I enjoyed my visit overall. The customer service here was great! There was an issue with my room that they fixed right away. It is very beautiful and historic, however the rooms were a little small. Very nice hotel and in an area that is close to a lot of attractions. Would recommend staying here.

I understand that the Seelbach is a local landmark with a unique history, but it was truly lacking in any modern conveniences outside of a steady Wi-Fi connection. The rooms were tired and in desperate need of a renovation, and despite the AAA accolades, the on-premise food & beverage was far below my expectations. When you pay $25 for a club sandwich and a bag of chips, it should be a very solid club sandwich, not the jumbled mess I received that was made with stale bread and bacon that would chip ones teeth while consuming. The server even said that it didn't include the standard mayo on the sandwich because it would've made the bread soggy, implying that the $25 sandwich had been made hours prior. This came as no shock after attempting to consume it, as it was of such poor quality. Breakfast was more of the same as the night prior. It all left me wondering how AAA had awarded this property any awards at all. Overall, when you take into consideration the room rate, the rooms that haven't been renovated in a decade plus, the above average cost of food and below average quality, I certainly don't plan on staying at this location during future business in the Louisville area. On the other hand, the Embassy Suites across the street was a fantastic property and an overall better choice for a traveler like myself.

This is very unique old hotel. I got lucky and ended up with one of the entrance street view rooms. The room doors even still have the newspaper door in them (screwed shut so you don't get Intruders). Very cool place.

History oozes from the lobby to the grand staircase. Go have their signature cocktail in the bar and enjoy the beautiful architecture of this iconic hotel. The bar is part of the Urban bourbon trail and has an extensive collection of whiskeys to choose from. Highly recommended.

In some ways it is dated but still impressive overall. The hotel also has a historical quality as it presents an architectural snapshot of an era gone by. The rathskellar is a world class room; truly unique architecture for the area.

Historic elegance defines this stately hotel built in the 1920's. The room we had was adequate but not spectacular. The common arras ate beautifully furnished and comfortable.

The beach property is incredible! The restaurants have great food. We really liked (or I should say the kids) — the bunks were an ingenious idea! More Hilton properties should incorporate this into their design. They take up the void of a hallway and dead space. Three pools! Parking is reasonable at $10 per day. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Great local beer selection. Wine menu is good as well. Great property development. Cheers!

Great service here and very nice rooms and other facilities. The building is very cool and a great place to stay if you enjoy older elaborate architecture. It's right in downtown too so there's very easy access to restaurants and other events.

The hotel itself was very nice. In terms of service it was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. When I asked to get my car from valet when I checked out it took over 45 minutes. They even lost one of my friends car keys when he tried to leave. If you are looking for a nice hotel with the good service you expect for the price this is not the place for you.

Staying here once again. This is a truly historic hotel within the heart of downtown Louisville. Like many historic hotels, the rooms vary greatly in size and some of them do show their age. However, the location, the staff, and the decor are very hard to beat. It reminds me some of staying in the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago.

Absolutely gorgeous place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The valet Logan was especially helpful. Walking distance from Fourth Street Live. Great experience. I would definitely visit again!

Tried to make a reservation, website said had to call "Sales Office" to confirm our date was available. Called hotel, got put through very lengthy recorded messages about reward cards and staying on the phone for a survey. After waiting a long time, got cut off. Called back and spoke to a rude gentleman, described what happened. Was told that ALL staff were in a meeting. No one available to answer a phone. I should just call back, or leave a message. Sorry, not acceptable. I will never know and never want to know what this "4" star hotel is like. I'll just stay at the Hyatt where they actually have staff available to speak with you and make a reservation.

Lovely, historic hotel. Staff were very helpful. The room was on the smaller side and a bit past its prime, but more or less what I expected for this sort of property. Elite lounge breakfast and happy hours were very nice.

This elegant hotel offers Kentucky's only 5-star restaurant, The Oak Room. The hotel is gloriously historic and was built in 1905. It's list of guests includes author F. Scott Fitzgerald, and is said to have inspired his book "The Great Gatsby". Al Capone had a secret tunnel under the hotel that he used to escape capture by the FBI when he would visit. This hotel is a must see when visiting Louisville. Make a reservation for rooms or dining. Be sure to visit with Concierge Larry whom many consider to be the hotel's local historian. He can share stories about famous guests and ghosts.

I attended my husband's end of the year work party here. It was nicely decorated and the food was great. The staff made sure that my water/coffee cup was full and cleared plates in a timely manner. All of the employees were super friendly!

With the number of hotels within two blocks, this hotel is low on my list to book again. The lobby and restaurant are gorgeous (the food is mediocre for the price — plenty of better options nearby), but both are open to the public. I recommend staying somewhere else and checking out the hotel during the day if the historic style is important. The rooms are extremely small unless you pay for a suite. We stayed in a queen room, and could barely walk around the bed to get in. If you do stay here, make sure you ask for a street facing view away from the elevator (the elevator bell is loud enough to wake people up in their rooms nearby — the walls are also very thin).

My husband and I had to take an unexpected trip to Louisville to take our daughter to Kosair children’s hospital to have some important tests done. We arrived the hotel late Saturday night and were happily greeted by Corey who is a valet for the hotel. We explained to him why we were in town and let him know that we had to be at the hospital at 9:30 the following morning. As stressed and worried as we were he made us feel like family from the minute we arrived. He carried our bags to are room for us personally and went out of his way to make our daughter feel better by spending some time with us talking to her. Sunday morning my husband goes to the front of the hotel to have one of the valets get our van for us, we were over joyed to see our car already out front warning up for us so my daughter didn’t have to be cold on the way to the hospital! Words can’t express the gratitude me and my family have for how thoughtful that was. Corey truly went above and beyond to ensure us that he genuinely cared about helping us any way that he possibly could. The hotel was remarkably beautiful and along with Corey the entire staff was so helpful and friendly. I can’t wait to come back and visit under different circumstances next year!

My brother got married here — — beautiful space for it! They were very accommodating of the photographer. The lobby is worth a visit and so is the bar. If you are able to visit the basement, the decor is super interesting. Very old fashioned, but fun.

Stay two days at this hotel for a conference, and had a wonderful time. The staff at the front desk as well as the buffet in the restaurant in the morning were very attentive and friendly. Hotel is right on fourth Street, walking distance to many things to do restaurants bars etc. During my stay, the hotel was decorated for the holidays, it added an extra plus to the historic site.

An old posh historic hotel only 2 blocks from 4th Street Live. Many famous people have stayed and visited the hotel. Has a very infamous bar called The Oak Room. Parts of the hotel are supposed to be haunted, one being Rathskeller space that used to be a bar, now private event space. Gangsters frequented this one time bar, along with The Oak Room; one of them being Al Capone. It's lobby is beautiful with a magnificent grand staircase as it's center attraction. Love this hotel, great location, waking distance to KFC Yum Center/Arena. Highly recommend staying here … you won't be sorry.

Arrived at the Seelbach with my wife Friday afternoon and was greeted by one of the valets named Corey. He welcomed us to the hotel and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. He let us know about some restaurants and other attractions in the area which all turned out to be really awesome experiences during our stay in Louisville and was very helpful through out our entire stay at the hotel. The young man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful as well. The hotel itself is very historic and beautifully designed. We were 100% satisfied with our stay at the Seelbach and will definitely be returning in the near future. Bravo!

Really neat hotel with some history. Incredibly close to great nightlife. The rooms themselves could use a bit of updating. We had to change rooms after an extremely leaky shower, an AC that would cool, and a few glass shards on the carpet!

We had a very nice stay at this grand old hotel. Staff was very friendly and the room was perfect. It has a lot of charm and history and was very comfortable.

I stayed at the Seelbach for a wedding event. The staff was helpful and valet/check in were easy. The room was not very good. The curtains were falling off the wall, there wasn't much space, and the shower didn't drain very well. Location however was awesome. Just a stones throw from 4th Street Live and other Louisville attractions. We went to the Slugger Museum.

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are beautiful. There's so much history as well and it's so fun to learn about it all from the employees there. Larry in the El and Mike at the desk are especially friendly, professional and great at their job :)

What is not to like? Beautiful old building in the center of things. Rooms were smaller than one would expect but it was beautifully decorated and very well maintained. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond. Loved the lobby.

Not on par with other Hiltons, very poorly maintained bathrooms and very high convenience fees. Extremely dissatisfied by the staffs handling of my concerns as well. Frankly I've stayed in nicer Econolodges. Clearly a hotel in decline and a miserable representation of the brand.

Great old hotel, but we had a couple of concerns. The bed was old and lumpy (not what you'd expect of a high end hotel) and more concerning was the lack of a ceiling vent in the bathroom. Hot showers caused the bathroom to steam up, which has caused the window in the bathroom to have visible mold growth. The front desk attendants were awesome and went out of their way to help us late one night when we realized we'd forgotten a mouth guard and had to purchase another one across the street at CVS. They had boiling water delivered to our room at 11pm, which impressed us greatly. Very helpful!

We had a team meeting in the board room. The furnishings were wonderful. The only complaint was the contract tool to long to generate and sign. I understand this for a large party but for a small group that just needed privacy this took to long.

It's a gorgeous hotel and the service is great. That alone is worth the 5 stars. The rooms are nice, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Haven't actually stayed at the hotel but we came to their hotel bar multiple times during Derby weekend. The decor of the hotel and bar is amazing, very Gatsby-like. Their specialty drinks are great and has plenty of room for a group of people to hang out.

I am a Hilton Honors member, but when I tried to book through HH there were no rooms available. I checked out Priceline and The Seelbach Hotel was available on their site, so I booked through Priceline. I tried several times to get HH to add my HH number to the reservation, but to no avail. HH did end up giving me some points for the reservation, but not until numerous calls and online chats. The problem was that I wasn’t looking for the points, but what I like is the ability to check in and choose my room through their app. I also got charged almost 200 dollars more on my credit card and had to call the hotel to have the money credited back to my card (this was prior to arrival). Upon arrive the valet service was prompt. My wife and I checked in and the staff was friendly and even asked if I prefer a lower or higher level room. The staff put us in an upper room. The room was clean and nice, but extremely small. The bathroom actually only had a stand up shower in it because of the size of the room. I didn’t mind the small room, but for the cost was expecting more. The old vintage vibe of the hotel was fascinating. The Old Seelbach Bar was a fun little vintage hotel bar that I suggest checking out. Check out went smoothly, but the valet service leaving was a different story. It was extremely busy and took a bit of time to get our car and leave. Overall The Seelbach was a clean charming old hotel, but I do not believe I would revisit the hotel again.

I came to visit my family while they were staying here. It's very neat and clean. The architecture and building design are beautiful, too.

Fantastic atmosphere. Drinks were superb. What a way to kick off the night.

There is nothing honest about the valet drivers or manager Mustafa at the Seelbach Hilton location. I valet parked my flawless 2014 Tundra with them and received it back with scraped damage on the right front bumper, headlight and trim piece. He said it wasn't his fault because none of the other vehicles next to mine was damaged. It happened sometime when I left the truck with them and when I picked it up from them. Probably in transit between the front of the Seelbach and the parking spot. My truck console was rummaged though as well and Mustafa wouldnt accept responsibility for it either because he interviewEd the drivers and they said they didn't do it. Who would admit to something against their policy. If you have a flawless car and don't want it rummaged though, don't valet park at the Seelbach hotel in Louisville, KY. The worst experience ever and a lying manager on top of it. I know Seelbach doesn't manage the valet but they need to get an honest valet service. DO NOT Valet park at the Seelbach, they are the most crooked people I've ever dealt with.

A well appointed disaster. If you come in the winter, bring a space heater for the bathroom because there is NO SOURCE OF HEAT: no radiator, forced air, or heat lamp. Took 10 minutes to get hot water on 5th floor. Housekeeping WILL wake you up hours before checkout if you forget to put the sign on the door. Nowhere near the 4 star service level. There are better hotels downtown for cheaper.

The location is wonderful, and makes a great event space.

Stay was horrible and no customer service from anyone. Cant even get the GM/reservations personal to answer the phone or return calls. Do not recommend the hotel.

Disappointed. We booked online reading reviews and looking at location, never spent time in Louisville so we thought downtown would be fin and the hotel being old would have charm and character. We spent the going rate for booking a room a day in advance, and thought we would get a top notch room, unfortunately the room was a dud. We had a double bed room with a closet that lead to a shared suit. The lock on our side was a flip over latch that was missing two out of three screws and basically was useless. The bathroom was dated back to the 70s-80s with calk in the tub that was thick dirty and gross. The corners of the bathroom were black from not being cleaned properly. The best part of the hotel was the lobby and the basement which had great character and history and can be viewed with staying or paying.

Pro's Nice lobby and ok bar (only two options for draft beer though) Con's USD10 per device per day for Wi-Fi. Hilton, are you serious? Even hostels give you free Wi-Fi and they're a tenth of the cost. Reception staff were largely clueless and the ones on the late shift can be pretty uninterested.

Took my wife for a last minute overnight getaway before school started back. I picked this hotel because of the historic nature and the recent renovation. The lobby is very impressive. The room, although small was comfortable. The AC was a little loud. But the bathroom is so very small — I wish I could post a picture. I told my wife we would have to step out to turn around. She had to put her cosmetics in the room next to the TV because there was no space for them. But we had a blast, and everything is very convenient. The staff were excellent and although we did not ask for much, they really tried to offer the best service possible. They are building an Embassy Suites next door, and once that is finished we may stay there and just visit the Seelbach. Oh, most importantly, if you are a Hilton Honors member, the points required for award stay seemed very low for a Cat 8 property. I would not have paid the published rate for our room. All-in-all a worthwhile experience.

Historic hotel in downtown Louisville. Unfortunately, this means smallish rooms with tiny bathrooms and little storage. Also, we weren't told that they weren't offering the complimentary breakfast and wine/snack hour on the club level during our stay, and we paid extra for that. Upon check-out we were told that we should have been given vouchers to use in their restaurant. Overall, service didn't meet our expectations.

Kentucky Derby Weekend! Big business for what is reported to be the best hotel in town. The cost for three days at the Seelbach over derby weekend, a whopping $5, 000.00. So you can imagine our amazement when the room allocated was smaller than a large closet. No, really, it was a postage stamp room with a double bed. Room service has to set the food on the bed and walk around to the desk because there is not enough room to actually walk the tray around the bed. A large person would never fit in the shower. No tub. An absolute cramped closet of a room. Of course we complain. After MUCH grief, we are moved to a slightly larger closet with two double beds and this gets us through the night. In the morning a full out campaign is launched and we finally get the King sized room we were promised. Funky, small and overlooking the heating/ cooling units. They were very loud all night. Food and service was great, but the rooms are very subpar. Use the Hilton in Lexington, large suites, great service for a fraction of the cost. Better yet, travel to Versailles and stay at the Rose Hill Inn or Storybook bed and breakfasts. They will take exceptional care of you with great rooms and great service.

Hotel is lovely. Staff very friendly. However, during our KY Derby visit, we had an Ipad stolen from our room while at dinner, and hotel did not respond to our problem. Did not even return our phone calls.

I had a very nice stay at the Seelbach. The historic and overal aesthetic qualities, as well as the service were very pleasant and satisfying. However I have one issue I would like to present to future residents, the Wi-Fi access in the lobby is free, it is not however free in the individual rooms. You have to pay extra for that in a room that costs at least $150 a night apparently. Meanwhile, my mother who stayed in a Red Roof Inn during this exact same trip had free Wi-Fi in her own room. My mother only payed $50 a night for her hotel with free Wi-Fi. So why should a hotel that charges $150 a night not offer free Wi-Fi in its' rooms? It's ridiculous that a hotel that costs $150 per night in a room should charge extra for Wi-Fi use while in that room especially since a lesser hotel or even motel that is 'pet friendly' and $50/night offers free Wi-Fi in each room.
