We had a lovely corner room, super spacious and of course exceptionally clean. The bathroom was a nice size and great toiletries. The only thing I didn’t particularly care for, and seems like an odd thing in general, is that the free cookies have walnuts in them. With the prevalence of nut allergies, you would think they would be a bit more basic. But if you are looking for something fairly close to the Newport Station, it’s a great spot.

One stop on the PATH to World Trade Center and about half the price of NY accommodation! Very clean and walking distance to metro station. So convenient but be careful of maintenance or you have to go through Hoboken. Great if you don't need a car. Staff was nice and rooms were clean. Full kitchen.

Pet friendly! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Front desk Lady’s were extremely proactive and stayed with the mindset I was traveling alone. Which I appreciate greatly, I felt secure. The check in was swift as she stayed mindful my pet was in the car waiting, a 4 yo Sharpei, named Arthur. Our one night stay was delightful, we both had plenty of room. I will agree the parking lot needed some cleaning (shards of glass & rocks everywhere) and the area where the pets use the potty is nice. However the Train being so Close to the potty area was very stressful on him; If your pets not use to the City sounds. PS, Enterprise employees need to watch out where there walking, and how to lock the door behind themselves. I had access several times to the other entrance, without a key. I’m sure this won’t happen again. For that minor set back, I would definitely stay Again, Thanks again.

Have stayed here a few times for work, it is nice and close to the river, which is close to the Path as well as the Ferry. One of the lower priced hotels around. Only reason for the 4 star is because the "New York City View" is not what you think you'll get. My photo shows the view, which you have to look out of the window to the right to see it.

We've stayed here twice, and I'm going a third time… All within three months. I love it here because of the location, the view of the NYC skyline, the kitchen area that includes flatware, dinnerware, and drinking glasses… The rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly and welcoming. Quick anecdote: we stepped out to walk over to the mall, and when we came back, the housekeeper was already in the room cleaning out the fridge (despite the checkout time still an hour away and we hadn't checked out). As we checked out, we mentioned this to the front desk, and the person immediately comped us the parking ($25). I love that kind of commitment.

Front desk staff were wonderful. Place was good for a family trip to NYC. Comfortable large and well equipped rooms. Quite clean.

Surprisingly convenient location while traveling for work. Light rail is literally next to the hotel, and it has a kitchen in every room. All the basics for a pleasant stay. No complaints at all.

Stayed here long time back. This hotel is located in Newport area of Jersey City. It is located at a walk able distance from Newport PATH station (which can be used if you want to commute to NYC). Hotel is well maintained. There is a riverfront on the backside.

It's not a luxury hotel, but it served the purpose. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.

I stayed here for work. I normally stay at 5 star hotels. Being objective the price, staff, facility, and location are all good. Close proximity to the PATH and mall. I got to the hotel early at 7 am after landing at JFK and company HR did not inform the hotel of my early arrival, but the kind staff asked me to wait and whilst they made up the room. Got the room after 15 mins. Facilities for the price was good, the room a suite with full bathroom, kitchen, living and separate bedroom. Business centre had free printing capability. Boom gated parking for a fee of $10 per day (? ) was reasonable.

Great place to stay just outside the city. All suites, nice kitchen area, pull out sofa. Boardwalk around the river. Close to the PATH train that takes you to MSG/Penn Station.

I am normally a HUGE fan of Candlewood Suites. I will say the staff was fantastic (particularly Miss Tonya). The room was perfect. The only thing that tarnished my stay is that we did not have water for a full day. Since we were having a prep meeting for six hours with six people, and had lunch brought in… the lack of restrooms was an big issue. We were told throughout the day the water would be back on in "20 minutes or so"… it was off for more than 9 hours. Very unpleasant experienc, although the staff tried very hard to be nice about it.

Friendly staff, clean, with a home feel. Great amenities, but $25 for parking is a bit much. I realize a lot of hotels are doing this and many will say the cost offsets the security staff and maintenance of the equipment. I understand. All in all I enjoyed my stay at Candlewood Suites.

Room was clean an a good size for economy. Didn't like that I had to wait an hour after check in for my room to be ready. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

For our various visit in NYC and within 25 km to the west in NJ the apartments and parking availability makes Candlewood a great place. We have stayed here 5 times over 3 years and will come again. We recommend the top floor east apartment facing Hudson river.

I stay here when in NY for work. The rooms are always clean and have their own kitchen area which I like. It’s easy to get to from Manhattan by Path or ferry at Paulus Hook. It’s definitely pretty basic accommodation and you can tell as soon as you enter the reception area, nothing fancy here if people are used to higher end hotels.

They are undergoing flooring renovations on first floor (when we stayed the week of Oct 9th — 13th). The hotel shut off water from 9 am — 6 pm on the Tuesday, which didn't affect our stay, as we were sightseeing most of the day and the rate was reduced. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and small kitchenette was very useful for eating in the room.

Receptionist on the 6th Oct was not good. Water was not getting heated up in the room and the response on complaint was that nobody else was complaining… Wow… I checked in again on the 10th and that time both reception and room was good. Best thing is the laundry and free coffee throughout the day.

Parking is bad in area and parking fee charged at this site. Although I paid parking fee parking area full and staff refunded fee and let me park complimentary in front. Breakfast is not served at this location but a convenience shop with limited entries are available. Overall comfortable rooms and accommodating staff. Nice stay.

Great location. Decent price. Only downside is the largest bed feels like a double.

Modern and nicely decorated rooms, comfortable and isolated from the outer street noise. Laundry is downstairs. Easy commute to the city.

A nice hotel to stay if you are looking to cook your food as it has a nice kitchen. It is located at the perfect spot in the city which gets you closer to train, mall and waterfront. You have all the amenities you would wish for including parking if you stay at Candlewood Suites and lots of complimentary stuff. For a professional, you get to print and scan your documents. What else can you wish for.

No pool or hot tub, but they do offer free washing of clothes to guest, and there is a small store in there. The rooms have ac, fridge, stove top, and microwave. This hotel is better if you stay for 2 to 3 weeks at least.

A very nice place that is comfortable and cozy and as an added bonus actually allows pets. We have a very anxious dog and she barks a lot, but we didn't get any complaints thankfully. It is conveniently located literally right next door to the light rail system and there are a few restaurants in the direct vicinity. The area is up and coming and trendy, but very nice and relaxing. Easy access to ferry to NYC and PATH trains to NYC.

This hotel offers a "low cost" alternative to much more expensive Manhattan Hotels. I put low cost in quotes, as I still paid well over $125 / night. The property is just a short walk from either Newport or Exchange Place PATH Stations it can be a great starting point into your vacation. On weekends be ready to wait quite a bit for PATH trains. The rooms have a great size and come with a "fully equipped" kitchenette, allowing you to cook your own meals, if you are so inclined. There's a ShopRite in walking distance to get supplies. My room was well maintained and I found the hotel a decent value for money proposition and have nothing to complain about. One thing to be aware of: Candlewood Suites do not provide daily housekeeping service. So if that was important to you, this might not be the hotel for you. But let's face it, it is quite easy to clean up behind oneself ;) Another "bonus", you get really lovely views of Manhattan and if you want to visit a "mall" Newport Center is just outside the PATH station.

We liked our stay here. Suites are spacious and clean. Quick and easy access to downtown Manhattan through the path station (5 minute walk from the hotel). In my opinion there were no noticeable flaws to mention. Price/quality point is spot on. If you want to avoid paying 2 or 3 times the price for a room in Manhattan, this is your best option.

Great Kitchen Room.

The gym is small, but the rooms are nice and some of them have a chilling view of manhattan. The candlewood cupboard was great for grabing small snacks and it's based on the honor system which I would say is something I've never seen any hotel do. All around was a positive experience.

Good family atmosphere. A little carete but ultimately a quiet and pleasant place. New Jersey has nothing to do with Manhattan (in a good way)

Location was great — very close to the water. Service was great, and accommodations were excellent. "Frills" for the ladies may not have been enough though — they had two-in-one shampoo instead of separate shampoo and conditioner. Overall it seemed modern and fairly luxurious. Not sure about price because it was paid for by my college.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, gorgeous rooms. Gym was nice, great location. My biggest issue was the bed, it was too soft and made it hard to sleep. Also, the air conditioning didn't work at a reasonable speed (It took 6 hours to cool the room 5 degrees). Great hotel, albeit a little overpriced.

Room was in great condition, very spacious, and very clean! Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Jersey City!

Great location and well kept hotel. Staff are helpful and the short walk to the harbour side and mall and shops close by really helps. Not to mention most of the business district is walkable so great if you here for work.

Fantastic option in Jersey City. The rooms have been recently updated and are will designed. The staff is very friendly and available for any needs. The path train is only a couple blocks away to the best locations in NYC. Jersey City has lots of great restaurants within a 15 minute walk.

So far, mid trip we have been very pleased with the cleanliness of this hotel. The staff take the time to listen to your questions and try to provide good answers. We still have couple of nights left. But so far, so good.

If you don't mind coming to New York, did not mind walking a short distance, the hotel is very good. Hotel in New York at the same price, you can find a bedroom, kitchen, living room and large bathroom, please? We had a busy day outside, return to the quiet, easy to clean, Jersey and watch TV and surf the Internet, wood suites have a relaxing evening in a candle.

The location was actually very nice, very close to the path station heading south, and the light rail heading northish. There is a nice walk along the pier with a great view of the city, but not from the room. You can see a small section of nyc but nothing to write home about. It might be of note saying that I was on the top floor. The rooms were very nice and quite well furnished with 2 stovetop "burners", a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer with icemaker, tv, and plenty of spaces to connect to the LAN on the nice desk area. There was plenty of shelving space in the main area as well as the bathroom. The service was very nice, amenities included a borrow a board game or blender cabinet in the lobby which was a very nice addition, a nicely equipped gym area with a handful of treadmills a cable machine and stepper machines. There was a "cupboard" store with a nice assortment of items, however they were very much overpriced considering a shop rite or equivalent supermarket a short walk away. I signed up for price watch after booking the room, and the price went down the day before I arrived, which disappointed me considering the almost $180/night price but in summation, I think it was money well spent considering the proximity to the city and other nearby option, however there may be better prices. Tl:dr nice place for the money, a better view would have sealed the deal as an absolutely must go place.

Those is the simple hotel with apartment aimed for long-staying. Each number have condition, freezer, microwave oven. In building you can find small store, athletic gym, and laundry. All except store is free.

Excellent location, very close to Jersey Shore line. All rooms are with standard kitchenette with dual hot plate and microwave. Staff at this hotel is extremely helpful. Added features include complimentary laundry and gym. Excellent for long staying guest like me. Parking is well spaced out. There is a car rental mini office within the hotel which is great! Shopping for groceries — couple of options including shop rite which is within walking distance. Only challenge is with the Wi-Fi, it is very very slow.

Stayed here on a Thursday night to go to the Whiskey Festival at Taphaus which is within walking distance, on the waterfront and fantastic! The property outside the hotel is well kept, lobby leaves nothing to be desired. Though front desk was helpful and quick check in. Parking was $10/night, didn't mind that since you need a card key to get in and out of the lot. Best part was the suite. It was like a modern 1 bedroom apartment. My boyfriend and I really liked it. The location was great too. Looking forward to going back and exploring the area. This was not the Jersey City I experienced 8-10 years ago. Much better.

I'll echo some of the other sentiments here regarding the sales department and John in particular. He offered nothing in the way of customer support or service and did not deliver on any of the things that he said he would. When I pointed out a discrepancy in the advertised price of a room and the price he quoted me, he said that he would not honor the advertised price and 'would pass' on our business. If someone needs to constantly mention "I'm the top dog" in a conversation there are obviously bigger issues at play. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the service and especially since I'm a loyal IHG customer having stayed in their hotels all over the world.

This review is for John in sales — his Terrible, nasty attitude. I called asking about a room block for my wedding that I am holding in a nearby venue. John, and Candlewood Suites, as a fellow sales professional I know, as would any customer, when you are in sales, you do NOT speak to a customer the way I was spoken to. If I have questions, please answer them. Do not degrade me or tell me "there is no point in doing a room block", etc. I am SHOCKED at how I was just treated. I travel for business and pleasure regularly. They have just lost a frequent customer. I will not stand for such disrespect.

We got a free upgrade to a suite for some reason and it was very nice. Only real complaint was the hot water was not consistently hot. Also would have to echo other comments about the front desk staff not being excessively friendly. But good value and close to the train.

Other than the proximity to two PATH stations there is nothing good about this hotel. Very unfriendly and rude staff. I had a very tough time getting back my bag which I had left behind at the room when I checked-out. With absolutely minimum effort to listen to or help, they blindly checked the log book and adamantly replied that there was no lost bag. Luckily I was certain that I had left the laptop in the room and was able to literally push the housekeeping to check the room and retrieve the bag.

Great place, great people, great access to most important places all the area is beautiful and safe at all hours so it a pleasure to walk around just one block away from water. Subway and light train stations are close you can go by walking. Free coffee 24 /7 high speed wire internet.

The location is just fantastic, near to train station, facing the Manhattan skyline and price rate is reasonable.

I can't say enough about this place! It is just a short hop to manhattan with two PATH stations within walking distance (about 0.4miles). The price was much better than anything in NY and we enjoying looking at the skyline views as we walked back every night. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the refrigerator. They even have a nice little gym downstairs.

Stayed here during the trip to NY. Its closely connected by the PATH station to NY so that was good. The not so good part was that the Wi-Fi reception in our room was not upto the mark. By and far very reasonable deal, comfortable stay and warm people.

This place surprised me a lot. I was just looking for a affordable place to stay last minuet. The room was very affordable and it was wonderful. There was a kitchenette a bedroom and a living room. The bed a was a little firm for me but overall the bedroom was very nice, with its own TV. The living room had a pullout couch which was comfortable for a pullout. And the PATH was only a five min walk way. I highly recommend this place if you want to spend a weekend in the city and are on a budget.
