What a charming hotel in a great location! I came here with my family (husband and daughters, 5and 6). We had a room on the 1st floor with 2 Queen beds. The beds were crazy comfortable. The hotel pool is salt water and a perfect place to escape the afternoon heat with a bar and restaurant adjacent to it. Walking distance to everything in the French quarter.

NO premium bedding. That was just a lie and a deal-breaker for me. Awful, scratchy bedding and lumpy pillows. So bad! Woken up constantly (1st floor) from the loud party goers outside. Tiny safe, secure parking. No coffee maker, one setting in air conditioner (no matter where you put it), most of the cokes in coke machine were sold out ($3.50 can cokes in the bar! ). No way to open or even look out the windows! The only thing I liked there was the wonderful, sweet blonde lady at the front desk. Otherwise — I'll completely pass next time!

I stayed at this hotel for five days this April (2018). The staff is amazing. They were happy to assist me and helped me when I came in to town a bit early in the day. Sure it could be updated and the walls are on the thin side, but then you would pay two or three times as much. The pool area is quaint, the views are great and its an easy walk to the Quarter, Marginy and a quick trolley ride to the rest of the city. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful hotel, super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff. They were friendly to my two small, slightly rowdy, children! Nice courtyard with a pool out back. Nice location a little ways away from the mayhem of FQ, but still in the heart of it.

Our room was small which would probably be a problem for most people but it wasn't for us. I liked the tiled shower and a shower door as opposed to a curtain. It had a small safe for valuables which was really nice. It didn't smell the way most hotel rooms usually smell which was a nice change. There was a bar and dining area that was secluded from people entering and exiting the hotel. It just had a nice overall vibe. Our vehicle was locked in a gated parking lot which cost $30 a day which actually allowed us peace of mind. Overall very satisfied with our experience.

Retro setting, furnishings and rooms while being on the subject with the French Quarter would need a fixed. The rooms on our floor all overlooked a typical communal terrace surrounding the structure with tables and chairs for a beer and listening to the chatter of the street. Very convenient to the private parking lot at the back, for a fee. High cost for the facility and for the services offered but the whole neighborhood is expensive. Some problem on the payments of the room, however resolved after some comparison to the Ceck out. Convenient location to get to Bourbon Street on foot. Full of places to eat just a few minutes away, a bit away from the opposite side of Bourbon Street if they find better and at a better price.

Intimate but not too small. Service was always attentive from front desk to restaurant. A relaxing and elegant ambiance. The pool was small but nice too.

The hotel is in a great location. There is a parking for cars, leaving you can not worry about the integrity of the car. The staff is very friendly, always willing to help. The rooms are not big but clean. Attractions within walking distance.

Beautiful quaint french style hotel! Location was ideal. A 5-7 mins walk to Bourbon and 2 min walk to the French Market. Rooms were clean and well kept. Nice patio with pool and dinning area. Staff were friendly and accommodating. HIGHLY recommend!

These reviews cannot be real. We just checked out and are both horribly sick due to black mold in the AC unit. Woke up sick after the first night and noticed we were getting sicker as the night passed the second night. Checked the AC and saw tons of black mold spores all over it. Very dangerous for someone with a compromised immune system. Still got charged $365 a night and the manager didn't even apologize. The whole hotel is dingy and damp and the rooms are tiny and stinky. Stains on the sheets. Poor customer service from the front desk. The only redeeming quality were the friendly bar and restaurant staff.

Very clean and excellent service.

The room was nice and the staff was great. The parking in the back made it easy for us to leave our vehicle overnight. Loved the fact that it was gated as well. Checking in and out was fast and easy.

With respect to the quality price is very good, it is a very quiet hotel, the rooms are spacious and above all we wanted a hotel with the style of the place, it is old but very careful, the staff is very attentive and they speak Spanish to you. Only one stick say they include the helpful but what was the surprise and was not included.

My favorite hotel in The Quarter. Very reasonable prices, really nice, clean rooms with a lot of amenities, and the best staff and management ever! When I go to NOLA, this is where I stay. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.

This is a little Hidden Gem on the north side of the French Quarter. It's about 2 blocks from Frenchmen Street which is an excellent place to go catch some really great live venues. Several movie stars can go in there and get away from the crowds and enjoy the quarter in the French Quarter the same time. Have a beautiful Courtyard with swimming pool. Very quaint little bar that I frequent. The restaurant has a fabulous breakfast and for lunch you have to try their hamburgers you will not be disappointed so if you follow my advice you will enjoy.

I wasn't a guest here I was just walking some friends back to their hotel and hanging out in the lobby. Their only complaint was that the rooms were small but I really liked how safe the hotel seemed. The front desk staff was a lot of fun to engage with as well.

Went on a Monday to check in. Very quiet but not far from the action. Loved the antique style room. If you're the type that likes modern design, this place is not for you. Water pressure in the shower is low. Bar on the first floor along with a bunch of brochures. Would go back and recommend to others.

Le Richelieu is an amazing, historic hotel nestled in the heart of the French Quarter. It's a short walk to anywhere you want to go. This building used to be a part of a larger complex owned by the Catholic Church and, more specifically, the Ursiline Nuns. The building was used as an infirmary in it's origin where the nuns nursed the soldiers from the battalions during the Battle of New Orleans. Highly highly recommended. The staff are wonderful. They have security guards watching out for the premises. And they offer gated, private parking.

In my opinion, the BEST hotel in the quarter! Ms. Lourdes and staff do a great job taking care of the guests. You can't beat the pool, parking and intimate lounge. Located away from the madness of mid-Bourbon and close to the French Market. We never stay anywhere else.

Staff is very hospitable and happy. I returned on business because I was thoroughly pleased my first visit and again my room was very well appointed even though I used a discount. The pool is clean and in a nice courtyard off a cafe with bar. And the location is the swankier side of the quarter and probably why so many celebs stay there (just realized that my last visit). I'd book my mother here.

Excellent hotel to get to know New Orleans.

I stayed here for almost a week and it was a great neighborhood hotel. The breakfast is delicious and the staff were all very personable and attentive. Will definitely stay here again.

The overall value is great. Walking distance to all the French quarter has to offer and the trolley line to connect to the rest. The rooms are a bit worn, but the price and location make the condition reasonable. No troubles at all, but the service is perfectly friendly and helpful.

Good location very central, clean, good place to have breakfast, very nice pool, the only small paste the apparatus of hot air that sounds a movie at night and dries the atmosphere, but you can sleep. Very comfortable bed and no quiet outside noise.

Quaint old hotel with New Orleans charm. Front desk staff is pleasant and helpful. Nice bar. Pool area. Rooms are clean. Bathroom needs updating. Killed a roach in bathroom on first night. Quiet neighborhood. Very close walking to Frenchmen St. French Market and only 2 blocks from Bourbon St.

My wife and I spent our first anniversary here and we were not disappointed. We had a room with a private balcony which we loved. The staff made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back! LOVED IT!

Great location. Relatively quiet street. Close to most of the quarter. Only complaint is the bathrooms could use some work… no pressure and no drainage. Everything else is great. Awesome bang for buck.

Tucked deep into the Quarter, away from the bustle but within easy walking distance to everything. The staff is the sweetest, most fun bunch of folks. Each room is unique, I stayed in a 3rd floor king and in a 2nd floor queen, both charming. I'll be back.

It's rustic; certainly not a modern hotel in any sense. Close to Bourbon Street, but that's about it for the pros. The hotel is located on a poorly lit side street; I witnessed a man get mugged in broad daylight right outside the hotel. That being said, do not walk the streets alone. The rooms clearly haven't been updated in the past century, and mine seemed to have a bit of a cockroach problem. The water in the shower starts out cold for the first five minutes and then goes to scalding hot without warning. I've also never really seen anything quite like the Air Conditioner in the room; it rattles all night long, is difficult to adjust and does a poor job at keeping the room cool. I will not be returning.

A great old-school hotel. Actual keys old school. The bed and pillows were fine and there was a fridge in the room. There were limite outlets by the bed unfortunately and the only power expander was on the desk table. The air conditioning worked well considering it was 90+ the entire time. The only real complaints were the bathroom and elevator. The bathroom itself was out of my parents bed room from the 70's. The toilet worked perfectly fine and the sink did too, albeit very old models. The shower did not drain at all while in use and the faucet spit out water even when set to shower head. The elevators were rather slow and one smelled like vomit. Only took that one once or twice fortunately though. Overall a great value, but definite room for improvement.

Great location. Good air conditioning. Mattress not comfortable. Nice pool. Parking is available but didn't know it would cost an additional $30 a day on top of room fee. I felt that it should have been cheaper since room cost wasn't cheap already.

I was in New Orleans for a conference, and rather than stay in the pricey conference hotel by the convention center for a few days recreation, I moved over to the Richelieu for two nights in the French Quarter. I got a ground level room with a window (booked on Expedia) with a Queen sized bed. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the room. Very clean, but with painted brick walls on two sides showing the quaint and historical aspect of the building (a plus for me). Front desk staff were very polite and helpful, too. This hotel is in the somewhat quiet SE corner of the French Quarter, which is great for a good night's sleep, but it is a 2-3 block walk north to Bourbon St, and then about 3 blocks walk down Bourbon St to the craziness. It's also a few blocks from the French Market and the Mississippi River. In other words, ideally located as a "base of operation" for your explorations of the Big Easy, but just out of the way enough that you'll not be disturbed when it's finally time for bed! There is no breakfast included, but there is self-serve coffee in the lobby. I didn't take advantage of the parking, but it was $30 a day, I believe, if that matters to you. I would definitely consider staying here on my next trip to NOLA.

Absolutely discusted! If you want to get screwed out money this hotel is for you, if you would also like to be spoken to condescendingly by the manager by all means stay here! Worst customer service ever by the accounting manager Jo Young! "Maybe you should pay attention to your bank account" said this because she was incompetent and prossessed my payment two weeks after my initial checkout. After I had been assured that the payment had proccessed the day of check in! Beware the Le richelieu vacation-goers!

Great location in the French Quarter. Best of both worlds, quiet yet close to all attractions in French Quarter. The amenities are not modern but it is well worth the trade off to stay in a clean, historic hotel with lots of charm at a good price. Loved the private 3rd floor balcony and the gated on-site parking.

Wasn't that nice and had a bunch of hidden fees. We didn't even know there was parking till the second nice and then got charged for both nights. It was suppose to be 80 bucks and we ended up paying 125.

A wonderful hotel in an historic building. Enjoyed our private balcony and blue bathroom :) Really enjoyed the wrap-around 2nd floor balcony. Really, really enjoyed that this hotel is not directly on Bourbon Street — it was nice to have a quiet place to sleep between the partying.

I love this place. It's close enough to Jackson square and bourbon street but far enough from the madness. :-) The rooms are clean, beautiful. The second floor rooms all lead to a large balcony that overlooks the street. The third floor ones have smaller individual balconies. The staff is friendly and helpful. The price is fair. Parking is available for a fee.

We just got back from halloween in the French Quarter and had the pleasure of staying at le richelieu! What a wonderful experience! We stayed in the Paul McCartney suite WOW. The room was huge and the balcony was incredible. My only gripe was the bathroom. It could use updating and the water doesn't drain very well so during a shower you are in ankle deep water (ew). But talk about location! And the staff was so nice. Thank you le richelieu for the awesome memories. Maybe try and work on that plumbing :)

Lobby was under construction and the staff went way over the top to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Manager and front desk lady were so sweet helping us get our motorcycles parked safe and to our rooms. Beautiful little hotel so close to Bourbon St to walk but far enough to avoid all the goofballs and weirdos. Will definitely come back to this hotel. Can't wait to see the remodel.

Stayed in may and we loved it. Close to everything in the French Quarter and some good eats. Liked the secured parking right on premises Easy in and out with car if needed. Room was clean and in the old style. Of. French quarter.

This hotel was beautiful and inviting. I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff was so kind and helpful. Every request I made was quickly fulfilled. They know the area very well and always gave helpful advice and suggestions. My room was amazing. I will definitely be back!

One of the best things about staying in the French Quarter is NOT being at a cookie cutter chain hotel, but at someplace that has history and character. Le Richelieu Hotel fits the bill perfectly. Yes, some of the features like the plumbing are dated, but that's to be expected, in my opinion. We stayed there for 3 nights, and had a very pleasant stay. Conveniently located to the French Market, Frenchmen Street, etc. It's a short walk to plenty to do. The gated parking area was secure, but easily accessible to guests. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe or bar downstairs, but all of the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend getting a 3rd floor room with a private balcony if you're able, it was nice to sit out side and people watch while having a morning coffee.

One of the greatest boutique hotel I ever stayed in. The bar and restaurant is popular with the locals. I sat next to the great clarinets Pete Fountain at breakfast.

A lovely New Orleans experience that is a more quiet side of the French Quarter, yet still gives walking access to the entire area. At the end of the block is restaurant called Irene's, and between the restaurant and this hotel, it has become the favorite thing to do for the wife and myself. The staff is incredibly helpful and professional. Highly recommend this place! If you intention in going to the French Quarter is to only party it up on Bourbon Street, there may be some other options that are in closer range for you, but for those wanting to really experience the New Orleans French Quarter as a whole, this is the place to go.

Great Location. We had low expectations when we entered this very old historic hotel. We got to our room and were quite impressed with our patio over looking the pool! Can't wait to eat breakfast on it tomorrow morning. The room's bathroom and kitchenette were very dated, but that's the atmosphere here — so far so good! And the Wi-Fi is working great as well.

Stayed there with my husband and my seven-year-old son. We had such a great time. The pool is amazing and the staff is friendly enough. Our room was nice — yeah, so it was old, but that's just the atmosphere of this hotel. Great located in the quarter, you'll have to walk a couple of blocks to hit Jackson Square, but isn't New Orleans the most wonderful place for a walk? There's a coffee shop just behind the hotel — "Envie" it's called. Good place to hand around, plenty of interesting people there. I'm going back to Nola this year and already made my reservation at Le Richelieu.

I stayed in this Hotel over the Essence Festival weekend and had a horrible experience. First let me start by saying that this hotel is only conveniently located if you want to go to the French Market everyday. If you are going to Bourbon Street and other surrounding activities then you will have a distance to walk to those activities. The service here is not great at all. During check-in nothing is explained to you as far as your bill is concerned. They run your credit card without even explaining anything too you. You do not receive anything from them until you check out. Once you check out they charge your card again without even releasing the other money that was on hold. So now you have a double charge. The plumbing in this building is really old and they are refusing to put in new pipes so that makes taking a shower horrible. The water drains extremely slow and it will take exactly 20 minutes before your spouse or other family members can take a shower. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone during Essence Festival or any other time. I will not be coming back to this hotel and I have never had an experience like this before anywhere else. Their customer service really sucks.
