Kudos to the new chef at the hotel restaurant. Best food I've ever had in this area. Try the grilled cheese, the beet salad, or the walleye. Bed is very comfortable. Really nice shower. Lots of towels and electric plugs.

When we arrived from out of town for our stay, we were told we didn’t have a reservation — despite having four confirmation emails. The manager was very rude and unapologetic and did not admit they made the mistake. Luckily my daughter stayed in a friends room and we took her room because he said they were completely booked. Terrible experience.

Had a great week there! My landlord was remodeling my bathroom so we had to find a place to stay for a few nights. 1) it was affordable 2) all the staff were excellent especially the cleaning crew, they made themselves available when we needed them (socially distanced that is) and stayed away when we didn’t! And 3) it’s right downtown Kent close to everything we needed!

Top notch service! We were there tonight for a special event in the conference area. The food and service was fantastic! The lemon chicken and egg plant parm were the best. Also on our way out the front desk employees were very helpful and nice!

Had a wonderful time during our stay to drop off my daughter at the college. This is our third stay at the hotel and it has been great every time. Great service and very appreciative of the upgrade on our last stay. I would definitely recommend splurging on the executive suite. The full fridge is a bonus especially since we always have leftovers from eating out. Very convenient location. Will be back!

The hotel is fairly new and in a great location. Rooms are a generous size and everything was clean and we'll kept. But there are issues of reliability regarding reservations. I had an email confirmation for a reservation but was told at check-in that I had been moved to a waiting list and that there were no rooms available. While I did eventually get one others in my group were moved to another hotel several miles away. The next morning at breakfast I ordered off the menu and was told that it could be up to an hour wait for food because the kitchen was busy attending to a large group in another room. A college football team was staying at this hotel, and manage I chose to ignore their regular guests and not honor some reservations.

The hotel was beautiful. The room was huge with a large king sized bed. And I loved the large bathroom and shower. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was delicious. I had to check in early and they were very pleasant and accommodating.

Great rooms. Host was not the nicest but was acceptable. Service at the bar to the dining area was incredibly slow. The bar/dining area was not busy but took almost a half hour to get a drink. Food was fantastic, even though it took longer than expected to come out. Venue is nice.

The rooms are spacious and the accommodations are nice. The lobby is open and bright with seating and a bar/restaurant. The gym and pool areas were also very nice. I was not impressed with the breakfast because I had higher expectations.

Kent University Hotel advertises itself as a boutique hotel, but doesn't have some of the qualities I have seen in other true boutique hotels. I believe it's just a marketing thing. As a regular hotel it was satisfactory. The lobby area and rooms were clean and comfortable. They have a continental breakfast every morning, much like you see anywhere? Offering an egg dish, bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, really runny oatmeal, juice and coffee. The coffee was good, regular and decaf is available. The "restaurant" they advertised on line is nothing more than a bar with a few tables to the side which are used mainly for breakfast. I didn't see anyone eat dinner there. We attended a wedding reception in one of their conference rooms. It was adequate, although the food that was served wasn't very enjoyable. I'm not sure if it was prepared by the hotel or a caterer but it did leave something to be desired, I couldn't get through half of it. They also have a hot tub and pool which I was told was nice and clean. We didn't use the workout room but it is available for all guests. The staff, all around, was quite friendly and helpful when needed. The hotel is located in what seems to be a newer section of the city, a block away from the university.

This hotel was very nice. Well decorated and well maintained. The staff was welcoming and kind. The common area was esquisite with the huge monitor overlooking the eating area. One thing I noticed was that even though all the floors had vending machines, none of them had anything in them. There was a pantry near the front desk with concessions but at higher prices than the vending machines.

It is a typical 3-star hotel in a college town, with nicely appointed rooms and amenities. Good for any business traveler or for a group, with facilities to hold conferences.

This is a nice place. I could have stayed in the room my whole trip and been satisfied. ;) The bathroom was amazing. They severed great food here. The bar staff was questionable.

Everything is very clean and pristine looking. Service was great, and food served in the banquet hall was delicious. Open air feel in lobby with lots of natural light and plants. Welcoming atmosphere.

Nice place and very good service. The internet is of good quality and the breakfast is standard but with an added bonus of some hot cereal. I would expect for the price that this location would have a hot tub but it doesn't hence the 3.5 stars.

I've stayed here many times since I am a commuter student at Kent State University. This conference center is very clean and pleasant, I've never had any significant issues and I always enjoy the stay. It's extremely convenient for exploring downtown Kent. My only complaint is the included breakfast is small/limited mostly to cold items — cereal, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, oatmeal etc. Staff has always been helpful and friendly.

It was an amazing stay. A lot of things to do or see was close by the hotel. The bedding was very clean. Shower was spacious. Very nice place. Definitely would stay again when in town again.

Great deal and well located in Kent downtown. There is something about those matrasses, I always sleep and rest very well. Breakfast is also pretty good although always the same, still enjoyable.

Have attended several meetings hosted here for work which included over night stays. Accommodations are nice, the bar area is cozy, and food supplied by the hotel staff for lunches and dinners have also been very good. The friendly staff compliments a nice hotel and conference center.

Visited the hotel with work colleagues who were guests. Location is terrific, accommodations are fine. Nice outdoor terrace on the 3rd floor. Bar is ok. Parking situation is a little odd (off-site) but not ridiculous.

You would be better off staying at the Bates Hotel. My family was kicked from our room at 2am due to a loud TV that wasn’t even on. A bag was left in the room as no one was allowed back in to grab all the bags. My father has a heart condition, and my mother fell rushing back to the room to check on him. The security guard, the rudest individual, told the police that my father beat my mother. The security guard told my father that he has no respect for police as, “I’m a security guard, and I have my own badge. ” When we called the next day the hotel told us we would have to wait until the end of the weekend to get our bags that were left. So we had to stay at another hotel for 2 days just to get our bags. When we tried to explain the situation to the front desk, Elana, she HUNG UP! We couldn’t believe it! This was an experience that you would see in a bad soap opera, so outrageous, discourteous. I cannot believe my family was treated this way. The manager, Chris, couldn’t be reached on the weekend since he doesn’t work weekends. Such an unreal experience, they treated us as if we were not even people. Stay at the Holiday Inn Express down the road, good people, great rooms, cleaner just better all around atmosphere.

The place is great. We loved the location. We lived in a room with King size bed. The only reason I gave it one star less is because the bed was more collapsible towards one side and it fatigued my back. Otherwise it was a great experience.

Rooms were nice, clean and warm atmosphere. Costs were increased due to Christmas Holiday where I paid more than $200 for a night and service in bar was terrible! I met several friends there that evening for cards and a drink at the bar (on my tab) and was refused to be served from the bar tender. There were close to 20 people at the bar and he would not serve any of us and asked us to go across the street and purchase liquor to bring back to his bar area. He said it was cold outside and he wanted to get home, though he stayed in the bar area for another 90 minutes cleaning bar glasses. Not what I expect for a $200 night. By the way, I am not a student but a parent!

Growing up in Kent, Ohio I can't believe we have a hotel downtown that's so nice! They really went out of their way to treat me well and the accommodations were top notch! I can't recommend this place enough if you are visiting the area. Walking distance to everywhere!

The hotel itself is very nice. The room was spacious. The staff at the front desk, and the guy who brought a roll-away bed to the room were very nice and helpful. Even the continental breakfast was better than I expected. Would recommend.

I usually don’t give reviews but I am impressed by their good service, diversity in employees and rates. Not forgetting the very spacious rooms and quality furniture.

The location seemed nice. It was very clean, which is more than I can say for most hotels. Food was Good, but not great. Overall a pleasant, but not outstanding.

We spent two nights. The rooms were big and clean. The staff was great and friendly. The pastries in the morning are amazing. The only complaints we have are there is no on site parking. There is a parking garage across the street and there is no true loading and unloading area. My wife and I were traveling with a 1 month old baby and my mother in law who has a hard time walking. When we got to the hotel there 4 cars parked in the unloading area and we could not park near the hotel. We had to park a block away in the rain. The hotel staff didn't seem to care that people were parking there because it was free and then going to one of the many other businesses.

Nice venue, attended the Water and Land symposium held there recently. The building looks very modern inside and you couldn't hear the presentations going on in the adjacent rooms at all. The proximity to Kent State campus is a huge plus and there's also a parking garage incredibly close by which was very convenient.

I've been to multiple conferences/symposiums at this hotel and it's always great. The facilities are beautiful and modern, the rooms are clean and aesthetically pleasing, and it's within walking distance to lots of great bars and restaurants.

The location is easy to get to, close to a parking garage, and very nice inside. The food service was excellent and all the staff was friendly and helpful. This is a great venue for meetings and conferences.

Had a really nice time here, we got a 7 person suite but only had four because the others that were supposed to go down, didn't. But we had a really good time and I enjoyed the kitchen and the pull out bed. We stayed two nights and the cleaning staff was really friendly got us anything we needed.

Rooms are very nice with comfortable beds. Bathroom is spacious, but toilet area is small, which prohibits one from thoroughly cleaning themselves after going. It's all about the finer details that keeps people coming back. Things like not installing a toilet paper dispenser next to your legs, because this forces one to sit at an angle on the toilet causing one's legs to be up against the shower wall. Enough about the toilet/placement issues. Room service is very expensive, food is good, but just good and coffee is bad, way, way too strong. Bitter. Staff is professional and polite. Would I stay again, maybe. Need to receive a deal, as parking is $10/day, another downside, and I have to go to the lobby restroom.

We celebrated a great union of marriage over the weekend in Kent for family and friends. A very magical day and evening quickly transformed into one of abrupt disrespect from the management at the Kent State University Hotel. As a traveler who frequently has to stay in hotels for work, I can say that their "policies" and treatment of guests was outlandish, bizarre and sincerely unwarranted. After the wedding, close family and friends returned to their rooms in our hotel block and gathered in the Executive Suite for the final goodbyes to cap off the night. Knock, knock, knock at the door. Who is it? None other than the hotel management saying we were too loud and there were noise complaints. I can say that we were not being loud and as a savvy researcher of online reviews, you will say I am biased. Fair. We accepted the complaint, began talking in a whisper and even moved over to the outside portion of the room to ensure we were away from neighboring walls. Meanwhile, this is all approximately 11pm on a Saturday night. There could have been the Kent State fraternity on the second floor doing kegstands for all we know, but the management decided to laser in on us. After only 10 minutes, the front desk worker returned with a security guard saying that we now had our 2nd warning and would evict us on the third. Okay. So what do you do? Why would you get the Executive Suite if you can only have two people in it playing backgammon on a Saturday night?

Stylish hotel. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Wallpaper was a bit distracting. Food was excellent. Breakfast was great.

Great location. Lots of bars and restaurants within 2 blocks of the hotel. Parking right across the street. Hotel itself is very nice. Rooms are great, very clean with comfortable beds.

Our late night dinner last night was FABULOUS, and the staff was amazing. My colleague and I shared the delicious walleye dinner. And the staff split the soup and salad so we could both enjoy. Hotel dining can sometimes be less than satisfying, but tgis experience was spot on.

The room is spacious and comfortable with refrigerator and microwave. I never noticed hotel room cleaning staff. Hallways and corridors are tidy and clean. Bathroom has a modern feel. Location includes a parking garage across the street. Because it is part of Kent's downtown, a range of restaurants and stores are in comfortable walking range. Streets are clean and detailed with brick walkways. Having lived in a college town, this was a surprisingly step up in style and openness. Costs are reasonable.

Nice, comparable to other event venues. Buffet was good but being at the end of the line food was warm not hot. Table service, as in picking up plates and glasses, was slow but could have reflected the details of the event staff planners. Would be happy to go again and hope for hot food.

Food was good, but service was not as good as I would have expected. Server didn't seem to know the beer list and didn't mention any of the draft beers. Later we asked again specifically about draft beers and my husband ordered one. It ended up coming after our food, and only because my husband reminded another server that he was waiting on it.

This is a very professional, clean, and comfortable hotel. The rooms are a nice size, well-furnished, and nicely maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the bar has good drinks and atmosphere. It is within walking distance of some great bars and restaurants.

They kicked us out of the hotel due to a noise complaint while we were leaving for downtown. No one tried to contact anyone in our group or inform us we wouldn't be allowed to reenter the building. So when we returned from the bars at 3 in the morning our stuff was on the sidewalk and we were left to sleep in our cars. Completely unprofessional how it was handled. This would have been a great place to stay if they had handled the situation more accordingly.

Very comfortable stay. Hotel was very clean and complimentary breakfast was great! They had fresh berries and yogurt — until I ate them all. Muhahahaha! -berry monster.

Just this past weekend I had a 2 day conference at the hotel. Everything about it went amazingly. From the A/V help, to the Wi-Fi, to the amazing food on Sunday and the beverage service all day both days. We had nothing but glowing reviews of our venue and their service from all of our attendee's, including those who also booked and stayed at the hotel. I highly recommend anyone looking for a venue for a conference speak with Sage and her team.

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. They gave away our reserved suite (reserved for over 4 months) and we ended up in 2 conjoining standard rooms instead. Before arriving I was already VERY upset with the hotel. But it got worse! When we arrived we laid our 3 year old son down in the bed in room 218 (5/27/16) and after 45 minutes I went in to check on him from our conjoining room 219 and found 4 bed bugs on his pillow and sheets near him. We had to move all our stuff and sleeping children in the middle of the night. (11:30pm) I don't believe the bed bugs followed us thank goodness. We ended up in rooms 426 and 427. The hotel did comp our entire stay as we were not able to really leave since we were attending a wedding on site and had a babysitter coming to watch our children so we could attend. We did notice some sort of bug exterminator coming in the next morning. After our stay I do understand why people gave it good reviews overall it is a nice hotel. However I can not look over the fact that they gave away our reservation and were not willing to make it right by calling the last person that reserved a suite to explain that they double booked. And ESPECIALLY can't overlook that they had bed bugs.

I have had a few banquets here and it is the most beautiful hotel in Kent. The building is sparkling new and the service and food is delicious. There is a large wall of TV's in the hotel restaurant, and the whole building is very fancy. Staff is pleasant and provided good service. I always look forward to coming here.

The room I visited was confronted by security claiming a noise complaint resulted on our room. So we turned off the TV and music. Less than a minute later we got a visit from the front desk attendee, saying the music was too loud. Which was impossible. Two minutes afterward, we got a call saying our room's music was too loud. Which was also impossible, because we were nearly out the door. We then heard extremely loud music in the hallway, which seemed to be coming from above us (the 3rd floor). We go to the front desk to address it, and we are ignored, then told "It was confirmed to be your room". I don't even know what to say beyond that. Unbelievable.

I visited for a conference, but did not experience the rooms. All else was great. The staff was polite and extremely helpful, and the dining was high quality. I would definitely visit again.

What a great place to have in Downtown Kent. The staff are amazing and the rooms are gorgeous. Close to everything! The only thing I would change is the lighting, was a bit dark at times but that's the only complaint. Can't wait to come back!

We've been there a few times and really enjoyed it. Our visits were for large events. The service was very good and invisible. The food was also quite good. Frequently, the food at events for 100+ can be pretty bad, but we have been pleasantly surprised on every occassion. It can be a little pricey but not too bad. The meal was worth the money.
I would definitely recommend them for a large function. (That is my only experience w them)
