The staff was the rudest I’ve ever experienced. When we arrived, we asked for assistance with our luggage. They said that wasn’t available. I then asked for a cart since we had 7 suitcases we were traveling with along with a child. It took over 30 minutes to receive it. After we loaded everything onto the cart on our own and unloaded into our rooms, I noticed our non smoking room had a stench of cigarettes in it. Our options were to either load up again and switch rooms or $20 off. We didn’t have the energy to do that again so we stayed in the room and put up with it.
Following that, we went downstairs to get food and a drink. Tried to relax a bit despite everything. Then we were approached by the man who brought us the cart and he told us that we needed to go back upstairs and bring the cart down because he was the only person working and other people might need it. I’ve never been to a hotel where I was expected to cater to myself. For that, we could’ve stayed in an Airbnb. There was no service.
On top of that, the pool is closed and the hotel is located in a sketchy area. We will never be staying there again.

Do not use long term parking here, they leave you stranded at the airport and then call you and other customers liars saying the shuttle multiple times when it in fact did not.

Very good service I like the cleanliness of the rooms all excellent.

My reservation started with a small double bedroom, no hot water, and no refrigerator. The place was very clean as per the COVID-19 standards but the staff gave off a very aggressive feel when checking in. The transport van that takes people to and from the airport drove very aggressively and a few times I was scared that we would crash on the way to AND from the airport. On the SECOND day of my stay my only vehicle to get home and to and from work was stolen. The hotel did not provide any compensation upfront besides to call the police. I have no means of transporting myself home or anywhere and the staff still does not have any empathy. Book your stay somewhere else.

We were stuck in New Jersey because our cruise ship couldn’t leave Bayonne port. They accommodate my family and many others last minute. When we arrived we were greeted with free bottles of water and warm cookies! Which was nice because we had been lingering around town all day, either at the port or just wondering what we should do, spending all our cruise money. So it was nice to be greeted with treats and water All the kids were SO HAPPY about the pool, many forgot we were supposed to be at Disneyland that day and were just happy to be swimming and in a nice hotel. My seven year old didn’t want to get on the ship because she was having so much fun The beds and rooms are quite comfortable too and house keeping is great, I would stay here again.

The supervisor made my bday super special and gave me complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast it make me feel extra special and the bistro crew sang happy bday it was awesome Thank you so much to the all the staff ♥️

The name by Hilton is about the only thing that shows what Hilton is all about! Rust in the shower, the doors locked all the same, the room was not vacuumed! The person at the counter was great also the staff of the Starbucks, but that’s about it! The shuttle even worse, one came and some other person and me waited for over 40 minutes! The driver just said, that’s impossible… oh well… the four of us had to wait again, because there was not enough space for all the passengers!

New starbucks, breakfast at bistros 128 a tad crowded. Amazing servers, front office and transport/concierge. Guess their work culture is very much generosity. Greatly recommended.

Nice hotel, clean, friendly staff. It’s a good place to stay for a quick in and out trip. Not a good place if you want to do tourist stuff, it’s too far out of town.

The hotel is beautiful and clean. The restaurant could use more servers as we waited a long time for the waitress to come take our orders. And the Starbucks staff can be more friendlier abs smile. Other than that it was a great hotel. Definitely will be back.

Horrible concierge not friendly not very helpful, the pace pool area look like a WMCA pool noisy full of children out of control! OVERALL NOT A WARM OR COZY HOTEL TO REST N FOR THIER PRICE GIVES A WHOLE LOT TO WISH FOR! I will not recommend this place or ever go back to it AGAIN.

Incredibly noisy with pool full of children screaming. It echoes throughout the atrium. Staff tries hard but seem rushed and are not very professional. Room is big, but if it sounds like a cavernous daycare center, it's not very restful. Wish they could raise the level of excellence a bit. But, I guess you get what you pay for.

Lobby very nice … our room obviously bit not renovated, fire alarm hanging off the wall, mattress ripped and unbalanced, not dusted, bathroom ceiling cracked and plaster coming off… however stayed in the room since it was 10 pm and we were leaving early next morning and just needed sleep Room 501

No microwave in the rooms. Only one microwave at the lobby area for entire hotel. No refrigerator in rooms only upon request at fee of $20. Rooms are clean. AC works… free parking … plenty sitting area at lobby level. Starbucks. Restaurant available at lobby. 3rd level spacious. Beautiful place.

Didn't spend much time outside or in the gym/pool area, but the hotel itself is lovely. The rooms looked great. Very clean, pristine, and roomy. Complementary items were of quality. Drawbacks include having some trouble with the elevators, the high cost of items in the shop on the first floor, and lack of a mini-fridge in the room. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience. Would go back.

New hotel with a large parking area, located near the airport… rooms are well arranged. Bathrooms seem to be small… efficient staff. They have n indoor swimming pool, gym,. Also a laundry machines for guests — pay and use… proximity to airport and the facilities provided,,, to me it is value for money…

Stayed here for one night and the experience was very good. The parking lot at the time was under construction and it meant that I got to park my vehicle for free. Furthermore the bar is opened till midnight and has good selection of adult beverages for reasonable pricing. Lobby looks awesome with some nice views. It offers restaurant and Starbucks is right here for those who get tired of hotel coffee ☕.

Great service. We enjoyed the pool. The exercise room was also great after a long flight. People at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Cookies were a great extra too.

Our reservation was made for 2 rooms, they lost one of the reservations. So we had one room with one bed, we had requested two beds. Four people in 1 bed is not going to work. We are friends not family, sharing a room is not going to work. They were fully booked, they would not assist us in finding another room, in another Hilton or anywhere else. I could not log onto their Wi-Fi and I could not locate another hotel. We arrived from the airport around midnight, and we had another plane to catch at 7am the next day, not enough time to spend looking for a hotel without a vehicle. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff refused to help in any way. Not a fun experience.

I'm not sure about the location, because I was only there a few hours to sleep, but it was close to the airport and had been recently renovated. My room was clean and I liked the layout of the whole hotel. The updates looked good to me and I heard from coworkers who had stayed there before that they were done well.

Nice rooms and well built hotel. Pretty good just for sleep. Decorations were average, though the lobby was nice. I don't think I would pay full price for a room but it was good with a discount.

Excellent experience! Customer service is top notch. Flew in at 10am and they got us checked in by noon! Helped us with bags getting into the building from the shuttle. Shuttle was on time and the traffic in the area was horrible, so it being on time was actually surprise. Room was really clean, shower had good pressure and got really hit if you needed it too. Didn't eat dinner there, so I cannot give a good review on that. Did eat breakfast and it was ok, not great nor bad. In all honesty, the customer service made place. There was construction when we went, but we were warned WAY in advance of that and they look to be finally getting finished.

We have stayed here several times over the last year and it has been under continual renovation. The public areas are temporary. The swimming pool is empty. Breakfast is $20 if you don't get it free and it's pretty mediocre and served in a meeting room. The rooms are nice, but there is no HDMI input on the TV. They are clean and modern though with outlets conveniently located. The front desk staff has been friendly and helpful, but breakfast was woefully understaffed.

Clean Hotel and close to the airport.

DoubleTree Newark sold one of our hotel room because the credit card I used to reserve the room 3 months ago was compromised and I got a new replacement card so their pre auth (at 6pm before I arrived) failed and they cancel that reservation WITHOUT calling or emailing me to get a new card. What's worse they were also all booked/sold out so be we could not even get a replacement room and the 5 of us all squeezed into one room… So mad! They must have sold our room to some last min walk in at a higher profit!

Hotel is under serious construction and renovations and that was not disclosed when I called to book the room. Bathroom was in serious need of repair from the shower curtain to the tile and under the sink looked like a quarry. Very odd. To top it off, my drivers window was cracked after parking in their lot. Clearly an attempted break-in and I haven't been able to get a response from management about it after multiple attempts. Very disappointing experience and DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. 5/4/2018 UPDATE I finally attepted to get in contact with another Manager at the hotel and he promptly return my call and did his best to resolve the situation. While it was not an ideal stay at the hotel, I am happy that John took care of us and I am now updating my review from 2 star to 4 star and I would probably even stay here again. Also, the person that never return my calls was Jasmine. If she wasn't going to return my call, she should have at least pawned my call off onto someone else that could have helped me… like John T. Thanks John T!

The hotel is undergoing renovations, and it is not at its best right now. But that is not the reason for 2 stars. The staff does not seem to care about things that shouldn't be any different, renovations or not. We waited to get into a restaurant for breakfast for 15 minutes, and the line did not move. The hostess was on the phone that entire time. The breakfast is a buffet, and there were tables outside the breakfast area (plus tables for groups on the 3rd floor), so the space problem could have been easily solved. Went to get coffee, and a trash can was overflowing. When we arrived, our room reeked of smoke, so we had to stand in line at the reception (again) and ask for another room — front desk couldn't be reached by phone. Double Tree brand of Hilton is supposed to be a mid-range brand, but this hotel is certainly a budget level at best. I am a gold member of Hilton Honors, I travel frequently and never complain. This was not my best stay.

The premises is still under construction until April 30, but despite that, I enjoyed my stay here. My check-in experience was great as the employee was friendly and courteous. My room was nice and spacious. The bathroom was smaller than I expected and the floor tiling looked a little dated, but nothing really bad. My only gripe with the room is that the heating/cooling unit is loud. I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me much, but it might wake up those who are light sleepers. Room service was pretty good, but the entrées are pricey. The starters are more reasonable and are large enough to count as its own meal so I'd recommend those. The burgers aren't high in price either so those are good. All in all, great. When the construction finishes, I expect it will be quite beautiful.

The location is good but right now they are remodeling it.

Hotel has its best years behind it. For one night it is enough. Shower drain was so clogged that it took honestly several hours to run. Classic case of investment congestion. The lobby was after all refurbished during our stay.

There is not so much service, you sleep well, the cookies of courtesy are good.

Basic. Clean, well located for a "day use" if they are in connection.

The place is in remodeling. The rooms are somewhat deteriorated. But the attention is very pleasurable. And also afrocen free transportation to Newark Airport.

The staff was as accommodating as possible. Wonderful service. The hotel is under construction. It will look beautiful one day. As an airport hotel it is also quite expensive. There is even a charge for daily parking. The hotel restaurant had very good food. Unfortunately any place outside of the hotel was difficult to get to.

Stayed here for several nights on a trip. They were renovating, which is fine, but we weren't informed beforehand that the pool would be closed. The whole place seemed a little dirty and unkempt. Staff were friendly enough. Their breakfast selection could definitely be improved. No waffles, which is what I would usually eat for breakfast at a hotel. Bagels were stale. Once again, it just all seemed a bit dirty. Large tables are great for larger groups, but when its just a couple people, its fairly awkward to have to sit with strangers. A few smaller tables would be nice.

I must comment on the Restaurant Manager. She greeted our business group on our first night in the hotel. Then at the end our stay provided breakfasts to go for several of us that she knew were flying out early! If that doesn't make you want to visit just know despite construction the hotel is perfect. All staff were courteous. The fitness center is well-equipped. I will return in the future. Thank you!

Comfortable hotel conveniently located to visit downtown, the financial district, the World Trade Center or to access the ferries.
A little over 40 floors all the rooms are more or less worth, with their qualities and their faults. So the higher you are, the more amazing the view; On the other hand, the more time is wasted waiting for the elevator. There are three, but at rush hour, it's infernal.

One of the worst all around DoubleTree stays I've ever had, and I've had a lot. The site is under renovation which is great, I'm all for it! That's not why I hated it and wouldn't book here again. The bathroom was filthy, the shower drain was clogged and human hair floated all up into the tub during a shower. I heard every guest on the floor all night, paper walls, unusually bad. When I arrived I'd booked a king and was told they accidentally gave my room to someone else and had to downgrade me (that wasn't a problem really but added to the negativity of the experience). What else… They were having open bar when I got there and while it was busy, the bartenders were flat out unaccessible, I gave up after a couple minutes of trying to hail one. Icing on the cake is I complained to Hilton rather then write a negative review, they never responded. As a diamond member with a few hundred stays that's pretty disappointing.

Getting to this place was weird. The off ramp from the interstate was tricky and it looked like we were heading to a dead end alley to get murdered. However, we finally found the hotel even though the main entrance had no lights or indication of where to enter (it's under construction and it was dark). The check in was quick and we paid for parking spot I took the car to their parking lot that is pretty well let. Happy with that! Our room was perfect and actually had outlets near the bed (this is helpful and oddly rare in hotels I frequent). It was clean and seemed well kept. We took a shuttle from the hotel to the airport. They leave every 15 minutes 24 hours/day, so that was super convenient. If you're looking for a place to stay, park your car, then fly somewhere for a trip, I would recommend it. Just the difference in PARKING versus parking at the airport paid for more than half of our room cost. It's a win win.

Had a great stay. Amazing food at the hotel restaurant, in my opinion price reasonable for quality and size. Gorgeous skyline view. And being a Hilton Honors member great deal. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the pool is under renovations and we we're not aware of that. I have a 12 yr old who looks forward to swimming whenever she can. But honestly other than that great from check in to check out a dance everything in between. Would stay again.

We had to stay at this hotel due to a snow storm. The team at the front desk was extremely welcoming. I had laryngitis and was treated very well by the staff at breakfast and dinner, who showed concern for my health. We only stayed two nights but will definitely return. If I could rate this hotel a ten, I would. We had a FANTASTIC stay and recommend it!

Currently the hotel is undergoing some major renovations. I can’t wait to come back and see all the improvements with this hotel. My room was great. Very clean and comfortable with great lighting. Lots of space to move around in my room. The bar was very clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was above average. Very hot and fresh both days I ate there. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was amazing. When we checked in everyone hot a bottle of water and a warm cookie. The hotel also has two restaurants in side which have great service and amazing food.

Great hotel, was very close to the newark airport making it easy for guests to find a place to stay. I was given great service by the front counter. Staff was always willing to help and rooms were kept clean and were spacious. The hotel has a great gym which is also kept clean. Room was also cheap.

We were accommodated in this hotel last night by NCL after our cruise ship could not return us from Caribbean to NY due to engine issue. There were 180 people who arrived unhappy after being disembarked in Barbados and chartered to Newark. After a very long and frustrating day the staff here was very welcoming, organized and supportive. The hotel had set up a conference room for our meals which were generous. The room we had was clean and roomy. The hotel is under renovation but functioning generally well. Our room was a bit chilly and others too hot but this was due to the remodelling. We would stay here again.

The hotel is currently going through renovations. Pool and Executive Lounge are not available. We had breakfast buffet as a Hilton Diamond in the restaurant near the lobby. The free shuttle to Newark Liberty airport makes it convenient for late or early flights. Staff was friendly and helpful at every turn. We will stay again.

A week later and my card is still being held for $100.00 after I paid the room in full, no one today could help me with this, stating that its "normal" to hold the card for a week after a stay? Unbelievable. Poor solution solving at this hotel. Will not be staying here again, so my money after paying in full can be held. Wonder if I will ever see the money again! And the room was standard at best for the price we paid for it!

Dirty hotel and dangerous vans. We arrived after midnight and the bar/restaurant was already closed. Room service stops at 11:00pm BEFORE the kitchen closes. Most hotels have a limited kitchen/room service until 1 or 2 am or even 24 hours. Elevators were dirty with broken buttons and the security key card system was inoperative. Hallway carpets were dirty with trash and leftover food sitting outside the rooms. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable until we found ANTS in the sheets, night table, and near the TV. Both hotel vans had broken seat belts and the interior door handle didn't work on the sliding door. So if there was an accident you had no safety belts and you could NOT get out of the van from the inside (major DOT violations). This property is very isolated with very little food choices and situated next to a NJ State prison! Although the front desk staff and drivers were very nice I will not be returning to this hotel in the future.

Hotel is clean and service was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was kind of small and there is no where to put on makeup or style hair outside the bathroom. The lighting in the room is not good enough for that and there are no outlets near the mirror in the room. The bed was very comfortable and there are plenty of outlets near each side of the bed. Breakfast was fine. Ample but nothing special. As always, the DoubleTree cookies are a treat.

Quiet, comfortable stay with mini fridge and microwave in room. No restaurant in hotel but many places deliver. They need to upgrade their luggage carts, 1st had a flat, 2nd didn't roll much better. The pullout bed couldn't pull out all the way because it's positioned across from the bed and there isn't enough room.

Nice facility. Kids enjoyed the warm indoor pool. Looks like they had a hot tub at one point, but it is a filled in planter box now. Continental breakfast was pretty good, I don't know if I will would have paid $16 as it is listed, but it was included in our stay. Our room was clean but had a few maintenance issues that we flagged.

Great hotel, nice indoor pool. Bar had limited selection and food was average at best though. Location was terrific as we took Ferry into NYC. Only 15-20 minute drive to get Ferry.

Worse Experience. Worse Management. Never Will Stay Here Again. Me and my family stayed at this hotel while attending a wedding. While we were gone our room was broken into and a lot of jewelry was taken from our room. We did not notice the missing jewelry till next day. When we did we spoke to the managers and they tried to delay the whole matter as much as they could. They told us if we call the cops it will never be solved. They wont even come etc. They stalled us for good 3 hours/ But I insisted and called the police. They came in a very professional manner but even they were surprised that a maid was cleaning the room at that time. Even though it was a crime scene. Management said it was a mistake that "all room was wiped cleaned of finger prints". And I forgot to mention their were no lock box present in the room. And there was no indication that what we should do with our valuables. They went through the lock records and told us there is a entry in our absence in our room using the master key for that floor. And it was not room service or cleaning service timings. And also they have an " idea" who did it. We waited for one day extra there wasting our time and money. But that was it. No answer or Call back from police too. We went back to Toronto thinking we will get a call or a answer back. But none of our Calls were answered or emails responded. When we went to Jersey again in a month the manager was again shady and trying to stall us.

Hotel is well used. Needs renovation the part that got me they cleaned the room but never gave us any new towels or soap. Called 4 times and 5.5 hours after they arrived. I was told a manager will call us. Not holding my breath.

We started out it a beautiful room. Nice view. Looked just remodeled. Problem is we needed two beds so we had to switch rooms. The next room was a huge let down after the first. Although the room is clean it was a desperate need of an update. We went to the Hotel restaurant for dinner and the service was terrible. It took over an hour and a half to get a couple hamburgers and another 30 minutes to get a piece of pie for dessert. When they ask us how his day was they really didn't care. The air conditioning unit in the room also did not work properly and we struggled each time we use the door to the room to even get it open.

Hotel was ok. Had a customer service issue that was resolved in the beginning by David. Pool area was without towels @ some point. Hour and an half later we left still no towels. Rooms were renovated but Hilton should request a discount from the contractors. Air conditioning didn't seem to work well in the room. When leaving to load up my family and vehicle I pulled to the front out of way of customers and was yelled at from 200ft away not to park there. I tried to simply explain we we're loading and leaving. The bellhop yelled over me instead of coming over to assist, tell me in a polite manner to move or to just realize we we're loading. Extended my stay but found a extended stay that was cheaper and nicer than DoubleTree. I will never stay @ this location again.

I absolutely loved it. One of the only disadvantage is that you can only check in at noon, but I got to the hotel at 5 AM. Luckily, I was at an event, and a friend allowed me to stay in his room for until noon. The front desk employees are very nice, and always give me a smile when I ask for a cookie. The cookies are always delicious and warm. Another disadvantage is that when I always call Careline for more towels or soap, they tell me to stop calling so much. Also, it's odd how the pool is right in the lobby, and in front of rooms, so everyone can see you half-naked. The outside area is nice and small, and my room was amazing. The TV channels were entertaining, both for kids and adults, beds were very comfortable, showers and toilets were working great, food was divine. It's everything a hotel needs.

I woke up the next morning tired and groggy because of all the noise to find the toilet was leaking all over the floor. So I jumped in the shower only to find after I turned my shower off I was still getting rained on. Confused, I looked up to find the ceiling above me was leaking through into my shower. I believe I was getting someone else's shower water on me, disgusting. Don't like this hotel.

Horrible, horrible experience at my event on April 29th. There were several customer service issues and violations during my event of which I will not outline here since I am pursuing a course of action. No one at the location has even responded to my emails including the owner/manager or whatever his title is. All I can say is GO ELSEWHERE. Horrible, horrible experience and judging from the other reviews my complaints are valid. There is a Hilton in the area. A Marriott. Use those hotels. Don't use this one! Horrible, horrible experience.

I am staying here right now. And the service is really horrible. The first night, the ceiling was leaking water In the middle might and I find out in the morning. When I come down to front desk to tell them the problem, the first question they asked was, "did you report it to front desk? " but not trying to help customer first. The worst thing is coming after the room switch. When we back to hotel room tonight we find out that our personal belong, such as toothbrush, toothpaste, bread had been take away. I come to front desk to tell them they we're not try to help to solve such simple problem, In stead, they said, quote: "your room is clean and our staff have no any reason to going to the room you stay"; "we will talk to our clean staff to find out what happened". I told them it is really simple and you can check the security camera and find out who enter the room, they said, quote: "the hotel do not have security camera ". What is going on here, don't you think I am not suffering enough, first the ceiling water leaking and I have to move to the new room; second, my personal belong lost when I out of the room!. And need to wait your investigation? Why you make such simple problem so complicated? Can we trust the hotel when we stay without worry our personal belongings? How safe when you stay this hotel? Since they don't have security camera, that may means if anything happens to you, they don't have idea… (Note: It should be zero star,.

The location is very convenient to the airport and there are shuttles every 15 minutes. The lobby was very nice. The rooms were good but not as nice as most Hiltons I have stayed at. Overall satisfied with my stay.

The hotel looks nice, but the front desk people can have a bit of an attitude. I got my room key and went up to the room, but the key didn't work. So I had to take my stuff back down to the front desk and there was one guy who wasn't helping anyone. I went up to him and asked to have him rerun my card. He said I would have to go to the end of the counter and wait so he could finish counting his money. He then reluctantly came over and demanded my card to rerun it. He slowly changed his attitude to a more nicer and apologized for the inconvenience many times. The restaurant is ok, but the service is kind of slow. We asked for boxes and our checks and the waiter went and seated and then served two other tables before we just stared at him and he finally brought our stuff over.

I'm staying here right now and I can hear everything through the paper thin walls. A foreign language speaking family and their kid crying. It feels like they are in the same room as me and I barely want to use the toilet. The hotel looks grand but then you have to buy gift cards rather than have calls charged to your room for calls, the coffee in the common area is always running out or cold, on the SECOND day I'm told I can get a breakfast meal made fresh instead of just the buffet… Not impressed. UPDATE: Apparently it's really confusing for the staff when you lose you breakfast voucher. I told them my room number and they looked at like I was trying to steal something. Perhaps they should be able to look it up on the computer more easily?

Located in a out of town setting this place have everything you need and more nice pool nice lobby you can sit admiring the water for hours. The only con is the sneaky parking fee.

My room smells very smoky and stinky. One of the phones does not work. When I called the CareLine from the other phone, it rang nearly 30 times before the person answered. When she answered, she had either been asleep, or is very very tired. The reason I called the CareLine is because the heat in my room is not working. Perhaps this isn't a big deal, but also the clock in the room is about 5 hours off, which is kind of distracting. All this to say, if it were ONE of these things, then no big deal. But, a stinky/smoky-smelling room, a non-working phone, a "CareLine" that is asleep, and a broken heater. Is this a Motel 6 or a Doubletree?

Good size rooms with confortable beds. Reliable service to and from the airport. Good coffee in the room. What more could you ask for on a short stay beteeen flights at EWR.

Well I am German and my English is limited. I had problems to find a smart and not to expensive way from the hotel to Hackensack University. The front desk helped me to install the UberApp, gave me some training units and additional explanations and helped me to order my first Uber car and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much in receiving a new dimension of American hotel hospitality and individual service — orientation you even will not get in hotels of higher segments. The room was awesome. Very clean and very nice. The staff was very accommodating and very supportive of me being in the military which I greatly appreciate it. They were able to provide me with the room that I wanted.

Only stayed for one night to catch a layover, but what I did experience in that short time was very pleasing. The shuttle was quick, the people where nice, and the rooms were clean. The only down side I could see was the main lobby was an open concept and the swimming pool was a part right there. While that looked nice and probably sounded good on paper it had a flaw. All the kids screaming and jumpng and swimming could be heard from far off. Even being on a high floor if you had a room that the window opened into the lobby you could hear kids.

Stayed there for 10 days the first time, and now I am again accomodated there. The single downsides are that the bus is not going to Newark Penn Station, but you can take the bus, which is a thumbs down. Second thing is that the hotel is placed in the middle of nowhere, and you don't have anything to do around there if you don't have a car. Cigarettes are overpriced in the hotel, seriously, 13$ for a pack of Newports, when you pay 7-8$ at QuickCheck? The room was always clean, had everything that I needed, the staff was always nice to me, having short conversations, and even got a ride to Penn Station from one of them after she has finished her shift. They also clarified the money transfer that my company had to do and that's all my 2 cents on it. The location could of been better.

As a frequent traveler I have never stayed at a more unorganized hotel. One of the front desk staff would not even allow me to check in 15 minutes before the "check in time" — I'm a diamond member… Guess that doesn't mean anything… Oh, and the restaurant, the ONLY restaurant REMOTELY close was closed for the week — Why? No one knows. If I could rate a negative score, they certainly would receive it! P. S. If you think the shuttle is coming, just keep on waiting. As a matter of fact the shuttle finally came but it was already full and I was told after my 45 minute wait the next one is coming in 15 minutes but it might be full too… One more thing… There is a PRISON right down the road from this property! Thanks a bunch Doubletree!

So I travel a lot for work. I've spent extended stays in several cities throughout the US. And this is by far the worse hotel I've stayed in. Luckily my employer is paying it. But they charge nearly $15 a day on parking, and their rooms are pretty low quality. The part I hate the most is the location, Newark sucks to start with, but you can't literally walk anywhere. To get a bite to eat at another restaurant, you have to go through the ghetto and hope you don't get food poisoning. And if you try to eat the hotel's restaurants be prepared. The food quality is great! But the prices are ridiculous. $4.50 for orange juice in the morning… $7 for a beer in the evening. And $13 for 2 tiny egg rolls. Oh and the breakfast, it's $16 for the standard continental buffet… that's typically free in most hotels. And it's another $18 if you want the entire breakfast line. I highly recommend not staying at this hotel. The staff at the hotel are great, but who cares when you have to pay $4.50 for orange juice.

There must be two somewhat dated Doubletree hotels at EWR — the one everyone is complaining about and the one I stayed at last night, which was quiet, very clean, comfortable and even had a few really nice touches you don't find in many other hotels, like toothpaste in the bathroom. The world has gone crazy. This hotel is perfectly fine — or at least the Hilton Honors floors are.

Nothing. Truly, I have stayed with the Hilton chain in 12 cities, and the doubletree branch in 6. This is by far, the worst location of any, hotel group I've been at. The counter staff, was removed from anything closely resembling customer service, HHonors, lineup, meant you still waited for the general lineup. No problem. Cold cookie in hand, wrong room number from electronic checkin, and no directions to room… We began our search. Rule 1. Don't complain. Room was moldy, musty smelling and not our room at checkin. When we asked to be moved, because of the damp wet smell; we were given the room next door, which had no phone; hence convenient way to prevent any further calls, including breakfast. I will absolutely recommend to the convention group I was with to seek other accommodations in the future. I survived the night, in a relatively dated, but comfortable room; but not without stress and feeling like I was punished. I recommend hotel stays at any J. W. Marriot hotel, because simply every effort and pleasant staff have yet to disappoint, on three continents. Just my two cents. You can do better Hilton. HHonors member.

Rooms were comfortable. Would have liked to have squat racks and barbells but the gym is okay enough.

On your website, it states that “Our hospitality starts with a warm chocolate chip cookie. ” Let me just say that my cookie was not at all warm but instead cold and hard. When I first checked in on Friday, the front desk accommodated me in the wrong room. I clearly asked for an accessible room and of course had to haul all of my belongings back down to the front desk and explain to the front desk manager of my problem. Now after a long day of traveling, this was not the warm welcome I was expecting. Of course the manager apologized and finally put me in the right room. Next, what I have a complaint about is the paper thin walls. Let me emphasize that nobody wants to wake up to hear someone snoring or having intercourse in the other room. The situation was VERY uncomfortable for me. The next morning, I paid for my parking at the front desk, yet the parking attendant at the gate was convinced that I didn’t pay for my ticket because I didn’t have a receipt. I was unaware that the front desk was supposed to give me a receipt because I thought it was a validation system. The parking attendant was very rude and pointed to me like I WAS A DOG when he finally decided to let me out. Mind you, I was on my way to my convention and the whole situation unnerved me the rest of the morning. Finally on Sunday morning around 7:30 I noticed that the toilet was leaking. I was so disgusted and fed up that I just decided to leave right then and there and check out.

Missleading and unfortunate that their "local area transportation" doesn't include Newark Penn Station, when its the same distance as the airport.

You pay $200+ per night and for that you don't get breakfast, parking or Wifi! I hated the fact that our window was opening into lobby! So for that price you don't even get fresh air.

Dirtiest hotel I have ever been to. Dirty carpet, dity rooms. Wish I could give them ZERO STAR.

Bad experience as air conditioner was not working properly in summer. Even after complaining few times it was not rectified. Place otherwise is good but questionable service.

Inside is nice and the employees at the front desk are nice. Needs a new bus, it's ridiculous that they drive it around with no working AC. Also, they obviously don't take care of their hotel. I stayed here 3 weeks ago and the windows were so dirty, you can barely see out of them when the sun is shining.

Like what most other mentioned already. They charge you $18 for parking, plus tax. Yes, I cant believe they charge tax for parking. Not even the public city parking lot charges you tax. I checked in at midnight and checked out next day at 9am, I tried to reason with the front desk on parking price and his response, "everyone has to pay for parking". I think I would feel better if they just raise the room price by $20 and offer free parking. Nothing else stands out about this hotel. My recommendation is look for a different hotel.

Let me start by saying that I’ve never actually taken the time to write a negative hotel review. I generally only take the time to write good reviews. As a business traveler I travel every week and stay at least 1 to 2 hotels weekly. I have very low expectations about hotels because frankly I’m not there for pleasure. However, I have to take the time to write this review. Sincerely, this property is among the worst I have ever seen. To start out, the free hotel shuttle never showed up at the airport so I had to pay for a $20 cab ride. When I called the property asking when to expect the shuttle the front desk was completely unhelpful. Nonetheless, I’ve experienced this many times before so for me, no big deal. I get to the hotel and it’s a really bad looking property. Still no big deal, I see so many bad looking hotels. I get inside and the front desk people are busy talking to each other while a line is forming. Finally, I get to the front and let them know about the shuttle issue. The front desk does not care and totally dismisses the issue. Again, I see tons of bad front desks, still not bad review worthy — just annoying. I get to the room and literally there a stain on the rug that looks like a blood stain. The carpet is literally sticking to my shoes. Next, I pull the cover off the bed and there sheets look old and tattered. The sink has hairs over it and the tub won’t empty. The toilet is dirty. Literally, this hotel is among the worst I have seen.

I did not like it at all! First off when I checked in. I didn't receive a cookie and then they tell me they don't allow microwave in the room nor refrigerators. LIKE ARE YOU SERIOUS? Then to top it off. You have TO PAY for parking. $18/day. Never staying again. At all. But on a positive note. It smells AMAZING when you first walk in. Like warm vanilla BUT don't get hype. Still sucked.

We could not thank these guys (n gal`s) enough, from start to finish a 5 star experience. Helpful and understanding. We were unable to travel (snow) one of the few hotels with rooms, they did not over charge us, let us stay till later the next day as the flight was not until 4pm AND YOU GET A HOT COOKIE. Thank you :0).
