This hotel will definitely give you an unforgettable experience. First of all, the hotel provides you a room that is smelly, dirty and outdated. If you like to stay at a place that has no amenities, this would be your best bet. Second of all, whenever there is something wrong with the room, such as missing toilet paper, not having enough hangers, or even a lack of hot water, don’t panic, it might just take a few days for it to get fixed. Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns, the lady manager is extremely good at bull$#! +! ng and disrespecting the customers. She will try her best to prove to you that whatever problem/concern you have is your own problem. Enjoy your stay.

Run do not walk. This is the worst place ever. Dirty, Roaches, No TV signal, No Elevator, Prison Cell, Rude, SMALL. I can go on and on. The bed sheets and pillows were scarey. We immediately went out and bought pillows sheets, roach spray, bed bug powder. I wanted to experience Chinatown but my God they tricked me with the nice pictures. It is nothing like the pictures. We kept our suitcases locked for fear of roaches and bugs. They need to close, knock the Building down and start from scratch Oh wait the water pressure in the shower is GREAT but keep your shoe on or the mold will get you.

Worse place ever in my entire life. Would never recommend, even to a dead person family. Terrible.

We were on a weekend trip to Chicago and looking for a hotel close to downtown that was affordable. Chinatown Hotel worked great for our needs. The location is great, super close to the Red Line for public transit and the atmosphere from being in Chinatown was friendly and fun. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. It’s definitely a budget hotel — the building shows clear signs of aging, the rooms are small, the beds are fine but not the most comfortable I’ve experienced, and there’s an overall cheap feel to the place. But the room was clean and we were comfortable during our stay. Considering the location it was a good value for us. An important note is there isn’t an elevator, which could be an issue for some guests.

Was going to give this place a decent review from my stay last night — it's barebones accomodation but nothing worse than a little scuzz in the shower and someone else's hair on a towel. However this morning I woke to the sounds of a young woman screaming for help and struggling against someone in the back alley. Because there's an "ALL ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES WILL BE REPORTED TO 911" sign on their front door and I had no way of knowing if it was an employee playing around or the local homeless color (you know what cities are like), I called the front desk to let the young man working know. He was completely disinterested, didn't know what was going on, and his only reassurances were that it was probably coming from the building next door. Female travelers, you're not safe here. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on safer digs.

Best price to stay in Chicago. Room is ok. But no TV or controller for AC when I checked in, they have me a remote the next day. Region is very quietly and has a lot of restaurant at Good prices.

Went to Chicago for a Grateful Dead cover band show, and had to stay at the Chinatown Hotel, the rooms were pretty nice, not all that clean, most people don't speak that much English but hey, what are you going to do in Chinatown. I honestly wasn't the one that paid for the trip so I can't even tell you how much the room was but I'm pretty sure it was cheap, so that's a plus.

The rooms are so out dated. I went to the front desk to ask for fresh linens and the desk clerk said no one is in housekeeping. Why and how does that happen. There should always be housekeeping on the clock. The sldesk clerk is not friendly.

Good location.
It's time to make repairs. The lack of a lift and a suitcase on a narrow staircase is extremely problematic. The… The reception was not able to do anything, because they barely speak English.

Ok but expensive very small room but it makes you feel like you in Chinatown.

Just a digital converter TV, no microwave, or coffee maker. Was worth it. Great near by Food options. Or Munchies.

The only good thing about this hotel it that it’s near the McCormick Place and the employees are nice, but is a real depressing site. The forniture are old, rooms very tiny and not so clean, and it seems to be a insecure neighborhood. Not recommended at all.

It's clean but old does need better cable tv. Rooms outdated but something charming about the hotel.

Hot small rooms with bedbug stains on the mattresses. I saw two rooms and got a refund immediately.!

This place is nice place to come and get some much needed rest, the water pressure here is amazing nice nice hot shower that well wake you up. Check it out.

We stayed there for 1 night. The staff were so friendly! They could’ve been a little clearer on where to park. The location was awesome with a lot of restaurants and shops. The room needs a little updating. The shower was gross. The toilet was broken. The toilet paper holder was broken. The TV was broken. The bed was uncomfortable. It was only $50 for the night so it did it’s job. Great location and staff, bad rooms.

Very cheap room near downtown Chicago but the hotel is definitely no frills and my room was kind of dirty.

Looks better than expected and the rooms are rather comfortable. Although the constant siren might be a slight annoyance at night. All in all, location was the key of my choice.

This hotel was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are HUGE! The beds and pillows were very comfy.

My friend and I visited Chicago to tour a film school, and when researching hotels before our trip we found Chinatown Hotel to meet all our requirements while still being quite cheap. When we arrived we were not disappointed, everything was what we expected or better and the location of the hotel was perfect too. 5/5 would recommend.

Decent location. Easy access to trains and only a few stops from downtown. Rooms were outdated, had very few features (TV with a couple of channels and A/C) and far from cozy. The building is older so there is no elevator, which after a long day of walking was rough. I would stay there again if I couldn't find a deal downtown again.

Cheap and affordable. Great location in heart of Chinatown with close proximity to public transportation. Very basic amenities but helpful and friendly staff.

Great place to stay. The rooms are small. If you are looking to stay in your room for your entire visit them it might be a problem. Otherwise its close to lots of things. The room was clean and bathroom clean. There is no elevator so if you are on the 3 rd floor its 3 flights of stairs. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Good hotel for fast trips to Chicago. Not fancy but fair enough. Excellent Chines neighbor for good food.

Alert! Hotel doesn't have it's own parking. We had to pay $15 for the car in nearby public parking. Alert! There is no elevators in Hotel. Except lobby, all hotel rooms were old style and had some no good smell. Our room was having two double beds which were fine and had comfortable sleep.

Rooms are tiny, and the hot water didn't always work, but the rooms were clean and close to the transit. The place is spartan, but if you're okay with a hotel that has zero style, then this place gives you your money's worth. I stayed over April 1st and the two nights were $50 a night. However, I would NOT leave any valuables in the room. Some of the rooms have the same key. But then again, I don't travel with electronics, so there was nothing left in the room to steal.

So far so good. Clean. The room, as most of China Town, smells a little musty. But that's the entire area really. The experience of staying in China Town is worth the smaller rooms and must smell. Plus, we're spending most our time in Chicago. Not in a hotel room. If you want a 5 star hotel, this isn't it, if you want a decent room, for a good price, stay here. TV sucks though. I think it's that free TV, and it keeps going out. 4 stars only because of the TV. If they had cable it would have 5 stars.

Good service, they checked us in at 9 am instead of regular 3 pm check in.

This place was disgusting. Stains everywhere. Splatter stains all over the walls in the bathroom. Cockroaches smashed and dried on the walls. Just all around dirty place. Went to talk to the man at the counter about it and he accused us of going up to the room and smashing the bugs on the walls and dirtying the room and then wanting a refund. I'm not sure what the point of us going to the room, smashing bugs and somehow making old stains and then wanting a refund would be but that's what he said. He became very upset and rude when we asked for a different room or when he heard we thought it was dirty. He demanded we go up to the room and show him and I showed him the pictures on my phone that I took and he kept saying I did it. He went up to the room for a long time and came back saying he didn't see anything wrong. He then kept demanding I go up there with him and I simply told him the way he was behaving and getting extremely angry for no reason was making me uncomfortable and honestly I didn't want to go all the way upstairs with him when he was acting that way. He made a comment about not killing me and after that I was done. I felt way too gross in that room and there's no way I would sleep in that bed and on top of that, felt very uncomfortable with the temper of the man at the counter. The place definitely does NOT look like the pictures and unfortunately we booked online thinking the pictures were up to date. We ended up leaving.

Entrance lobby and hallways are nice. Hotel room is small and carpet is dirty. No warm/hot water for sink and moldy shower head. Sheets/pillows looked okay but was below standard. Mattress protector had stains. Towels were worn down. Room had a strange Oder. Smoke detect was hanging from celling by its wires. Tv and cable was nice, tho it was small. Would have been worth the extra money to stay somewhere nicer.

I have lived in chicago quite sometime… never have I lived in a tiny dated, quite, cheap, beautiful, easy going, busy minding, free Wi-Fi, non violent and all look the same motel in my life yes they are a little bit late on having up to date things, but this have not been the worst experience I have ever had turns out not to be that bad if you dont require all the fine things in life. Will I stay again definitely yes.

Smoke alarms didn't work. Found dirty bugs In bed. Water for shower was orange at first. No elevator. Sewer rat in main lobby. Dirty place over all not recommended. Poor quality place.

WAY too expensive for a place of this quality. Dirty, tiny rooms, missing door knobs, bed was hardly made, ac didn't work, shower had nasty crud all over the walls… just to name a few things wrong with this place. Would NEVER recommend staying here.
