I went for my birthday and it was my first time Omg I loved it. It’s so beautiful and everyone was friendly. I had a wonderful time and I hope to go back soon. The music was awesome too.

Been waiting 2 hours for our 5:30 “reservation”, wait staff refuses to ask people to leave. Management will not assist, even though we are a party of 12 for a bachelorette party with reservations. Staff is rude, inattentive, and unhelpful.

Amazing environment friendly staff great location.

I loved the location and spa treatment. Dinner was fantastic and everyone was super friendly. If you like beautiful scenery and great restaurant coupled with shopping and movie theater this is a great location. Z.

We stopped for lunch on our way home and I believe previous reviews are spot on. Food is good but service is definitely lacking. Servers were moping around and not very attentive. It took some Time before a server greeted us. He was friendly but again not as attentive as I would’ve liked. The bus girl seemed more attentive to our needs. Also — When we arrived, we immediately went straight to hostess station inside hotel. A very unfriendly older woman greeted us. When I asked about gluten free options For my husband not only was she not helpful, she was kind of rude. “I can’t tell you which one to go to” was her answer when I asked which restaurant would be more accommodating to his needs. We will definitely return but customer service needs some improvement.

Bar staff on Friday afternoon had no interest of serving my fiancé and I… or even saying a simple “hi”. We sat for 10 minutes and 5 staff members walked past us (it was NOT busy btw). Overcooked chicken wings (you couldn’t even chew them), overcooked PANCAKES (hard as rocks), the charcuterie board we got for dinner app was a mess and really disappointing. Outdoor pool not open yet and we are a week before Memorial Day weekend and it’s pool weather this weekend, heating/cooling system in our bedroom doesn’t work. Overall this place is so underwhelming. Unfortunately I won’t be back to this place.

The spa was beautiful and relaxing. I had a great facial.

Water’s Edge Resort & Spa has everything a couple can indulge in. Very glamorous grounds and beach I enjoyed so much. My unit being by the ocean with sunrise 🌅 and sunset 🌇 views were superb. Clientele of this resort is commendable. Thank you for my most memorable stay. Luc Anicete.

Timeshare holder 3rd generation 40+ years at Water’s Edge… worked here on the beach summer 2018… first time I’ve ever experienced something like this from any resort. I’ve always heard about suspicious activity at Waters Edge (and dismissed them) but never experienced firsthand, until today. Had lunch there today. Everything was good except the lobster ravioli, it was terrible and made both me and my wife sick.

Great hotel, beautiful location, right on the beach with two pools (indoor and outdoor). Next time I would go during the week as on the weekends they always have weddings (sometime several) and it gets too crowded to my taste.

First things first. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Food is decent. Bed very comfortable, room ok. The package we paid for was def not worth it. We got a room and spa package that included breakfast. It was suggested we call for a massage appt before we checked in. So we did, at least 5x, 4 days leading up to check in. Phone rang constantly with no answer. When we finally got a hold of someone, they took our number and said they would call back. They never did. We called twice more after that, we’re put on hold for 20 min and hung up. We got to the hotel on day of check in and tried to make appt for massages that we paid for. No such luck. No appts available. They did refund us some money. The bartender at the sunset grill less than nice. He had absolutely zero customer service skills. So we figured we’d try the outside bar. The outside bar, we sat at for 25 minutes and we were never even acknowledged by the young bartender. Never made eye contact with us, never said hello, never asked if we wanted a drink. The bar was dirty, trash overflowing, bees everywhere. The two nicest employees were Sebastian in Datillio, and the towel guy near the pool. I know times are difficult, but it seems this place needs an employee overhaul. Not the friendliest people. Just my opinion, maybe your experience will be different.

The view and the band were amazing, everyone was friendly and it was very clean. Food was just ok, service was extremely slow and our dirty plates sat on our table for 45 mins after we finished eating before the manager had to ask his staff, twice, to clean our table! I’ll likely go back for the view, drinks and band. But I wouldn’t go back to eat.

Waters edge is a beautiful venue — the rooms and service is great. I had a wonderful time here!

The view was amazing. The food was good but the staff was VERY RUDE AND CONDESCENDING!

I highly recommend the Dattilo restaurant. Excellent service, friendly staff, nice ambiance, and superb food. A night we can’t forget for my husband 50th birthday.

Stayed in a suite with my wife and 7 week old infant for New Year’s Eve. It was great — friendly staff, great food. The indoor pool was very clean and temperature was perfect. We were trying to be safe during Covid and decided on waters edge and so glad we did. We also had treatments at the spa and the therapists were very professional and the massage was perfect. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The staff is friendly and helpful, the hotel is beautiful and well-maintained, the food in the restaurant was delicious, and the massage therapists were great!

Great service and food. The spa services were wonderful. The bed in our room was so comfortable, we slept well.

We had brunch. My husband ordered the white bean chili. They gave him beef stew. When he questioned it they said they were out of chili. Usually doesn’t the sever tell you and ask you if you want something else. After the 2nd dirty cup I decided not to have coffee. Definitely changed. Will not go back.

Had a perfect stay! The King Parlour room was beautiful and the bed was super comfy! The facility was extremely clean.
Drinks were great! Dinner at the Italian restaurant was very nice. My only suggestion is another outdoor pool. It was way too crowded. Perhaps an adults only pool and a family pool? That would definitely bring me back Really pleasant experience otherwise!

Sunset bar I’ve had better service and the worst clam strips I ever had. What a waste of time and money. Never go back and it once was good.

It's really a home away from home, they have a great resto, very nice ambiance, quiet place to relax, it is really a very cool nice place…

My Mom and I stayed here for a girls get away. Everything was superb. First off let me say when I called I spoke to an Olivia. She was beyond helpful and pleasant. We also dealt with her at checkout and she was so nice and accommodating. The spa was incredible. I’ve no been so relaxed. I had Lisa for my massage and she was very nice. The aromatherapy bowl was a wonderful touch. Dinner was delicious and the gelato for dessert was the best I’ve ever tasted. The pool and hot tub were clean and set at perfect temperatures. Our breakfast was delicious and our waitress very sweet. Our room had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable and we had a water view that was breathtaking. Also when we were checking in a valet overheard me saying we were running late for our spa appointment and he came right over to deposit our bags in our room and park our car so we wouldn’t be late. We will definitely be back. Excellent customer service.

Everyone is very nice the resort is beautiful the room is very clean and big room service for breakfast was also very good, only thing I didn’t like was the dinner the food was not that great and expensive for what you got it is much better by the bar to have dinner much better choice. I definitely go back.

We went there for a spa day and enjoyed the restaurant on the water. Fresh and delicious food, very kind waitress and the view was incredible. The spa was one of the nicest I’ve been to. It was so relaxing. The massage and facial were great!

I am here for the spa… great lunch, followed by a dip in the hot tub… staff is friendly and helpful.

Only went for dinner on the patio… Great music, great view, wonderful atmosphere, very good food and drinks and attentive enough wait staff. We went inside to the bar for the last half hour and they also had a musician there, who was excellent. A perfect weather night outside didn’t hurt… would recommend to anyone.

The outside bar selection is too limited … waitress had attitude when we chose not to have food.

I would not recommend Mother’s Day brunch here. We have attended the event in the past but this weekend’s crowd compromised their service. The wait for the valet and food was subpar. They offered me a bathroom and then a storage room to breastfeed my baby. Overall, I was not impressed with this years service. We brought two other families with us for the first time and they did not have a positive experience.

The resort is beautiful for sure. They make nice drinks and the food is good. Unfortunately you can tell exactly where they cheap out, and it's in the service. To be perfectly honest, they do as best as you can expect, but you're expecting a lot out of teenagers and, what few adults are around are likely not trained in any form of hotel management. So be nice to the staff, it's not their fault the hotel isn't putting them in positions to succeed, but it's unfortunate that the money you give this place clearly goes straight into some dudes pockets and not much goes to upkeep or improvements. I mean, my unit had an industrial drier in it for half of my first day because the AC unit leaked so bad. Then staff came to collect it because they "needed it" for some other unit. Overall recommended but I wish they'd try a bit harder. This place is nice but I could see it decay over years.

Staff was courteous and helpful. Room was clean. Activities and facilities were well maintained. Food was good if a bit expensive. Breakfast buffet was delicious and well priced on the other hand. Will definitely be back!

A nice place on the beach, that is if you love the beach. I figured there would be a problem with our room upon arrival, due to all the negative reviews on various review sights. I was told there was a leak in the ceiling of our original timeshare room and hotel was now placing us in the “Fenwick” building. Although we have a 3 bedroom, all king beds, 2 bathrooms, huge and extremely clean, there are absolutely no elevators to the third floor, hard for me after recovering from surgery. It’s an extremely expensive place and happy we were only here for 1 night. Not much to do but a beach and swimming pool. Magnificent views, but that could just go so far. It would have been great if jet skis and small speed boats were available to rent. Not much to do in town.

Attended a wedding event here recently and it was an excellent venue. The interior and exterior spaces were well maintained and overlook the ocean. Food during cocktail hour and lunch was awesome. Event staff was attentive and professional. I have been to "nicer" places that are trying too hard and end up feeling stuffy. Water's Edge set the bar for how to be refined but still casual and relaxing. Can't wait to come back.

The positives… the grounds are beautiful and many of the staff at the pool and beach were very helpful. The negatives… the front desk staff was not friendly, professional, or accommodating. The pool is not large enough for the number of guests using it. It was full of children who were loud and not monitored… have you considered adding an adults only pool? There were people who brought their own food and were actually eating it in the pool… staff needs to enforce the pool rules. Water's Edge has the potential to be a top notch resort at a fabulous location, but service and focus on the customer experience needs to be enhanced.

The property is beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves. Had wonderful spa treatments but the service leaves something to be desired. It’s very hard to figure out how everything sort of works. Beach chairs, umbrellas, service at restaurants and the staff seem to be kind of clueless college kids who don’t give straight answers. Once we figured it all out it was fine and we would go back, but for what you pay, service should be a little beefed up. One caveat, service in the main restaurant was fantastic!

The spread was out of this world and even on a June Sunday, it was full and replenished often. We also experienced a couples massage at the spa. It was the best couples massage we've ever had. The relaxation room was very nice and had many amenities. The staff in all areas were very accommodating and friendly. We had the best weekend and have already booked another stay and have recommend Water's Edge to our friends and family. The nearby area also has many things to do (shopping and eating) it is a great spot in Connecticut!

Heavenly paradise in New England Beach! It's like living inside of a fairy tale here. The hotel and the restaurants overlook the beach and sea, there's a big garden and much green area down the slope leading to the beach. Amenities are amazing: gym, indoor and outdoor pool, spa, volleyball court, kayaking tenting. Indoor decorations are New England style, very delicate. Great place for summer vacation!

Had an amazing visit with a friend. We celebrate my Birthday. The views are amazing. The staff was so friendly. The food was delicious. The brunch was our favorite. Loved the spa as well! We will definitely be back! Hands down one of the nicest resorts we have been to.

We ate dinner at the Sunset bar and grill at Water's Edge. The atmosphere was electrifying but, unfortunately the food was not. The Lobster roll which I ordered was awful. The lobster was overcooked and way too much butter was on the roll. I also ordered as an appetizer the oysters. The moment they came out I knew I should have sent them back. They were not placed on ice as oysters should be and to make matters worse I found Pea crabs in about 3 out of six. The ones that I did eat were warm and tasteless. My husband ordered the seafood salad which was pleasing could use a little bit more flavor.

The resort is old but very well kept. The view is absolutely breathtaking! They have an outdoor area as well as indoor. Many events and weddings are held here. Food is good too.

The Water's Edge Resort & Spa was just what the doctor ordered for our 3 day getaway. Under a 2 hour drive and world away from NYC, the Water's Edge and the surrounding area gave us a well needed few days to veg in a beautiful location, rest up and eat lobster. What was surprising was this place is as pretty as the website said it was and our accommodations were better than we expected. We expected neat, clean and up to date. What we got was a beautiful suite with a large living room, kitchenette and a spacious bedroom. Maybe it was luck, but who cares. We had a good time.

This was my first time staying here. The room was nice and clean. I took a walk down to the ocean front, there is a pool, and about 100 yards of beach front. Great views of long island sound. On site restaurant had a really good scallop special. The clam chowder was too salty for my taste.

A great place 2 visit. Everything you need 2 have a good time is right there on the grounds. Great food, shows, Had 1 hell of a time at the Elton John dinner show. Live entertainment every night there in the Bistro lounge. Appetizers & dinner if you choose. And an Sunday brunch like you've never had before Next door to the Bistro lounge. With an ocean front water view. Highly recommended.

The staff and view are incredible, and while the paint and bedding are new, the buildings are old. Prepare to hear lots of noise from squeaking boards as well as though the walls. The beds also need new mattresses, you can really feel the springs, and the pillows are so firm they feel like sand. Temperature control is also quite poor. The whole place was quite clean and again, great staff.

My family and I spent the night here over spring break just to get a way for a night with our kids. We did not enjoy our stay here at all. The rooms are dated and the beds and pillows are some of the worse we've ever slept on in a hotel. Considering this is a resort hotel they need to do better. It was so bad we didn't fall asleep until 4 am because our bodies just gave out. The property itself is beautiful hence the 2 star review. The check in was cordial but very fake. We over all did not feel welcome here. It felt like a secret club and we were intruding. Will not be visiting in the future.

Had a bad experience with the food once so I went back and chose the safest option that no one can mess up. Guess what? They messed it up. I will only come back for the drinks, outside entertainment. For such a high scale place, the food should be A LOT better!

Went for a couples massage on Valentine’s Day and the experience was great. The massage was so good, and left me in a blissful state of mind that I forgot my silver chain in my robe pocket. The only bad thing I can say about my experience is that they stole my expensive silver chain. I called back the next day, and they told me that they did not find anything. It is 100% my fault and no one to blame but me. Just a friendly heads up to not forget any valuables there!

We travel extensively, went with another couple to celebrate our Anniversary. My husband reserved on his CC. At check in the clerk was rude and inpatient. She told us the room we reserved was for one night not the 2 we had reserved. We had to call multiple times during reservation process, and were told that we were all set. The manager came to the desk and we finally checked in. Our room was an average king room, the bathroom was in need of updates, the out dated Jacuzzi tub was dirty. Mold on the tiles and when you filled the tub and ran the jets a lovely brown mess floated on top the water. At check out they put both rooms on our CC. Even though the other couple gave them their CC at check in. We will not return to over priced average hotel.

My husband and I went here tonight for Valentine’s Day we’ve been here many many times but only for their Sunday brunch I would never recommend this place to anyone it was terrible the food was good but we waited for 45 minutes with just water in front of us no appetizers no bread no anything nor will be offered anything we had to finally ask about our meal while we watched everyone around us get their appetizers and meal and start leaving our waitress was ignoring us finally the manager came out and offered a drink on the house we don’t drink and said she would give us free dessert my husband steak was not done the way that he liked they didn’t take that off at all very disappointing very pricey but very disappointing.

The hotel and resort are very nice and the brunch is second to none. The truly outstanding service came from the Spa staff. There was a mix up in my Fiancé' and my appointments that very well could have been our fault. The staff immediately took a hold of the situation and literally bent over backwards to make everything work. It was amazing and I would highly recommend them! Our treatments were incredible. Extra Kudos to Andrea for an awesome job! She was extremely friendly and professional! Thanks to all the staff for giving us 5 star service and beyond!

My wife and I went to their NYE party with the overnight package. It’s more an older crowd we are 30 and went to celebrate our first NYE as a married couple. They staged the cocktail party really well spreading out bars over 3 rooms. If you want a more intimate dinner seating ask to sit at couple rather than in the ballroom as a group table. It was pricey for us but all inclusive and no driving, plus brunch the next day.

I visited the Water's Edge Resort & Spa from 12/27/17 to 12/29/17 with my fiancee to celebrate our recent engagement. It was a short time to visit but it was WONDERFUL! THE STAFF: — I had been emailing with Steve to make our reservation and he was great! He was quick to respond, informative and patient with me when I booked the wrong room. In the end, it didn't quite matter because Steve had upgraded our room to a Villa! — At the front desk, Morgan was incredibly friendly (especially for waiting for us to check in at almost 11pm that night). She always waved and said hello whenever we passed by the front desk. I always appreciate good energy like that. OUR STAY: — The Ocean Front Villa is breathtaking. I had seen it online, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money, so when they upgraded our room, I nearly fainted when we walked in. GORGEOUS (the attached photo doesn't do it justice at all) — The Spa was awesome! The ambiance and service was top notch. We got a 50-minute couples massage and it was worth every penny. Sherry was so nice and did a great job! It was better than the massage I got in Paris. I left there so relaxed. MINOR MISHAP: — They did forget to give us our free breakfast vouchers at check in, but that was no problem and I understand it was late when we checked in so it slipped between the cracks, but they made every attempt to reimburse us for that.

Was there for brunch on Christmas eve day. There were a large variety of food choices. Everything the five of us had was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all an enjoyable experience.

We are staying here for the week and looked forward to lobster night. We arrive an hour after it starts and they were sold out. I order the football special wings for $5, and get 5 wings! Are you kidding me?! The bar staff was more worried about cleaning up to get out early than serving the guests, I therefore left much earlier and drank much less than I would have otherwise. It's amazing how that one night can taint your entire week. Up until this the staff and place have been great. The rest of the staff we met redeemed the place. Thanks Denise, Deb, and Derek!

I was here in late September for a wedding. On arriving you cant help but marvel at this place. Its huge and majestic and the grounds are absolutely stunning. The structure makes a grand first impression… The staff, not so much. We walked into the main entrance and tried to ask someone to direct us towards our wedding. We were ignored but a couple people and pawned off by another and finally we were pointed outside and down the stairs. My thoughts are that if you're not going to put up signs for people, at least be willing to guide them. I don't need my hand held but it's a big place and a little courtesy goes a long way. And no. Huffing, pointing, and rolling your eyes do not count as courteous. We made our way downstairs, and again. That view! It was beautiful. And then I saw the bar… and I was in heaven. We had a drink before the ceremony, mainly as a distraction from the pain caused by shoes, and it was good. Expensive, as I expected, but good. The ceremony was beautiful, right before sunset with a backdrop of water. Obviously they don't shut down the place for a wedding so you will have occasional glimpses of beach goers in swimsuits but it's worth it. The staircase makes a grand (and anxiety ridden) entrance for the bride. The cocktail hour was outside and was very nice. The reception hall was large and decorated beautifully. Nice big bathroom for the ladies close to the reception.

My sisters recommitting ceremony was held here, and for the most part it was amazing! My only complaint is that the staff gets very discombobulated when events don't go as planned. Perfect example my sister's ceremony… It was supposed to be on the lawn, but was rained out. It just didn't seem as though they had a backup plan, which there should almost always be one when holding an event outside. They kept moving us from one waiting room to the next until they could figure out where they wanted us to go. Which wouldn't of been so bad if there wasn't elderly and/or disabled people, plus children in the party. Besides that, EVERYTHING else was outstanding!

Beautiful, quaint, resort. Like going back in time :) a gentle mix of southern charm and old new England. A very well kept secret!

I was worried when we arrived early because the lady at the front desk was very abrasive and said "we don't check in time share reservations until 5pm". So I gave her my phone number and said call me when the room was ready. She never called so I couldn't wait any longer because we were dead tired from getting up at 2 am. I got there at 5:30pm and everything went smooth. My wife and I are very impressed. This place is awesome. Great room, very clean, great atmosphere, good food and drink. Would recommend this place! The first lady at the desk just needs to cool her jets. I've decided not to look into buying a week here because of her but I would rent for another week.

Beautiful spot. Modern oceanfront condos available with beautiful view. Fine restaurant and magnificent gardens. Note: during the summer this is a family friendly place with a tiny crowded beach and lots of kids. I would not suggest it as a quiet adult getaway… bring the kids.

We set outside within impeccable view. The buffet was delicious with everything that you could imagine own the menu. A staff a courteous and we all had a great time.

We had a wonderful getaway. The staff was amazing. The food at the restaurants was delicious. (Our server Tenzin, was attentive and on point). The rooms were simple, but clean. The spa was average, but served our needs. The indoor and out door pools were clean. I do wish that the lounge chairs out by the outdoor pool were updated. This was disapointing. Overall, it's the staff that made our stay memorable. We met a lot of nice guests as well who were looking for a relaxing time like us.

When booking we were under the impression that our room would have three beds. When we found out we only had 2 we were offered a cot. For a small fee. Access to the Internet here is awful. It is impossible to log into it. We received no booklet of information about the surrounding area or the hotel itself in our room. The redeeming quality of our stay is the proximity to the beach. The water is generally clear with the exception of seaweed at some times of day. Likely would not stay again.

The resort is very beautiful and clean, it has a lot of amenities to utilize (multiple pools, beach access, spa, and more), and overall is a great place. We did not stay overnight, however my wife booked a spa treatment at their spa, and she really enjoyed her experience. The spa had friendly and attentive staff, and was inviting. We would come back to the location again in the future.

My husband and I visited. This was a gift from our children. When we were checking in the girl said our daughter would need to be present? They also gave me the bill at check out which made me ill! Pricing is way out of wack for the accommodations! Room was dated, with old spa tub. There is a sign in the bathroom to reuse your towel to save water and a 100 gallon tub! Lol We had a couples massage which which Awesome! Also, we enjoyed brunch. Grounds and pool were lovely. Well maintained. Situated on CT coastline. Small beach. Both were packed. I agree with other posts go for spa and stay elsewhere!

Beautiful resort. Many rooms with large windows overlooking the ocean, it's a great view. The hotel was clean and the staff was nice. There is open areas for kids to play games along with kayak and paddle board rentals. I believe everything, including purchases at the bar and gift shop, can be charged to your room. I thought this was helpful. Overall, great location and resort.

Water’s Edge Resort, Westbrook, CT My daughter and I are currently at the Water’s Edge Resort. We arrived on Sunday,  07/24/2016 at 11:30 am because we had a spa appointment at noon. I asked the front desk what would be a good time to check in as a few other people were already checking in and getting their rooms. I was told my room would not be ready until 3 pm which is the specified check in time.  Went to the bar for a drink at Seaview Bistro (the in house bar) — — — to wait for check in.  There were 2 couples at the bar, and 3 people behind it. I was ignored for over 10 minutes. I literally had to yell to get someone’s attention.  Derek (the barkeep) said he was sorry. It took almost 10 more minutes to make my drink. Had a $20 bill in front of me on the bar for payment and he ignored it.  After an hour I had to ask for my bill.  Did deal with Derek again later and same attitude. All of the other customers were saying the exact same thing about Derek.  At 3:30 our room was still not ready. Finally after 3 hours of trying to check in and long waiting lines, one nice woman offered to change our room so we could get settled. We came for the spa experience and paid for the Overnight Spa Relaxation Package, which included one night room, 2 treatments, and a dinner for 2 at Dattilo. Made the spa treatment reservations in advance, which is always a good idea. We added 9 additional treatments at the spa for a total of 11 treatments as this was our “spa getaway”.

Beautiful location right on the water. Food is fantastic. Visited for a wedding and it was gorgeous. Only problem is having to walk through dinner and resort guests and down a large hill to get to the waterside.

Mother's Day buffet. Amy was a terrific server Very attentive to all her tables. Buffet seemed a little mass produced, guessing the high number of customers. Did have a wonderful fresh made omelet and terrific crepes.

Went for the Mother's Day Brunch. A wonderful time as always! Food was excellent, service was quick and professional. Although it was a bit cold, it was a truly worthwhile event.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and made reservations for brunch and the spa. The brunch was excellent and the waiter went out of the way to find me a dairy free milk. The spa experience was OK. The timing got a little messed up but they worked with us to correct it. The massages were very relaxing. My pedicure was done well but my husband said the woman doing his pedicure was quite rough with him. We would definitely go back again though.

We stayed in the timeshare condo for a week. The room was great, except that the soundproofing is very minimal so we could hear our neighbors playing Yahtzee through the wall and we're woken up by golf carts and leaf blowers at 7:30AM. The bar is awesome and the bartenders are the friendliest and most interesting people at the resort. The restaurant had great service but awful food. I payed $24 for a plate of salmon, it was $20 for the view and $4 for the effort put into cooking it. I had to take bites of boiled spinach with the salmon because it was so overcooked that I couldn't chew it without the additional moisture. The table bread was also either old or levened with baking soda instead of yeast, and under salted to boot. Another party got angry and left during our meal because they waited too long for the check, and another party cancelled their order because of the time. I would absolutely not recommend the restaurant. The bar is great for dessert and cocktails. The rooms are nice and clean but noisy. The view is great. Overall a mediocre experience. I hope management can turn this around. It's a great location but is being run into the ground.

Attended the Easter brunch. Service was great and most of the food was excellent with an exception of the pasta station. They used enough salt to clog an artery.

Went for the Easter Brunch and we were very disappointed with the entire experience. We had a 3pm reservation and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The service at the table was abysmal. We couldn't get plates cleared nor could we get refills for our drinks. Our server was at the bar chatting with the bartender, and pretty much ignored us the entire time we were there. And the food was not great either. Many of the food items were out and not refilled promptly. A lot of buffet line didn't even have serving utensils, which made things even worse. The whipped potatoes had large chunks of raw potato in it. The broccoli was served cold. The English muffins on the eggs benedict were not toasted. They advertised a raw bar, but it only contained some bland shrimp. Overall not worth the $49/person, and the execution issues just made it worse. Definitely to be avoided.

Went there for a work function. Beautiful setting. Staff friendly but appeared a little inexperienced. Food was good, I was told that the luncheon was safe for me to eat (I have food allergies… celiacs) but I got sick from it, despite avoiding the pasta dish that was definitely not gf. Despite that, it's a pretty cool venue, especially in summer.

Waters Edge staff is amazing. Very accommodating. The food was exceptional. What an amazing place. Beautiful location.

The location of the place is really nice and the rooms aren't bad either. I stayed in the 2 bedroom one which the second bedroom is just a loft. It has a toilet and sink up with it but the only shower is down on the first floor off of the master bedroom. Each room has a fireplace and a balcony as well. All in all its a nice place to stay.

Poor communication within and across departments. Hotel has beautiful grounds and the private beach though not huge, is definitely a good size. Guests didn't typically comes down till late morning. Spoke with the equipment department to set up an earlier time for rental and I was given the OK. When I came down no one had conveyed that message to the boys working that morning. Poor communication within and across departments.

We sat outside for all our meals. The food was really subpar. The hamburger was really bland. And the lobster roll smelled unappetizing and left an unpleasant taste in the mouth. It also came out cold. They gave us a free Tiramisu as it was my birthday. The kitchen does not seem to run effectively. The waiter for dinner and lunch said that there was a mix up with the kitchen.

Had a fantastic lunch with my honey can't wait to go back.

Stayed overnight taking advantage of the "Night to Remember" package. Stellar food and service! One of our favorite places to stay for a mid-winter getaway.

Am at Waters Edge all week — looking forward to Monday nor'easter and storm party! great accommodations lovely location. I would happily come again.

My niece, per my recommendation, went to the Water's Edge to see about having her wedding there. They were treated so poorly I had to write and let people know. The women seemed to be in a rush to get rid of them. I had been to a wedding in June 2011 and thought it was beautiful. Hence the recommendation. Maybe she did not think they could afford the place. I will NEVER recommend them again.

I know that some people have posted reviews on this website because of a one time experience that wasn't good, and I feel really sorry that they had a bad time, but everyone has different opinions, so I'm going to tell you mine. In 2 weeks I am going to the Water's Edge, and this year will be our 7th year in a row going. My family goes at the end of the summer every summer and we even went for winter break this past year. You know when you went to camp, or your grandma's house or somewhere like that when you were a little kid, and you called it your home away from home? Well that's what it's like for my family. There's this one waiter there that has been there for 11 years or so, and he always says hi to us. My little brother learned how to fish here, my mom and I get to go to neighboring towns like Essex and we get to shop around and have fun. Some of the amenities are the indoor pool, the Sunset Bar&Grill, the fitness center, the spa, the outdoor pool which actually just finished it's total re-modeling 2 months ago, and of course, the beach. That's just some of the great things here. The best by far, the secret hiding places. They did build condos on the beach, but it really doesn't take away from the experience now that it's all built. It may just seem like just another hotel to you, but to me, it's a home away from home.

Contrary to the "totally lacking" review. This place lacked absolutely nothing! we often visit our son at connecticut college and stay at a B&B. This time our regular spot required a 2 night minimum. We couldn't do two nights, so I called around and searched the web. Water's edge took us for one night and we never expected such a beautiful place, especially for the price. CLEAN, well kept and the food was delicious! we will be back and will be calling this our "regular spot" for sure. Forgot to mention that the grounds out by the water were immaculate.
