A couple hours before our reservation Ashley called me and told me we would be charged extra to use the pool. I was upset because it was a non refundable room. I was told there would be no continental breakfast and it would be $20 per person per day for us to use the pool. Than she hung up on me when I was asking to talk to a manager because she didn’t know if my room could be refunded. Needless to say I will not be going there. My two young children are very disappointed. This is unacceptable. This should be clearly listed on there website.

We weren't allowed In pool I live 2 hours away when I called they said it was open? Dirty beds with poop on sheets they should change the sheets.

This hotel is disgusting
They do shady business of charging guests an extra $20 cash to use their pool. The hallway carpets were stained the couch in the room was stained, comforter had burn hole. No ventilation what so ever in he bathroom the ac unit was broke. It is extremely run down not to mention the staff is awful. I will never book with choice hotel again
The pool looks fun but once in the area it’s so over chlorinated due to them not properly maintaining it. You can hardly breathe and you can see how dirty the pool and water are. It’s just awful.

Pool area, floors, and water were extremely dirty. Hot tub and sauna both broken. Both the air and water temperature in pool room were very cold. Our room refrigerator and bathroom vent didn't work and our curtains hung off the track. Bfast was good but very crowded. Staff was friendly and courteous.

My husband and I were gifted a weekend away, and we chose this hotel because our usual spot was booked. We were so disappointed… the carpets were stained, the chair in our room was stained, and we had to request a new bed skirt because there were quite a few very obvious spots all around it. I'm honestly not sure how the housekeepers didn't notice them! The ceiling above our hot tub had water damage, as well. The receptionist was so sweet, and the rest of the staff was friendly enough, but we will not be back after that experience.

It was very clean! the indoor water park was awesome! the price was very reasonable!

I had a reservation on 7/19/19 we got there got checked in and was given room 218. After being there for 2 to 3 hours I was told that my card decline very rudely in front of the other guest. I went to check my account, see that the charge was pending on my account called my card company was told that it was pre-authorized for the stay. I informed the manager even showed her where its states on my online account where it clearly states that it was for Comfort Inn and Suites. The manager continued to be rude and demanding another card which I refuse to give another one. She was stomping her feet and waving her arms like a little child. So to keep thing from escalating we contacted the local police for assistance but by that time I no longer wanted to stay there anymore. I am still out the money that was taken. That they claim was declined. The sad part is I have stay here before and didn't have any issues and my kids love this hotel. I will never return. Until I get my money back I will continued to post on here and any site related to this company.

I go once a month or more me and my kids favorite place to get away and chill! Its always clean and very well managed never had any problems!

Will not let you supervise your children in the pool without a wrist band! You only get 4 per room so if you have 4 kids who want to swim you better pray they don’t drown because there’s no lifeguard and they don’t care if there is a parent present! Not family friendly!

This hotel is extremely racist very fun for kids definitely but they will accuse you of any and everything I went there for my 3 year old to enjoy her birthday off top I had to wait 3 hours to get in my room because the system was down … after that I get a broke room the system wouldn’t work so they put me in any room suite 201 broke tub … messed up toilet ac leaking they fixed tub second day but nothing else at checkout they took $25 off each night because of the issues (nothing right) than a lady kept coming in saying she smell smoke all kind of weird stuff my kids has asthma so I would be a deadbeat to even smoke in the same room as them on top of that I don’t smoke so someone else cane she said she didn’t smell it … we leave I recorded and took photos of everything just because I know they was acting extremely weird so I wanted to show proof of everything even to where I couldn’t get back in the doors after check out 2. Days later my husband card was charged a extra $300 we call they say damages and missing items so now next step is taking them to court I thank God I have all this proof and I’m not taking this little I’m taking this really far cause they probably do this to soooo many people so just be aware I wish I could give 0 stars … I absolutely love everything else pool is awesome for the kids seriously I wish they didn’t do us like that it hurts my heart cause otherwise I love the hotel just hate how they did us.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I URGE YOU TO READ THE OTHER REVIEWS AS WELL! We stayed here before and the staff is unpleasant and rude and the place is just dirty! The AC didn't work and they had to change our room and then we went to go use the pool and it was disgustingly hot in there. My 5 year old of course had a blast though. Months later we decided to use them again for her birthday because she asked us to. I ended up in the hospital and unable to make our reservation. When I could finally speak and was able to call them I explained what happened and was told my $434 was not going to be refunded! I was physically unable to call due to being in the hospital and desperately needed that money for medications and care after I was to be released and the owner could not have cared less. They are a despicable business and the hotel is just gross and I'm extremely happy we did not catch the same BED BUGS as some of the other reviewers.

I would not recommend this hotel during the hot summer months. 1st the air conditioning in the room 422 was very poor. I pulled the filter screens and they were plugged. The room was miserably warm! the play pool is fun for the kids but every adult is suffering from how hot it is. There is no area to sit where you can get cool air circulating, the entire pool enclosure is a humid hot box. A lot of black mold on pool surrounding floor and toys/slides but the water did not smell musty. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean. But over all was very disappointing stay.

I stayed here two nights for a couple races I was running. I mentioned to them I chose this place because of the hot tub and they said it was working. When I went to use it after the first race it was not working. That night the air conditioning wasn't working properly in my room and I couldn't get it below 78°, I was up most of the night sweating. After getting home I noticed a $60 charge on my credit card and called to find out why they charged me extra. They said a few of the towels had mud on them and were now unusable. There was also another $2 charge for a safe fee they reversed during the call. It looks like they add charges hoping you don't call. Don't go here if you plan on using the hot tub, want AC, or use towels. They don't know how to wash them and will charge you extra.

This place was disgusting. It looked good on the outside but was not taken care of on the inside. My room had BED BUGS in it. (See photos) and they moved me to another room that was also dirty and had candy wrappers, socks and a hair extension behind the beds and tables. They moved all my stuff when I wasn't there, without my permission and without even notifying me. I got back to the hotel and walked into an empty room. Then I waited for concierge for 20 minutes. The woman didn't know what happened to my stuff and ended up having to call a housekeeper to find out where it was. Absolutely terrible service. They then refused to refund me because they did an investigation with Portage County Dept of Health that "proved" there were no bed bugs. But that is because they took all the sheets and mattresses out of the room. I saw the mattresses in an unused room on the first floor through a window. If you are in Kent, DO NOT STAY HERE. Their customer service sucked, they were supposed to send me a letter and supposed to call me and never did. I had to call Choice Hotels 6 TIMES and still no solution. Absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself the trouble and stay at the Kent State University Hotel.

It is a good hotel the breakfast food sucks but the staff is very nice the rooms were good amazing pool like seriously it feels like you are in a water park. The pool gets 5/5 stars, breakfast gets 1/5 stars, service gets 5/5 stars rooms 4/5 stars. Good job I recommend it. Hotel overall 4/5 stars. For breakfast go to McDonald’s or something. Overall good I will be coming back (:

Stayed in the king suite with a Jacuzzi bath. Room was clean, quiet, and very nice. The hotel is a bit hard to turn left into if you're coming from the freeway. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Great experience.

We had a wonderful weekend! When we arrived check-in was short and simple. The room was ready. The staff was great. And the water park was perfect for my 2 and 6 year old. The thing that made this perfect was housekeeping knocked on the door to make sure everything was done perfectly. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Front dest called me at 10:25pm stating there was a complaint that my room was too noisy… at that time we were in bed watching tv… um no we were not. Slide was closed… pool was closed the next moring for chemical issues.

I have been to this hotel a few times and it has slowly gotten worse and worse throughout that time. This last visit made it so that we will NEVER return. The ONE great aspect of our stay was having the front desk person, Julie, go WAY above and beyond what we would ever expect for amazing customer service. We arrived at 3 pm, our stated check in time, and were told our room was "not ready". While this probably would have been okay with us, the fact that the "manager" (Mandy) was EXTREMELY rude and obnoxious and several members of the staff (guessing housekeeping as they had on matching black smocks) were all standing around laughing and joking with this supposed manager. We tried again at 4:00 after there appeared to be a shift change and that was our first encounter with Julie. She not only apologized numerous time but also did everything in her power to get someone to clean our room that we had already started paying for at 3:00 pm. It took until almost 5:00 to get in our room and it was a disaster, like the housekeeping staff had started but decided they were done. AGAIN, Julie came to our rescue and got our room in order and AGAIN offered sincere apologies. We finally got to take the kids to the pool which was was dirty and offers guests the option of a delightful broken slide. The entire time we were in the pool we saw one staff member working, and yet again it was Julie.

It’s amazing what a few months will do! I had a awful experience months ago, and was never going to go back, but my daughter had my granddaughters birthday party there so I reluctantly went. My first impression upon walking in was that the once shabby lobby was newly renovated and immaculate! I went to check in and the gal Julie was wonderful, extremely professional, and very personable. Next up to my room which to my surprise was clean clean clean! Bed was super comfortable, and I noticed my comforter and pillows were brand new which is a huge plus. The rooms are slightly worn but I was told that along with the lobby, the entire hotel will be renovated as well. The best part was the pool! Again incredibly clean, water was clear and chlorine levels perfect. Towels fully stocked and bathroom was constantly cleaned and floor dried from all the swimmers which I appreciated, as nothing worse than a flooded bathroom. Breakfast was really good with a lot of different options, however the only issue I had was the breakfast attendant didn’t keep the food stocked enough and seemed agitated when asked for eggs. I’m so glad my daughter convinced me to go back, all the changes to the hotel and the staff has made it worthy of 5 stars. I definitely will be back. Joyce.

PROS: Friendly staff CONS: Pool area was overcrowded. The hotels policy states you need a wrist band to enter. Their were more people swimming without wristbands than those who had them. I get the vibe that this is a spot where locals sneak in and swim. The wrist band policy is not enforced. Also. It says no food or beverage inside the swimming area. That is not enforced either. Multiple families with 22oz Miller lites explains it all. Comfort Inn — Splash Harbor in (Bellvue) did not have these problems. They had someone on staff to lightly moderate the pool area.

Amazing experience! from the AWESOME front desk ladies Jennifer and Julie who checked us in quickly and deserve a medal and a raise for putting up with us and everyone else! Rooms were clean, maybe a little worn but I was told renovations on the rooms are coming up soon. Bed was comfortable and even though the hotel seemed packed it was overall very quiet. The recently renovated lobby was immaculate. The pool was incredible! Super clean and not too crowded. They kept the towels fully stocked and even made sure the bathroom floors were mopped and dried. I highly suggest this hotel for a weekend getaway with the family. Only downside is we had to leave.

Honestly I wish there was a 0 star rating, but I’ll just get straight to the point. If you like bed bugs this hotel is the perfect place for you! If you don’t well then take my advice and stay away from that hotel!

Our kids LOVE to come for 2 days and enjoy the pool, but our last stay was the worst ever! Received a handicap room for a non-handicap family so no counter space in the bathroom, shower head did not work past a trickle, and heater would NOT shut off! So when we arrived back from the pool it was 78 degrees in the room. After someone came up, we got it to shut off and it then was freezing when we arrived from dinner. We tried it again, and the heat got so high that my 6 year old woke us vomiting at midnight. When the front desk lady came to change the sheets she had to prop the door open to the hall so we could function. (There were no rooms to move us to. ) After we attempted to shower our little one and the heat wouldn't quit, we called our outing short and left at 1 AM. I called the next day to make sure they had us as checked out and to dispute charges due to the condition of the room and the clerk called me an "A%$hole". So I disputed with corporate and their response was they we checked in at 2 PM and didn't leave until 1 PM and we used the pool, so we got 12 hours of use in so no need to reimburse us. RIDICULOUS! They could have had a customer for life by meeting me halfway, but instead I was called names and treated like I was some liar trying to get a freebie. Well, Comfort Inn in Kent … you will NEVER see us again, and I will tell everyone I talk to what a horrible place you have!

Nice size rooms. Ok breakfast. Service sucked. Our first night was good. Was gone most of the day. Got back around 3 exhausted from my child’s school event in this area. Our beds were made but that was it. Trash wasn’t emptied and our dirty towels were gone but not replaced. Called down to ask for towels lady said they were in the dryer. About an hour later went down to the desk and the lady was rude. “ We were full last night we are working on it I can give you a pool towel. “ After a few more hours We went back down and had to be a little more stern. I have never had to fight staff at a hotel to get towels!

Room was not cleaned. No trash bags in cans. No hand towels or wash cloths in bathroom. Wadded toilet paper on ceiling and over smoke detector. Smelled of cigarettes. Staff was very nice but did not compensate for issues. Choice 1-800 number was very unprofessional. They over charged me $55 and refused to refund it or credit me towards my stay. I will never use choice 1-800 number again. Your better off just calling the hotel for reservations. I've been a member for 15 years. Very disappointed with my experience on this stay.

The chlorine in the pool was so strong you could hardly breathe, we had to leave the pool after a very short time, we got a roll away bed and it had food in it. Breakfast wasn't very good. The waffle mix was out and the eggs were so old I couldn't cut them with my fork. I will say Jeff at the Fri desk was awesome and tried to be very helpful.

It was an excellent stay and our kids loved the pool area. The lobby area is currently undergoing some cosmetic renovations, but I didn't hold that against them in my reviews (unlike some) as it did not disturb me at all (after all, when does one expect this to be done? ). The only "ding" I gave were the pillows. Not very comfortable, but that's minor. Staff were very friendly and room was very comfy and clean! We'll definitely recommend this property and stay here again!

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! They charged my card almost $200 for a comforter and when I tried to call and get pictures and or speak to the owner I could never get past the general manager. She was extremely rude and basically told me owell to the comforter and I shouldn't have damaged it. Even when I told her I never used the comforter and can they send pics of proof she said I would have to come to hotel… knowing I'm not from Kent! It is Nov 27th and still I have no reply from manager the owner and my stay was Nov 4th… or pictures to my email. Si basically they took my money and I have yet to see why.

We have stayed many times before as loyal customers. This time was a mess. Apparently a birthday party was being held the night of our stay and ourselves and another loyal customer we met that evening felt pushed out of the pool area by the less than favorable party goers. Cops had to be called, children running above us the entire night, loud screaming in the hallway. Just not the experience we expected from prior stays. Then we went down for breakfast pretty much everything was empty. I expressed my concerns with the GM Mandy and she was very rude and made statements that were false. Then I was told the owner was away in India and no one was aloud to place orders when he was away. How was that our problem? Just a really bad experience and not sure we will ever visit a Choice hotel again. Especially that particular one.

I stayed at the comfort inn over the weekend. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised with how well that this hotel was kept up. The main lobby was pleasantly fresh and very welcoming. However I was really impressed, almost amazed actually that my room 220, not only matched the impressiveness of the front lobby but exceeded it. Although it was clear that there were several things that obviously needed replacing, It's instantly apparent that the efforts put in by this housekeeping staff was extraordinary. I'm very particular when it comes to cleanliness, But I would honestly give this hotel a 5 star rating easily on the satisfaction of how clean and presentable this establishment is maintained. It was a very pleasant stay. I definitely will be returning. Anything I asked for the hotel employees were very helpful.

Very nice hotel, our room was clean & comfortable. We had no idea their pool area was going to be as awesome as it was, so glad we ended up staying here. My kids slept so well after playing in the pool, which I was grateful for after being trapped in a vehicle all day. We had no issues with the internet. Big thumbs up from me, I recommend staying here if you have the points to spend or the cash.

Hotel was clean, breakfast was better than average, easy check-in. But, furnishings/decor are clearly worn. Staff is polite, but seemed always tired. Bathroom configuration is ridiculous for people with long legs. Our room door was open when we came in, at check-in time. A fine, average, stay. Not memorable. Stay again? Sure. First choice? No.

It was great, very friendly staff. Room was clean, we didn't hear any other guest and there were 2 rooms next to us with smaller children. The water park is great, my husband and I went down the enclosed water slide. They have a nice little sauna, restrooms and a locker room in the water park area. It only goes to 4 and a half feet deep, though. The breakfast area could have a better lay out and maybe add more to the breakfast.

Kids loved it great pool for kids. Breakfast good choices. Only issue I had was lights outside making it hard to sleep curtains do not cover outside lights from shining into our room at night.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Kent, OH Friday, August 18-20th. My fiance, David, and I were put in room 319. We could not figure out how to use the television and the next day, when I asked what to do — the service desk person was not surprised and said that the people who stayed there before were having trouble, too (So why didn't they check it before we came? ). There were also some brown marks on our wall that may have been coffee grounds splashed up. Also, our p…lunger for our sink was broken, so they just left the cover on the counter. Other than that, our room was a fine. However, we also booked room 207 for my family. This was a disaster. First off, I had asked the front desk if we could switch to two double beds instead of a king and pull out couch and she said yes and that she booked me the last room available. But when my family checked in, it was two beds. The door was left open and we were not sure if someone else had the room. When we walked in, there was an unfolded towel just crumpled up on the coffee table. We were not sure if it was used or not. The rest of the room looked clean. I went to the front desk to ask about the double beds and they said the person before did not reserve it properly and that they were fully booked. I let them know about the unlocked door and the towel. Next, there was no remote for the TV in the room. When my father called down to the desk, he was told that there was, indeed, a remote.

My stay was horrible! The sink & Tub was stopped up… to make matters worse I couldn't sleep because me and my mother was getting ate up by beds… when I called the front desk to notify them… she assumed I wanted a refund… I had said nothing about a refund at all… but if I could have my money back I would greatly appreciate it. The manager Mandy was rude and argumentative… she needs to know that stereotyping is a form of discrimination.

In short, great staff and dirty bathroom. Arrived and somehow our reservation for one room had turn into three. However, Jen, the lady at the desk, made sure to help us and canceled the added reservations. She was very friendly. Room was fairly clean, with clean beds and furnishings, but also had a small splotch black mold was in the shower. The shower floor was dirty and sticky. Water buildup on the sink tap underside to provide nasty taste on toothbrush. One elevator creaked and shuddered, which was slightly unnerving. I dislike small spaces to begin with, but the creaking just made it seem old and liable to breakdown at any time. Great breakfast options. Looking at the official 2 star rating, it has what you'd expect.

Great hotel. Convenient location right off the freeway. The pool is fantastic, basically a mini water park. The kids loved it. The breakfast was ok. Nothing to write home about. We have a large family and it really worked out well for us. We got the large suite and it fit all of us. Staff was very friendly.

Went to restroom at 1130 at night found a big bedbug crawling on the floor. I showed it to the front desk girl, she called the owner and he did not seem to concerned. Said he would give a refund. Waited 2 weeks. No check. Called again and again with no response. Never received a check after more than a month. I was trying to be nice but I will now post the pictures. I feel they never had the room exterminated. Our friends stayed another night but we went somewhere else. To top it off, I also had the largest silverfish bug crawling up my back in bed. Yucky! Never will go back. They did have a nice pool with a slide though.

We had my daughters birthday party here and all of the kids loved it. Had a 2 room suite and the indoor water park was amazing. Thank you for a great time.

The place seems popular, decent price, good bed, clean room. Not a bad place. The staff and owner were very patient with us.

Very nice. Extremely nice pool area! Clean and quiet rooms. Fitness room is basic but hotel is 5 minutes from a Planet Fitness. This will be my go-to hotel if ever I'm in the area again.

Our 3rd time staying here. This has become our home away from home when visiting Kent. Rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast is good, and the pool is nice.

The staff and the pool area are very nice, but the rooms are older and configured strangely. The rooms could be cleaned better. I would give this hotel 2.5 stars if I could.

We loved the Comfort Inn of Kent! Kelsi, who checked us in last night was awesome! The staff has been very friendly! The kids loved the pool! And breakfast was good too! Thanks for an awesome mini vacation!

Location was great. Just off of I 70 near Kent and less than 10 minutes from the gorgeous heart of town. The pool and waterslide were great for the kids, although there was absolutely no supervision. Kids climbing atop one another in the "adult" hot tub. Rooms were clean and spacious. They need at least one employee in the pool area, especially when they host birthday parties.

I would normally rate it at 4 stars because we come here multiple times a year! My children and I absolutley love the pool, slides, and hot tub! But this last Sunday we stayed here and the pool and hot tub was disgusting! The pool was very cloudy and normally when you walk in the pool area you can smell the chlorine this time you could not smell any chlorine at all! The hot tub was gray and smelled like urine very badly! The smell was soooo overwhelming my kids and I almost puked! The pool area was so hot you could barely breathe! By the time my kids were done swimming their bathing suits and bodies stunk soooo bad we had to shower them off 2 times! I really wanted to have my daughters birthday party here this month but now I'm not so sure if I should! : (

I stayed at this hotel and it was a bad experience. My sister and I stayed on a saturday night… The general manager completely messed up my reservation refused to fix it and then charged me to be in a 2 room suite when I'm handicapped and requested that. Then she argued with me but I didn't have a choice and had to stay. The breakfast stocker wouldn't give my sister anymore tea because she said " ma'am it's 9:02 and it's closed so I don't know what to tell you". The only nice person working here was the kid in the pool, he was funny and held conversation with me and treated us well. The pool was nice and he kept it clean. I don't recommend this to anyone that's in the area, they need a new staff…
