Very nice layout. Fancy and a little high class. Very expensive, but overall an extremely nice place. The casino on the other is a huge rip off and the restaurant prices were ridiculous. Don't expect to win anything and they don't even offer free drinks while pumping your hard earned money in those machines. It took less than 30 minutes to lose over $100! Won't be back ever! Apparently they also have a problem with minors on the casino floor and getting lots of fines for it. Probably why they just take your money and don't even give you a chance to enjoy losing it!

I understand gambling is gambling but to lose $700 in 2.5 hours without any rewards is ridiculous. Plus losing was instant, no up and down, only a couple bonuses on the slots. We understand gambling is a risk but where is the fun. You could have just asked for my money, it would have been easier. Thankfully the room is nice ok with a great view. Reserved a room to come back Saturday for the concert. Canceling our room and not coming back. Edited and changed my review to a 1. Room L32, I can hear every sound the people next to us make. So much to the end our our anniversary week.

Casino was a little dated, but… kinda cool. All you can eat buffet, with crab legs, Friday night. It was pretty good. Needed more choices, though.

The first time there we mainly tried about 4 different slot machines which all paid out pretty well. (One of the penny machines hit for $500)! We left with all of that. The 2nd time there we were down about $400 when my fiancee went back to the same penny machine we had won $500 on the first time we were there and within minutes hit for $7, 501! Once we we're paid, we left not long after winning! Very very cool experience Not sure if we will make a 3rd trip there anytime soon however, our experience so far has been staff there were all very friendly too!

I had never been here before however I must say I will definitely be back. Good environment, friendly and inviting. And the staff were awesome. Thank you guys for the hospitality. I recommend this place to everyone looking to do some gambling.

Very nice full hookup campground for an RV. Large pull through sites. Concrete pad. Well maintained. Great place to stop for the night. And $20/night!

Nice rooms at a good price. They are a lot cheaper if you have a players club card. The buffet was good but I was there on a Monday night so the crowd was small and the food was going slow and spent too much time under the heat lamps.

The buffet continues to decline. Just looking at the dry pizza and veggies on the buffet make you question the taste of not completely passing it by. The only reason we try is the food is free, or as any gambler will tell you, prepaid. The 45 minute drive is quickly losing its appeal. When comment cards are submitted the response is the same, we are working on improvements.

The buffet was nasty. If you didn't like fish, the beef option tasted like shoe leather. You couldn't cut it with a steak knife. All dessert options were low calorie pies. After that terrific meal, we went into the casino and lost $70 in about 15 minutes. Don't think I'll be stopping on my way home from K. C. Anytime soon. (My personal opinion. )

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We have stay there numerous times ans have not been disappointed. We enjoy the buffet and of course gambling.

Generally not too jammed full of people and not that far away from Des Moines. It has everything you need from a casino all in a small package. I prefer Lakeside vs. Prairie Meadows any day. The only draw back for me is that Osceola is twice as far as Altoona from home.

Hotel rooms, restaurant and casino is "nice. " Would've given a 5 star but as expected, being a black male, it was all eyes on me while attending the casino. Look, I'm a truck driver that just needed me time and a good time. I make a great amount of money, so while you're following me around, there's most likely someone else you really should be following around instead. Very typical. Must I add 1 drink every 20 minutes is allowed. (Which I understand to prevent too much craziness. )

Stopped in as a rest stop on a long trip to stretch our legs and get some dinner. We skipped the buffet in the front, pricey and more than we were looking for. We went into the casino and when to the bar to get a really good burger and fries. Friendly barmaid and all the staff we encountered really. It wasn't crowded or crazy and it made for a nice stretch before we got back on the road.

Tough to win patron's frustration and tempers are vocalized. Meals are delicious food and drinks are excellent. Hotel room's are OK price some unfair charges especially if you don't use the pool. Casino down sizing on slots machine bringing in new ones with high bets. Practical for some who can afford to pay.

One star rating is being too nice for the horrible customer service we received. We waited 20 minutes to be served, 20 minutes to receive our check and when I went up to the bar to ask for our check the response I got was “I’m pretty sure it’s on the table (it was not). ” The manager should be training the staff and have a system in place so people aren’t waiting to be seated and served. The food was not anything to brag about & I think this could be a popular place if the employees were properly trained and there was more structure. Nothing is more upsetting than expecting to have a nice dinner with family & it doesn’t happen.

Nothing spectacular. Lots of processed food and out of can. Pies are frozen. Good meat selection. Chicken, pork, steaks, shrimp, etc. Salad bar needs revamped… just salads out of container. For $19 I expect something fresh made.

A very nice cozy Hotel but requires some remodeling and new mattresses. We enjoy going during the weekends and the staff are very friendly and just like family. Some constructive feedback consists of not enough staff to support their customers. This is most obvious in the cleaning staff for the hotel and especially the buffet. The owners continue to support the cigarette smoker and even though they have designated non-smoking areas and a filtration system the cigarette smoke continues to filtrate into the hotel rooms which is disgusting. If you're a cigarette smoker you'll be fine there if you're not then you may to choose somewhere else. It's disturbing nowadays that an employer will continue to support this type of habit especially when secondhand smoke is so dangerous to their patrons and their employees. In addition on the state of Iowa continues to support it as well which is even more concerning. It just goes to show you that greed seems to be the governing Factor for this property.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good Food But they could offer more variety of vegetables.

After being seated bartender came over and confronted the lady seating me in front of myself and two others about being in the rotation. I do understand the way that that works however when a customer wants to be seated away from the bar then that is their choice to do so should there be available places to sit. This may be the reason why she didn't have but two people sitting over there because of her poor attitude towards not only the customers but towards coworkers. On any other occasion had it been busy I would have completely understood. And yes I did mention it to the cashier as I checked out and told her I thought the bartender was rude in her actions and that it was uncalled for.

One of my favorites, small casino, floating on a small lake… Unusual spot for a casino… People are nice enough… Plenty of slot machines… Very small area set aside for Semi Truck parking, but there's a small Pilot Truckstop right next door (Not a whole lot of parking there either, but you can find something)

We were just on the gaming floor. The dealers where awesome and personable. The waitresses were nice and quick with our drinks all night. I typically don't care for casinos but this place is nice, clean and fun! Only thing I wish is that it would be non-smoking!

Used to live in Vegas so I'm used to the casino scene, but lakeside is very enjoyable. Same games, less people. Small but still a fair opportunity to lose your money… or win. Will be back. Clean casino.

It's been a while since I stayed at the hotel, but when I did it was nice and clean. The casino is nice. It's not nearly as overcrowded as many I've been to. On the smaller side, which is a nice change. The buffet was great! On the pricey side but food was good. The water tasted and smelled awful. Tasted like it came straight from the lake. Overall, it's a nice place to stop for a little getaway.

No late night room service was my major gripe, had to go on a midnight good search. The room was serviceable although worn with chips the wall and spots on the floor. The staff was nice, pleasant and prompt. The room was free from being a platinum member might had more issues if I paid for it.

Staying here this weekend. When I arrived and checked in I was given key cards and they did not work. Many trips back and forth between the check in desk and the room and 4 sets of keys cards later I finally was able to get into the room. Check in person insisted I was using the key cards wrong. I traveled here to see my son at college and ended up missing one event while dealing with the key cards. Not a happy mom! I have stayed in the past and had a great experience, this was not. The rooms are wonderful, I have not tried the Casino. I did enjoy the buffet. Fast forward three weeks. Reservations made the same day for this visit and the last visit 3 weeks ago. Was told at a previous visit that if I mention Graceland University they offer a discount. Last stay three weeks ago with discount, the same room was $69 per night. This time the room is $30 more per night, this visit it is $99 per night for the same room. WOW! Plus both visits the pool has been unusable. I will be rethinking my accommodations in the future.

The restaurant, casino, and restrooms are nice and we'll maintained. The slot machines are terrible. I haven't won a dime in my last 20 or so trips. I realize casinos are not built on winners, but it would be nice to win every once and a while. Impossible to win down there. My wife wanting to go is the only reason I even look at that casino anymore. I just watch her lose her money now.

Unbelievable. It's been a while since someone really impressed me. When I cashed out at a machine, I did not check the ticket balance before I walked away. The machine had printed the wrong amount and shorted me the last of my "Gambling" money. After awhile of walking around, I was approached my the management, who had caught the mistake, and actually found me! He Handed me a corrected ticket and my luck got even better. So impressed about this. This was such a wonderful weekend for me and my husband, besides that everyone I came in contact with was wonderful.

Have always enjoyed coming down but today after finally able to get back done there was very disappointed to see that you have taken out the tahiti mafia machines back by the cashier booth. That is mainly the only machines I played and have spent a lot of money on them because with my husband having Parkinson disease he would know where I was. Miss you no longer have the noon buffet but knew that. Have been coming down there since first opened but probably won't be down as much now.

We only went for the buffet. The Diamond Jo casino in Dubuque IA has an excellent buffet any day of the week. We, my husband and I, thought all casino buffets would be good. Wrong! We went to Lakeside on a Sunday 5:00. The fried foods (chicken, onion rings etc…) were cold, meat balls and prime rib no flavor, biscuits were cold and hard, fried shrimp was not cooked, pies were bland, obviously purchased and just thawed out. The waitress we had was the only employee who smiled back at us. It was just awful all the way around. They gave us a little 'how was your visit' card to fill out, and someone before us had already written "buffet not worth the money" on it. So true. It was a waste our $40.00. I'll bet they don't get many repeat customers.

Went to the Matchbox Twenty concert on the 16th and had a great time. It was a decent venue and the band's were fantastic, despite the unfortunate weather. I also had the prime rib buffet before the concert in the hotel, and it was some of the best buffet food I've ever had by far! Overall, I'd go again!

We stayed for 2 nights, from Friday to Sunday. Was told at check-in that pool was closed for renovation. Room was nice and on 1st floor. Beds were very comfortable.

Good place to rest and play too.

Lived our stay at the Lakeside Casino. Went for a friend's 21st birthday party. Had a great dinner at the surf and turf buffet, let the kids head off to the pool while we hit up the casino. We got an Executive Room and it was very well equipped. Lots of space in the room and we all enjoyed it.

It's a pretty small casino but we had tons of fun and won a little money too. Buffet was really good with friendly service. Room was clean and comfortable. Overall, a great experience. We will be coming back.

While they have some really great machines up-to-date the latest games they're just so tight it's not even funny. While the buffet has got a little better it is still poor. The beef tonight was so tough you couldn't even use a chainsaw on it. Most everything else is deep fried with a terrible batter and greasy.

Nice casino. Only stopped by to stretch our legs on a long trip. Casino was pretty standard. Would stop in again and spend longer than 15 minutes.

My wife and I visit lakeside about once every other month. The buffet is usually nice and stocked. They usually have good pizza and fried chicken. Today we had a variety of items from the buffet and honestly they were all hot and we're very good. The waitress was very quick at taking the dirty plates away and bringing refills when needed. After we ate we went to the casino for a while and didn't really win or lose but it was nice to have some fun and get away for a while. I like that they are working on updating the machines and lay out of this casino. They have one of the better players rewards around we seam to get coupons for free play or buffet once a month. All around it was a good trip and I will for sure come back soon.

Rooms clean, nice big bathrooms. Buffet was pretty good, crab legs on Friday nights. I do not gamble often and only play 50 bucks when I do so would like to see 5 dollar black jack tables instead of 10. The smoking area could be cut off a little better, still smelled. Overall, not bad for a smaller casino in the middle of iowa.

Never stopped here before, but my sister and niece had. We had been decorating our family gravesites and stopped by for lunch. My niece and I shared a tenderloin and my sister had a salad. All great! Service was very attentive even though we showed up 2 minutes before closing. They also had a nice buffet… may have to try that next time!

The service there was very good. The employees at Lakeside were very friendly. Had a very good experience there.

Good food but not very clean.

Overall it's a nice place… good food, nice rooms but it's a tad bit pricey if you're just looking for a quick getaway. They don't offer much of a promotion on much of anything.

Good brakef at buffett. Used to have a good prime rib buffett but their new price now makes it not worth it.

Quick overnight stay was awesome. Got to hit the casinos and managed to walk off ahead. Clean rooms, gracious service staff, and nice casino.

Not a negative experience, but definately not a positive either. Players club is one of the worst ive encountered. Lots of machines but also lots of people.

Very friendly service. Our serverv was a sweetheart. The view was great of the lake. Saw fish jumping and a muskrat swimming across the lake. Enjoyed that very much. The buffet was good the sausage and mashed potatoes were great. Good experience I'll go again if I ever had a chance.

Friendly Staff, OK casino experience. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. However the amount of table games is very limited. The slot machines, in regards to variety and number, is good. Some of the popular table games like roulette were not open at 4 p. M. On a Saturday. The staff stated they did not open them until 6 p. M. The smoke will absorb into your clothes and hair quickly. There does need to be a better ventilation system. Several people on their way out, including my group, complained, about the smell of smoke. I wish more casinos did not allow smoking. There are more non-smokers exclusively adult age groups than there are smokers. Overall the casino experience was good. The buffet and bar was great. I would have given this a higher rating if there were more table games and less smoke.

The whole place smelled like smoke, even the non smoking rooms. It seemed like they threw together a lot of our convention, especially the meals. Beautiful views of the lake though, as long as you don't have the amphitheater screen in the way.

Attended Gary Allen concert at outside venue. The view from the general admission seating area was basically non existent. The stage needs to be raised, and the grassy area graded down to the stage more to make it worth returning for a show.

Affordable and so many things to do. Very clean hotel. Beautiful view. Food was outstanding especially Friday night! Casino is a great atmosphere with happy people and good drinks. Concerts are a blast there also! I will b back so soon.

Crab leg buffet. Long lines. Ran out of steamed legs. Had way to many Cajun spicy legs.

Went to celebrate a birthday and spent most of the night in the casino. The buffet is fine, and the steak we got at the sports bar was delicious. The room was nice and pretty big, but a little cold for me.

Great place and clean. Had the buffet it was not as good as I last remembered but still not to bad. Wish they had better smoke filters.

Had a great time at the casino. Went downstairs, wasn't crowded and even won some money. Complimentary fountain drinks and coffee as well. I will be coming back some day!

Unless you are a high roller then you will probably be treated as if your needs are no concern to them. Terrible customer service, they wouldn't let me reserve a jacuzzi room on a Saturday. Owner only thanks the 5 star reviews and doesn't bother to attempt fixing the problems with the other reviewers. I will never support this business again.

We stayed here last night. The steak buffet was excellent! The casino was of ample size. The sraff was all great, especially at the front deak and waitress. My only complaint is the cigarette smoke. I am not a smoker and the hotel lobby was pretty bad. We stayed on the main level and my room was better than the lobby, but I could still smell it. I went down by the pool on the lower level, and staying down there probably would have been better. It smelled more like the pool. I would think there has to be a way to contain that smoke to the casino and not have it get into the restaurant and hotel.

Service is excellent. Jim the casino host is very friendly and take care of his customer as much as he can. Food buffet needs to be better. The selection are ok, but they need to work on making the quality bettter. The gaming side is not bad, but they need to do a remodel on the casino floor and bar.

Food was horrible, they never set out fresh food. The noodles for the pasta were dry. All the food was not kept very warm. The desserts did not look very appetizing. Will never return to eat here.

Location is about an hour south of DSM. Casino is older and buffet is not the largest. The buffet can have a waiting time of an hour or more for crab legs — — usually only Friday. Casino has ample slot machines. No poker room and okay selection of table games.

I enjoyed our short stay here! Dealers and service were great! Didn't go home with any jackpots, but certainly relaxed!

Needed a hotel for the night and decided to stay here since my wife likes to gamble. Pleasantly surprised! I'm so glad I didn't pay too much attention to the negative reviews.

Nice large clean room at lake level, was treated with respect and Jason is a outstanding host with his caring attitude and concern for everyone is the reason why we shall keep returning. The Thursday night steak buffet was awesome. The only thing I really did not like is the aprons and ties the girls behind the bar had to wear. Great casino, and super friendly staff.

I'll give it what they give back which is always less than you gamble, been there 4 times and have never been in the black. I've noticed the owner only thanks the people giving 5 star reviews. So next time I'll just hand my cash to the valets and then drive off. Save the walk, and I'm pretty sure they would thank me then.

Great location along interstate. We stayed at the rv park, very poorly maintained, ruts/potholes on interior roads as well as rv spots. Good Wi-Fi. Had dinner at the buffet. Outsde lights wete not on at all hoojups. Prime rib was excellent, BUT food on buffet line wasn't replenished in a timely manner. Our server took our drink order, and brought our check. No refill on the drink, dishes not picked up. Last year service and buffet was very good as well as our hotel stay. What has happened in a year? Did notice a very young wait staff.

I'm staying here right now, the room is ok pretty big though, but I just left the buffet and it wasn't the best. I might stay here again but not sure.

Lame! Only one drink at a time, one every twenty minutes, and no doubles. If you even seem intoxicated they will kick your ass out. Do not go.

When I went to check in, the computers were not working, the two women at the desk were in a tizzy. They managed to check in three people ahead of me and after 10 minutes waiting I was told to come back later by one of the women. Then the other women began checking in the people behind me. Not happy, I then walked back to the desk and asked to also be checked in. I had made a reservation on their website and had a printed confirmation. They told me they could not find it. I told them I would gladly cancel the room and go on down the road but they said I would still be charged for the room? So after a lot of hassle I was given what was supposed to be a lakeview non smoking room. The lakeview was crane your head, look sideways beyond the sewage lagoon. The room and indeed the entire facility smelled of smoke. I believe all the smoke from the casino goes through the ventilation system and permeates the entire place. The room was spacious and nicely furnished but the water pressure in the shower was non existant and when asked for the password for Wi-Fi I was told "you don't need one but good luck. ".

I can't believe that the people who wrote bad reviews stayed at the same place as we did. The room was large, clean, quiet, well-appointed, and very reasonably priced. We are over 65, one disabled and the other a veteran with a week-old triple bypass operation. This is really the only sane choice in the area. The staff went out of their way to meet our needs and find us a great rate, 40% less than what the nearby AmericInn quoted for a less desirable room. Super 8 and Day's Inn east of Interstate 35 are disqualified by a busy noisy RR track quite nearby.

IT is a nice place, The buffet tends to have a lil better food than other casino's in Iowa, but the service and seating seems to be off. Lots of empty seats not being bussed and LONG line to stand and stare at those seats s pretty annoying. Nice rooms and really like the seating shower, but would love a bathtub more.
