Noisy people upstairs. Smoky rooms. Freezing pool. Horrible.

We attempted to rent a room on December 5th through booking. Com when we arrived the room was INFESTED with bed bugs. Front desk offered us another room. However if one room had bugs that badly, they all do. Don't stay here unless you want to take home some bugs.

Not a bad hotel, 2 hot tubs a pool decent Wi-Fi. Clean rooms. Reservations made 2 different times no problems.

Quoted me a price over the phone when I made reservation and raised price when I checked in. Desk clerk argued about price change and went on and on. She was rude and was basically arguing with herself. Wouldn't honor price quoted on phone. Sheets thin, worn out, didnt look or feel clean. The
mattress lumpy, no stopper in old dinged up tub. Tiny bathroom. Whole room didn't
have a clean feeling. Card key wouldn't open any external doors. Therefore had to enter at front door or one external door that was always unlocked despite the sign by door that stated "Locked at all times for your safety". Both doors being at far end of building from our room.
I would not recommend this hotel.

I called, had reservations, and when I got there, no reservations! talked to two different people.

It was my first time there. It was very clean and quite. Staff I met was very friendly. Thx for a 1st time experience.

INCREDIBLY friendly people! I chose Appletree both because of it's high reviews and because a local chain hotel has a few reviews saying there are cockroaches. No, thank you. Appletree has obviously made efforts to modernize the rooms, but it seems to be an ongoing project. The shower/bath wasn't as clean as I'd expect in a hotel, but it worked fine and got me clean. I don't ask for anything else from a shower other than to not give me some kind of gym locker-room fungus. I didn't get a fungus here, so I call that a win. The room was as big as I'd expect for a one-bed room, and the bed itself was very comfortable. Wi-Fi was reliable and other guests were quiet. The curtains blocked ALL the light, so it was great for a light sleeper like myself. Overall, the service and rooms here felt more like home than any chain I've stayed at.

Older and dated, but clean and well maintained. I would stay again.

No on-site washing machines but nice rooms at a good price. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Apple Tree Inn is easily the best place in town please stay there if you get the chance you will enjoy it.

They are from India or some place like that (of course) and the old guy doesn't speak our language well enough for me to understand.

Clean, well appointed rooms, VERY firm beds, excellent staff, satellite TV. The bad… Watery gravy, watered down o. J. And thin apple juice, the waffle batter was SUPER thin. Powdered eggs. Sausage and coffee were EXCELENT. The pool is heated BUT way, way WAY, I mean WAY over chlorinated (or whatever it is they use) after swimming I took a shower and the steam made my nose burn. The hot tub is nice and toasty. All in all not a bad place to stay, just don't expect a good swim or a great breakfast.

This hotel is very misleading in the photographs. The woman at the front desk was very unfriendly and sort of rude. The rooms bathroom is the size of a gas station stall, not to mention the sink is not even in the bathroom. The room I prepaid for said it had a DVD player, which it did not. When I brought that to the hotel staff they acted confused and said "um… sorry" and that was it. The whole hotel smelled like a pool because they leave the doors open at the pool. If you like super hard mattresses that feel like a cot, then these are for you… very uncomfortable. The morning breakfast… you enjoy the smell of chlorine because the seating area is in the pool area. Those two should be separated. There is also not much to be offered. If you hurry you can get a cup of coffee before they run out. The side door entrance to the hotel does not lock completely so anyone could walk in. I'm trying to find a positive here… overall if I'm ever in this area again I would not stay here. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. Sorry for such a bad review, but this was my experience.

Rooms are nice and cleaned everyday. Could use a little update as far as lighting and the ac unit but they still work. The Wi-Fi service is excellent. It's actually faster then mine at home which is not common in a hotel.

We really liked this place. We got the executive suite, so we had a king bed and a tub in the room that easily seats two. The toilet was in its own room and there was one couch, a chair, and a desk chair, too. However, some little things were off. There was zero soap besides two very, very small bars next to both sinks — nothing at all for the shower and arguably not enough for even washing your hands. Fortunately, we brought our own shower soap. The jets in the in-room jacuzzi did not work, which was disappointing. The bed, although really big, wasn’t very soft. The pillows were awesome, though. We had two packs of coffee available in the room and there’s plenty of closet space. The pool looked nice but we didn’t use it. There was plenty of seating around the upper part of the pool area for parents and others to sit. The breakfast was good. They had biscuits and gravy when we were there, with eggs, sausage, yogurt, toast, cinnamon rolls, cereal, fruit, waffles, orange juice, apple juice, and coffee. Overall, we’d come back again for sure, but we would be aware of the things we didn’t like (like bringing our own soap).

Family friendly facility. High level of cleanliness. Extraordinary staff with great manners. I would definitely continue to go there.

Customer service… treated like royalty; room immaculate; amenities… good; pool/spa and accepted pets… was a perfect fit for my need. Highly recommend!

Fifty-year old motel, last remodel mid-90s. Nice pool. New ownership seem to be cutting corners: south wing has strong smoking smell-property is supposedly non-smoking; breakfast bar missing items that previously were included (hot chocolate mixes, decaf coffee, half and half) ; inconsistent housekeeping; out of order elevator.

Modest, clean and very comfortable accommodations for the price. Indoor pool, spa and a very good breakfast included.

Very nice, hospitable inn for a good price. Nice selection for the included breakfast. Fitness room plus indoor pool and spa on site. I would go again any time I found myself back in the independence area.

I don't know how this place has a 4.2 star rating. They are way overpriced. The rooms gaudy in color as well as dated. I felt that the hotel owners were trying to stretch their pennies in all aspects of the hotel. I received one bar of soap for the sink and the shower and one tiny container of shampoo for my entire stay of 2 nights. I had to constantly move the soap from the shower to the sink. The bed was OK but the blanket was barely thicker than paper. The room smelled musty. The breakfast was a joke. Old fruit, many day old biscuits, instant scrambled eggs that looked terrible. I noticed that on my second day the breakfast food that was put out was what was left over from the day before, but just less of it. How appetizing. I would only stay here if you were desperate.

Pleasant experience. I was in Independence to visit my family during Neewolah. This hotel was quite a pleasant surprise. The parking spaces were most appreciated, as they were the right size for real cars. The exterior is rather plain, yet inside the hotel was lovely. It has simple, yet pleasing architectural designs that turn the swimming pool, office, and dining area into a well defined, unique area. The hotel is clean and comfortable. There is an elevator. The room was pleasant and QUIET. The full breakfast was very tasty. I had eggs, sausage, and gravy, along with fresh fruit, coffe, and milk. Their seating area is poolside, so it's quite calming. I would recommend Appletree-Independence-KS to everyone.

There isn't a bad thing that I can say about this hotel. The pool and hot tubs are clean and very nice. The rooms are up to date and clean. The breakfast is wonderful. Gareda is a sweet lady. Love her. A sweet, cute place to stay.

Clean. Room is large enough, but the bathroom is tiny. Everything in the place is green! The paint and carpet look new, but the style is right out of the early 70's. A budget motel trying to be a classy hotel, and failing. All of these 5 star reviewers must have terribly low standards.

The reviews were the reason we stopped. Got into our room and the spread was stained and when I sat down I saw what I thought was dog hairs all over the carpet. I went to the front desk and told the lady there. She was very sweet and seemed shocked and upset and immediately moved us to another room. Beds were not very comfortable but when your tired it was ok. The next morning we went for breakfast. 2 pieces of under cooked sausage, no bacon (if there was supposed to be any) the scrambled eggs warmer had nothing but dried crumbs. The ONLY reason I gave two stars was because of the front desk help. I guess it is hit or miss with this one.

This is our third visit here, and the best one yet. The hotel has been newly remodeled. If the hotel is busy, they serve a hot breakfast, otherwise it is a continental. Right in downtown Independence, but quiet.

Recently my mother, aunt and mother in law all stayed. They loved the rooms, the breakfast and the pool.

Loved this hotel I travel for my job and this is by far my favorite place to stay. They just don't have toothbrushes and paste :/

Right in the heart of downtown Independence comma makes it walking distance to a lot of downtown shops and restaurants. Very friendly and accommodating staff with clean rooms.

Staff was very nice and that's the only thing nice I can say about it. The room was dirty, sheets had stains and I happened to find bed bugs. I left the hotel immediately.

Quiet and clean rooms if a little dated. Free Wi-Fi is a plus, but it can be spotty. This is my first choice hotel in Independence.

We stay at the Appletree Inn every time we go to Independence. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kids love the pool and hot tub. The continental breakfast has a good variety and is a nice amenity. We travel to Independence at least twice a year and this is where we stay.

The Appletree Inn was actually pretty awesome. The outside looked relatively nor. Al, but the ik snide set it apart.

The location is great, easy to get around the town from the hotel. The rooms are in good condition, includes HDTV, refrigerator, and microwave. The beds are comfortable, and the linens smell nice. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Complimentary breakfast has good variety and tastes good. The waffles are excellent! The pool and hot tubs are great, very relaxing. I would stay here again.

The hotel was decent, kids wanted to go swimming in the morning and hot tub is shut off during the day so it was cold! It was perfect last night. The breakfast was hot but just ok. They ran out of milk. Tvs in the rooms are small. Clean rooms.

Don't try and book a room there for Neewollah. I booked well in advance through expedia and they canceled my reservation. We didnt't find out that they had canceled our reservation until I called to let them know that we would not be in town before 5PM. I was then informed that my reservation was canceld with an excuse of the rooms are blocked off for that time a year or so in advance but amazingly several people had canceled and they had rooms available but wanted me to pay the Neewollah Rate of 160 something per night when My total reservation with expedia wasn't that much. What a total rip off. I grew up in independence Kansas and know the normal rates for this hotel. They may be in the middle of everything but they are greedy and way not worth 160 a night. If you know what Neewollah is book in advance somewhere else.

Convenient location in town. We were able to talk to dinner from the hotel. The rooms were better than expected for a small town and the staff was always very pleasant.

Well the room was very nice cleam but the breakfast wasnt that good was hoping for real eggs.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. The staff is pleasant and helpful, the room clean and pleasant. Lovely swimming pool area with fountain. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I have stayed every year for a week at Apple Tree Inn for years sometimes more than once. I always get a suite and they are very comfortable and the staff always makes you feel at home. The breakfast is outstanding and I would recommend them to everyone.

I stay here on business about 1 to 2 nights a week and love it! The rooms are clean, breakfast is great and the staff is Fantastic! It may cost more than a chain hotel, but you can tell the difference as soon as you are greeted walking in the door.

Very nice hotel. Only stayed one night while passing through, but all the staff was very hospitable. We were traveling with a dog, and we were given a wonderful room. The only downside is that even though it is a pet friendly hotel, there weren't any outside areas for the pets to visit. Overall though, great stay/place.

Absolutely, by far, the best, nicest, and most conveniently located motel in Independence, Kansas. We've stayed there several times and have always been comfortable, and instead of just being courteous, the hosts are actually friendly, and treat us like they've known us for years! As for breakfast, they don't serve just a "Continental" breakfast; they're breakfast includes eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls, gravy, orange juice, milk, waffles, pancakes, and so much more. It's the best motel I've stayed at virtually ANYWHERE, and I've been to a lot of places and stayed in much more expensive motels. In a small city like Independence, Kansas, the Appletree is always well booked, and I can easily see why!
