Stayed here for 2 nights and the price was great! The owner is super sweet and goes the extra mile for her guests. The rooms are a nice size. The place makes you feel very at home.

Absolutely fantastic. My wife and I stumbled upon here in 2014. The owner Marie is wonderful. The rooms are spotless. Who needs a chain hotel when you can stay with folks that make you feel like family. Been here 4 times and also sent friends. All agree! 1 block from the beach off the boards. We could stay anywhere, but after the 1st time… no place else but Marie and the King Charles Hotel.

Decent family-fiendly atmosphere. The rooms are clean as well as the bathroom. It is close to the broadwalk. I think what makes this place outstanding isn't so much the quality of the rooms but more the quality of the service. The owner gave a special allowance to my family, we have an 8-year old and an infant, the opportunity to check-in at 3am in the early morning. It is not her customary service but I explained to her that we were had a long journey and memorial day traffic extended our arrival. We were willing to sleep in the car if it was an inconvenience. What she didn't know was my husband would had driven 9hrs, our infant had diarrhea and needed constant diaper change and our 8year old had to be picked from NY instead of NJ and we live in MD. So, did we appreciate this business… more than you can imagine. The cleaning staff was also exceptional. Didn't give it 5 stars because there are no curtains to block daylight and the AC is quite loud. But our room had a ceiling fan which was ok for us.

Owners were polite and very friendly. Perfect feel for a family vacation.

Great place to stay, the owner is very nice and everyone there was also. It’s clean, quiet, and more of a family friendly place. To the person who complained about her because of “young age” is totally false, I’m 19 and as long as you follow her rules and not be loud and obnoxious, you’ll have no problems. Defiantly will be a place id come back next year!

Amazing owner who is so kind and accommodating, she even bakes deserts for the guests every night! Hesitant to leave this review because I don't want everyone to know how great this place is, I'm afraid she'll book up!

I stayed here in the summer with my son. It is a great location to the boardwak. We loved the hospitality! Staff and owner are super nice! The hotel is older but it is very clean and taken care of very well. The owner is on top of any maintenance issues. My son's favorite thing was the freshly baked cookies or brownies that were offered every evening! We will def be coming back!

This hotel is a great place to stay. The rooms are basic but perfect for what we wanted. The rooms and hotel are clean and comfortable. The front desk attendant was incredibly helpful and kind. She makes cookiea in the evening! The hotel is safe and centrally located, close to the boardwalk and beach. Rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. I would absolutely stay here again.

The lady that runs the place is very nice. She has plates and napkins and stuff downstairs. The rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave. The prices are reasonable. This is a very nice place to host a family vacation. I would come back.

We stayed at the King Charles Hotel for a three night stay. The location couldn't get much better… It is across the street from the board walk and beach. The hotel is well kept. The lobby and our room were very clean. Coffee and desserts are served in the lobby daily. While that's very nice, and the cookies and brownies are delicious, I think I would prefer to have a small coffee pot in my room. The appliances that were in the room (window AC, mini-fridge, and microwave) looked brand new and worked like they were. The rooms do need curtains… With only white blinds, there is no denying the sunshine and sleeping in isn't much of an option. This hotel is quaint, small, and has a home feel. Because it is so small (only 10ish rooms) there is no pool. That was a detail we overlooked when booking but definitely impeded on our vacation, as we had a young child with us and there are no public pools in Ocean City. All in all, this hotel is clean, cozy, and we will be staying here again. If cleanliness and location are your priorities, you'll enjoy staying here too.

The Lee Family! We love King Charles Hotel! For the past 3 years we always come back to this Hotel. We have so much fun and really enjoy our stay there. Its clean and the staff is friendly and the coffee is great. The rooms make you feel like your staying at the beach. We will be staying there again this summer when we go on our Vacation. This hotel is by far one of the best and cleanest in OC, if not the best ever! The are rooms quaint and the decor is perfect. The staff is friendly, professional and hospitable. Their website pics are not deceiving. The owner has impeccable taste and she's very tidy. I love this hotel and highly recommend vacationing here.

Simple accomadations but clean and well located.

I rented this hotel on short notice and I'm glad I did because it is located in one of the best place on Ocean city. I rented a 1 king bedroom, which comes with a refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV and a small table with two chairs. The room is pretty small (studio size) and it does have a musty smell, which is a minus in my book. Other than a musty smell, it is a pretty decent place and the owner marry is very nice and straight forward. The place has a small hose on the back of the hotel, which is used to wash off the sand from the beach (nice touch). Another plus is the parking is free and it comes with your reservation, which is sweet. The maid does her job and even comes on a daily bases to fix your room while you go about your business. Overall, this place is great and I won't hesitate to rent it again, especially for the price you pay. I recommend this place if you are trying to save big, while going big in Ocean city, like myself.

It's a basic hotel situated in excellent location. Hotel is very clean and well kept. It can be considered old fashioned. There are no elevators so it was a drag for us to walk to the 3rd floor. Bathroom is small and not a big space for shower. You have to put all your stuff in the floor and there are no taps to just wash your hand or feet. You get what you pay for. This is a solid 3.5 out of 5 hotel based on location and cleanliness.

This place is awesome! I am very picky about where I stay. At first, wasn't sure about this place but I'm glad I picked it. The room was extremely clean and well put together. The first thing I always do is take down the sheets and searched the beds for anything bad. I couldn't find as much as a dust bunny in any of the corners of the room. Its literally a 5 minute stroll to the beach and boardwalk. The staff is extremely nice and attentive. The price was awesome! I can't wait to go again!

Can't say enough amazing things about this hotel! We were at a diff hotel and came here and were swept off our feet from the moment we walked in by the staff! The rates are great, fridge, microwave, a/c, they provide (upon request at no charge) beach towels, cups, plates, silverware, band aids and much more. The staff was just amazing. Security guards & surveillance camera at all times, foot bath for sand, amazingly clean rooms, ACTUALLY CLEAN** and smells amazing. Large bags of ice only $2. The woman who takes care of this hotel obviously cares about her guests and really has thought of everything to create a beautiful, reasonably priced, accommodating hotel!

This is no doubt a great hotel. Small, quiet, clean and in a nice no-so-congested area right by the boardwalk. The staff was friendly enough and the room were small, not tiny, but comfortable enough for our party of 4. 4 stars because the room we stayed in on the first floor had a very bright light right outside the window. We ended up placing towels over the window to sleep. Also, one of our days there we were occupying the room when room service came so we told them to come back but they never did. Overall am enjoyable experience and comfortable stay for a great price, I'll definitely be back.

The Staff and Management are always very nice and accommodating. My family has been staying here at least once a year for something like 10 years now. Great prices for being so close to the boardwalk! Highly recommend.

This is honestly the best hotel I've stayed in in ocean city. Excellent customer service, the whole place was really clean, free parking. I'm definitely coming back.

This is, as the owner described it, a "mom and pop" hotel. It reminded us of being in Europe! The staff were all very nice and the the hotel is immaculate. The owner is extremely nice and professional. We really felt relaxed and can't beat the location. Great place.

Loved it! My wife and I went to OCMD for a day trip but decided to stay a night. After stopping in or calling a few places, we found this little beauty. The owner was at the front desk and made it way too easy for us. Everything was pretty much perfect. Sweet family. The place has their own parking on site and not blocks away or in a big parking garage. The location was perfect! Only a 30 sec walk to the boardwalk and its nestled on a smaller road so you don't have traffic noise. The rooms all have their own AC unit so you can control it as you wish. As someone else mentioned before, the rooms were the cleanest hotel/motel/inn I have truly ever seen and you can tell that they wash everything, every time. Nothing like I've seen before. Now for those who believe you need to party it up, need chocolates on your pillow or must have every amenity in your room, this isn't the place. This is the place for the normal Joe and families. Its safe, clean, quiet and comfortable. Just give em a shot. You'll be happy, I'm sure.

Our trip to Ocean City came about at kind of the last minute, and I was surprised to find such a well-reviewed hotel as the King Charles still had a vacancy, and at a price lower than most other hotels in the same area that weren't as well-reviewed. It was what I expected given what I'd read in the other reviews. It's a family-owned hotel where quieter/mature guests are preferred. One parking space is allocated per room, and the spaces in the lot just behind the hotel (they apparently have another lot nearby but I'm not sure where) are a bit narrow, but I was able to park my sedan with just a bit of caution and patience. That lot is at the back of the hotel, accessible via an alley on the left side of N. Baltimore Ave just past the hotel itself. The back of the hotel is monitored by security cameras, and you can access the back door to each floor using your room key: the back entrances are the only proper way in in the late evening or when you're coming back from the beach (there's a rinse hose for removing sand at the back of the hotel). The room itself was cozy but nice: small queen-size bed with a dresser, 3ft tall refrigerator, microwave, flat-panel TV with standard cable channels, and a small round table with two chairs. Wi-Fi Internet access was excellent. Full bathroom with standard shower. Towels and bar soap are provided in the room with shampoo and such available on request from the front desk. Window AC unit was a bit loud but we were able to tune it out.

Me and my boyfriend wanted to get away for a three-day weekend! We opted to try a bed and breakfast for the first time. It was a great value compared to all the other motels/hotels in the area. The hotel was so conveniently located a block away from the beach. The main broadwalk area was not too far of a walk. The hotel was also located smacked in the middle of the boardwalk and the area where the other places to go aka Seacrets, Blue Rawhouse/Crabhouse, and mini golfing. The staff was so friendly. They even baked the guests brownies. I do have to say, this is not a place for younger "party" crowds to stay at as the staff will not have it. It is more for older/more mature individuals just looking to relax. Wifi was free and there's AC in every room. The rooms including bathrooms were clean and smelled good. Parking was also included. I would definitely come back again as the experience was good :).

My husband and I have been staying at the King Charles Hotel for the last five years. We absolutely love the hotel and its staff! The rooms are very clean and the family atmosphere is what keeps us coming back. We like the fact that its a close walk to the boardwalk and beach, but not too close that you hear all of the noise. Its just a comfy, cozy place that we will continue to call home at least once a summer on our vacations. Kudos to the owners and staff members for making it such a wonderful experience every time.

I am 18 and I stayed at the king charles hotel last year when I was 17. I'll admit they were pretty intimidating about my age and all the rules when I first arrived but after that they were relatively relaxed. I had came in as late as 2-3 in the morning and I just walked in through the back door. The rooms were amazingly clean! loved the location and I would absolutely stay there again. Yes, if you are planning on throwing a party I wouldnt suggest staying there. But if you are planning on enjoying a weekend in OC w/o getting too crazy;i'd absolutely recommend it. The woman and man who run King Charles were extremely nice to me and the other person I stayed with, the man even talked to us when we came in super late at night. They never "checked up on us" and always asked if we needed anything. Can you blame them for being strict on kids? Just dont be disrespectful to the property their allowing you to use and you'll have a great time.

We stayed at the King Charles Hotel the last week if July (2012) and it was an enjoyable stay.   Their rates were very competitive for their location (just before 13th st) one block from the boardwalk.   A smaller establishment, much more in the vane of a bed and breakfast, the Charles features a family-friendly atmosphere.   Young party people need not apply.   Our room, though small and with the barest of amenities, may have been the cleanest room I've stayed in in all my years of O. C. Vacationing.   The staff was extremely personable and polite and even provided home baked cookies and brownies both nights!   Additionally, if security is a concern, doors are locked at 11pm, with guests' room keys allowing entry in the rear, and a security person is placed in the lobby.   (I think his name was Bobby? )   All in all, a pleasant experience for those looking for a modest and peaceful stay.
