The staff has made an incredibly stressful week so much easier! So glad this is the hotel I ended up at when my original hotel plans suddenly changed.

Nice person at front desk.

Good friendly staff, especially the new lady working in the evening. Will return.

The decor is fabulous, the service is great and the staff is very friendly.

Ashley, working at check-in, was pleasant and accommodating. I had been having a difficult day and her welcoming personality changed all that.

The location of the Holiday Inn Express is only a short distance from the main area of Downtown Athens and a couple minutes of walking from the University of Georgia. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and free breakfast for those who want to start the day with a nice meal. Overall a really nice hotel for people visiting and wanting to check out the city.

Front desk employee was super nice but there was so much construction going on that it really took away from the ambiance and professionalism of attending an educational seminar. In fact, I attended a seminar last year in this same facility and exact same room and there was construction going on at that time, as well. I understand improvements need to be made but I feel that seminars and classes needs to be taken into account! Really stinks for the students and speaker!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms nice and clean. The breakfast was very good. Also very convenient to UGA. Would recommend this hotel to others.

The staff was super friendly, when you could reach them. I had to call about five times to get someone to pick up. But sometimes people get swamped, and I get that. The rooms on the first floor though… Not good. The whole place smelled musty and looked rundown. I had a wet towel on the floor and it soaked up all sorts of what appeared to be urine and who knows what else. The freezer in the room didn't work. Overall, it just felt very run down.

Great night's sleep. Staff were all friendly, and the gals running the breakfast area kept everything filled up nicely. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was not too soft and not too hard.

Happy with my stay here. Comfy beds and the free breakfast is always a plus! Only thing that could improve it would be some better working AC in the room, gets a bit hot at night.

Loved our stay here! So disappointed that it was only one night. After getting the run around from the hotel in Chattanooga East Ridge, Athens was so welcoming! The hotel was clean and quiet. The check-in was fast and the woman at the desk was so friendly (they let my youngest have a quick swim before bed). But the best part? Breakfast! It was hot and delicious and plentiful! We hope to stop in again next year!

The room was very clean and smelled very fresh. The shower was totally awesome. My grandson enjoyed their pool while I was able to enjoy the hot tub. Very clean area. Excellent customer service upon arrival and when we were having the complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was great, no reason to have to go somewhere else to eat because the selection was great. Definitely will stay here again if in area.

This hotel is what it is. A little old, in need of a refresh. But the location is good and rates are reasonable. Breakfast wasn't bad, bacon one day and sausage the next, along with pancakes, fruit, breads, cereals, etc. Bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom was clean. What else do you expect?

The beds were very comfortable. The hotel was clean. The lobby was quite large, and offered free cookies and coffee. The staff at the Holiday Inn was very professional. I would suggest this hotel to anyone visiting Athens, as the hotel price is not too high.

Room, amenities, breakfast were all exactly what you expect at holiday inn express: clean, comfortable and well cared for. Lower review has nothing to do with the facilities, but with our check in experience. We were driving through from Ohio to Florida, driving late into the night. We booked a room online at midnight, knowing we would hit your hotel at 1 am. We were exhausted, and having checked in expected to quickly get keys, and go to bed. 2 groups getting a room ahead of us, slowly getting assigned rooms. When our turn came, we were accused of not booking a room, and it was our fault because the night audit had been done. Standing at the counter for 45 minutes with a sleeping child in my arms, being told I can’t have a room because I booked for the wrong night (I didn’t, but it was after midnight), finally, she gets the room gives the receipt and it’s a charge for $40 more than I paid online. Incredibly frustrating. We stay at a lot of holiday inns, and this was the worse check in we have had.

Hotel was built into the side of the hill, resulting in some odd designs. The elevators were down stairs and the handicap ramp took you upstairs to get on the floor above it. The hallways were narrow and bathrooms were small. I've paid less for more accessibility, cleanliness, and convenience elsewhere in town.

Charged twice for the room. After I made reservations online, was charged again as well. It’s a nice hotel but expensive mistake and no one has fixed it. I won’t stay here again.

I liked the 'Pet Friendly' guest option. This is a typical HI Express with breakfast buffet for travelling convenience. My room showed usage and some wear but it was clean. The receptionist on second shift was very cheerful and friendly and she was helpful with referrals to good local restaurants.

We recently stayed at this hotel driving South I75 to Florida and driving home North I75. Was surprised when told I was member of the day. Free upgrade, award points and goodie bag. We love Holiday Inn Express and they are our first choice for our Hotel stays. Thank you.

Pleasant staff. Very clean rooms. Very attentive to guess needs Bateman's very quick to addressed any issues. Only drawback so far, wish the jets on the hot tub were a little stronger. Restaurants within walking distance restaurants amenities within walking distance.

Great service at the front desk, nice room, first hotel to actually provide a soap dish for handsoap which I love! Walking distance to everything downtown and the university. Definitely recommend.

This was a good choice for us for a quick weekend stay for a family wedding. Breakfast each morning was good and free. Very clean hotel. Walking distance to restaurants, music, and the University. Free parking, too!

Rooms were VERY dated. The bathroom liked like it hadn't been remodeled in years. There were small holes in the tub. Floor and door was in bad shape too. The bedding looked clean but the bed offered no support. The walls were freshly painted though.

Enjoyed my stay! Staff was very friendly and check in and was fast. I'll be staying here again for games!

Clean bath and beds. Gross carpet. $50 extra for our small dogs making it priced with much nicer places.

At check in, I was given my key with a card. They didn't explain the card was for my car windshield, and my hands were full with my luggage so I didn't look until I was in my room. So, I had to walk back to my car from my room. Not a huge deal, I get it, but still an inconvenience.

Stopped for the night on my way home from Florida. The check in girl Sabrina was not friendly, actually rude to me so that was my first experience there. The room was clean and bed comfy although the drain in the bathtub was slow so I was standing in water up to my ankles for my shower which I hate. Nice breakfast, plenty to choose from although they should've had 2 helpers because they kept running out of things. All the workers besides previously mentioned were very friendly. I almost chose the Hampton next door as the price difference wasn't much and I will next time passing through. I don't think it was worth the price I paid.

Located near the University of Georgia and the Classic Center. Customer service is excellent, especially Colin. Access to a wide variety of restaurants.

We stayed two nights in this hotel because we had Christian ball tournaments. The first night was great. The second night, on the other hand, my friend and I were walking back to the hotel room while the other was in the shower. We got in the hotel room and grabbed some change to go get drinks. The friend in the shower had fallen and needed help and was yelling for us. While we walked back to the room, and about the time we opened the door, the person staying beside us decided to come out and scream in my face, not mentioning me being only seventeen, and told me with very vulgar language to shut up. Then any inconvenience to this man that night got blamed on us and tried to get us kicked out Of the hotel. I am not impressed with the way the staff handled this situation. They only Took his side the entire time just because he is older than we are. The staff constantly called and told us that we were jumping up and down in the hotel room while we were laying in bed and trying to sleep. So inconvient.

I normally stay at the regular Holiday Inn due to it being slightly closer to downtown (you avoid a massive hill), but the express was fine. Standard Holiday Inn Express rooms and staff was fine.

Great hotel! Sadly the elevators are really tiny and nearly impossible to get. Ended up having to wait almost 20 minutes for an elevator. The layout of the hotel is really weird and we all got lost a couple times. Overall, though the rooms were fine (bathrooms were a little small) and I found some blood on my sheets but they took care of it promptly. Staff, however, was great and friendly!

Great location in down town Athens. Very good buffet breakfast. Rooms could have been cleaner. Staff were courteous and friendly.

Update. 2/7/18. THANK YOU TO THE MOST PERFECT STAFF! I changed my rating to 4 stars. Today the very nice staff was so kind and changed my room to 515. Perfect. No smell. No wet bathroom. And just the compassion and kindness from the front desk. I am so thankful. Front desk staff are great. Thank you again!

I was able to check in at 2am, the rooms were nice and clean. Receptionist was friendly and they did have hot breakfast available. I really did like it for the few hours I was there, will recommend to friends. The picture I posted was my view from my room.

Spent 5 nights here on a business trip. Wonderful experience! Staff was attentive, accomodating and friendly. Came back early one evening, feeling like I was coming down with the flu. The hotel manager Max and I were chatting and he had some one bring me hot soup and a bottle of orange juice. It was such a kind gesture. He said he wanted me to feel at home. It may sound corny, but it was most appreciated. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and the breakast in the AM was great! Definitely recommend this property!

The staff was very friendly. Our room was very clean. The breakfast woman named Thelma was the sweetest lady and very accommodating. The only thing after a 10 hour drive was we went down to the hot tub and the jets were not working. No maintenance person at night. The price was a bit high 93.00 plus all the taxes.

Room service was great, food was great, 5 stars.

I didn't have stay here, but I came for a work related conference with a few other coworkers. The place was clean from what I saw and the free coffee and lemon water hit the spot for me lol. Seems like a really good location for the most part, but I don't know much about Athens… as this was my very first time ever here in this town.

Great value. $107 a night. Room was clean. Downtown is walkable, if not, it's a 1 minute car ride away. Staff was friendly. Pet friendly too.

So friendly. All of the staff was compassionate and caring. Our situation was an emergency situation and they made are we were comfortable and had what we needed.

Needed accommodations during a road trip and stopped to see if they have a vacancy, fortunately they did. Hotel was extremely nice! Very clean and accommodating! Continental breakfast was top notch with excellent, friendly staff. Beds were comfortable, rooms were good size and everything clean and in good shape. Will definitely remember this hotel for future stays!

Evacuated here from Hurricane Irma. Upon receiving our room the air conditioner was broken and was told technician wouldn't be in until the following day. I managed to get it partially working and when I went to take a shower there was plumbers putty all over. Maintenance came to fix and removed it but the entire room smelled like paint stripper and the bathroom fan was broken. At this point after complaining again we received a new room where everything was clean and working. Management was very nice throughout all of this and very accommodating.

Loud, barking dogs at night. Called the front desk and was told that they would have no way of knowing what room the noise was coming from unless they sent someone to the 3rd floor to check. They were clearly uninterested in doing that.

Sarah (the front desk employee) is very rude and slow. She took 45 minutes to check us in while she had only 2 clients a head of us! Never apologized for the delay and in top of this she downgrade us from the king bed into Queen size without apologizing and telling us if we don't like it then go look for another hotel, what an idiot! Will never be back to holiday inn at any branch and will tell everyone.

Great customer service and decent accommodations for the price. There always seems to be a lot of humidity inside the hotel whenever I'm here in the summertime. Rooms were clean and the open parking lot seems safe.

Everyone on the staff of the hotel went above and beyond to make sure our trip and even the viewing the Totality of the Eclipse was a great experience. They even had a section of a field behind the hotel mowed for tents n chairs. The rooms are very clean. And since the elevator broke down the staff was offering and helping carry bags to rooms.

Front desk service was soooo slow, elevator was broken all 3 days we were there, room smelled musty and the room was not the cleanest and needs repair. Not worth the price paid for the problems at the hotel.

Elevator BROKE, 97 yr. Old father had to use stairs to get to room. Can't unload car at door cause it's blocked by drywallers working at 9 pm… Unbelievable hotel experience and no compensation from them on room rate…

Convenient location but could use some more aesthetic touches. You can tell it has been an old hotel renovated, but the renovations are not great. The bathroom was not very clean and due to the shoddy caulking jobs there was what looked like mold in it.

The staff has been great. Breakfast was the standard HI Express fare, hot, delicious. One of the nicest common area, lot of side areas where folks can sit and have conversations. The pool area was clean, plenty of chairs. The double rooms are nice. Usb outlets on the night stand to charge your phone. Mini fridge and microwave. The bathrooms are very narrow. You could brush your teeth, sit on the throne and wash your feet in the tub all at the same time if so inclined.

Had room 310, all the furnishings were modern and updated, very spacious. Lovely environment. Had an hotel desk associate and hotel cleaning staff ask me what room I was in, they were "just checking". Which was weird as an young black man, I guess I looked "suspicious".

It was fine and the rooms were clean. They had some odd policies. They also had an unusual number of security cameras. But overall fine hotel with nothing to really complain about.

This is a great hotel to stay at we have been anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Rooms are great and the staff is even better. If you ever need anything all you have to do is ask.

Woke up at 8:30 by motel woker hammering in room near us. Why dont u all have bath fans? Weres the stink supose to go. Last time at holiday in for me. Other than that was great employees were very nice room was great.

This hotel is in the middle of a remodel. There is a new building going up which looks very nice but the old hotel is likely to be torn down. The outside looks horrible and is kinda sketchy looking but the rooms were clean and inexpensive. We needed a pet friendly hotel so decided to give it a try. I inspected the room before we committed and since it was clean we decided to stay. I would not want to stay here more then one night.

I always enjoy Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are nice and spacious. The staff, friendly knowledgeable, and helpful. I really enjoy the complementary breakfast, which includes a variety of options for those looking for a quick bite or a slow relaxing meal. Another thing I love is a there are always plenty of towels in the room.

Very cute quaint hotel rooms! The pool and hot tub where nice and clean! Whoever helped at the front desk when we checked in was very nice and accommodating. I really adored the rooms!

Awful. General manager is very rude. Melissa Benton. And the place has a roach infestation. Not to mention water damage. Rooms 307 an 207 smell awful from water damage an mold. However they still rent these rooms. Saw a guest sitting in the hall cause couldn't take the smell in the room that was rented to her.

One of the nicest HI I have stayed at with over 100 visited cool lights in room. Nice customer service. Pool hot tub good.

I loved this hotel. It is very quiet peace and very clean, they have a wonderful staff who are very happy to help you with anything you need. The pool is nice and clean, and their breakfast has something for everyone.

Clean and comfortable room. A little dated building compared to other Holiday Inn Express hotels I've stayed at, but wasn't bad. Staff was nice and friendly and had no problem granting a late check-out and upgraded room with my IHG membership. Breakfast was what you'd expect, pretty standard. Only real issue was with the low water pressure in the shower but it wasn't the end of the world. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

The rooms are nice. The outside of the building itself makes it looks ghetto but otherwise its great. Our keys randomly stopped working during the day but the hotel staff fixed it soon enough.

Very nice room, and one of the best breakfast buffets that I have ever seen. The only issue was people smoking just outside the entrances to the hotel, and on an external stairway.

Not a bad place room was clean and they were pet friendly.

This hotel is located right by downtown in Athens which was the main reason why we stayed here. We came here for the Athfest and the location was very convenient for us. We got a little disappointed when we arrived a little earlier and asked if there is any chance to check in earlier. It's understandable that due to a lot of people staying at the hotel, the room wasn't ready. But the employee could have handled the situation in a polite way and not with a rude and careless attitude. The room was pretty standard. I can't say that the bathroom was spotless though. I found somebody's hair on the towel and there were red spots in between the tiles the shower. After coming to the hotel room around 3 am since we were enjoying the Athfest, we were excited to get some sleep. Little we knew that we were gonna be woken up by a super loud maintenance or any other staff at 7 am. They were shouting at each other in the hallway and it went on for a good amount of time. I don't think we are ever gonna stay here again.

I stayed here during Athfest 2014. The hotel room was clean and the staff friendly. They had a breakfast which included eggs, bagels, biscuits and gravy. Even had a pancake machine! The only negative was they were doing some type of maintenance in the room next to us at 7AM — 8:30AM. This caused me to wake up constantly. If it weren't for that I would have definitely rated it hirer.

My family visited the area on June 1, 2013 to attend a wedding. We were very happy with the staff and the accommodations. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best that I have seen from any hotel. Keep up the good work folks. We will definately stay here again.

My family and I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express several times in the past. This last time we were there, we were greeted by a very warm and friendly gentleman named Joseph. He is a weekend Security guard there, and I must say, He anticipated our every need. He treated us as if we were staying at a 5 star hotel. I highly, highly recommend staying here. Hopefully, next time we stay at this hotel in Athens Georgia, he will be promoted to a Concierge. God bless good people. Shalom.
