Great heated salt water pool, with cabanas to relax by the pool. Great tiki bar with great entertainment and sitting area, Bob was very helpful when our jeep decided not to start. Clean rooms and lobby. Need I say more:)

The beds were comfy and we had a great time at the Tiki event. A little sad with the customer service. Will think about staying again. Friday night we had no toilet paper in our restroom, towel bar hanging, sliding door didnt lock which we were on the 2nd floor so that was okay. I would say the most inconvenient thing was having a hard time getting into our room. It wpyld take like 5 mins it felt like each time. You had to hold the door in or push it out just had to play with it. I did get a $25 a night refund but due to the event that was all that it was worth. To me it would of been better for $50 per night. Other than that it was a great place to stay and beds comfy just make sure you can get into your room.

Awesome place to stay while visiting Sarasota, FL. The Bahi Hut Tiki Bar is a must stop to do. Say hi to Jordan, she’s one of the bartenders.

The new look is a retro 1950s, the atmosphere is friendly and fun. The Tiki bar, with the acoustic guitar, a big tropical drink, hit the spot after unpacking. Rooms and entire hotel was extremely clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful from the first phone call to checkout. Very much recommend!

All new! Greatly decorated with a retro style, new TV, microwave, fridge. The pool area is beautiful very inviting. This cozy hotel is under renovation still and I can wait to see what else they come up with. The staff was friendly and helpful with check in! I definitely recommend this nice hotel!

We were only in the lobby to buy a bahi hut shirt, but the desk lady was nice enough to make me want to give an honest 5 stars.

Went for drinks at the Bahi Hut. Great place and goods people. The drinks are poured well aka strong. Will be back.

Love the history of the place and plan on going back many times. The bar is being restored and is working to make a come back with new drinks and non smoking bar. As one of the oldest bars in Florida and the US still open, I am definitely excited for things to come!

The good: it was clean, cheap and the staff was professional. The bad: the bed and pillows were the most terrible I've seen in years. Also would be nice if they provided a "do not disturb" sign (I didn't see any available) to hang at the door cos the cleaning lady woke us up around 9 on a Sunday morning and we'd have liked to sleep more.

I went to this establish last night and I have received the worse service EVER. The bartender was very rude and disrespectful towards me. She did not service me appropriately and professionally. I waited hours to be served and took hours to receive everything I order. The inside was disgusting and it was a bug infested environment. I would recommend that NO ONE EVER goe to this establishment. There service is awful!

Room stunk. AC was broke and pool was out of order. Best thing about the Golden Host Resort was the historic Tiki Hut.

Had a good time here at this resort. The staff greeted me with a smile during the late hours of the night. Would hope to see more places like this. Had clean rooms and good food choices in the morning. Lot of neat places to visit nearby, hope to oneday come back to this area. Would recommend.

Is well the bad thing is the pool, which is ugly doesn't make you want to get what else is good.

Very good price-quality ratio. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, although they need maintenance, just like the pool.

We stayed at this resort this week and it wasn't bad. Some of the reviews had me a little concerned, but turns out it was just fine. The rooms were older, but clean, the beds weren't bad, and the area was just fine. No noisy neighbors or drug deals that we heard or saw. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and the continental breakfast was probably one of the worst I've had, but those are both unnecessary things. For the price, this room was just fine. We would stay again.

I went here with my boyfriend for a week, staff was friendly, but it is a very bad part of Sarasota. Our vehicles were locked but was broken into along with another couple that was staying there at the same time as we were. The back of the building does NOT have any cameras so the staff couldn't help us at all find who did it or where they went from there. If your staying there I recommend to park as close to a camera as possible!

The room had a bad smell. The bed was too hard, I imagine so that it lasts longer, but it killed my back. The bathroom had a bad smell and every time I showered it flooded. The breakfast is very short varied. I have gone to other hotels in better conditions for the same money and even less money. We paid $277 for two nights (Room # 108) The staff is ok.

It is not in best area, but they are friendly and accommodate. Room clean but dated. I think they are trying to update as they go. Beds comfortable. Quiet areA. Not happy no 24 hr at desk. But they said security walks around through the night. I think for a one or two night stay, it ok reasOnable in season.

2nd year here. Really enjoy the room by the pool. Clean well kept area. Along the old Tamiami Trail. Alot of place to stay from the good old days. This particular place is in good shape compared to what I have driven by. Spend the extra 10 or 15 dollars over the other places, it's still affordable.

This place is old, but clean. Location is OK, not too far away from historic downtown. It can be quite noisy at night. You can easily hear people in front of your hotel room talking, even when it's not that loud. Pool was open, although it didn't look clean and had signs saying it was closed for maintenance. Could be cheaper, we payed around $77…

The best thing about this establishment was the young man who checked me in. I broke glass and needed a broom. He provided me with one right away. Efficent, sweet, and friendly. A special thank you for your hospitality.

It was very clean and the personnel we're pleasant. We were in way in the back… it needed a refrigerator and definitely a microwave!

Pictures on the website are not even close to how the rooms actually look. The bed felt like I was sleeping on concrete and was so old it was sunken pretty severely in the middle. At check in, the front desk clerk asked for my credit card to put on file for "liability" purposes and never mentioned anything about taking $50 off my card as a deposit. It wasn't until after I called the next day after I had checked out and was persistent with the lady that answered that I got my deposit back. Hours later.

My stay was nice. Everything was clean plus the hotel is quite affordable. The workers were very friendly. Front desk gave us a coupon with a free drink in a nearby bar. Good location, Lido beach is just 12 minutes away.

Needed a place to stay for the night, the website said 18+ when I go to the hotel, the lady (Eisha) didn't greet me with the best customer service. Told me I was wrong and must have checked the wrong website when booking it. Probably the worst customer service I have ever received staying at a hotel. They were going to charge me an extra 50 dollars for staying overnight and it's been pending since. Do not recommend staying at. Breakfast was just cereal and coffee. No one was at the front desk when checking out. If you want terrible customer service and a "great" breakfast highly recommend this place.

I came here with the Georgia Tech rowing club for a regatta. The staff here was incredibly friendly. They served breakfast early for us so we could eat before our regatta and even put up "Go Yellow Jackets" on their sign for our arrival. They gave us goody bags with water and sunscreen! Rooms were clean and spacious enough.

Definitely surprised me after all the bad reviews I read prior to staying here but I loved it honestly the front desk attendant was awesome! My stayed included 2 free drinks at the hotel bar and only paid 100.56 with tax. The room and bathroom are huge, a porch that lead me to the pool and a mini kitchen. Honestly couldn't ask for more for that price. They recently remodeled and it looks great! Definitely staying here when I come back to sarasota!

I really enjoyed my stay at Golden Host Resort, in Sarasota. The Hotel had a nice appearance, and the grounds were well kept. The pool and pool area were well maintained. The room was nice, clean and even smelled good when I came in. Their location is pretty central to everything I needed to do during my stay. The staff was friendly, courteous and Alex helped me out when I needed a couple of copies made. Great place, Great people.

The management was the worst I have ever seen at this establishment when I was laying in bed at night I looked over at the stand and there was roaches crawling all over it the lady at the counter at night was wonderful and very courteous to any means. However they had a program of $49 for the room and they charge me 65 for the room and told me it was in the internet problem that they posted the wrong amount the rooms were outdated and smell the wallpaper was peeling off the wall the bathtubs for very small the AC units didn't work very well to cool the room I wouldn't even give them the one-star but that's all you can I suggest spending the extra $20 and go on to a much better Hotel at my check out time they try to say the room smell like smoke even though I didn't smoke they kept my deposit this was a scam just so they can keep the deposit because they couldn't rent the rooms for a higher price.

The rooms needed better choices for channels as programming was limited to 14 stations. The television was a box TV that had only a 24inch screen. The continental breakfast was also limited in selection. We were in the back of the motel, but the front was very loud because of guests coming in early morning.

Great Customer service in Front Desk! I did a reservation and We went there decided to upgrade our room and She was really friendly with us! I think her name is Aisha! Also Room was very clean!

Working in Hotels for many years and traveling a lot, this hotel was the worst experience. Everything except parking was really bad. The housekeeping department doesn't exist at all, service was horrible, the building falling apart so for what I paid is not worth it better stay in a Motel in the highway. I'm so sorry but that is the truth, they need to upgrade everything even get new staff.

I stayed for one night with my boyfriend. Let me start by saying that we used to stay at the hotel economoci and stayed in various motels in the United States. This is definitely the worst facility I've ever been. Rooms dirty and smells bad, in the first room we were give did not work the
flush toilets and towels
they were dirty, in the second (they upgraded our room) did not work the
drain from the sink and there was a leak
from underneath so the morning the whole area
the bathroom was flooded. The morning I saw an insect who walked on the nightstand. No breakfast as it was written about under reservation and poor area of the city.

This place is horrible I will not recommend this to anyone I fought for my money back!

Been going yearly for three years now. Clean rooms, pool, and grounds. Staff friendly. Quiet and comfortable. I will continue to go annually. Good price, too.

The place is old and crappy. Although the Wi-Fi worked fine here. Issue one, run down is the truth, house keeping comes by and just puts fresh towels out and empty's the trash and that is it. When I leave I will let them know all this if they don't read the review. None of the sheets have been replaced while I was there when she came in to clean. She did the towels and trash that was it. No sweeper ran, no other type of cleaning. Pool was clean and well care for. Maybe new management or ownership just starting to get things right? Dated, AC has smell issues, 4 channels only, bad, bad area of town. No one will deliver here really so I did not eat for two and a half days as I did not have a rental car due to my co-worker taken it to see his father for Friday into Saturday I could not leave to go else where.

While staying in the Hampton on University Blvd. (great hotel) we needed another night in the area but the Hampton was booked and so were most of the other Hotels in the area. While lookiing for a room we called the Hyatt Place which is a great p;ace to stay also but they indicated they didn"t have any rooms; they connected us to the Golden Host Resort: they said it looked like a great hotel. After making reservations we were told the hotel wasn"t in a good area. We decided to go see for ourself so we got in our car and drove about 3 miles to see the hotel. Yes it"s in a very bad part of town on arriving we found no one in the office with a sign on the door that says call managment if you need to talk to someone. And also the place really looked run down with a club next door that didn"t look like a place to have your family next to either. So after making reservations and being misinformed on the quality of hotel my family didn"t make the stay. Rated 1-.

Upon booking my reservation for this hotel, I became really nervous after reading some of the reviews. I thought that perhaps I should have referred to reviews prior to booking the most inexpensive place I could find. I needed a place to stay for only one night, and the Golden Host Resort fit the bill. The hotel is close to the airport, so it is in the neighborhood of many other hotels. It wasn't nearly as bad as some of the reviews I read, or I could have possibly gotten lucky with a decent room. This place is inexpensive and suited for a single night stay. The only complaints I have are about the Wi-Fi. If you're on a business trip and need reliable Wi-Fi, this is not the place for you. Since I was only in the hotel when I needed to sleep, reliable Wi-Fi wasn't something I really needed. While the hotel was not the cleanest hotel I've been to, it certainly wasn't the dirtiest. Nothing that couldn't be remedied by my handy Clorox-To-Go wipes, anyway! They offer a complimentary breakfast as well, which I woke up too late to experience. You're not paying for a five-star hotel, so if you come into the Golden Host Resort expecting the facilities to be of that quality, you're going to have a bad time. If you're debating on booking this hotel for a short stay, I'd definitely recommend it for your wallet's sake.

This hotel had a great location. Was convenient to everything. It's a solid clean modest hotel. It wasn't the Ritz Carlton but then I wasn't paying to stay at the Ritz Carlton. Awesome bar right next door! The thing that impressed me the most was the service. Everyone was incredibly helpful from the minute I checked in. Great experience. Would recommend and would stay there again.
