Reviews of Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa 4*
Beautiful resort, very clean and comfortable. Please add vegan options to the dining menu. Dining staff were not helpful and we were told the chef could not help. Otherwise, everything else and other staff were wonderful.
Absolutely stunning with 360 degree mountain views!
As good as it gets! The only thing better than the one of a kind, breathtaking views and grounds was the service. The way we were treated by so many staff members (it’s the little things! ) made our stay in this historic hotel as memorable as the setting. Highly recommended for couples or families. From the beautiful, comfortable interior, to the food, to the quaint farm out back, somebody is doing something right. We will be back.
Beautiful gardens and the staff was wonderful.
Terrible 0/5 ⭐️ their staff is rude, they ruined my wedding stay, their target gave me food poisoning there was flies everywhere they were swatting them while we were eating our wedding dinner. The 6 inch cake was frozen dry trash. The room was dirty and small. I would not recommend this place.
We had a nice time staying there this past weekend! The outdoor pool is so nice! The Harvest restaurant in very good! Our room this time was kinda small and no view. Only one chair to go with the table! Otherwise we were happy with our stay! We will come again and book in advance … to get a room with a porch and view … like we have had before!
Absolutely beautiful and the service is top notch.
Wow, what an amazing view! My son and I played 9 holes on this course while my wife and daughter got a pedicure. Beautiful hotel with so much to do. Highly recommended.
The view any time of year is absolutely beautiful. There are lots of area and hotel activities. The hotel and staff are amazing. I highly recommend a visit.
We love this place! Very comfortable atmosphere and the food is always amazing!
This resort not only tolerates discrimination, it openly enables it. My in-laws were made to feel like trash by a racist. A fully transparent racist who made crystal clear how intolerant her rationale was, and the staff couldn't have genuflected fast enough. So if there are any bigots out there that don't want to be near say a biracial couple, or an LGBT guest, or a handicapped person come to the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa where the cowards that work here will accommodate your every prejudice and call it a "lateral room change" but the rest of us should really give our money to one of the other resorts that appreciates their guests. No matter what they look or sound like.
The venue is breathtaking, the hotel is warm and inviting, lots of out door activities, amazing food!
Fabulous food and service in a beautiful atmosphere.
We would recommend The Mountain View Grand to anyone looking to get away! The food is great and the activities are awesome. 5 Stars all the way.
We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at this beautiful resort. There were so many fun winter activities to do that we never left the resort. The tavern had great food and drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going again.
We had a wonderful experience at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa. The view is spectacular 🏔 and the kids activities were fun. We really loved the Farm. The hotel history ❤️ room was lovely. 10 out of 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My husband and I had a great time. The hotel has a wonderful history and the staff are outstanding. No matter where we were, everyone was happy and friendly. We would definitely go back.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Great staff and very enjoyable stay!
One of the most beautiful places. The flowers are gorgeous and the view is out of this world. Very healing and relaxing. Eating outdoors at sunset, good food,, good drinks. With good friends and that view was an experience I'll never forget.
Just a had a terrific 2 night stay at the Mountain View Grand Resort. The customer service was impeccable, even at this time that they are short on staff. Everyone from the concierge, valet, bartenders, & cleaning staff were beyond helpful & extremely friendly. We especially loved our signature suite with beautiful view of the mountains & pristine grounds. Many family activities including bocce, smores at the campfire, farm w/alpacas, sheep, & chickens! The veranda offered a gorgeous view of the mountains with plenty of open seating on Adirondack chairs & tables/chairs. Full bar & restaurant inside — beverage prices were fair & service was awesome. We loved our stay!
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and we felt totally safe. Our waiter at the tavern was amazing! I’ll definitely stay there again.
My family had an amazing time at the MVG Hotel this past weekend. They had activities for all to enjoy and were extremely cautious and clean with their standards of service. I highly recommend this property.
Very nice helpful and caring staff. Upgraded my room because of size and was handled by Jodi very kindly, friendly and she was wonderful. Staff in tavern were awesome also. Covid compliant and clean and safe. Highly recommend.
My husband and I celebrated our 21st Anniversary. We highly recommend the restaurant, bar, and spa.
One of our favorite historic grand hotels in the beautiful white mountains, cozy and Great service!
Excellent service, beautiful views.
The staff was professional, accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was special despite COVID restrictions. The venue was gorgeous, the food was delicious and everything went smoothly!
Great place! Nice view, very nice staff!
Will return!
Gorgeous classy hotel, European feel, nice food, great activities and beautiful setting.
Such a wonderful place with wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
Good to get out… great mountain views.
Excellent customer service and can’t wait to get up there again!
Enjoyed our weekend here. Spa was amazing. Staff was great! Loved the activity’s throughout the day. The farm and the ax throwing were fun. Food was good, and enjoyed listening to the live music in the lobby. We did eat at the wine cellar, which was an experience and do recommend. We are looking forward to coming back in the warmer months and make more memories! Thanks for all the great staff and a fun relaxing weekend.
Wonderful time spent at this beautiful historic hotel. Grand it was, making wonderful memories with my family. Great breakfast buffet and waiters. Can’t wait to return The staff taking care of getting luggage and bags to and from our room we’re amazing!
Absolutely beautiful setting, mountains gorgeous, hotel updated, staff personable.
Great place with plenty to do.
We have gotten a room upgrade every time we have stayed.
Excellent food — great service — wonderful atmosphere. The recent renovations to the hotel are impressive and very guest-friendly.
The Resort has breathtaking panoramic view. We had the corner room, both sides of the windows have spectacular views. Comfy bed, clean bathroom, nice staff. Since there was nothing near by, we had all our meals at the Resort. Breakfast was super good, great varieties, the buffet line has everything you wanted. Lunch salads was very very good as well as diner menu. We will come back to enjoy the nature, the farm and the food.
This lesser known resort is only 25 minutes or so from the Mt. Washington Hotel and is so kid friendly! They have a playground, lawn games, and a farm on site. They also have pools, bocce, and a yummy restaurant on site.
Loved the bed. Very comfortable! Very quiet there. Had a portable ac unit in our room. Staff was very friendly! Next time I come I will be trying out the spa!
This is the finest hotel I’ve been in in New England. The backdrop is spectacular, the accommodations are old world but very comfortable, the food is excellent and the staff are attentive, very helpful and very knowledgeable.
There aren't enough words to describe how much I love the grand! The staff is top notch. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. Our room had a magnificent view, and was clean and comfortable. The Harvest Tavern offers an incredible menu, and every meal we had was delicious. The Wine Cellar was such a treat on our last night there. All of the activities offered are fantastic. We had such fun, from playing bingo to taking a tour of the hotel and farm. (Love the alpacas! ) Next time we will try the ax throwing! We will definitely be back… and soon!
Heated pool, friendly staff. areas that need attention. Food service was slow and needs better management. Quality of food was not as good as it was last year.
I love the place. Came 2 years in a row. Both in July. All sorts of outdoor fun activities, but bring bug spray. Nothing is done about the ravenous mosquitoes and really can ruin sitting on the beautiful deck.
Beautiful place to stay we had dinner the food was so good and the room was one of my best.
Awesome resort! Service is second to none! Highly recommend!
My friend and I attended the grand reopening of the spa last night and were completely blown away with the atmosphere and services! We will definitely be returning. The spa is beautiful and so very relaxing. From the moment we walked in we were in awe! We can’t wait to go again!
We enjoyed our stay at Mountain View Grand! The grounds were expansive and immaculately kept. And those unbelievable views! The staff were gracious and helpful. We accidentally left our bag of medication in the lobby on our last day. We received a call from the front desk and they mailed it to our home the next day!
The hotel itself is LOVELY — a big treat. The 1864 Wine Cellar restaurant is really taking advantage of visitors. The atmosphere is beautiful and romantic, but the wine list is basically hour average grocery store wines — and the wines by the glass especially on the cheap end. Dinner was underwhelming with the exception of the beautiful and delicious “forest floor” second course. Stale bread, tough duck, bland char. It was obvious that the lemon meringue was not made fresh that day, and the “creme brûlée” were 3 cubes of grainy jello — really inedible. Not what we would expect at this price point and disappointing given the beautiful environment.
Went in expecting a nice romantic vacation with my wife. The scenery surrounding the resort is very beautiful. Staff were friendly and polite. There were plenty of events offered. Where the vacation fell short was actually that it was not the romantic destination we thought it would be. It basically seemed like a Disney resort with all the kids running around screaming and spilling their milk all over the beautiful flooring of this historic hotel. This is no fault of the resort itself. But I can think of many other more child friendly places to take kids on a vacation. At least we were able to witness one well-mannered family eating breakfast together at this resort. If you are seeking a romantic destination within the area we had better luck at the Inn on Newfound Lake. Upon arrival we also encountered a moldy shower liner. Housekeeping promptly replaced it upon request. Ventilation in the bathroom is non-existent which probably is a major culprit in mold situation. We ordered room service one night and the food was just mediocre. The spa was also just ok. The atmosphere at other historic hotels is more tranquil, such as at West Baden Springs. We were hoping to get to experience the bath which was available at the time of booking, but was no longer offered at our time of stay. The hotel was worth visiting once, but I don't think we would repeat a visit.
This was our second stay at the hotel. We had gone once before as a birthday gift from my sister (in the winter) and we loved it soo much we decided to come again in July for our anniversary. When we arrived we decided to go down to the farm because we didn't in the winter. There we met Kyle who was absolutely fantastic. Extremely friendly guy, answered all our questions about the animals and we probably talked his ear off but her was a great guy to talk to. After the farm we went inside and got a quick tour to see the wine cellar. I wish I had gotten the girls name because she was really nice and it was extremely kind of her to take me and my girlfriend down to see it outside of tour and dinner hours. From there we got lunch at the Tavern and had two awesome servers from Jamaica! Dalton and Andre. They thanked us for being such happy people. We loved talking to them about the hotel and their country and they were such courteous people. That night at the bar our servers were Krista and Tomas. Krista definitely seemed like a veteran and she had been helping out all the other bar tenders but they were all extremely nice and fun to talk with even running around with all the people at the bar. Tomas was able to learn my drink (that wasn't on the menu) after making it one time and was my go to for the rest of the evening, lol After waking up the next day we went to the meet the farmer and met the other farmers who were also phenomenal and I wish I had gotten the woman's name.
In short we enjoyed our stay at the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa. The location was beautiful nestled with great views of the White Mountains. Right upon entering the staff was both courteous and friendly. There are plenty of activities to do and this is probably what we enjoyed the most with our two small children. It was easy to use the movie theater even after we had already checked out for the day. We essentially had our own private Cinema with a movie of our choice and friendly staff bringing us popcorn for the movie. On the rainy day we left this was very much appreciated. The game room was also well kept with plenty of things to do, and the pools were both beautiful. There was plenty to do to keep a family of four entertained for the day. Each morning we were also able to go to the farm with our children and help the farmers pick the eggs, let the chickens out, and visit with all the farm animals. There was also a playground that our children loved with various games for Adult and Children's to enjoy. Overall we did love our stay and appreciated more than anything that on the day of check out we were able to stay throughout the day even after the checkout process since it was raining in our other plans were cancelled. The only one concern I would have of the mountain view grand is the condition of the rooms. We were in a historic double bed Queen view room.
The Mountain View Grand is one of my favorite go to spots. When the kids were little we used it as base camp for Santa's Village and Six Gun City. Now that the kids are older they still want to go back because there is so much to do at the resort itself. The food and service is wonderful, the location is so picturesque, who could want more?
The SPA and wine cellar dinners are my personal favorites.
I stayed here with my husband for a wedding last weekend. It was quite expensive for what you get. Location was beautiful and the resort was clean and inviting. The front desk and concierge were polite and very very helpful. I went to the spa for a manicure and there were less than 10 colors to choose from — had a known I would have went to a nail salon prior to the trip. The real disappointment though was the room service. We ordered 4 items in total 3 food items and a drink. Only one of the food items was accurate — three trips and an hour and a half later we still did not get what we ordered. We ended up going out for breakfast. You'd think when you spend $50 for breakfast you would get what you ordered. Plus they said they would take the charge off our room, but never did. Beautiful, but I'd never go back. I'd rather go back to the Omni Mount Washington — at least you get what you pay for there!
I booked Thursday — Saturday in mid June using their spring special discount. My first night I dined in the bar, the bartender took forever to bring my drink, when I asked for a napkin, she gave me the used towel she had to wipe my place at the bar. I ordered another drink and she never brought it. On my last day, my server at breakfast was terrible. She never asked me for a drink, I had to ask her and then I had to hunt her down for the check. When I went for my massage, they had me booked with the wrong person! I ended up canceling the appointment. I was looking forward to my stay here, but left disappointed. The scenery and guest rooms were great, but the staff was lacking.
I’ll be staying somewhere else. When I called to reserve a room, a woman answered and introduced herself as Kelly. Kelly quoted me $280 per night with taxes and fees, but said if I get the block code (I’m staying with a wedding) I might get it a little cheaper. I told her I would get that code from the bride and groom and call back. Not 20 minutes later I called and someone else answered and said it’s $385 and was never $280 and that’s the rate and Nobody named Kelly works there. I guess the moral of the story is to book right away because if you call back to book a few minutes later, the price goes up by over $100 per night. What a sham.
The views from the Mountain View Grand are incredible. I live nearby and this was my mother's favorite place to visit. The flowers are so beautiful in the summer, and I could sit on the porch, sipping a drink and staring off into the mountains all day. My favorite in the dining room is the Maple Bacon Pizza. If it is a nice day, I recommend eating outside at the club house for a nice casual meal.
Beautiful place! Exceptional view of the mountains. Courtesy staff and impeccable cleanliness of the place.
They brought up the prices in the room service menu. Took out half of the food they used to have. Housekeeping was lazy, the restaurant had employees messing around to the point where I had to go ask someone to get another employee so we could finally be seated. Manager said he’d call me to talk about our experience and never called. Very sad because this place was one of my favorite places to go. Been going for years and now it’s like a motel 8.
Went to this hotel for a wedding. This place was incredibly beautiful. The scenery was gorgeous views of the mountains. The hotel itself was a beautiful old building with extremely friendly staff. I would greatly recommend this hotel to anyone who really wants to get away from reality for a while and just relax. The worst part of the hotel was the parking. There was not really all that much parking and what was left was pretty far. They did have a large drop off lane that helped when unloading.
Outstanding hotel. Stayed during what the locals refer to as the mud season because of the melting snow. Check in was easy, the room was clean and comfortable with a breathtaking view of the mountains. There was a new safe in the closet, cable t. V. And a newly refurbished bathroom. Staff was extremely nice. Slept with the windows open and enjoyed the crisp mountain air. The hotel has a huge list of activities to do like swimming, hiking, golfing or axe throwing! There is a restaurant and bar onsite also. Free coffee in the mornings. The most important point to hotel review I guess is whether the reviewers will visit again. Yes I would, and I look forward to bringing friends and family.
Very nice place to stay. I just wished there staff pay attention to the little details. Like room service for breakfast chipped coffee cup and no salt and pepper. Our bathroom by the sink has stuff on the wall to the left of it. And under the mirror on the wall you can see little amount of mold growing at the base of the sink. Staff in the Tavern need to be educated about what you see out the windows. So when asked you are not told to use a app on your phone that will tell you. When bussing a table that had kids at it you really need to look on the floor and pick up what is there. So the next person dose not step on the blueberries on the floor. The cover on the bed the label should be at the foot of the bed not up at the head of the bed. Little things are what makes a place excellent!
We had a fantastic weekend here this past weekend. We really love how the building feels solid … definitely built in a different time period. The restoration of this property is excellent (it was done in the early 2000s I believe). We loved the old pictures in the computer room. Total escape into yesteryear. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The food was great! We love that there’s a working farm on site as well as a garden. Farm to table is the best! This establishment is also trying to do great conservation work by lowering waste and wasteful practices with regard to linens etc. Plenty of trails to walk which were lovely and well groomed. Lots of activities to participate in as well. We definitely will be back!
From the food to the accommodations & especially the staff MGV receives 5 stars for this last trip! By itself to be in a place with so much history & so many historical figures who have visited this wonderful place in the past you can really feel it! Now as a vendor from New England I get to visit many different venues week in & week out which is nice because I have a few bad news that we just feel like we live at, anyway visiting as the DJ/ Entertainment for a wonderful wedding, I just have to say the staff really takes care of their vendors so I would imagine that they bend over backwards for customers and guests! 's no doubt!
As beautiful as it is in the pictures. Excellent customer service from all staff. Exceptionally clean and we'll maintained. We stayed in a grand view 2 queen room which was spacious and really did have a great view of the presidential range. We stayed off season and it was raining/foggy for much of the stay. Planning on coming back next summer.
Had a great weekend for our 3rd anniversary. The staff was exceptional and very courteous. We dined in our first night and very much enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Prices were comparable for a nice hotel. Breathtaking scenic view of the White Mountains. We will definitely come back again.
Nice spot for a relaxing get away. We had a basic room that was adequate but next time I would upgrade to a larger room. We enjoyed the piano player in the lobby and the deck overlooking the mountains. Our only complaint was the lack of staff and service in the bar area. They were busy but clearly not capable of handling the crowd. We found a manager and they saved the day. We were sat in the dining room and had amazing service with dinner. Once the staff found out we were frustrated they immediately took steps to remedy the situation. Don’t forget to ride the elevator! It’s historic and a real treat.
Staff were friendly and engaging. Views are beautiful. Lots of stuff to do right at the hotel. Great experience. Definitely planning to return.
The room was super dusty when we arrived. It was also very warm. Tried opening up the window but whoever painted it, painted the windows shut…! My husband came to the rescue and finally got it open. We were dying. The resort was good. A lot of things for the kids to do. The axe throwing was a fun adult game (my husband was the champ, I was the loser) and the mountaineer club was cool for the kids for 2 hours. Pool was a decent size. Game room was fun. Theybhad many card games and board games. Bingo was fun. Wine tasting was also great. Overall, a great place to stay if you have kids. We really wanted to do winter sports like ice skating, snow tubing, dog sledding, etc. But it was just too warm. 50+ degrees in Feb! Next time. Kids learned a lot about the farms and farm animals. The restaurant is decent enough. We were at the bar area at the high top. First come first serve. Food was good but a little bit on the pricey side. Drinks were good. Service was great. People are nice. Lobby area very comfortable and inviting. I sat alone by myself for 2 hours while the kids were at the mountaineer club. Shoes off, coffee, book and chill. Highly recommend going down to Grandma's for breakfast. Nice little family owned restaurant. Cash only. Will go again. Kids loved it.
I stayed here this past weekend with family and had an amazing time! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and answered any of our questions! The food is amazing, everything comes from local farms and is homemade! You also can't beat the views. There is a movie theater on site and a great indoor pool with sauna and jacquizi. They have free tours and family fun activities going on all day. We loved the on site farm and spent some time talking with a farmer. We did some snowshoeing on the trails which was breathtaking. There is also a very cozy fireplace in the lobby and a piano player on the nights we were there. I highly recommend this place to anyone and would go back!
Nice quiet resort in the middle of nowhere. Very secluded with lots of activities both inside and out. Good for both winter and summer. Room was on the smaller side but very nice and clean, and everything you would need. Will definitely be returning.
Very old beautiful building in the mountains. Had the privilege of staying here for a conference. Didn't seem to be a lot around to do but if your looking for good views and some peace and quiet this is the place for you. It also not to far from Mt. Washington!
Quite upscale place. Beautiful, and has turn-of-the-century charm, lobby, and grounds. Rooms are OK, but not comparable to rest of hotel. Expensive, and location is poor. Was a great place for an event, but would not stay for more than a weekend.
Lovely homely atmosphere, very helpful friendly staff, fresh well cooked local produce, well stocked bar and delicious wines. Free games room for the kid's, swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi, plenty of board games, chess etc and quiet rooms to read in and if you have forgotten your book plenty to choose from. Only one criticism no cover on main lobby door so icy blast when opened — which can be often — I was told they were working on a solution BUT that is my only criticism. Just go and try it views are magnificent.
Great place, ax throwing and bingo were a lot of fun (among other free activities) and food was great as well! Friendly bar tenders. Food is pretty good in the main restaurant but really shined down in the wine cellar at the five star restaurant. Did I mention free wine tastings?
Service was truly excellent. Staff was friendly, very attentive, and knowledgeable. The beds were very comfortable and the property was clean inside and out. We stayed for just a couple of days so we didn't get to experience all the activities they had to offer. The locker/shower room was convenient when using the pool and hot tub.
The amenities are nice at this place and the rooms are very clean, they're a bit stuffy though and the maids come into your room even AFTER they've cleaned the place… which is really uncool and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the restaurant kinda sucks there and really, there isn't anywhere else in the whole town to eat. The place is REALLY expensive too and the servers are friendly enough. The concierge did bump us up to the next room type for free and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Also their afternoon cookies are delicious. We came for a weekend trip, for a one time thing I can't complain they were accomodating and helpful, but I don't think i'd recommend it being a regular stay for anyone.
We hosted our company’s 20-year anniversary conference here and it was incredibly successful largely due to the hotel staff. The location is perfect for showing off New England to visitors and the hotel has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The best part of our experience was the staff’s friendliness and willingness to help us in every way over the three days of our visit. They accommodated last-minute changes with ease and ensured that all of our guests had a phenomenal time. I would highly recommend using Mountain View Grand for any major occasion you are looking to host.
Venue is beautiful with a great view of the white mountains. Was there as a guest of a wedding. They had a separate building for the reception and a third building for the after party. It was a beautiful place and would go back.
I'm having a blast at this resort. We came for a company outing and it's very beautiful. Service is great and I only have positive experiences.
Nice location. I have stayed here a few times however this last stay awful service on veranda and bar. Room very musty smell! Not sure I will stay here again on next business trip. Hotel looking a bit worn.
Nice hotel and friendly staff … HORRIBLE RESTAURANT and I mean truly awful. Despite a reservation, we waited over 30 minutes for a table, the wait staff wasn't trained, the manager was busy with so many complaints. We left after 1.5 hours after the waiter told us it would still a long wait before our food would be ready.
Loved everything about this place. We did S'mores, farm tour, 1865 Cellar Tour with Kelly, and had an incredible breakfast. The hotel exuded charm and intimacy. The piano player in the lobby was wonderful
The porch views were spectacular. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Loved the oldest working elevator and view from the top of the spa.
Having our wedding here this weekend. Service is excellent, spa is lovely, rooms are nicely appointed, food is delicious, and you can't beat the view. Looking forward to our day!
Very nice resort with beautiful views. We stayed over the Labor day weekend, so it was fairly busy especially with 2 weddings going on. The staff handled the crowd well, and were always polite and accommodating.
Great 9 hole golf course. Get the ultimate experience of a traditional NE golf course. Panoramic view of Presidential range. Friendly staff and good food and beverage choice at club house. Doesn't great any better than this.
We had a wonderful, quiet room with a balcony … room 124. Of course, this room was a bit more expensive than the "standard" room but well worth the extra expense. The room was spacious and quiet (possibly because we were at the end of the hall). Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom amenities were actually good. The water pressure in the shower could have been better. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely return! Ask for the AAA rate if you are a member.
I have been here three times and I am going back in a few weeks. It is a big place with AWESOME VIEWS regardless of time of year. The staff is wonderful. Go for the larger rooms otherwise you will barely be able to walk around the bed (yeah, that small). They are adding a modern elevator. The current elevator is an antique controlled by the staff. Otherwise, navigate your way around the variety of staircases and hallways. My room on one visit was about as far away from the parking as you can get. I think I lost 10 pounds because of that! It is a big parking lot but can fill up especially when there are weddings and such going on, and they have lots of weddings (and stuff) there! The bar/restaurant is pretty good. The breakfast buffet has pretty much anything you desire so it is worth adding breakfast to your package or paying for it. The Cellar restaurant (reservations required) is exactly what it says. You are eating in a wine cellar ad it is beautiful! Amazing selection of wines but you find it pricey. The menu is expansive. Depending on what I ordered (been there twice I think) the food is good to OK. Not special. It is more of an experience than a must go. The Tower Spa offers many different services. If you want a unique experience, do the Sok tub. The tub is large enough for two. It is like laying in champagne. Not all that therapeutic but it is relaxing. The main reason for doing so is the views, the privacy, and it is rather romantic.
Everything was amazing. Our daughter loved the little animals in the barn!
Beautiful resort. Very good restaurants. Just didn't have snow for all the outdoor activities they offer, whoch is mother natures fault.
This place has some of the most spectacular views… But pricey.
Well manicured grounds and friendly staff. Cozy rooms and decent food. A little pricey, but makes you feel fancy.
Room is clean comfortable but a bit small. Restaurant in the lobby is very delicious and family friendly, kids love their buffet. Lots of on site actives, too.
From the time we arrived the service is a five star! The food, the people are so friendly, the spa was amazing! The manager at front desk she was so accommodating & also the floor manager of the Wine Cellar who made our 25th Anniversary an experienced we will hold on forever! We highly recommend this resort! We'll be back definitely!
The woman, Wendy, who helped me book this surprise trip for my girlfriend and I, was amazing. She went above and beyond to answer any questions I had, and help me get everything setup perfectly. Seriously, the best person I've ever dealt with when setting up a trip. So far, considering we are still here for 2 more nights, it's been wonderful. The food is excellent, the rooms are amazing, the staff is very polite and helpful and the activities are enjoyable with an extravagant view. This trip so far has been a blast and if given the opportunity I would definitely come back.
Stayed for 2 nights during a company outing and had a great experience. The grounds are beautiful, the room was cozy, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff were attentive and gracious. They also catered breakfast which was fantastic. We would definitely return again.
Old vintage look and style. Lots of activities. Great and amazing view. Live music in lobby. 2 pools. Jacuzzi. Sauna. New Hampshire's oldest elevator. Golf Very very very scenic views.
The staff was more than friendly. The place has beautiful views. Our room was pretty clean for an old hotel. The grounds are great lots of activities. We stayed around the 4th of July lots of kids we didn't mind cause we had Bloody Mary's. Spa was OK food at all restaurants was a 5 star. Worth the trip.
Stayed here with my husband and 2 year old daughter last June and have nothing but great things to say about it! The staff were all fantastic to deal with and very helpful! Our room was cleaned every day and all parts of the resort, inside and out always looked clean! The indoor pool area was great! The grounds were maintained very nicely! The food at the restaurant was always fresh and waiters were very friendly! The smores nights were one of our favorite parts of our stay! The beds were way more luxurious than any other hotel we've stayed at and the pillows were wonderful! We couldn't have been more happy with our stay! We will definitely be back again!
Rooms were clean and comfortable. The spa is fantastic and everyone here is pleasant, friendly, and willing to help.
Mountain view grand is a great place for vacation or romantic getaway! There is so much to do from axe throwing to farms and many dinning options! This is a must visit again location during any season! Wonderful staff! Cannot wait to come again!
On my brief visit to the Mountain View Grand for a family lunch, I expected the dining room to reflect the beauty of the hotel exterior and setting, and I was not disappointed. Our waiter was perfectly helpful and friendly. The prices for lunch were completely reasonable and comparable with far less luxurious establishments in suburban Boston. We had a very nice lunch with exceptional service and value.
Fun for the whole family. We enjoyed visiting the farm, bingo, swimming, ax throwing, whiffle ball, wine tasting, hiking, beer tasting, drinks on the porch with a view to die for, reasonably priced good food at the restaurant, and great staff. Stan was wonderful at grating the family and getting them to feel welcome. We will be back.
Excellent hotel, but the tavern needs more staff. Food is ok, not great. Short menu. Activities are great. Axe throwing competition is a lot of fun. Worth the visit.
I've stayed at MVG for about 30 days total over the last two years. It's quaint, beautiful and historic. The rooms have varied in quality because of the age and condition of various parts of the hotel. Be sure to spend some time reading the history and looking at photographs on the first floor. The best part of the hotel is the porch which is wide and long and overlooks a lovely view of mountains and green space. The worst part is the dining room service and the food. The dining staff never seems to know what they are doing, which is understandable to some degree because the hotel serves as a training ground for students studying hospitality. The food is passable. There's usually too much of it on the plate, but it's rather bland except for the pizza. The pizza is hand made and always a bargain. The breakfast buffet is also a winner. I will miss my annual trips there.
Impeccable service. Too bad that employees do not respect the environment: leave 20 minutes car lit no one inside when the pickup truck in front of the hotel is unr tendency. Pollute is surely the privilege of the rich.
My fiancé and I made reservations for a two night stay and reservations for 3 for the Thanksgiving buffet. We walked into our room and it looked clean at first sight but once we went into the bathroom there was toothpaste spewed on the mirror and the ledge above the sink. There was hair in the shower and in the bed. There were flies in the room. We walked into the thanksgiving buffet and they only set the table for two instead of three. We had to wait for another setting and chair. The food was outstanding! The staff was very uneducated on services. Our wine tour guide was 15 mins late and uneducated as well. We canceled our second night and went home for no return.
The resort is really nice and the views are impeccable.
We had a wedding at the MVG in September. I can't speak enough about the views. The views are amazing! BUT that's about it. We had a very unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this place as a wedding venue to a friend. And let just say that they can't even admit and recognize how badly they did. Business like that has no potential for growth! 1) We payed over $300/night for our room. The AC was working, but not cooling the room. I found hair in the bathroom. The room was dusty. They charged us extra $25 for a small fridge. They gave my fiancee a hard time at the check in because his name was not on the reservation. 2) The rehearsal dinner was BAD. I don't need to go into great details, but it started with not having chilled wine and make us wait 20-30 min to get a glass of wine, to badly cooked dinner, and staff that was functioning below basic level of training. 3) The wedding. It was suppose to be our special day. We did not feel that way. So many things went wrong. They served us stale bread (which btw, they are not admitting they did. Apparently all 45 guests are wrong), and salad that tasted like crap. The main dish was excellent. The cake was not decorated as agreed upon. And again, the staff that had no idea what they were doing. These are just a few things. At first, I did not want to write this review.
Do not I repeat do not go to this resort. Checking in went smoothly until we got to our room and that is when everything went bad. 1. Our pillows were stained with blood. 2. There was bugs, spiders and fly's through out the room which I had to kill more than 5 times. 3. The A/C DID not work, on one of the hottest days of the summer. 4. The A/D also smelt like burning electrical which had us not able to use it because the smell was horrible. 5. The food was horrible, and overpriced. When checking out I spoke to the director of rooms who said he would be more than happy to look into these issues. Instead he refunded me $50 (which he did not disclose when I met with him at the "Resort". I have been going back and forth with him for a week now and he is now in denial telling me that he told me me I would only be getting a $50 refund. If I was told this when we met in person I would have asked to speak to someone much higher than him. For a room that costed me $250 a night I REFUSE and make sure that no one I know will ever return. I would have rather stayed at a motel for much less.
Our party of seven booked two rooms for us and our three kids collectively. We arrived separately, and my sister's family enjoyed the pool. When we arrived we all explored the grounds with the kids which included a farm where you can look but not touch the animals. The kids LOVED it. There's a playground and a mountaineering club that will even watch your kids for free if you want a dinner just the adults. I think the minimum age is 4. We ate at the restaurant on the main floor and it was my brother in law's 40th birthday. The staff were outstanding in the restaurant (and everywhere). Food was really good. Only downside to dinner was my brother-in — law's steak was closer to well-done than the requested medium. I got the same thing medium rare, so we split it until his new one came back out. I share that as FYI. It might bother most people, but we consider ourselves mostly reasonable especially since we had a table of tired children who were not the quietest. They had s'mores outside by the fire every night for free. (MUST DO if you visit). We enjoyed the outdoor pool the second day after Santa's villages and ate dinner at be pool club house. To be honest, the food at the clubhouse is really nothing special. People ordered pizza, burgers, a chicken sandwich with quinoa, a salad. They were all not terrible but certainly not as tasty as the food served in the restaurant. Next year we want to try the fancy wine cellar restaurant.
Excellent hôtel pour couple. Très bon service. Un peu cher cependant attendez un deal sur groupon ça vaux le coup.
We have gone to MVG annually, for the last two years and I can't say enough good things about the staff and the hotel. I have stayed at MVG extensively so I can offer you a real (and complete) review and not one that gives the hotel a one star because their spa doesn't know what holistic massage is. This actually was a review that I read! i would like to start from the outside and make my way inside. So, first the view is insanely awesome! As you pull into the main entrance and look to your left you can see a panoramic view of endless amounts of valleys and moutains. It is next to impossible to describe the beauty of it. I will see if I can attach a picture. Also, the land is equipt with tennis courts, bocci, fire pit, golf course, volleyball net and axe throwing course. I'm probably missing a bunch of things but that's mostly what we use. 2nd the staff is fantastic! They range from young college kids seeking summer careers to professional managers. From bottom to top, their personality's are above the rest. In fact, I was walking to my car and happen to catch a staff member from the kitchen seeking a break. This guy just sparked up a conversation with me about how hot it was but even that was said in such a friendly manner I could tell he was just a cool guy (well not literally) he was really exhausted and if it were me I wouldn't have wanted to talk to anyone in that situation.
The hotel is very nice and the staff seem great. The issue I had with the meals was resolved quickly.
Found dead flys in the made bed and all over the floor. Service is slow. Amenities are dated except the gym equipment which has earned the full star given for this hotel. Spa staff doesn't have knowledge of holistic wellness which was really weird for a full service spa in a four star hotel. Spa only offered male massage therapists.
Two of my neighbors have been going there annualy for the last 8 years and I needed to check it out for myself and our family loved it. Can't wait to go back.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. We were drawn in by the spa, which was absolutely wonderful. We just recently were discussing another trip back. However, there was an issue with our card being billed while we were there. I forget the situation but know that we were paying cash for a lot of our expenses and they were charging our card at the same time. We spent the whole morning trying to get things straightened out with management. It was the weekend which made things difficult as banks were also closed. Management was kind and we finally worked it out, but it did take up a few hours of our limited time. I would recommend asking upon check in how the plan on billing. Besides that, the hotel was beautiful, offered some fun little things to do, and was very relaxing. The spa was amazing. We would like to go back but bring our children next time to enjoy some of the events.
I just spent my 1st Anniversary with my Wife at the Mountain View Grand, and while there we had dinner in the Wine Cellar. The food and service exceeded my wildest expectations. This is 5 Star Dining at its best.
I just returned from my niece's wedding at The Mountain View Grand Resort. It was just perfect! The staff (especially Susannah Powell and her assistant) went above and beyond to insure that all details were covered. Everyone with whom I came in contact from the first valet who I encountered to the last was so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The Resort itself is beautiful and the views of the White Mountains are extraordinary! My room was spacious and the housekeeping staff was just outstanding in the way in which they coped with wedding preparations that were going on in my room. If you are considering a trip to northern NH or, if you are considering The Mountain View Grand as a wedding venue, I heartily recommend it and feel certain that you will be as delighted as I am.
This place is great. Many amenities and activities. Who knew I'd be throwing axes? The rooms are comfortable, the service is great. Only complaint would be on the wait and/or cooks. Food took longer to be served than expected and receiving a bill at the end of the meal here at their restaurant. But all in all that didn't take away from the whole experience. Would gladly stay up here again.
We recently returned for a weekend escape in the White Mts where we enjoyed a superb dinner in the Wine Cellar @ Mountain View Grand. My husband and I began our evening with drinks on the porch where we could enjoy the spectacular views of sunset. Dinner followed downstairs in the wine cellar, where our waiter extraordinaire Maxwell guided us through the menu, specials, and vast array of wines. We found Max to be extremely helpful, picking the perfect bottle of wine based off of a description of what I wanted. He described all the menu and special items as to leave no doubt in our minds to what we wanted. It was perfect. As for our food — a light, chilled lobster amuse-bouche, succulent seared scallops and New Brunswick oysters with a delicious red wine mignonette, filet with fontina, and the pan seared halibut special on a bed of lobster, black beans, corn, and peas, topped off with a red quinoa cake. It was delicious and exactly what we were looking for. We didn't stay at the hotel but can say without a doubt it was worth the drive we made to eat there.

Breathtaking views, amazing food, and the staff was the best. Dinner we had Dalton as our waiter. I can’t say it enough but he is by far the best waiter we have ever met. So attentive, so friendly, and we felt like we have known him forever. The stocking on the door for our son was such a great surprise. It’s the little things like the friendly staff and unexpected gifts that make the whole experience.
