It is your basic holiday inn. The hotel is going through renovation well deserve.

This is not a Holiday Inn Express, unless IHG drops their standards for Gaylord. I usually don’t review hotels, but this hotel was a huge letdown. Staff was rude and made us uncomfortable during checkin. We felt like an inconvenience to her. She was either high, sick, or sleep deprived and unprofessionally dressed. The whole check-in process she was very short with us and I could’ve swore I offended her somehow. Deadbolt didn’t work on my door, shower curtain was too short for the shower causing bathroom to flood, shower drain didn’t drain properly causing tub to be filled 4” of water by the time I finished showering. TV remote didn’t work. The room is clean so I guess that’s a plus. In summary: If you just need somewhere to stay for the night this place is fine, but if you are expecting a Holiday Inn Express experience, prepare for a huge letdown.

The hotel facilities are starting to show a little age, but the staff responded overall pretty well to our issues (hot water out of the traps was lukewarm at best, so they moved us to a different room. A little annoying, but we still got hot showers). Mixed bag. Good experiences with the staff, though.

This hotel was average for the price. Rooms were nice and clean. The reason I have such a low rating is because I had the worst customer service experience with the front desk. Her name was Brittany. She was so rude to me. And I was polite to her the whole time. Reviews are a big deal to me because I read them to determine what hotel I want to visit. I will not be back here again.

Standard room with a decent breakfast. Had an issue with our shower not draining and staff was accommodating by giving us another room. A little annoyed that their first suggestion was they would give US a plunger to try to fix the drain OURSELVES… since it wasn't our fault and that's not our job… But at least we got a new room. Other than that, no complaints.

It was good. The beds we're soft and plush. Breakfast being free was pretty good, I'd say add more hot options and I'd rate better. Service was awesome, nothing to complain about.

Clean rooms. The staff always say good morning to me of which I enjoy. Breakfast was good and got. Always a pleasurable experience!

The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Although rooms were slightly noisy could hear all rooms around us. Breakfast the next day was excellent. We consider staying again if we are ever in the area.

A roadside emergency brought me unannounced to this Holiday Inn. Arriving without notice, on a busy weekend, the Manager, Ms. Foley, treated me like long lost family. I was in an extraordinarily clean room within minutes. The entire building was immaculate. Pool and recreational offerings were spotless. The breakfast offerings were generous and well prepared; I've traveled extensively on business, in the future, I'll ask for this HIE.

I normally really like holiday inn hotels, not so much this one. I see its listed as a two star hotel and I agree with this assessment. Unfortunately they charge like its a three star or more hotel. They have a sauna but they use it as storage and I saw a mouse. Pool is nice thou. Might be time to down grade this to a Days Inn.

Standard hotel. Rooms were good sized. The hotel has a unique layout. Staff was helpful and courteous.

While the hotel could use a refurb to modernize the rooms the Holiday Inn Express Gaylord was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We were passing through town on our way home from vacation and needing a place to stay for the night. Even though the place was full of receptions and birthday parties they found us a quiet room at the end of the hall. We were able to get a good restful night sleep and get on the road again in the morning. My one complaint about the room was the that there was not nearly enough light. A couple extra lamps would do wonders.

Customer service is horrible! I have called this hotel to make reservations for my construction crews on multiple occasions they either don't answer or I am put on hold and never assisted. I will not be attempting to stay at this hotel again.

Location was perfect the rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was warm and a variety of selection.

Great staff. Gave me a pretty good discount on the room that they didn't need to offer me, so I appreciate that. Unfortunately, it was still overpriced and the hotel is just average. In need of a good deal of updating. Feels a little Super 8-y.

Excellent! Best hie we've stayed at, pool area great. Came in at 10 PM and Brittany was busy with phones and people and did an amazing job with it all. Breakfast was great too, corned beef hash!

Clean, pricy & lacking updates. For a +$100 hotel, every TV remote should work. Reception told me none of the TV remotes work due to "Charter". Not what I expect from a nicer hotel.

“Average HIE — Nice Staff — Kept UpWell & Clean” Hello. I stayed here for 6 nights. Average HIE in comparison to others. Considering there isn't much around in this area, besides lakes and hunting/fishing resorts, this hotel is conveniently located around several fast food and other restaurants like Big Bobs, Ponderosa, Mexican Specialty etc. I especially liked the fact that the "Glens Grocery Store" down the street had a small Starbucks. So I was able to get real coffee every morning on my way to Camp Grayling, MI (about 30 minutes away). Did not have much interaction with the Staff, but when I saw them they were courteous. Room was cleaned to standard when requested. Had a King Bed, mini-fridge, I could use the breakfast microwave when I wanted down the hall from room 119. I would stay here again. Pros: — Bigger Pool and Jacuzzi than other HIE *working Cons: — No Laundry Dry Cleaning (although they do have machines if you want to wash your clothes) — Local Dry Cleaners did not offer same day either *not HIE problem just a note — Sauna *Not Working — Internet Speed was terribly slow in the evenings — Only Cardio Machines in exercise room *Could use some small dumbells Retired Army Ranger PC Gold Member Room Tip: Ask for a King Non-Smoking Room.

Good service all around, nice pools dn free weight gym. The breakfast is small and typical but didn't come to michigan for that!

Nice hotel and priced very well. Our king bed room was very clean and had a mini kitchen area including a fridge.

Older Holiday Inn Express but love the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Next door to a gas station and a Mexican restaurant for walking convenience.

We booked a room here 2 months in advance. We arrived here at 330pm to a room which was not ready yet. Came back room was sold to someone else. Got down graded to a room which had toilet paper in the toilet. Never will stay here again.

Beautiful hotel from the Lobby to the rooms. I think that this hotel deserves more stars. Recently visited last week for a business conference the staff was very friendly. The hotel was spotless, and trust me I don't normally say that about hotels but they had it going on. The air conditioning was nice throughtout the hotel. Awesome pool and hot tub and free breakfast they had hot and cold foods and grab and go items. Great place for a peaceful vacation or camping trip. Beds were huge and very comfortable with many pillows. Keep up the good work!

Why would you have a pic of a dirty room on your web site?

Awful! There are working incapable people that want to rob you! After my stay there they have taken money from my account 3 times the amount they were supposed to! STAY AWAY FROM THAT HOTEL! THEY WILL ROB YOU.

I used to stay here a lot until they sold and raised their rates. Since then I've been staying at other area hotels and this is by far the best one I've been to in town. Miss it.

My partner and I were heading from Detroit to Traverse City, without plans to stop on the way over night. Fall turned to winter on us 3/4 of the way, and cared not to drive in the blinding snow. We got off at the Gaylord exit to head that route when my partner said to pull into the Holiday Inn. Really didn't want to pay but he fears my driving as it is lol! We entered to a EXTREMELY warm and friendly lobby and man at the front desk. Well dressed and very professional and friendly, he thoroughly explained our accommodations as far as breakfast, location of room, easy access from parking lot to room, and even asked if we needed a wake up call, rare they ever ask that these days but was very appreciated! We took him up on that offer too. I'd stay there next time even if it isn't snowing. The breakfast was delish, the staff friendly and helpful, the room was large and very clean and modern.

I love this Holiday Inn. I have used it for the last two years on Valentine's day. I get the king size bed with the whirlpool tub room. It's always clean and the staff is lovely. They have nice Flat screen T. V's and dvd players and free Wi-Fi. The pool is big and never over crowded. The breakfast is standard. I will be back.
