I stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. Everything was wonderful from the time we checked in. The employees were super nice and helpful, especially the two ladies at the front desk. The room was spacious, clean and updated. The hotel itself was nicely decorated. You can tell it has been well taken care of. The wedding was in a heated tent behind the hotel and we had access to the cozy outdoor patio area. Appetizers, dinner and snacks at the after party were delicious. The hotel is not serving breakfast on weekdays due to a staffing shortage but they directed us to some area diners. I would definitely stay here again—especially for a wedding!

The Staff here are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. Food in restaurant is amazing. We have been here over 2 months and love it. We will defintely come again.

Over the weekend we had the most perfect wedding at The Colonial Hotel! It truly was a fairy tale to say the least! Everything about the Colonial was amazing from the staff at the check in, the huge bridal suit to all the events held at the pub and so much more. We were blessed with a beautiful day and the ceremony site outside at the gazebo was perfect and arranged exactly as we wanted. The reception under the tent was breathtaking and also exactly how we visioned! All the staff were so kind and helpful and did an amazing job setting up and breaking down. The food was outstanding! With big dinner portions, the bartenders were awesome and kept up with our thirty guests. But let’s be real non of this would have been possible without the help of the amazing wedding coordinators Mary and her team Kayleigh and Sara! They took care of everything. We are extremely happy that we choose the colonial hotel for our wedding venue!

We were supposed to get married 05/16/2020 but like many others, Covid ruined that. Mary WAS AMAZING! Not only did we change our date once, but two other times and every single time Mary was the easiest to work with. She was to calming and she is such a great person that made it much easier. She is personable and knows exactly what to do when to do it. I was nervous about so many things and Mary took care of everything! Even room situations for our guests and wedding party. The hotel is so beautiful and the pictures came out amazing but this staff and this place will always be the best decision we made. Everything is done right and done for you so the wedding can be everything and so much more than you could dream of. It was certainly that way for me. Cannot say enough amazing things about this venue!

The people running this place are the least compassionate worst humans I’ve ever had to deal with. Wouldn’t stay here with someone else’s money.

A wedding booked & contract signed for close to 125 (up to 300) people to attend, but they are only allowing 25 people, and still expecting near full payment. No refunds of any type. Why would anyone pay for a wedding that is supposed to accommodate at least 125 people, for only 25 to get to attend? Total BS. If management can’t do what they need to in order to make this right for their customers, they don’t deserve anyone’s business. The management holds the power to make better decisions, but they choose not to.

My husband just took em here for our 5 year anniversary it was so beautiful took a walk on the grounds and the hotel room was amazing air conditioning kept the room at perfect temperature and staff was amazing had lunch at The Grille and had a great server he was great can’t really remember his name but he went out of his way to make it special for us ended the night by enjoying the hot tub.

Worst hotel and I mean the worst hotel I have ever been to. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

As a Wedding vendor we work at the Colonial 10-12 times a Year. The team there is always very accommodating to us and make each event feel like we are all on the same team. They treat the Bride the way you would want to be treated on the biggest day of your life. Mary & her team guide them through every detail of the day. This venue is perfect for a wedding. Elegant ballrooms, intimate gazebo for your ceremony & great areas for photos. The food is always great and has never ever disappointed! 5⭐Wedding venue Rick Jess

Very disappointed at how his venue is handling weddings/events during this difficult time. I personally have friends that would have been hosting weddings at 4 different locations in the upcoming months and this is the ONLY venue who is not accommodating or allowing reschedules. As many people are aware, there are a lot of moving parts to a wedding — photographers, DJ, makeup, hair, fittings, tuxes, flowers etc. Not allowing a bride to reschedule a May wedding puts all those at risk which amounts to a lot of money and time for the guests, vendors and couple getting married. Very unfortunate you are not working with your clients during such a devastating time the world is facing.

My wedding was October 6, 2019. Mary and team were ON POINT and on time with everything. They helped me relax & made sure I was okay, the whole weekend! so affordable & the wedding staff truly goes above and beyond to make sure that your day goes as planned. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldnt of changed a thing!

Awesome party for receive the New Year! Excellent music! DJ very friendly and nice music selection! Perfect dinner and delicious deserts! Happy New Year! 2020!

As a last minute power outage refugee from the Nor'easter I would have been satisfied with much less. So very clean, spacious, quiet. I might check in again just to swim in the pool. But I am still installing a generator.

We had our wedding there and cannot stress enough how great Mary and Kaylee are. Everything was perfect from food to setup to the ceremony to the after party at the bar. Highly recommended them for a wedding venue ❤

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. From check in to check out the hospitality team were very friendly and helpful. Even though we were there for a sad occasion they made our stay very pleasant. Which was very much appreciated. We will definitely stay there again.

We held our daughter's wedding reception in their elegant and airy outdoor facility. Decor was magical and the space easy to negotiate for all. Food was impeccably prepared. Staff from wedding planner to desk, cleaning, wait staff were personable, efficient and ever so polite. Ample parking. Accessible. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. On site Grille/Tavern provided perfect gathering spot with marvelous IPA's on tap. 5 out of 5. Welcoming and warm with ambience!

This is such a gorgeous venue! I had my ceremony outside and my reception in the ballroom. Mary and Kailee are an amazing team. They were in contact with me regularly and answered all of my questions big and small right away. They helped with all my crisis last minute crises (because trust me they will happen) and made sure I didn't have to stress about anything. The Colonial Grill located in the hotel was the perfect place to keep the party going! They even had a DJ and served and after party display of pizzas and subs. Beautiful venue, accommodations, a pub/bar that's open late into the night, and a wedding team that is on point… What more can you ask for?

Attended a lunch buffet with family for a funeral. Food was good but not much variety. Renovations done to the hotel were lovely and the hotel itself is gorgeous and well kept.

Excellent hotel. I generally judge hotels based on their beds and amenities. This hotel had very comfortable mattresses and soft sheets, and a spotless room. Couple that with a delicious on-site restaurant, pool and function rooms, this hotel has the quality of a large national chain while retaining a small business charm.

This place has a nice look to it. It's a classy venue. The staff is upbeat and friendly and helpful. I was there for a wedding and everything was fantastic. The rooms are updated and comfortable.

Three stars? From who? Rooms have no privacy shades so the street lamps in your room all night. Yes has a bar and that's why there are so many drunk people here. Hallways look like something out of the Shining. Midnight and still awake still hearing people in the hall. Think twice. Thought it was a nursing home should have gone elsewhere for a good night sleep. O yes 250 $ smoking charge they should add vap pens to that list.

Stayed overnight for a wedding. Location was far enough away from traffic but close enough civilization. Rooms were large and offered good sound barrier from next door neighbors. Food was very good and overall staff was helpful. Would stay again.

The room was clean and fresh. Updated decor in the rooms. The bathroom doesn't have a fan, so I set the smoke detector off with a shower. Bed was OK, the mattress and pillows are fairly hard, but the linens were soft enough. The fitness center is very well equipped. I never got the chance to see the pool. The restaurant is above average. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere. If you're a Simplex employee, which I gather is a very significant proportion of their clientele, rent a car while you're there, or you will be stuck in the hotel.

The hotel was exceptional clean and we'll maintained as we're the grounds and parking area. The staff was friendly and efficient. The quality of the meeting room was great. The food was served hot and in good portions.

Lovely hotel, hot tub was enjoyable, but it definitely feels like the focus is on folks getting married or having events there. The breakfast was not at all good and isnt free on weekends. The room was small but the beds were comfortable. I would say that you could definitely have a more comfortable stay at a Hilton or any other chain hotel for significantly less.

The "manager" went on a power trip tirade in the middle of a wedding and started yelling at wedding guests walking down the hall to their rooms. There was someone parked outside my window in their car for about ~30 minutes just staring into my room. And when I told the front desk she had no response at all. Honestly I could keep going on and on but I won't. Just do yourself a favor spend you time and money elsewhere.

Just celebrated my best friends wedding there. Easy check in process, very accommodating to my family's needs, nice wedding ceremony and reception. Great wedding planner that helped us out day before and day of wedding. They cleaned the room in between days for us. Restaurant right in the hotel was delicious every meal. Omelette bar and Buffett for breakfast. Burger and fries for dinner at the bar while watching the Bruins game. Overall, great experience!

Nice place and decent restaurant. As someone else told me, best place to stay while in Gardner! Now, they do not have a mini fridge in the room but go visit the bar if you need a drink. Be sure to ask for Bridgett if you want superb service and make sure to leave a great tip!

I’ve been coming here for years … however our last stay we were very disappointed to say the least… food was ok nothing to brag about… service was Nothing special either… upgraded to a jacuzzi room which was also disappointing. Then got accused of smoking in our room when we don’t even smoke! so ya time to move on and find a much better place to try to get away /relax… & not be accused for other guests doings … I feel like it was all a big waste of money! Never even received an reimbursement or a simple apology for ruining our weekend! We won’t be back very dissatisfied!

Normally, we have a great combined with great service. I heard another staff member call the bartender Sam. She was fully attentive. To her friends and the four guys in the corner. We didn't get our order taken for over 20 minutes because we weren't ready right away. Our keno cards were at the edge of the bar with attempts to get her attention from her friends and five games later we got to play. (would have won $80 bucks)! My ribs were dry, along with my mashed potatoes and veggies. I'm disappointed, honestly we won't be back.

Warning. This pace does NOT honor your privacy. Law suit pending! My fiance is terminally Ill. In a desperate measure to save her life I am donating my liver. In-laws paid for me and her to get a relaxing couple of days before Surgery that could cost both our lives. I called to book here and requested second floor with best view for our time. We got the first floor in front of the dumpster. I politely explained what was promised and was revengfully moved to second floor under the drive through roof. Our view was entry way ROOF! 1 Week later a state agency was handed over our financial records and restaurant bills WITHOUT a warrant. This information was used against us in court. I'll spare the details but cost us! THIS PLACE SUCKS.

Booked a room with two double beds, the hotel never told us that they changed The reservation to a room with one queen bed I only found out when I walked into the room. When we asked we were told the double rooms were given to the crews working for Ngrid on the power restoration in the area, I understand the reason but feel I should have been notified ahead of time so I could have planned accordingly and not be surprised when I walked into the room. The room itself was definetly dated, the bottom of the bathroom door frame was rotted leaving a big hole, the heat did not have a thermostat so when you turned the heat on it just ran and ran and the room got uncomfortably hot, turned it off to go to sleep and woke up freezing. The pillow case had a stain on it. To sum it up the management and staff needs some lessons in communication and the place is way overdue for a remodel.

Went there for dinner with family. Great food, great service. Reasonable prices. Definitely going back!

First off, after leaving I felt like I needed to take a shower anywhere other than there. The room was not clean when we arrived and the bathroom was tiny and there was mildew in the shower. This hotel is gross. The food was not worth the money, the dough in our pizza was still raw and the silverware was not clean. It also stinks just about everywhere you go in the place except in the bar and pool. The people behind the check in desk look haggard and depressed. I would steer clear, the people who own this place obviously dont really care about it.

The staff was lovely, the room was lovely. The in-room coffee maker didn't work. The complimentary breakfast was not available the morning we were there (Saturday), and the $13 hotel restaurant breakfast seemed steep. But the room was clean, the king sized bed felt luxurious, and there were no problems with the heat.

It's a good standard hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and comfortable. Very convenient location for us driving on the 2 West from Boston.

Hello there, on January 13th my wife and I were married. We booked a room at the Colonial Hotel in their Westminster Suite (The bridal suite) for $279 a night. We were displeased to find that the heater in the room wasn't working. We contacted the front desk and they sent up "The manager on duty" (which turned out to be the bartender) he tried to get the heater going which he was unsuccessful at doing. The room has a fireplace in it so we thought we would make do with that going for the night but we quickly realized that it wasn't putting out any heat either. We called the front desk again at which point they sent up a woman from the front desk to see if as she put it "if she had the magic touch" with the heating unit. When she couldn't get it going she offered us a regular room for the night. We expressed that we paid for the bridal suite and that we just want the heat fixed in our room to which she offered us free breakfast vouchers. We expressed that we were unhappy and really just wanted our money back so we could leave and go home (we live in Fitchburg so not far away). We were told that there was no one on site with the authority to offer a refund. We decided to try and make the best of it and asked for a space heater which they didn't have. My wife got in the Jacuzzi bath tub and filled it, turned on the Jacuzzi jets and what looked like vomit or mildew came flying out of the jets and was floating around the tub.

Was completely horrified at the way I was treated. Stayed here after a company Christmas party and the night time clerk who seems completely bothered by ringing up my minimal purchases of water and a toothbrush. I asked if he was alright cuz he seems upset and his reponse yeah are you okay? I said yes but you seem upset. He response was yeah I'm just tired of dealing with drunk people and I have trash to take out. Classy guy classy place dirty room very upset tried calling the front desk after and could not get a response. After a long period of time and a few unanswered calls, I finally reached the ever pleasant Anthony, who was the original clerk I had dealt with and who was again extremely rude when I finally reached him on the phone. If this is the kind of event The Colonial is trying to portray, than expectations accomplished, if you want your event or wedding here, than expect miserable employees. I suggest go elsewhere to you'd like friendly front desk clerks because Anthony is just miserable and not someone you want to deal with.

Colonial Hotel is amazing! Taylor Butler aims at making your experience the best it could possibly be. Kara is sweet and kind hearted. I would have every event here if I could.

I give the Colonial Hotel ZERO stars (unfortunately I had to choose one on here). They have lost my business and future generation's of business from my family and I. The sales person Kara was the absolute worst to work with — no empathy or sympathy for our situation (a tragic sudden death in my family and trying to book/cancel a room). We had been through hell and back due to this death and 4 days without sleep, and the Colonial Hotel made us go through hell and back again. They were rude (staff interrupting the meeting multiple times), the price stated verbally was not the price we had to pay (due to many hidden fees) — It was Kara's 3rd week or so on the job in sales department and she may have been praying on people in distress and just trying to make a sale which is sick. They will never get my business. I hope other people stay away from them or have a better situation, because dealing with them was the absolute worst and after that would never recommend them.

Great place. Felt right at home. Mini fridge would have been nice though. Great location right off Rt 2.

Stayed 5 nights for some training near by. The restaurant has some great food (I always ate off the nightly specials). Room was clean and kept, staff was helpful.

Had a group luncheon for a birthday celebration in the restaurant. The service was very good, the food was well prepared and delivered promptly. The staff were attentive and very helpful when we were done and wrapping up things for guests to take home.

I was attending the wedding of a dear friend last night and my experience at this hotel was wonderful! The staff was very friendly, and the decor was beautiful. I was not a big fan of their "no outside alcohol" policy. But the man at the front desk who was the only person to even inform us of this rule, was very courteous and understanding when asking us to take our alcohol outside. He was also very helpful when we needed to find transportation from the hotel and informed us of the one cab service in this small town. Overall, everything about this hotel was great and I can absolutely see myself staying here in the future.

We had our wedding at the Colonial on September 22nd. I cannot stress how wonderful everything was! I work with the Colonial on many corporate events each year, so I knew going in to it that the venue, staff and food were all great. Normally, I am the one setting up, running events and cleaning up — but this time, I didn't have to lift a finger! Every possible thing was taken care of for us, from setting up signage and decor, to sending extra meals to our room so we could eat, to timing the ceremony… We even arrived back to our room after the reception to find a luggage cart full of our signs, guest book, card box and extra centerpieces! I cannot say enough about Mary and her staff. The new decor and patio area were perfect and family members are still raving about the food!

Recently attended a wedding. The service from the staff was amazing, beautiful ballroom and great food. However, we had reserved a room as not to drive the 2 hours home. The room was acceptable but not worth what we paid for it.

An absolute hell-hole for $241. For a Saturday night! We ended up leaving at 1:00am to drive 2 hours home. Barking dog left alone in room scratching the door across the hall; when the bar closed the hall and several rooms turned into dens of drunken people screaming at the tops of their lungs! No security on duty. One man in charge of entire facility who was pleasant but could offer no help. Avoid!

The "gentleman" at the front counter should work as a grave digger, he was unfriendly, RUDE and an out right liar if he didn't want to get up from his chair. The shower in our suite leaked every time we used it, the bathroom ceiling was different pieces of material, the queen bed was in a terribly repaired king bed frame. We ordered 10 adjoining blocked rooms, none of the rooms were adjoining, four of the 10 rooms were ordered as 2 queen beds and we were given a bed and pull out couch and some of the rooms smelled like cigarettes. I would sleep in my car before staying there again!

Had lunch. Dead quiet, nobody else there, excellent out of the way spot. Chili is amazing.

Very nice hotel. Staff is very nice and helpful. Restaurant has excellent food and friendly staff as well. Staying for work but would stay again for personal.

Place is a bit dated. All staff were very nice. Could just do with a bit of a spruce but the outside was great for the wedding we attended.

Colonial hotel was gorgeous. It was amazing and so relaxing. Way better than we could've imagined.

Very disappointed. Very price for the quality of the room. Wedding dinner was awful. Rude employees. Plus we was denied to eat breakfast at the restaurant because they have people with reservations. Front desk never notified us that reservatiom was required. I dont recommended this hotel only if you attending to a funtion.

The chicken is undercooked the beef is overcooked. The desk staff is rude. Rooms are ok but no fridge or microwave. I was there for my cousins wedding I will never go back. Not even for free.

The room was fantastic the food was very good service was also excellent one of us food was over cooked and they redid the meal and offered us free dessert witch was very good love the place.

The staff was nice, especially in the restaurant. They were sociable and pleasant. We overheard a member at the front desk being rude to another guest though. Also, the food was good. Lastly, the rooms are bigger than I expected with the floors being a little creaky, ask you can hear you neighbour walking around and vice versa.
