We enjoyed our stay at the Carmel Lodge. Very helpful & friendly staff. Nice light breakfast served in our room. After exploring beautiful Carmel, we had a very comfy bed for the night.

This is the de pun year we have stayed here and we love it! Very centrally located! ❤️

Great quaint location in the heart of Carmel… great staff, nice rooms and very affordable option for Carmel… we would recommend Carmel Lodge.

We loved how close it is to the beach (15 minute walk) and all the walking treats Carmel has to offer — coffee, restaurants, shopping, people watching. The service is exceptional: we were upgraded to a King Fireplace room when we arrived at no additional charge due to a quirk in reservations. It totally made our trip! The free breakfast delivered to the room was tasty, with fresh fruit, pastries, and coffee to start us off. Overall highly recommended, we'll be back!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. Overall it was clean and in a great location. The staff were also really friendly. The continental breakfast was better than most, for sure. The eggs were not just edible, but actually very well prepared, the sausages were too. I was also surprised how good the donuts were! If I'd bought them at donut shop I would've been happy with their quality, high praise for continental hotel breakfast donuts! The rooms are a little noisy. It could just be bad neighbor's, but I think things could be quieter. Perhaps exacerbating things is that there doesn't appear to be an AC unit to help cover up unwanted sounds. The bathrooms are large, with good water pressure, but the rooms do feel a little worn and outdated. They are clean though, so that's good (I did a thorough bedbug check and didn't find any unwanted critters lurking about). The view is pretty, especially above the 2nd floor. Parking was sufficient too. I wish the prices were a little lower, but it's Carmel so this is about as affordable as it gets. Overall a pretty good experience. We'd definitely stay again.

The location was excellent. Walking distance from beach. I just believe the price outweighed the room. However its a case by case thing. I had a double queen room. The breakfast could have been better but I enjoyed the stay and everything I just wish for the price the rooms would have been nicer.

Cleaner room, better breakfast, much bigger room for breakfast with some character, an exercise room and laundry facilities would make this place one that I recommend and I would return to.

Takes full advantage of being conveniently located and are horrible to customers in addition to over charging. Asked for a fan, front desk responds that they are “closed” for the night and to check back in the morning on a one night stay. Stay away and support the actual mom and pop inns in the area instead of this franchise. Did I mention that if you have kids, they won’t be able to run around since the carpets aren’t clean enough? Don’t forget the paper thin wall special either. All of this for a $250 “King suite”. The place should be rated 0.

My husband and I started at Carmel Lodge to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, and had an excellent experience. We couldn't have been more happy with the location. It's within walking distance of so many delicious local restaurants, art galleries, shops, and the beach. It's also conveniently located near Hwy 1, so it was easy to go out and explore the area each day. We were very pleased with our room, and enjoyed the use of the fireplace, fridge, and microwave. Having the continental breakfast delivered to our room was a relaxing way to start the day. They also went the extra mile by providing us a bottle of champagne in our room with a signed card celebrating our anniversary. The service here was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the housekeeping service runs the vacuum in the hallways in the morning, making it difficult to sleep in. Being on vacation without our child, we were hoping for some quiet mornings. However, we extended our stay an extra day and plan to stay here again in the future.

Friendly staff, clean and pleasant atmosphere. I was not dtaying but helping someone check in and it was a pleasant experience. They were understanding of my clients unique situation and helped ease the process.

No frills lodging in a good location. Perks include Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, and easy parking. The room I stayed in was small with the bare essentials so it's best if you don't plan to spend much time in your room on your trip.

Great location and clean and comfortable rooms. The property isn't anything to brag about, but great value for cost in Carmel and have everything you need for a simple stay. Stayed overnight for a nearby wedding.

Very friendly staff, room was clean, and the lodge is in a great location. It was a little more noisy than we prefer, but overall the experience was good.

Rooms are clean. Very convenient location and friendly front desk staff. No air conditioning.

Everything was okay or acceptable. The breakfast was good. The views from our second floor room did enable us to see the ocean.

Location of the hotel Super Central, free parking, nicely furnished and above all clean room and bathroom as well as a clean bed.
Negative was besides the very overpriced price of more than 200 dollars for one night also this impossible, Megawinzige breakfast room, which was already as good as grazed at 8:00 am, so we had to go to the café at our own expense, a cold pool, a missing hot tub and no pool Towels. Annoying was a broken bath drain, so that the steady water had to run after not wanting to sit in the tub on the dry.

Best location in Carmel. You'll park your car and walk all over the city. The rooms were upgraded a couple of years ago so they are nice and clean. The hotel has a pool and breakfast.

Without doubt is a great and affordable place to stay in Carmel. Well located, fair price, clean and comfortable accomodations (the bed is awesome! ) and good complete facilities. You can park your car and get around by foot easily. Reliable Wi-Fi. Fast check-in/check-out. I strongly recommend.

A fair price. They knock on your door and bring breakfast to your room. Beds made each day. Nice and clean. Hot showers. My only complaint is that they, for those of us that are environmentally conscious — it's disappointing that they use used paper coffee cups instead of real mugs for breakfast. Paper coffee cups can't be recycled. But, they did use real cups for the orange juice — and real plates as well. Very time place to stay. Rooms come with little balconies too. And the location is just fantastic.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked this hotel via bringfido because my mom and I wanted to go to Monterey/Big Sur for MLK weekend and bring our Mini Aussie Jill. My mom is disabled and cannot walk up stairs; when I booked the room I specifically stated that we needed a ground room floor. I was told by bringfido that they confirmed we had a ground floor room reserved. When we checked in, we were given a 2nd level room and the manager on duty profusely apologized and said there was n…othing she could do and all the other guests were checked-in into ground floors and that we would have to wait and could be moved the next night. She blamed bringfido and told us that no one from there left any notes on our account about a ground floor room. I reached out to bringfido (who provided me evidence) that a ground floor was confirmed with Maureen. They "fought" it for me on behalf and I was told that I was going to get the $70 pet fee ($35 X2 nights) waived. The next day Maureen said the same thing — it was BringFido's fault when it clearly was not and never owned up to their mistake and offered me anything for the major inconvenience. To add insult to injury, Carmel Lodge charged me a $35 pet fee. And I had to call to get it removed, after they told me they wouldn't.

Very cute lodge. Beds were comfortable but the bathrooms were pretty basic. Loved that they brought you breakfast to your room in the morning for free! Location was great, quick walk to everything!

The hotel is very well located, the rooms were remodeled and having free parking in Carmel is a big plus.

Nice place, rooms a little small, but perfect location and amenities. This is really all you need in carmel, would be nice if they allowed dogs, so I am not sure we will stay here again, but I loved the time we spent here.

The room was very loud — the AC, the fridge, the ice machine. The carpet of the room also didn't feel clean. The bed was comfy, the furniture dated but functional, the room was big enough. The window couldn't be darkened properly. The breakfast had a good selection.

Nice little inn… some of the rooms facing the street are noisy; best bet is to get a room in the interior second level. Parking is available… just leave your car… everything you need is a short walk away… cataloged under… inexpensive and clean.

Very cute little lodge in the heart of Carmel with ample guest parking. The rooms are very clean, although a little small, but the service is the true shining part about this place. We got in around 11:30 at night, and the owner still offered to help us brew tea or coffee when we asked if there was a vending machine for drinks. Also, the room comes with a small continental breakfast that they bring directly to your room. We also accidentally left something in the room, and the front desk management really went all out in making sure to track us down and keep everything safe for us. I was honestly so impressed with them, and would highly recommend staying here!

After 6.500 km ROADTRIP we wanted to stay in one place for three days, in Carmel and at the Carmel Lodge. We were received professionally and were immediately briefed with a plan and the main addresses of the place. The rooms are large, with a small kitchenette, a sitting area and a separate bathroom. Own parking spaces in the courtyard.
Mini breakfast was provided at the requested time in the room. Due to the existing kitchen, the finishing of the breakfast was no problem.
Very good location for tours to Point Lobo State Park, Monterey or 17 mile drive. We would book this location again.

This is a great location, close to art galleries, shops, and restaurants, and a few blocks walk, down hill, to the beach. The hotel is just off Hwy 1 and easy to find. Parking is free, but the spaces are very tight. Also, there is no air conditioning in the room but they did provide a portable fan which helped. The room and bathroom were a bit small, but not surprising since it is an older hotel, but clean and nicely updated. There is also a nice sun deck with plenty of seating and a sunset view of the ocean. When it is cooler, it would be a nice place to hang out and enjoy the fireplace.

Best Western Carmel's Town House Lodge at Carmel-by-the-sea is an outstanding value and a beautiful hotel. Shammy is The Innkeeper and there is nothing more she could have done to show appreciation or improve our stay. Absolutely impeccable and we sincerely appreciate Shammy. People like her will have us return to Best Western in the future.

Rooms were fine and everything I'd expect. Only down side is no ac in the rooms, heater only. To be fair no hotels in Carmel have ac. They do provide a little circular fan but it's something to keep in mind if you're staying when it's on the hotter side.

The hotel room was small. I think most of the hotel rooms in Carmel are probably small due to the location of the hotel. That being said, it was a great overall experience because of where we were. I would definitely stay here again! A warning though, they have no air conditioning. It was not needed if you leave your windows open. They did have a fan in the room that was quiet. For where you are, the price of the hotel was reasonable.

We stayed here because it was in the center of everything. It's so convenient, we left our car parked here the whole long weekend. Everything was in walking distance for the reasonably fit. The South end of Carmel area was about a 3 mile hike away. So we avoided the tourist driving mess. No air conditioning though, because you USUALLY don't need one. Complimentary breakfast was decent. Parking was plenty, but small. A good number were compact vehicle parking.

Great location in Carmel. Desk staff were really nice and helpful. The room was nicer than I expected so all was good.

We did a last minute booking. The staff was nice, the bed was ok. It seemed clean. They gave us Strawberries, coffee or tea, pastries, and a choice of Juice delivered to our room. Usually with things like that, I would have rated the hotel higher. Unfortunately, I'm giving them a low rating because of all of the noise. Their walls must be way too thin because I could hear yelling and conversations from somewhere (with the talking they were talking in normal tones, but I could still hear them). We were in room 4 and all night we also heard people walking above us. Between the "boom" of the people above us hitting the ground, to the creaking of them walking (assuming they were going to the bathroom a lot), the running feet above us (didn't really look. I don't know if we were below a hallway; but there was running feet late at night and early morning multiple times) we got a pretty rough night's sleep.

It's a great location. Breakfast wasn't good and the plugs in the room are super loose.

I have been staying here for over 3 years in and off for work and pleasure and you will not find a more quaint personal clean and friendly home away from home! We love Elizabeth!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything a guest needed. The pool area was very pleasant, and I particularly liked the sun terrace on the roof. We did find it difficult to locate.

We enjoyed the location and the appearance of this hotel. The morning breakfast was very adequate to start the day. The top loft patio for visiting was nice too. The room was very comfortable also. The bathrooms are more modern spa like. The shower spray was great too. (I always watch for that and enjoy a good shower) … I will definately come back there. A few quick blocks to town also.

Not unusual for Carmel, but the room is very small with no a/c. Make sure you get a room with windows on both sides so you have ventilation. Ours did not so it was stuffy. This was the most economical place to stay in Carmel and within easy walking distance of everything, including the beach. The roof top deck is a nice place to sit in the mornings or evenings.

Great little hotel. Nice little pool area for sunning in the afternoon. Nice upstairs sun deck to eat your breakfast. Very friendly service!

Pretty nice BW. Great location and very friendly staff.
It is an old building so expect dated things like radiator heaters and probably no AC (I didn't see vents or AC controls).
Some of the outlets are also so old that anything you plug in just falls out so maybe that's something management can get replaced on the cheap.
Other than that, they do have updated furniture, TVs, Wi-Fi, etc.
The breakfast room is very small so expect to wait in line to get your food.

We just stayed one night recently — we were looking for somewhere not too expensive that was relatively central to town. The room was clean, a little warm at night (but I was too lazy to get up and play with the heater so obviously not too bad! ). Breakfast was provided the next morning — normal continental fare. We did not use the pool so can't comment on that. If you are looking for somewhere to put your head down whilst enjoying the surroundings, this place will be absolutely fine.

Very nice hotel, with everything needed for a nice stay in Carmel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with an excellent location just to blocks from Ocean Ave. The breakfast hearty and delicious, kids ate waffles daily! Last but not least I would like to thank the front desk and their nice people. Shari help us a great deal, my son left his shoe in the room and she did everything posible to mail it. We finally we received it at home just as it was left. Would stay again! Thanks!

Great location — we ended up walking everywhere and stayed an extra night. Free parking with your room (one less thing to worry about while in Carmel). Loved that they brought the continental breakfast to your room in the morning! I would definitely stay here again.

Beds were very comfortable and staff was great.

Good location but quite noisy (street noise and neighboring guests) because of thin walls / single glaze windows. Basic not fancy.

Positives for us: very convenient location downtown Carmel, even though we had to wake to traffic noise… ; price was right for 2 king-bed rooms, not adjoining, for our family of 4; accepted our dog with a reasonable pet policy; ample guest parking on site; very friendly staff! =) King bed was ample and very comfortable; Free and functioning Wi-Fi. Negatives for us: no fridge or coffee/tea in room for personal items; rate included continental breakfast, but for the sleep-interrupting knock at 9am (latest possible time offered), it wasn't worth it for luke-warm water for a Lipton tea bag… The Carmel Lodge is a solid 3-star hotel: clean, comfortable, but a bit dated. It vibes more a motel than a hotel, but is small and not tired or run-down. Excellent location downtown Carmel. Despite its street sign, there is no restaurant or cocktail lounge, though…!

The TV is from the early 2000s. Its a tube, not flat screen. The pool was drained and no hot tub. No mini fridge. The outlets were scarce. The shower head was weak. The beds were great. One king and one queen. The sheets were the softest I've ever had. There are no tables besides the ends. The dresser is not very useful. No A/C. Pricier than what it should have been. Go down the road a bit to Briarwood Inn. Looks much better from the pictures.

Fantastic Location and Wonderful Hotel! We were here in APRIL 2014 for the spring break. What a great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful and hygienic. In the morning the breakfast bar was hosted well. I would definitely stay here again.

Very good stay. Hotel staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Room was clean and comfortable. It was a bit expensive but I liked it. Located in the heart of the Carmel Village, it's two blocks from Ocean Ave. Easy check-in and check-out.

Very quiet small place. The rooms are small however I didn't come to Carmel to stay in the hotel. Awesome location with plenty of parking. I loved that we could walk to dinner and to the beach. I will definitely stay here again.

The best Best Western ever. We didn't expect the hotel was that good when we booked, but room was new and very clean, and service was warm. We could stay great hotel with reasonable price. Awesome.

I've been staying in Carmel for years and for a destination town the overnight options are admittedly slim and pricey for the quality of stay. I always stay at the the Carmel Lodge because I find it to be a clean and reasonably priced option compared to the other hotels in town. Its a couple blocks to Ocean Ave and most of my favorite restaurants are within a stone's throw.

This place is awful. The rooms are tiny, and smell terrible (consequence of being dog friendly, but without adequate cleaning service, perhaps? ) Was this place converted from a Motel 6? Additionally, the front desk people are rude, incompetent and dishonest. Would give zero stars, If I could. Please, don't waste your weekend — — just stay elsewhere. Lobos Lodge is very nice.

Upon check-in we were told there is a $10 parking fee to park in the hotel lot. As guests checked in, they were told they could park on the street but would have to move their car every two hours. First time we had to pay to park in a hotel lot when staying at a hotel in Carmel. Due to computer problems took 15 minutes for check in. In the morning, we discovered there was no hair dryer in room but after 2 insistent calls to the front desk, 20 minutes later the front desk finally found one in another room. Room was very small and decor was shabby plus lots of mold around shower door. On the plus side, good location and staff tried very hard to be helpful.
