I was so incredibly disappointed with our room. We brought our dog with us (she is a 3 pound poodle) and I believe we were put in one of their "pet rooms". It was so dirty, the carpet was stained with not only pee but there was a stain on the carpet that looked liked poop. The bottom of the tub was stained with a dirty blackened color. We also had old spilled coffee on the counter and something white (like milk) splashed on the bathroom wall from prior guests. My dogs ball rolled under the the cabinet and in pulling it out, we also pulled out the worst dust webbing I have ever seen. Our beds were barely made the next day when house keeping came around, we still had a ring of our tooth paste still in the sink when we came back in the room as the drains took or ever to drain and house keeping didnt bother cleaning. The breakfast was not very good at all. The staff was really nice but I will never stay there again it felt really gross.
What a very pleasant surprise. The only room left in Walker (and I called them all) was this one at America's Best Value Inn and it was their 'LAST' one, a smoking room. (We don't smoke, but had no choice) After making the booking, I thought, "what have I gotten myself into? " I thought a few times about calling to cancel. Showed up and was able to check in two hours early. Very friendly at the front desk. Went to the room, (smoking room) and entered and was hit with the smoking smell. I went to the front desk and asked if they had any spray. She went in back and brought me out a can of air freshener and said that I could keep it in the room and use it as needed. The room was clean and the stay was great. We usually stay in 'higher end' places so we were so pleased with the hospitality of the staff and owners. The large pool and hot tub was refreshing and breakfast, although we didn't have any, looked very nice. The next time we stay in Walker, Mn, the first call for a room will be America's Best Value Inn! BTW, great Wi-Fi ~ R. Moore.
