Historic B&B, nicely kept up, Great grounds, Great location, friendly proprietors, close to downtown, and uptown farmers market. Top of the hill. Nice covered porch with chairs. Huge Monterey Cypress Tree, biggest in Washington state. Built 1861

Comfortable room, friendly staff, decent hot breakfast. Quiet neighborhood on the bluff, short walk from waterfront.

Owners were friendly and professional, room was clean and very cozy. Fireplace kept the room warm and the tub has jets and is very good sized. Breakfast was top notch. Will definitely be back.

Nice place. The atmosphere is definitely different from your normal hotel, but if that's what your looking for then absolutely stop by.

This is our second stay at a B&B, our first was in Idaho, the owners were very friendly, spent time with the guests, in the morning over breakfast and in the evening, they did a great job getting to know each of their guests.
We are spending two nights at blue gull b&b, met the owner John the afternoon we checked in and never saw him again, have not met his wife. I would say this is a couple that is in it only for the business, if you can't be friendly how can you expect return customers? We will not be returning to blue gull b&b.

The Blue Gull is fantastic! This is the first bed and breakfast I've stayed at and I love it! The house is beautiful and breakfast was awesome. I highly recommend this place!

We enjoyed our brief stay during summer, it was nice to gather with so many people from different walks of life. Breakfast was great, and the hospitality was lovely.

I've stayed at several B&B inns in Port Townsend, but come back to the Blue Gull. My favorite room has a little glassed-in "porch" which opens on the lovely garden in back. The big front porch is delightful when the weather is mild. I have always enjoyed the social experience of breakfast time at the Blue Gull, where I've been happy to linger over good food with people from all over the world. The Blue Gull is a well-hosted, well-located inn that is perfect as a base for exploring the area and provides sanctuary for those seeking a quiet retreat.

We just spent 7 days with Renee and John at the Inn and had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. We liked having a private bathroom and comfortable bedding. The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts are accommodating to any dietary needs. Look forward to a stay in the future.

John and Renee we so welcoming and breakfast was simply delicious! Lovely historical home, with the added bonus of deer and beautiful hummingbirds. We enjoyed every minute.

I loved Port Townsend and my stay at the Blue Gull made it complete. The rooms were very clean and there was a lot of charm to the home and decor. We stayed in the garden room and it was so comfortable with a large bathroom. The tub was like a dream and so relaxing. Breakfast was really delicious and plenty to go around. The company was nice and the innkeepers were friendly and guided us to wonderful Italian food at Lanza's. I am already planning a return trip and will be staying here again. Highly recomended.

We really enjoyed the house and our room was beautiful. Our only complaint was the breakfast. We were served fresh fruit (which was nice), deviled eggs (not really what I consider a breakfast item) some slices of sausage (tasty, but not anything too amazing and definitely not very much), and all-we-could-eat pancakes. Any other B&B that we've been too served unique food, something you wouldn't normally have at home or get at Denny's, and usually incorporated something specific from the area or used fresh herbs from the garden. We enjoyed our stay, but considering all the other beautiful options in Port Townsend, I think we will try somewhere else next time.

All B&Bs are usually fun experiences, and the Blue Gull is no exception. I liked it! However, rather than just rate 5* and say nothing useful, I want to give an honest rating of the Blue Gull relative to it's competition: As a person who has stayed in most of the B&Bs in Port Townsend, the Blue Gull is what I would call a middle-of-the-road B&B. Much like all the others in town, the Blue Gull has cute, flowery rooms, a well-manicured yard, and is generally nice to look at. It is a much better value, and fun experience, than staying at a normal hotel. They also put out a cookie plate, which is a nice touch. However, none of the amenities were awesome, they were just good. Generally speaking, compared to some of the nicer inns (The James House, Ann Starrett Mansion, etc. ), the house overall was just a tad less impressive. Similarly, the food was good, not great. During the two days I stayed there, both breakfasts were very nice, but not the sort of thing that really stands out as awesome. They serve breakfast "family style, " as opposed to actually serving everyone individually created plates, and there is basically only one course (as opposed to some of the sumptuous multi-course breakfasts other inns have). They use what tasted like Minute-Made orange juice from concentrate, and that sort of sums up the whole experience, I think. Sure, Minute-Made is fine, but I'd rather drink fresh squeezed. Overall, this is a fine place to stay.
