Hard to review it recently as the last time I went was almost 11 years ago when I was 17. Up until then though I was lucky enough to be taken there almost every year of my life. I can't say enough how many memories I have at this place and truly it gives me so much nostalgia just to look at photos of it, and reminds me how lucky I was to be taken to America so often. I heard it changed owners in the last few years, hopefully I can make a much needed return soon. I really hope it never gets taken away as I will genuinely be gutted if it ever is. 5* because when we used to go it was amazing, not too overrun and such an amazing location. A real gem. I hope it is still that way and hope it is for decades to come. Only a crazy person would demolish it!

Clean rooms a little dated but cozy. Also prices were great.

For a cheap quick getaway not a bad place. But could use some renovating as well as a better breakfast.

Still the best choice! Great motel in a great location. You are at the beach in literally seconds. Room 22 is our favourite. King-sized bed, little kitchen and the best bay view. Just the people on the front desk were a little cold which was a downer.

Rooms are nice overcharged me then I had a hard time fixing it.

Excellent room and staff at this location and unbeatable pricing to be only one block from the water! Room was more than adequate; nothing else needed unless you are the type who spend all your time inside the hotel while on vacation.

We've been coming here for over 15 years and we are watching the decline of one of our favorite spots. We checked in on July 28 with a confirmed reservation for a corner room. The kids (yes kids, not adults) could not find our reservation and the told us the room was unavailable. We got a similar room but the reason we went there was for room 8. Of course the next day, it was given to another person who had never been there before (I talked to him). The group of 10 people got 4 different rooms. Why was 8 not available to a loyal customer? This group was very loud, yelling throughout the hotel, using foul language (I can cuss too) and disrespectful of everyone and everything. Customer service-0. Continuing with Saturday the 29th, four cars with 12 people parked in the small "guests only" parking lot and went in the office to tell their friends and get a parking pass. Then they all walked to the beach. Customer consideration — 0. I would urge you to avoid this place now despite the apparent charm it may seemingly have. You will be disappointed and likely have a terrible stay with loud people and subpar accommodations. On an up note, the first time EVER, the ice machine actually had ice in it! We won't be back.

The rooms are a awesome deal. Staff is great. However, if you're looking for a place that's "kid friendly" move on. This hotel is known for a party spot. Also, if you're looking to spend a lot of time in the pool again, move on. There was several wads of hair in the pool… YES hair. The pool needs to be paid much more attention to. Also, there are not enough umbrellas around the pool. So, if you don't have kids and are looking to spend most of your time literally across the street at the gorgeous Clearwater Beach. This place is a huge bargain.

Very close to everything and loved sitting by the pool and watching all the boats go by. Loved that it was close to the marina because we went out on a dinner cruise. Our room had a perfect view of the pool and overlooked the water. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

Didn't feel this was value for money although probably was due to location. It needs some tlcas our room 25 had cupboard door hanging off in kitchen and bathroom door did not close. We booked rooms next to each other but were no where near this. None of the receptionist we spoke to could answer our questions about the area! No milk for coffees on a morning told on order but start of holiday season. Music and noise in general was loud from surrounding properties so windows not insulated to block it out. Glad only there 2 nights.

Rooms are small but a 4 minute walk to beach and has hot tub and pool.

They were nice enough to let me leave my car to go to the beach hours after I checked out :)

I have grown up going to the Sea Captain. Up until this past year I had nothing bad to say about the hotel. However this year was HORRIBLE. The hotel is officially completely a hole in the wall Motel (I would no longer consider this a Hotel). The rooms are disgusting and in complete shambles. Now, I would have overlooked all of this if the hotel cared about the safety and comfort of their guests. This year my family and I (young kids included) were surrounded by upper teens that spent their time yelling, swearing and boozing it up. I actually called Pier 60 to complain 3 times and nothing. I contacted a Manager by the name of Ashley I believe who offered us a discount towards a future stay… ummm I don't think so. I requested to be reimbursed for the night I had to complain 3 times and nothing was done. Do not stay at this Motel or Pier 60. There are so many nicer accommodations along the beach. The customer service doesn't deserve business.

This is a sweet little Motel right off the main Clearwater Beach Road. It is right next to the marina with all the little tour boats going out. It is a little dated, but very Charming. Disappointed that it's closing next year. The room is very nice it has a microwave and refrigerator, stove small kitchenette. The king size bed is wonderful. It is right off the main Clearwater Beach strip area so food Shops grocery area very close by. Great little balcony area overlooking the Marina Bay to watch the boats come and go. Price fantastic. Wish they were not closing in one year. Lots of restaurants and places to eat within walking distance and if you don't want to walk you can catch a cute little bike ride or a free taxi ride for tips. The beach is just a walk across two to three blocks very close you can see from your window.
