Reviews of Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza 4*
Great ambiance at the lobby bar but rooms need updating and rooms are not cleaned unless specifically requested.
The room we had reserved with 2 beds was given away. We ended up in a room with 1 bed instead of 2. Room not cleaned, when we requested to have it cleaned we were told “that’s probably not going to happen”. No clean towels available. Would not recommend anyone to stay here.
I would NOT recommend this hotel. I was there for 4 days for a conference. My room was not cleaned the entire time we were there. When we called to request it, the front desk person (exceptionally rude) stated “well yeah that’s not happening”. Restaurant person Chris was rude as well. My party was advised that we could sit in the lobby to eat our food because the restaurant closes at 10p …even on weekends. While sitting in the lobby we were asked to “go to our rooms because they needed to clean the lobby floors”. So There was staff I guess to clean the floors but no staff to clean the rooms. Day 2 we ran out of toilet paper and was told to use tissue. Day 2 ran out of towels and was told “sorry we don’t have any” and then towels were delivered— I’ve attached a picture of the dirty towels. The toilet had feminine blood splatter when we first arrived. We requested that they clean — Front desk now house keeping answered the phone. I went to the front desk — I asked why no one had answered the phone? She stated “oh we dont have time for that”. I asked for a manager she gave me the front desk general email “send it here he’ll get it”. I’m my years of travel I can honestly say I’ve never had such an abismal customer experience. My colleagues and I are looking to cancel our Hilton honors and sell Hilton vacation club. If you are trying to stay here don’t be fooled by marketing pics.
I was Impressed. Great Service. They had Live Entertainment that was Entertaining. Great Job.
Thank you to our favorite concierge, Kelly, for making our stay at the Hilton Netherlands Plaza the best! Kelly was so helpful with suggestions of the best places to visit while we were there. He made us feel like family. We will be back!
This is the plainest, most basic room imaginable. Where do I begin? WORST HOTEL STAY EVER! So many issues. Small things like only being given 1/2 roll of toilet paper and the shampoo was already used by someone else. The pillows SUCK. They are extremely flat and uncomfortable. We asked FOUR times to have them replaced before anyone brought us different pillows. They were even worse than the ones we already had! The HVAC wasn’t working. Our room was 78 degrees with no means of cooling it. We were given a box fan for the inconvenience. The man at the front desk moved us a different room. Naturally they downgraded us. The HVAC in that room did not work either so we moved ourselves back to our original room. There is no hot water. In the entire hotel. We booked a room with a jetted tub which is, of course useless. We have heard that some rooms do not have water at all. Last night we were given a $50 food credit but guess what — kitchen is closed due to the water issue. We have made at least 4 trips to the front desk. The staff is very blasé about the entire affair. I could not be more disappointed. We will never stay here again! We should have gone to Motel 6. They leave the light on for you and probably have hot water too!
One of my favorite Hilton’s in Cincinnati. This place is beautiful, very clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and professional. The restaurant and bar are convenient and everything was delicious. The location was perfect and in walking distance to Fountain Square.
Beautiful location and establishment.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms and good food.
We are on our third night at this Hilton. Pros: room was a great corner room overlooking the river. Staff was pleasant. Enjoyed the bar for happy hours. Cons: room was dirty and dusty. Behind commode was disgusting. They don’t have daily maid service so you have to request everything. Requested coffee pods for coffee maker…they were out. Hubby went to lobby this morning to get 2 cups and they only had enough for 1 cup. No bar soap for hand washing so requested some…they were out. I quit asking for stuff.
Every employee was unpleasant and unhappy with their job.
doorman.
front desk. (so many mistakes)
especially the entire restaurant staff.
The place was very cozy, I absolutely loved it! 😍😍 the service was exceptional, the food was also great (i swear! a must try).
The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions.
Rooms very clean. Great location.
This tag is amazing! I’ve been thoroughly impressed!
Such a different and wonderful experience being in a historic building. Staff was top notch.
Incredible place. The staff was great! odd night time building noises but I loved them!
We thoroughly enjoyed the terrific staff and amazing sights at this majestic, French Art Deco historical hotel. Everything was wonderful, from our spacious, two bathroom Jr. Suite to the incredible food & drinks at the Palm Court Lounge (which featured a weekend evening Jazz duo). Downtown Cincinnati was just outside and the riverfront parks and craft beer eateries a short walk away. It was definitely a sensory experience and we can’t wait to stay there again. Thanks Matt, Amy, Chris and everyone for a perfect wedding weekend.
Close to everything! Duke Energy Convention Center, Paul Brown Stadium, Newport Aquarium, Morton's Steak House, Ice Skating and much more. Very friendly, helpful and courteous staff!
Loving my spacious room and enjoying my stay.
Very nice place and convenient location.
Gorgeous room, and view. Only negative is Lavender soap, I hate lavender.
Staff is friendly, rooms are older but quiet and well maintained. Appropriate COVID-19 precautions. Masks, social distancing, limited people on elevators, sealed rooms, etc. Some amenities like room service aren’t available and lots of shops closed but it didn’t disrupt our experience. We enjoyed the hotel bar where they had an excellent jazz band. Also pet friendly. Only downside there really isn’t a great place to take pets outside. Lots of construction in the area. Good attached parking.
They can’t get their rooms right. They gave me 3 rooms which all were occupied finally on the 4th time I got an unoccupied room.
Wonderful people and service' Beautiful hotel!
We have travelled a lot and this hotel just blew us away… it’s like taking a step back in time to the glamorous 30’s… it really is just exquisite! The restaurant food and wine is amazing and the staff are so professional, helpful & friendly. Sabrina and her colleagues went above and beyond for us and our family! We cannot wait to return!
We flew in for a wedding! Have never stayed at this Hilton before, it was amazing and so was the staff! We enjoyed our week, felt like royalty! Loved Cincinnati! Will be back.
Have been trying to cancel with Hotelbeds and Priceline and talked to 2 nice staff but hotel will not let me cancel due to the global pandemic since I did not book directly. Won’t stay with Hilton or book with Priceline again.
I had a wonderful hotel experience. Front office was very friendly and allowed me to upgrade my room. Live Jazz band on Friday & Saturday nights. Very nice romantic getaway!
The Orchid at Palm Court is a favorite date night location. We look forward to the amazing cocktails, relaxing music and intimate conversations with a small party of friends.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Beautiful, old hotel. Awesome drinks and food. Bayla was a great server and accommodated our big party.
Very friendly service and great atmosphere.
In regards to the Orchards for tea during Christmas time, don’t waste your money! Horrible service, rude management and completely outrageous prices for what is provided. We have been doing this for a couple of years and it has definitely gone down hill this year. So completely unsatisfied and disappointed in tea this year.
Beautiful historical hotel. Small suites are two old rooms converted to a single room with two bathrooms. Great location and brunch at The Palms is a must!
Beautiful hotel. Helpful and attentive staff.
Great Staff, and all were very helpful.
Great location, terrific view of the Ohio River, superb staff.
One of the best hotel, perfect place to stay for holiday…
Loved staying here while attending my pure romance convention! Excellent hotel staff Julia at the front desk was extremely helpful.
Great place and nice staff!
We loved our stay here! It felt like stepping back in time or boarding the Titanic with it’s beautiful design. Our room was not correct in the system when we arrived, but the staff went out of their way to make everything right and ensure that our stay was wonderful! We will definitely be back!
Our daughter got very sick the morning we were checking out… they brought us clean sheets, bags for the road, Gatorade… the staff was extremely caring & helpful. Highly recommend this hotel for a family ❤️
Beautiful structure. I loved the feeling of stepping back in time. Rooms very clean and simple. Still that retro experience. Staff courteous as well.
Yes the rooms are small, but the hotel was built in the 30s. Rooms were small then. I loved the Art Deco and how they have kept as much original as possible. It’s a very beautiful hotel! We stayed because we went to a Reds game a couple weeks ago. We will never stay anywhere else again. Within walking distance to the stadiums and super great staff. We will be back again soon! It was very reasonably priced for a Hilton. We expected it to be higher.
I loved this hotel. The charm was great, location was even better. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only issue, which isn't too big, is the walls are paper thin. I could hear every conversation in the room next door. Toilet flushing, peeing, all of it. Great place otherwise, no issues.
Fabulous Hilton downtown hotel! Great service, facilities, food and location too!
Amazing staff for lunch, unique food ensembles, overall a great experience!
You get what you pay for. Cheapest room (expensive to me! ) was smalland tight, barely enough room for bags. No fridge, no microwave. Every cheap hotel in PA has those amenities. It WAS nice to see free Wi-Fi tho.
I slept well though, that’s important!
The room was average but the view of the river was what made it worth the high room rates. Impressed with the ease of check-in and out, and the staff were nice and helpful. Valet service was well organized but rather pricy… and beyond disappointing that I could only retrieve my car once on my departure day (to store my luggage) which meant I had to take my car to the Fountain Square parking lot and walk back. Not good practice when check-out is at 11 am and the conference …sessions held at the hotel lasted until 2 pm. I made the mistake of having lunch at the hotel's Orchids at Palm Court and was not impressed. Was served a brown salad with croutons so stale you could not even pierce with a fork and knife. Chose fish tacos to replace, and was brought three hard taco shells with tiny pieces of fish and hardly anything else on them. Ridiculous, especially for the prices charged. I'd recommend skipping the restaurant.
Check in and check out was very fast and easy. The room was amazing. Our Whirlpool tub was huge and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable, too. I have back issues and I still slept great!
Hosted a networking reception here. The food was good, the facility was good and the staff was utterly amazing! We had more people than expected and they found us more space. We needed more food and they produced it. We needed different signage and they changed it. We needed to move the start time up an hour and they moved it. Very very easy to do business with.
Really incredible hotel with an incredible story. We loved the bar and the bartender. We loved the ambiance and the decor. Our room was small and a bit musty and the carpets a little tired. The appetizers at the reception we attended were incredible. The main food was okay. A really great place for an event overall.
Ate dinner at Orchids at Palm Court. The meal was spectacular. Everything was delicious! My wife had the duck breast and I had the scallops. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The service was next to none. The entire waitstaff was prompt and attentive. We will definitely be returning when we want another upscale dining experience. The only thing that might turn some people off was the price. You will definitely be spending upwards of $100 per person, but it was well worth it.
Couldn’t get in my room. They kept telling me in was being cleaned. After being at the desk to see if the room was done 5 times, we told them to give us another room. They said ok and gave us a room with 2 queen beds. When we went it the room it was the original one we booked (the suite with a day bed and 2 double beds). We opened the refrigerator and there was food and drinks left in it from the person who had the room before. We had to use the pull out couch so we called room service for sheets. Nobody came. When we got back from our event that evening, there was a cup sitting outside our door like someone had been in it and placed it out there to be picked up from room service. We went in and still no sheets. We called 4 more times for sheets and the last time we called they hung up on us. I went to the front desk for a manager and finally we got our sheets. The guy said he was the only one working. Really for a hotel that has over 25 floors. We went to leave this morning and only 2 elevators worked. U know how hard it is to fit in an elevator when everyone is checking out? You stop on every floor because people are pushing the button to get down the the ground level to check out. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
Beautiful hotel. Lots of history in the walls. You have to pay for parking, $28 for self serve a day and $35 for valet a day. Room was clean, everything working in great order. Guest Service Representative was polite and efficient in checking in. Restaurant and bar is standoffish if you're in your late 20s. Waited over 15 minutes watching waiter and waitresses pass by staring at us. Finally came to take our order as we were getting up to leave.
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms are good, I'm sure they will be great once the renovations are complete. Building feels true to it's 20s beginnings loved the art deco decor. Great downtown location was able to walk to great restaurants and bars. Definitely will stay again.
Such a disappointing experience at the Bar at the Palm Court! I didn't feel like complaining any more since the bar staff graciously comp'ed us a few drinks after we moved to the bar because our server at the table completely abandoned us after we were forced to pay our tab because of the Hilton system reboot, despite the fact that we were clear that we were planning to drink more and have dinner: The $10 additional charge for a handful of frozen shrimp added to the Rigatoni was ridiculous. The shrimp were barely room temperature despite sitting on top of piping hot rigatoni, and they were entirely flavorless.
Plus, and this is important, there is a drain behind the bar, near the server station at the end closest to where the Faux Frenchmen were performing, that smells like sour milk or a dumpster at a school cafeteria. You know the smell? I still have it in my nose and can't stop thinking about it! In such a beautiful room there shouldn't be a persistent, nauseating smell throughout one's also disappointing meal. Find this problem and fix it!
We stayed here on a recent visit to Cincinnati and really enjoyed the hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel has a number of nice amenities including restaurants, business center a d gym. I was very impressed with the full gym. It's a Snap fitness that hotel guests have access to, as opposed to more typical hotel gyms that are usually very sparse. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We'd definitely stay here again.
I enjoy staying at the Cincinnati Hilton. It is located to so many fun things to do in the area. The room are big by downtown hotel standards. The staff goes out of its way to help with any problems. It is an older hotel but well maintained.
If you love art deco style then this grand ole dame is a feast for the eyes. Fantastic location for most things downtown and walking distance to convention center or waterfront. Also ideal for Taste of Cincinnati, just a few blocks over. Staff is top notch with outstanding 5 star service. Our room was decent and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The A/C however was loud and the bathrooms are dated for sure, despite the art deco coolness. But the common areas and the meeting areas and even the restaurant and bar are an amazing example of the art deco style. Best amenity? The fitness center. If you like to work out, this facility has everything. It's a full gym. The pool is more meh, small crowded and suffocatingly humid. But it's all connected together on the lower level. Parking is by garage only and not cheap. Expect garage parking to start at $17 A night. Valet or going in and out will cost you more. Overall though, a great place.
Overnight guest May 11. The staff were extremely courteous and well trained. Everyone from the front desk to the valet service were beyond helpful. They get 5 stars. That being said, I did have issues with my stay. For starters, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, and the pillows weren't much better. For $200+ a night, I expect better. In addition, literature provided by the hotel stated that room service would be available until 2 am. I was disappointed to find out this was not the case after returning to my room around 1 am. In short — great staff, but everything else needs work.
I stay frequently for business at the Cincinnati Netherlands Hilton. I like the historic hotel because of the location, cleanliness, and great customer service. This past weekend, I stayed at the hotel for pleasure. Jennifer and Matthew went out of their way to accommodate my requests and ensure that my stay was a pleasant one. I highly recommend the Cincinnati Netherlands Hilton for business and/or pleasure!
Room was super dusty. Had to ask for toiletries (said they would send it up, after waiting over an hour we just walked down to grab them). Removed the pillow cases to sleep because there were makeup stains and random hair. Was NOT worth the 200 bucks I spent. Other than the room, the bar/restaurant area was beautiful. Location is good.
Beautiful and clasic hotel with the ancient charming of the last century.
Love this hotel. Great location in the heart of down town. Easily walkable to the sports stadiums. Great breakfast. A real gym not your typical hotel gym. It has a classic feel to it and is always clean. Valet parking is extra and pricey. I have stayed here three times in the last five years and it always great.
My stay was for a local event with my 2 young daughters (8-11 y. O) I enjoyed watching their faces light up over the beauty and "WOW" of this hotel. We did feel out of place due to formal events being held within the hotel so we did not dine at the Palm that weekend, but that did not stop us from touring the facility and checking out a breath taking piece of history. I had a standard room with double beds that slept comfortably, plenty of lighting, room and good climate control. Pool was small and does not offer a shallow for small children. The look out does have a small fee ($4/2) but worth the trip up. For anyone looking for advise about staying here, you need to keep in mind this is a 1930's style hotel some rooms may be small and of older style. Parking Garage is a bit expensive, but it is a downtown hotel so I guess I should have expected that. I believe Hilton does a great job keeping the Netherlands historic as possible while not sacrificing cleanliness and a freshened look. We will return! Thank you! :)
On the expensive side of hotels, but what else do you expect from a Hilton. It felt on the older side, unrenovated for a long time. That might be what they are going for but it almost feels out if neglect. Parking cost is insane. $17 a day. We are already paying quite a lot for a room, you really need another $17 for parking? Really? And another $6 if you want to use your car at all during the day and not pay for a new parking ticket. Constant nickle and dime. I will bet if you dropped the cost of parking and lumped it in for an average of 5 dollars on every room, you would have a happier and better customer experience. If you are going to be on the Luxury side, provide a full experience. Staff was very helpful, cleaning crew was great, front desk was great. Best bartenders I have had in the restaurant Easter weekend Saturday night 2018. Live lounge music at the bar most of the time.
It is a very cool hotel, vintage. The hotel floors have kind of a weird smell, no big deal. It's near many shops, food, and entertainment to walk to. They had live music in their bar that I really enjoyed. The toilets in the hotel rooms are oddly like public toilets, which stood out to me, and there are holes cut in the bottom of the bathroom doors. Probably because there's no ventilation in the bathroom. Nice clean shower, though, with good water pressure. No complimentary breakfast.
Cincinnati a city to know: American but livable.
The interior is a marvel of style and design decorative art since the 1930 's. Just being inside is a pleasure that has no name, there is really not enough words to describe it.
Breathtakingly beautiful hotel! Our room was on the 29th floor, so we had an absolutely phenomenal view! Great service and friendly staff. The only issue was with the elevators. We we're staying as part of a conference, and since we were on the top floor, it was impossible (due to everyone checking out at the same time) to take the elevators down for check-out. After waiting for quite awhile, I decided to build some muscle and take the stairs down to the lobby. Overall, a beautiful place to stay in the heart of Cincinnati.
Estate cercuitas a much as cosas.
Great place to stay or even visit. French Art Deco buildings like this are rare, and that one is fully a Hilton is more rare. Perfectly modern? No. The rooms are fine, although some can be small. The bathrooms and closets are small too. But that's the charm of this place. It's allure is stepping back in time, with mail chutes, opulent dining rooms, older styled elevators. The observation area on the 16th floor in the concierge lounge is a great place to sit and relax. Food in the dining room is very good. Breakfast is great with a lot of choices.
I stay at the Hilton Netherlands when I visit Cincinnati because I like to build my honors points. However, this hotel is very old. The rooms are decent, but old and smelly. The food is awesome, especially breakfast which I ate everyday. The workout facility is the best I've ever seen in a hotel. It's like a regular gym where o e would spend 50 bucks a month for.
Good service and great food. Parking is free valet If you eat at the restaurant. Buffet Food for breakfast and lunch that was very nice.
The hotel was very nice but the room wasn't at all what I expected. The room was very thin meaning the wall was too close to the foot of the bed making the room feel cramped, there was paint chipping in several places, the bathroom lacked a vent for steam or sound privacy, and left me relatively underwhelmed overall. That being said you could definitely get your money's worth if you plan on using the gym, the pool, or enjoying the lounge areas in the lobby, but if you intend on staying mostly in your room your money would probably be better spent somewhere else. I don't think that this was necessarily misrepresented, I think I just didn't do enough research. The staff was very friendly and polite, and the common areas were very beautiful but I feel like the rooms weren't worth their price.
This is our favorite hotel anywhere! We always have a wonderful stay, the staff go out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are always very clean and our special requests have always been honored and attended to. We are Hilton Honors program members and we are treated like royalty. Would never stay anywhere else in Cincinnati and very much look forward to our next visit! Highly recommend!
This is the most beautiful bar in Cincinnati. It's an art deco treasure that everyone visiting Cincinnati should visit, especially with their happy hour specials. I had a dirty Martini that was reasonably priced and quite good. My fiance had a grilled cheese sandwich which was delicious and a hot toddy that was equally good. All the while a jazz duo was preforming. It was a lovely experience. I would highly recommend the Palm Court bar for happy hour.
The classic Art Deco architecture exterior and beautiful interiors in its dinning areas, bar and 3 ball rooms. Excellent, top shelf taste in dinning service and wait staff at your attention. A perfect local to celebrate something. Among the best food in Cincinnati at one of the best hotels too. Just visit to gaze at the decor. You'll return.
The most decadent historic hotel in the city! A beacon of Art Deco style in the heart of downtown. You can catch the best views of the city and region from their observation deck, the best cocktails from their Orchids bar, and the most decadent brunch buffet in Cincy. Touring the space is half the fun — the deco interiors are beautifully preserved. Highly recommend a visit!
When I come to town for work, I stay here. I continue to come back because they remember me and my name. Beautiful hotel lobby. Love the history in this place. The food here is OK and what you can expect from a hotel restaurant. The rooms are nice, even better if you upgrade and move away from the elevators. ALWAYS ask for a room away from the elevator or you will hear it all night.
Hotel was very elegant and had an amazing lobby. I'm told the lobby restaurant is one of the best in the city, though I did not have a chance to eat there. Room was nice; it had an older feel but very comfortable. Very quiet at night. Staff was friendly and helpful.
It's a little fancy for my taste but my husband absolutely loved it. The staff was wonderful and the restaurants were superb. I give it 5 stars because of the service and location. The rooms are adequate and clean. It's an absolutely fabulous location though. And you must go to the Sunday brunch if you're there over the weekend.
We went to the Hilton Netherland Plaza because we are considering booking our wedding block of hotel rooms with them. The whole place was fantastic. The hotel has so much history and beautiful architecture. The lobby and bar areas are ornate, dramatic, and very well-kept. The rooms we toured were spacious and bright and we would be happy to have our out of town wedding guests stay there. The location is excellent. Just a block from Fountain Square and a few short blocks down to the riverfront.
The history of the… Hotel HILTON Cincinnnati Netherland Place. Friendship and good taste always lasts in time Gràcies Marcel.
This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel that maintains a strong 1920s/30s aesthetic. Rooms can either be gigantic or a little smaller than expected, which I suppose isn't uncommon in an old downtown hotel, but is something to look out for. Service is fantastic and staff has always been very friendly in my visits. Air conditioner in the room can be loud.
Rooms are great, but staff does not answer questions, you are expected to know everything already. Example: Asked three people including dining services how much breakfast in the room was, no one answered my question at all and dining services told me to look on the tv, put everything in my cart that I wanted to purchase and figure it out from there. It is a flat rate I found out so, why not answer? 19% service charge that includes gratuity and $2.00 delivery charge. Needless to say I recommend a 0.2 Mike walk to first watch. Best breakfast place I've ever been. However, the hotel is gorgeous and they are quite accommodating beyond that. We got free champagne sent to our room simply because there was no toilet paper! I thought that was very kind and a bit crazy over toilet paper, but we gladly accepted the gift.
Beautiful cocktail bar/ lounge, could have spent more time there than we did. Great drinks. Rooms are in need of some love, but bed was comfortable. The whole place was like going back in time.
I recently stayed at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. My room was very nice. The hotel staff were all very professional and friendly. The dining and beverage service in the Orchid was fabulous. The hotel design is Art Deco and very nicely decorated throughout the hotel property. I used the health club and pool and enjoyed those amenities as well.
A grand dame of hotels, this place is a great example of architecture and styling. Modern internals with some true regal beauty, I love this place. Sitting in the restaurant will make you feel like you stepped back to a more civilized and adult time. Wear a suit and you're in Mad Men, wear a tux and you're in a Bond movie, we don't have enough of these old beauties. We spent our 12th Anniversary here and the staff stepped up to make it truly special. Nothing but fond memories of this place!
Not only is this right downtown, but the art deco design is amazing. It also has a FANTASTIC gym with hot tub and pool available to all guests. The restaurant is also amazing and worth a stop for drinks out dinner!
I ate at Orchids at Palm Court for lunch and it was a great experience. Lunch is only $15 for an entree or unlimited pasta. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the food was too salty.
A beautiful venue. And, Taylor was absolutely wonderful throughout the whole scheduling of the wedding preparing us for the wedding and letting us know the cost of the event and what we should expect. It was way beyond our expectations. The staff could not have been more wonderful everybody went over and beyond to make sure we had what we wanted. Truly an amazing experience. Taylor Barbara and another wonderful beverage coordinator Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience at Orchids. Every course was very beautiful and had great flavor. We got 4 courses and we were able to get wine pairing with each course which isn't normally done since we didn't get the 10 course experience. Each wine pairing was unique and delicious. Our wait staff was very nice and attentive. Over all an amazing experience.
Yes, as in other reviews, the rooms are small; but they have all the amenities you would want in a high end hotel. Unless you plan on staying in your room, go hang out with the excellent staff in a very nice, early 20th Century art deco style restaurant and bar. Even the parking garage entrance has its own well appointed large lounge area. Wander the hotel and enjoy the architecture style. It is an historic hotel.
This is an historic property, with mid century decor. The lobby is beautiful, and they've kept the authentic feel throughout the hotel. You might find the hallways and rooms to be a bit dated but I think they're well kept. I had a comfortable stay, especially taking into account the excellent location.
Staff was great — especially Kelly, who served drinks at the rooftop bar. She went above and beyond and was extremely hospitable and friendly. Rooms were large and comfortable. We'll definitely keep coming back.
Beautiful lobby and building. Some nice views from the upper floors. Staff was always very friendly. Rooms are a little dated and the walls are rather thin. No reason to avoid but there are other options to consider in the downtown area.
This hotel was the a fantastic place! This in located in the middle of the city! Walking to the plaza of cincinnati and to the the stadium of the reds. The hotel has large and clean rooms! Also have restaurants to all sides! Getting to the hotel vaz to see history of the city of cincinnati by all sides! Also this connected by low from the city with much expert shops! A place historical and with good service! I recommend this place with 5 stars!
Excellent hotel located I downtown. It is close to the stadium if you want to go to a football game and close to many breweries and distilleries that you can tour. The hotel is really nice. We got upgraded from a queen sized bed to king for free because it was our anniversary. The staff was really helpful. The room is really clean and comfortable bed. We ordered room service for breakfast which was reasonably priced and delicious. My only complain is that while they have a bottled water I the room, it was $3. But everything else was perfect. Would highly recommend.
My girlfriends sister got married here and it was a spectacular weekend. The staff accommodated quite a large crowd and even kept the bar open for the wedding goers until 2:30am. The brunch buffet is one of the best I've ever seen. We were there during the Flying Pig marathon so Cincinatti was super busy, and they made everything run smoothly. Amazing building, old architecture. Reminded of the 1940's glamorous hotels.
We set up a block of rooms for our guests at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza this past weekend, and everything exceeded our expectations. Our Sales Manager, Karen, was so helpful and easy to work with. The guest rooms were beautiful and the service was superior. Our guests were thrilled with their stay, which is quite an accomplishment when dealing with a large group of people. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially anyone planning an event.

RespondThe Netherlands Plaza remains one of the most beautiful hotels in the country as it is impeccably cared for and maintained by an incredible staff. We had a luncheon and fashion show there Monday in the elegant Hall of Mirrors which was absolutely lovely. I am so impressed by the courtesy and professionalism of the entire staff as their hard work made our day perfect. Thank you!
Service is pretty good, room size is fine (king room), bed is comfortable, amenities are fine. No complaints… but not blown away either.
I was at the Hilton Netherland for an industry meeting and social event. It consisted of lunch, meetings and a cocktail reception. It's a beautiful art deco facility that really should be experienced. The bar area is great. The food was quite good. My only complaint was that no coffee was served during the meetings but that was likely an organizational decision.
I really like the art deco design of the hotel. Rooms are smaller but ceilings are very high which helps in not feeling cramped. Facilities are great and staff is very attentive. But what I am really here to talk about is the restaurant. This is a destination all by itself. I was truly amazed at the wait staff. Barbara and Joel took very good care of us throughout our experience and the food is incredible. They use fresh locally sourced ingredients and even have a bee hive on top of the hotel to produce their own honey! I was taken back at how our seafood was so fresh and perfectly prepared. You can see and taste the effort put into each course. I will be back every time I visit Cincinnati!
Awesome hotel… loved the Art Deco style… clean, quiet, beautiful. Perfect location for walking to our REDS game, Freedom Center Museum and restaurants. Parking garage is a little confusing and congested, but still very much worth the stay.
Had to stay for work, it was nice, clean, and good location. Saw a roach walking across the lobby when I was checking out, so that was weird. The jazz band that plays at the bar/restaurant is great.
Over night accommodations in the king whirlpool suite. The room and srevive cannot be beat. The hotel is a wonderful mix of old world charm and modern conveniences. The whirl pool tub was great. The shower and tub along with the intricate tile work in the bath were a throw back to the early 1900. The bed was comfortable, water was provided in the room which was nice to have later that night after it had chilled in the fridge. The elevators are a work of art, very speedy. The room was only steps from the elevator. The cost of the room for the amenities provided was excellent. I paid just as much the night before for a dump in Columbus OH — Marriot Spring hill Inn and Suites near OSU. I will definitely stay at Netherlands Plaza again and again.
Beautiful hotel. Very art deco. The rooms are fine, but it's the lobby, and the conference rooms, and the designs in the elevator doors etched in metal, and the Hall of Mirrors that make this place beautiful.
The hilton netherlands is a beautiful hotel located right in the heart of Cincinnati we had some trouble at first but I sincerely want to thank Matthew Coffey for his hospitality and resolving all issues so thank u again.
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. More importantly, the staff who service the hotel are outstanding! Planned a dinner for almost 200 people, and there staff made it easy and pulled it off seamlessly. The standout was Annette Pfund-de Cavel, the Catering Executive who was an absolute rock-star. She was efficient, hospitable, organized and no matter how busy she was I always felt like my event was the most important. First class all the way!
My stay was short, but well. The desk was a great help and the rooms were spacious and lovely. The view, meh, but overall was good. My only complaint was having nowhere to park the Hummer but aside from this, all was well.
Front desk and bell staff are wonderful. The rooms need some serious updating. The restaurant hostesses are horrendous. Last time I was there, my party was seated and waited 30 minutes without receiving any sort of acknowledgement. We finally got up and walked down the street and ate at Jean-Robert's Table… much better. We were treated pretty poorly and yet I have diamond status with Hilton. I have stayed there in Oct and Dec of this year and the experience was identical both times. I couldn't even get a late check out (30 minutes) This used to be a great hotel, however, we switched to 21C Museum Hotel after the last stay and it is the new standard in Cincinnati. That is where we will be spending again at the end of this month.
Wonderful service. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. Rates are high like anywhere else, but the overall experience is excellent. Atmosphere is elegant and fancy with high ceilings. The room is very clean and comfortable. Bathroom isn't huge, but impeccably clean and filled with spotless towels and other bathroom things. Plenty of wall plugs everywhere, seems pretty modern. Wi-Fi is decent when complimentary, but apparently there's a premium Wi-Fi that's much faster if you choose. Restaurant and bar is excellent, beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this place to anybody staying in Cincinnati downtown. Felt right at home. For comparison, the Millennium hotel across the street really did not seem nearly as inviting as this Hilton, I switched reservations after reading some reviews on both places. Not disappointed.
The Hilton Netherlands plaza is flush with marbel and 1920s esque art decco type murals. The staff is wonderfully helpful and the hotel bar is amazing. Unfortunately due to its age, expect smaller rooms with less creature comforts. I wasn't a fan of their bedroom pillows and their bathrooms were a bit cramped. While they have a bank of 6 elevatorsthat is available at all floors, expect some stairs between the street level and the lobby unless you choose the appropriate elevator serviced entrance on the side of the building.
Awesome rooms. Awesome bar. Right in the middle of everything downtown Cinci has to offer, and only a mile walk from the Horseshoe. My only complaints aren't that big of a deal — that the jazz band in the bar took hour-long breaks, but we only went down to the bar to listen to them. Our bathroom was a little small but my dad's handicap room was one of the best we've seen in awhile. Would recommend.
I stayed for two nights in early November 2015 because I was attending a conference. I was surprised by the small size of my room, but the bed was comfortable, the view was nice, and everything worked as it should have. The location can't be beat. The facility itself is large and impressive, and I especially liked the look of the elevators, as odd as that may sound. I would stay there again for a conference, no doubt about it. That said, if I come back to Cincinnati on my own for personal travel, I would likely stay elsewhere simply because I'd be fine with spending a bit less and having a larger room at a place where breakfast is included and parking is easier; this is not a knock against the Hilton, it's really just a matter of personal preference. The staff members I encountered were helpful and cordial, and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job from my observations and interactions. Checking in was a breeze, and checking out simply consisted of leaving my keys in the room and walking to the parking garage.
Quick and easy check in and checkout. The hotel has a nice interior and my room had an ok view on the 11th floor.
The room was very classy, but a little small. The ambience was great and the location allowed for easy access to some really nice bars and restaurants. The service was professional and courteous, however there was no automated check out option (which is less than ideal when you're leaving for a 6am flight). All in all, a great experience!
I stayed two nights at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza earlier this month. It met or exceeded all of my expectations. I was particularly pleased with the offerings in the associated health facility in Carew Tower. As noted in other reviews, the walls are thin. I could hear a cell phone conversation that was being conducted in the elevator lobby from inside my room a short distance away. Thankfully, this happened at mid morning and not midnight. Other comments have noted that even the deluxe rooms are somewhat small. That's the reality of a 1930's era high-rise hotel. You'll find the same in every city in America. My only recommendation for improvement would be to retrofit an electrical outlet (or even a lamp) to provide a direct USB connection for charging of cellphones, laptops, etc. This is a quick, inexpensive and easy fix that would ease the experience of hotel guests.
Exdelente licalizacao e hosoedagem.
My husband and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary this weekend and had tickets to the Bengal's game on 8/14/15, so we decided to stay here and enjoy the night life of downtown and take in the beauty of this gorgeous hotel! This was our second stay and loved it both times! The staff was very professional and friendly and the hotel is amazingly beautiful and we will be back again and again!
This hotel is the BEST n Cincinnati! It is visually stunning, absolutely beautiful Art Deco style, especially the lobby bar and restaurant. The staff and service are the best of any hotel Ive ever stayed at. (and I travel qite a bit for business). I highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Cincy.
Wonderful room and excellent customer service. Very attractive hotel and restaurants. Breakfast and hors d'oeuvres available to HHonors members were better than most. Definitely plan on staying again next time I'm in town.
My fiance and I stayed at the Hilton Netherland Plaza this past weekend and were very disappointed. We were expecting a luxurious hotel stay downtown-what we got were 2 terrible nights sleep and a desperate need to shower. We had requested a single queen or king bed and were put in a room with 2 double beds-my fiance is 6' 4'' and was very uncomfortable-I was frustrated that we had to sleep separately on what was supposed to be a romantic weekend getaway. In addition to the small beds, our sleep was hindered by an incredibly loud AC unit that woke me up nearly every time it turned on, and I am not usually a light sleeper! The worst part of all was that we had NO hot water to shower with-we both were forced to take 'sink baths' each night as the water was lukewarm at best and only then for a minute or so. Neither of us could understand what all the hype was about regarding this property-we both agreed that we have stayed at Holiday Inns with nicer rooms and amenities. If you're looking for a fancy lobby then I guess this place is for you, however if you want a comfortable room and a good nights rest, look elsewhere. Only redeeming feature was that we did have a nice view of the city-otherwise would've rated 1 star.
I had a king deluxe room. Other than the view I didn't understand what made it deluxe. Bathroom was very small. Staff was friendly.
The staff and facilities were absolutely fantastic. Stayed here for the Flying Pig Marathon it was convenient for all activities downtown.
Horrible valet. I just came back from an event at this hotel and used the valet. I gave my ticket and paid the $15 fee. Nearly 20 minutes later, my vehicle was still not retrieved. When inquiring about my vehicle, it was obvious that my ticket was overlooked. Mistakes happen but there was no acknowledgement of their mistake, no apology, and no assistance provided once the car pulled up. Avoid the bad service at this hotel and park at another garage. You'll probably get your car faster and pay much less.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. This is a beautiful historical landmark, everyone was very helpful and kind to us during our stay. Very clean. You can order food from the tv! loved that. Lots of places to eat and shop at within walking distance. We will be coming back.
Amazing hotel! Lots to explore and enjoy.
I have stayed at this hotel 6 times, each an extended stay for a total of about 52 days of my life. I cannot imagine how anyone could give this place less than 4 stars (things happen, I know, but for me it's a solid 5! ). It is a beautiful piece of history in a downtown that is otherwise filled with rather ordinary hotels. The art deco atmosphere is exquisite and rarely preserved as well in other hotels. The rooms are sufficiently updated without losing a period feel. The service is wonderful, and for someone who has spent so much time there, still surprising and refreshing. I have never encountered a staff member to be rude, or ill prepared for their work. The amenities are top notch. The restaurant is pricey, but the food doesn't fail to please and the atmosphere and service are probably beyond compare in Cincinnati. The rooms vary greatly in size, as is normal for a hotel of this age, and the one time when I did have to request a larger room (I always had a roommate) they worked hard to accommodate us. The fitness facility is well equipped and include various classes if one is so inclined — free. The location. Is perfect. I find every negative review here to be suspect. 52 days of being a very happy place to go back to during a long day's work is pretty solid proof you cannot go wrong here. I've done the math.
Really neat hotel with excellent service and a great location. Of course with an old hotel you get old rooms in varying size but we really enjoyed our weekend there.
Gorgeous hotel lets you step back into a time when, tho perhaps the pace was slower, surely our understanding of proportion, measured excess and exquisite craft reveals a sophistication lost today.
I love this place! I stay here anytime I'm in the area.
The person checking us in was snooty. She just had an off putting manner about her. My wife and I booked a room with a queen bed, but were assigned a room with two double beds (seemed more like twin beds. That's romantic) We went down the next day to "complain", and had the delight to work with the same "off putting" person. She let us know that they basically were overbooked and when that happens you end up in whatever room they have available. Hmmmmm not a very nice practice. She didn't help us at all, but the manager did help us out. Offered up a different ("better") room, but my wife was not willing to switch rooms. We had a lot of things, so we decided to stay put. The manager did offer to cover our parking (total of 50 dollars) for the two nights. Overall, it was just an ok stay. The rooms are very small and the walls are very thin. Some of the workers are 'off putting', but others are helpful. I may take a chance on this place again and see if they can do better.
We just returned from a stay at the Hilton Cincinnati and would return (I just read that is supposedly haunted, did not know going in — "The Green Lady" did not catch my eye) Our stay was short but we enjoyed the atmosphere and close proximity this hotel held to other downtown venues. The lounge music was like stepping back in time with the great atmosphere and decor. Palm Court breakfast is a must to try and we heard the Sunday brunch is also good. We used public parking d/t skywalk availability connected to the hotel which was easily accessed. Kinda bummed to have to pay for Wi-Fi, the hotel lobby was full of people using computers b/c apparently Wi-Fi was free there. If you enjoy restored historical hotels, you should give this a shot.
$10 a day for internet. Wtf? In a time when connectivity is seemingly ubiquitous, Hilton decided in a move that could only be considered money hungry, decided that what guests need is to pay for what every other hotel nows provides complimentary. What's next? Pay per flush toilets? A meter on the shower? Or maybe a seperate "water activation fee" This is ridiculous in and of itself. Never ever come here. It is not worth the money, and it is not as nice as it looks online. The attitude of staff left much to be desired. Provide COIN ONLY vending machines. Why? Do they expect guests to have an abundance of change? I called for service and waited 2 and a half hours before receiving an apology phone call. What a racket. Don't even bother, save your money and go somewhere with breakfast and a free internet connection, service is lackluster at best. Staff expect tips for doing the most menial tasks that could easily be handled by guests, as a way to pander for tips.
My family and I had a great experience at the Plaza. The art deco alone is amazing. The workers are so friendly and professional. We loved it. However, I do want to say when we first walked into our room, my daughter swore that someone was laying in her bed but yet my son, husband and I didnt see anyone. We brushed it off. When we got home from the long Labor Day weekend, I was referring a friend to stay here and I looked up the hotel for her. I was surprised to find that the Hilton Cincinnati was haunted. As I was reading, it was clear to me that my daughter was not seeing things. We will definetly stay here again. Next time maybe my son, husband and I will experience something.
