The good: Spacious rooms, good water pressure, good channel lineup, microwave/fridge in room, lots of pillows, well-lit parking lot. Adequate breakfast offerings, but not much if you have food allergies. The bad: We were given room 204 and told, "this is the last King room I have. " But someone was already IN room 204, and we woke them up trying to get in. Somehow, they had another King room, though, and we were moved. This is apparently a common occurrence, as I found another guest with the same complaint within the last month! People get shot going into occupied rooms unexpectedly. No elevator — bad knees and back here, so that was fun. Housekeeping barged in in the morning — no knock, no announcement, and they weren't wearing anything identifying them as staff. Cheap room, but I guess you don't even get what you pay for. When we spoke with the manager on duty, she tried to blame it on an upcoming system migration, and claimed to have no knowledge of this happening even once, much less multiple times. She apologised, but I just hope they will deal with these cases of incompetent or inattentive staff before someone actually gets hurt.

This was the best Super 8 I have stayed in in a long time. The young man checking us in was personable and friendly. The rooms were clean and newly remodeled. The remodel job had been done very well. It wasn’t like some hotel remodel jobs where they say “remodeled” and they have basically slopped paint on and changed bedding. This was very well done! The free breakfast was nothing other than toast, bagels and cold cereal so that is why I am not giving it 5 stars.

Started out ok staff was nice. First they booked me in a room I went up to it used key to get in when I opened the door there stood a man pulling his pants up. I requested another room aside of being emberrissed the guy gave me my new room right across the hall from the room in which I just opened the door on someone. The new room had a odd smell but I just ignored it. Then I was checking everything out sense I was planning on staying a week and when I opened the fridge it was covered in black mold and smelled horrible. I went to get my money back the guy didn't ask any questions just canceled my room and said the money should refund to my card in a few days. Its been 2 and so far haven't seen it.

The a/c turned on and off throughout the night and was very loud each time it came on. Finally, it shut off in the middle of the night, making the room very hot (this was July when we arrived here). Try as I may, could not get the a/c to turn back on. Finally, around 7am, it came back on and very loudly. Did not have a good sleep as a result. I hope all the rooms at this hotel are not like that.

I was in a very bad situation and the staff here went beyond the call of duty to help me while I figured things out and where I go from here. My laptop was stolen by a crocked clerk and I helped them uncover them for other thefts n my laptop has been recovered but not returned to me yet because it is evidence in the case they have against this person, I was pleased I could help them and they have been very helpful to me I will never forget their kindness.

Checked in on Friday night. The room was clean and we had what we needed. It was very quiet. We just needed a place to sleep and didn't need luxurious. This hotel had a decent price and provide exactly what we needed.

Checked in on Friday night, they didn't have any non-smoking rooms available. I have stayed in smoking rooms before and was ok, so I said ok. Supposed to give me corporate rate. I went to room, within 2 hours, I couldn't take the smoke smell any more. Made me sick. So I went back to the desk and checked out. Girl at desk said she would give to manager Monday morning to address as I wanted a refund. The rate they promised me was gone! Charged me full rate. Total scam and they won't honor the online price of $55. So I speak to Patty the general manager, and she totally did not care and basically said too bad. She would not refund my money, and wouldn't even discount it due to bad experience. Very rude. The smell was so bad my clothes even wreaked of smoke from that room. It was disgusting. Patty would not give me the owners name/number. Terrible customer service and fraud on pricing.

Comfortable bed. Clean room. Staff was very nice… good value for the price paid…

Great view and nice staff. A small roach came charging out of the coffee reservoir when I was pouring in the water. Coffee wasnt "lumpy" though.

I love Super 8 motels they are the most consistently clean and dependable chain of motels at a reasonable price I've found. I travel just about every week. This motel in Mattoon is one of the nicest I've come across. I will stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Good rooms and decent breakfast buffet. A cracked sink in the bathroom. Decent as a stop in longer trips.

Great room for price! Newly remodeled rooms. A little musty but turned on a. C. And was gone in a few minutes. Very clean except shower knob needs a deep clean. Staff really nice! Will probably stay here again.

The room was clean the service was awesome everything was new in the room I only had to stay for a quick overnight stay but it's was a great experience.

I stayed in Mattoon Super 8 for the second time. It's a great place; rooms were just remodeled and the bathrooms look nice. Fees are great for the type of room and they offered a nice breakfast. I am sure I'll be coming back soon. Pets are allowed too!

If you have stayed at enough Super 8 motels you know there are some really nice ones, and some terrible. When they are nice they are among the best cheap motels you can stay at. This is one of the modern, clean, good Super 8 motels. Internet was poor but that might have just been my room.

This was by far the best Super 8 I've stayed in and even better than some hotels I've stayed in! I have always been against staying in these places, but I was here for a track meet and looked online and the page had super nice pictures and a good price. I called and asked to see if they were true pictures, she said yes and was very honest, so I took a chance. I asked them to place me as far away from the smoking rooms and they did, the room was clean and the bed was so comfortable, especially with my back problems as an athlete. If I come back next year I know where I'm staying! The breakfast seemed small but I ate at Steak and Shake anyways to get a full breakfast. But I'll post pictures if my room to prove that it was great and only 71 dollars after tax.

We had a very nice stay while visiting. Friendly staff, clean room, and typical hotel breakfast. Good deal for the money.

This Super 8 location has a friendly staff, a clean lobby and rooms, easy access to Interstate 57, and good prices ($50-60, if one reserves the room ahead of time). The breakfast was not extraordinary, but was nice enough. I could not see any negatives with the place. Recommended. Rjt.
