and refreshments at the Fair Hill International — with a superior selection of beverages — teas of all types; pastries rivalling any Parisian (or Scottish) bakery; delightful and affordable boxed tea sandwiches; and for the traditionalist, a ploughman's tea, too. Plus, an assortment of collectibles to coddle the Anglophile in any of us — I went home with two tea cups and saucers, and a ceramic lemon curd dish! I'm so hoping that the Tea Room will be a continuing venue, at the FHI.

Relax and travel back in time at this beautiful, elegant, Colonial manor house that's only a short drive from Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D. C.! We stayed here at the recommendation of a friend who lives nearby. We arrived and found out there was a big wedding there the next day, and they upgraded us to the large Valley Forge suite. And gave us a personalized gift bag with candy, biscotti and other treats. The suite was breathtaking. The bedroom has a Queen bed, …full bath, decent closet and a large hot tub! A separate living room with a couch, desk, mini-fridge and microwave has folding doors to separate the rooms. Both rooms have large flat-screen TVs and working gas fireplaces. Flip the switch and you can take the chill off of those crisp winter nights. The air conditioning is just right. The sheets, blankets and pillows are wonderfully luxurious, and the bed is a delight for sleeping. The towels are wonderfully thick and absorbant. But it's the little extras that make all the difference. There is bottled water waiting in the room, The closet contains a wonderful logo bathrobe. The shower has shanpoo and conditioner dispensers built in. The free Wi-Fi is strong and fast, with routers placed to good advantage. Picking up the lobby phone connects you automatically to the cell phone of a staffer on duty. Just outside our suite is a patio with a table and chairs, and a small koi pond. The woods and creek provide excellent walking trails.

We had a wonderful weekend at Elk Forge. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, with eggs, breakfast casseroles, waffles, oatmeal, pastries, fresh fruit & bagels, literally something for everyone. The house is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable with lots of charm. Our room had its own 2 person jacuzzi and there is also a large hot tub outside on the deck. We loved walking on the nature trail by the creek. There is a delicious restaurant serving dinner called Daddio's less than a mile from the Inn. I recommend Elk Forge to anyone looking for a get-away of any type… romantic, ladies escape, family fun etc. We absolutely LOVE this place. Looking forward to returning soon!

Such a beautiful building. So many neat antiques everywhere, gorgeous construction, great natural surroundings. The rooms are a bit small of course, and breakfast was ok, nothing special. Lots of stuff to do in the surrounding area and the restaurants have been fantastic. I would do definitely come here again.

This past weekend, My fiancé and I stayed in the Wilmington room and could not have been more pleased. The staff there that weekend were extremely welcoming and friendly. I felt at home the second I started to walk through the mansion. The housekeeping in this place is spot on, you will not see anything out of order or dusty. We did not have the best view since our room was located on the 3rd floor therefore we could barely enjoy the morning sunrise. The breakfast was absolutely delicious (highly recommend the French Toast OMG) We sat down stairs in the dinning area, again, a very comfortable, intimate setting. The sun lit up the room. The music was very calm and relaxing. If you need an innkeeper it may be hard to track one down physically however, there are phones located in the mansion and a number to dial to locate one in case of emergency or just a general question. Lastly, Elk Forge Bed & Breakfast Inn and Spa has opened up deeper conversation with my fiancé and I as we are now considering this place as a venue for our wedding. We live in New Jersey and can't wait to return to our honorary second home (Elk Forge B&B) :) A minor con would be the carpet — You may see some permanent stains in the hallway/stairs that can not be removed or brightened with shampoo.

I rented the Conservatory for a high tea bridal shower and I could not have been more pleased! The staff at Elk Forge is top notch; they checked in with me often to make sure we had everything we needed, but were discreet and unobtrusive so as not to disturb the event itself. The food was out of this world and the room itself was neat, clean, and absolutely perfect for the event! Elk Forge was flexible with our arrival and departure times and were always quick to respond to phone calls and emails. I will absolutely be returning here some day and will definitely recommend it to friends who want to host a cute tea party!

If I could give it no stars, I would. My boyfriend and I tried to stay there just for a night together alone and ended up leaving not even a hour later. We were put in the "Wilmington" room, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the walls (we were on the 3rd floor) make it to where it was awkward to stand, the bathroom was a closet. We were very disappointed at the room after seeing the beautiful main floor. We didn't even bother trying to hunt down one of the hosts for a refund. We will not be returning or recommending the Elk Forge B&B to anybody.

Nice but a bit outdated. We stayed in the Country Club suite which had a nice jacuzzi and fireplace but the floral pattern wall paper was a bit weird. The fixtures are very old but go with the theme of the rest of the Inn. Pros: Property and grounds were excellent, service and staff were excellent and non-intrusive, fireplace was nice to have in the winter, relatively quiet even when Inn was full. Cons: Too close to busy road, breakfast was lacking, no outside alcohol?, decor, overpriced for the time of year we visited even with last minute discount.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself. I highly recommend a visit. I will be back! Impeccable service and nice innkeepers. Beautiful decor and rooms. No detail was left undone and the hospitality was awesome!

Great overall experience after a questionable start. My wife and I stayed 3 days and 2 nights in the beautiful Longwood Suite. We had originally paid for a different suite that had a gas leak, so they accommodated us in their best suite. Pros: The staff is very kind, the suite was amazing, and the views were nice. We had a fantastic couple's massage in their spa located in the old servant's quarters. The breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable in a sun-filled room. The rooms were clean and the fireplaces really heated up the whole suite. It was a very peaceful place to go and relax. Cons: the original suite we had reserved had a gas leak! The suite we stayed in had a microwave and small fridge but no table or chairs if you wanted to eat. I would definitely recommend the Longwood Suite if you decide to stay in this lovely BnB.

We used a Groupon deal and stayed in the Lancaster Room for one night. When we entered, we were not greeted by a host / hostess. We had to search for someone to ask questions. Pretty much was this way the whole stay. The room was very nice and comfortable, the sheets were soft and the bed comfortable. The door to the bathroom was a slotted, folding door, allowing fan noise from our and the neighboring room's bathroom into the bedroom. The water was nice and hot and I loved the bear claw bath tub! The breakfast was good, served from 8-10 am. Hot coffee and other beverages were available at all times, along with a jar filled with home baked cookies. The building was located right off of a busy road right up the road from what appeared to be some sort of a quarry. The road and truck noise were not what we were expecting. There were two very short walking trails. Overall, it was an ok stay, but would not go back. Not the usual warm and friendly B&B experience due to the lack of warm and friendly interactive hosts! There were people who worked there, and could answer questions, but we never knew their status, because they never really introduced themselves to us unless we asked!
