An old-school motel. Nothing fancy — they still use keys! It's clean enough and it's on the beach, nothing more.

Rooms were clean. Staff was very accommodating. Close to beach, dining and shopping.

The people who own this place and those who work there are so helpful and friendly! It's not advertised but they offer a continental breakfast each morning. The rooms are not fancy but they are clean, the bed was comfy, and the ocean view was therapeutic. I was there right before Memorial Day, so it was not overly busy. I don't know how it is in the summer months.

Clean, spacious room. Friendly staff! Within walking distance of tons of restaurants, shops and activities. Just a few short blocks from the Washington St. Mall. We did minimal driving on this trip, since there is so much nearby! All rooms have an ocean view, to some level. Our room was in the breezeway which was fine… a little more private and roomier. All rooms have a pair of rocking chairs and small table, for enjoying the view. Tile floors in the rooms. Toilet/tub area was a little tight. Nice big flat-panel TV, ceiling fan plus AC, mini fridge. Staff was super friendly. A nice gentleman took our bags to our room at checkin, and got them to the car when we were checking out. I would love to stay here again!

Its alright. No elevator. Simple breakfast. Mosquitos were bad when we were there. Very clean and housekeeping did a great job.

Fantastic hotel. Very charming. The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to say hello. The rooms were super clean and very roomy. I will return for our annual trip and this is where will will stay A++

When I made my reservation a week ago, I was assured that I would have a 3rd floor room at the best rate. Today I just checked in and the rate is currently advertised as $280 per night but I am still being charged $350 per night. On top of that, they have downgraded me from a 3rd floor room to a second floor room with the following excuse "We needed to accommodate a client staying for 5 days and we don't guarantee any rooms for stays less than 5 days. " This is a disrespect and a shameful way to treat clients. I am appalled.

Lovely, clean, facility. Quite accommodating and great for families. Staff was friendly and helpful. Fabulous location near shopping, restaurants, bike rental, arcade. Yet, quiet. Beachfront with a pool that is also very clean. Rooms have been updated with new tile floor. Complimentary breakfast is a plus. Very enjoyable.

Only stayed they for about an hour but it was very pleasant rooms were set up nice.

The location is great! It is across the street from the beach and a few blocks away from the shops and restaurants. The rooms have a great view of ocean but may need to be updated. There is no elevator which may be a problem for some. My only negative are the ac units. They are very, very loud. They should probably change to central or the duct less mini split units. To be fair many of the hotels have the same loud units. They also have a nice pool and kiddie pool.

Don't understand the negative reviews at all. Loved it here. Very clean and good staff. Private balconies with nice view of the beach. Close to everything.

The location is wonderful. You get direct access to the beach, a pool (which also features a kiddie pool) and a wonderful shopping district a few blocks away. The hotel is small and is structured like a motel (parking lot directly in front of the rooms) however it has the cleanliness and quality of a 4 star hotel. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay.

Good place to stay if you're looking for a cheap plain room to stay. You won't get the "cape may experience" staying here since it isn't like some of the other hotels in the area which are much older but the rooms are clean and it has a good location on Beach Ave.

Have been going to Avondale by the Sea for 25 plus years. Beautiful Inn with a superb beach front location. Excellence in the rooms, they are always immaculately cleaned. The inn offers a nice early morning continental breakfast. Very friendly and courteous staff who provide very personable hospitality and are always on hand and ready to help with any questions you might have.
